The Crown in Luton

The Crown used to be such a friendly fun place to go. But since the new so called manager took over its anything but friendly. Please can we get Ness and Josh back, or at least someone who cares about pubs and the people who use them.

Popped in for a drink after shopping, i had wine, bar attendant couldnt find a clean glass from the wine glass rack. My daughter had cider , the glass provided still had lipstick, so again he had trouble finding a clean glass. We went and sat in garden, the first table we went to was dirty , so was the second we ended using our wipes to clean it. Needless to say we will never go back in there again

Every time I go in here, it's a disappointment. Previously when I have been in here, they have not had all the ingredients for any of the cocktails on cocktail night. I went in there today to take advantage of the beer garden and to give it another chance. The two drinks I ordered were presented with dirty glasses. There were no clean wine glasses, so the bartender had to go and clean one (I expected better during the covid pandemic). Whilst he was cleaning it, we heard him say to a colleague "you can serve them". The site itself is very dark, dingy and dirty. I would not recommend this pub and I will not be giving them another chance.

We visied for a evening drink and meal decided not to eat pub was full of unruly travellers swearing and not worrying about covid regulations management were more worried about money in their till then people's safety avoid it's for YOBS

Any time I visit the crown, I always receive a great Welcome. The service is pr professional and friendly. As for the floors being sticky what do you expect in a busy pub, Axminster carpets. Thanks to Ness & Josh I have a good time and always look forward to the next.

Good town center location and a decent dance floor is about the only positive thing to say about this pub and its manager. Tables are sticky and greasy and the toilets are dirty and poorly maintained. The staff are always in the garden smoking in front of the customers whilst in uniform and none of them seem to wash their hands afterwards. The staff arguing with each other creates a negative atmosphere for customers and the food is far too expensive and tastes bland. All the above suggests incompetence on behalf of the unprofessional manager so spend your money elsewhere. Plenty of better options in Luton.

I always enjoy my regular visits here. The staff are super friendly and very welcoming. There's a vast array of drinks to choose from. Their Covid response is fantastic and well managed. The food is scrummy and is served in eco friendly boxes at present. I'm really surprised to read some negative reviews as that has never been my experience and we should all be promoting businesses when so many are closing.

Good music and dance floor, nice garden and town center location is about the only good thing to say about this pub. Tables are sticky and greasy, toilets and cutlery are dirty and the staff are always outside in the garden smoking in front of the customers whilst on duty and in uniform. None of them seem to wash their hands afterwards and the staff always seem to be arguing with each other which creates a negative environment for the customers. The food is expensive and does not taste fresh. All of the above suggests incompetence on behalf of the manager so go elsewhere.

Amazing COVID response using eco friendly wooden cutlery to reduce contact and contamination!! (Except steak knives) Nice food, good alcohol and nice staff.

Popped in for dinner with a friend. The food was Lovely and was served in eco friendly, disposable boxes and wooden cutlery. The staff were wonderful, really attentive and friendly! Would reccomend!

Had a meal here a few days ago and didnt like it. Dirty cutlery, dirty plates and the food was bland and the meat balls were burnt. My friends had a christmas dinner here and they complained about it. In fact, im sure i got a upset stomach from eating here so go elsewhere.

Totally rude bar manager. Got my bag snatched in here by another customer and she couldn't give a damn even tho they were still on the premises. She has been rude to us ever since!! Worst barmaid ever! Other bar staff are brilliant but she is pure hatred

Went to the crown for lunch and staff as lovely as ever. Nothing is too much trouble for these girls. Food was excellent such great value for money. Had hunters chicken. It came with salad chips onion rings colslaw all for £6.49. You can’t beat it. I highly recommend it.

The staff are lovely here. Go every month for lunch normally the food is great but this time not so good. Food Luke warm . So very disappointing. I must say if there’s a problem they sort it out straight away. Food good value for money

black girl, behind bar, rude, argumentative, unhelpful, chip on shoulder, attitude, she shouldn't work in pub, she has zero customer skills... black girl is short, tubby, black hair in pony-tail, wears specs.....I would sack her.

Met up with a friend there and hadn’t been to the place in years.It was a lunchtime and pretty quiet, ordered 2 fish n chips which was excellent. The barmen was top notch, he checked on us every now and then to see if we needed anything else. Highly recommend the food, the only downside was that there was quite a few items on the menu not available. Would def go again.

The manager is so friendly and kind. The bar staff are nice and really funny. The foods good and there is such a good selection, I love the vegan ice cream. I come in here all the time and I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

This is the most welcoming, friendly pub in Luton. Food is always really good quality and value and they keep a good stock of nice inexpensive wines. But above all else it is the service and the people. You feel at home the moment you walk through the doors. Love it here.

It was a busy Saturday and this pub caters to a lot of different ages. However I came in with my Nieces as this pub is one of their local and I can say when I’m back in U.K. I would come back and visit. The little cute lady behind the bar Shanise gave us exceptional service, she recommended what was better for value in the sharing plates they do and I asked her few questions regarding what they sell on drinks and she was spot on and food was amazing me and my girls couldn’t complain

We came in, had excellent service from Charlie, he was very friendly and showed great customer service. Made our visit very enjoyable.

We walked in on a Friday evening around 7pm, it was quiet but still had a lovely, warm, inviting atmosphere.

We came to the crown this evening for a drink together and were greeted by a lovely smiling young gentleman behind the bar. He ensured our time in the venue was pleasant, and we shall definitely be back. He had a wide knowledge of the drinks and gave us a fantastic service experience. 5*s from us for charlie

Myself and my mother in law had lunch here and I have to say the food is amazing,I had the open sourdough with chicken & bacon the sourdough was beautiful as well as the filling, the hospitality was outstanding definitely recommend the crown to everyone :)

Had a lovely bit of lunch in this great pub. Haven't been here for awhile and straight away wondered why not. This is definitely a place I will be visiting again. Great food , brilliant variety of drinks, fab atmosphere and a fantastic froendly barman/waiter who couldn't do enough for you.

We have been frequenting this pub on a regular basis over the last ten years for our girlie meet ups where we would spend all of the day, east twice and enjoy the atmosphere. So I would say we spend about 300 in any one visit, between us NOT ANY MORE.

Visiting from the states. Lunch was laid back and delicious. Order and pay at the bar, then sit anywhere. Large fish and chips. Fantastic batter.

Awful bar staff was so rude! Was arguing with me about the size of my coke , what i explained to her was she over flowed my drink and was left with half a glass and i asked her to top it up and she wouldnt was so rude about it infront of other people. Such a roudy group in there who bar staff seemed friends with was awful atmosphere!

Went there for lunch and once again wasn’t disappointed . We had hunters chicken extremely large portion. We had two breast of chicken with a lot of bacon on plus sauce fresh salad Home made onion rings chips and coleslaw . Plus two pints for £19 . Service excellent and staff lovely . Slightly out of the way for us but we spend a day in Luton visiting some friends and doing a bit of shopping. Decided to pop into The Crown for some lunch and really enjoyed ourselves. The team were very helpful and friendly. Food was nice and not expensive and we did not have to wait long. Bit funny but the place even has a rear garden, must be great to sit there in the summer but too cold for us. Great that I could watch the footie whilst the other half popped in to the shops across the road. In all we had a great time. Thank you

Went for Lunch today, had a lovely meal.. I did have too wait a little longer than I expected however I am a chef myself and do understand! I just felt sorry for the lad that had too run front of house alone for a period of time.. he had too do everything from serving at the bar too serving food, check backs and clearing tables. I could tell he was nervous about it but I must say he handled it very well!

My 1st visit and is very well laid out and lots of room, Good Character bar staff. Very clean as well.

I recently went for lunch at the crown and had no dissapointments atall. The food was quickly served, delicious and very filling, and great price. Staff were very friendly and it was cosy and nice atmosphere. I am yet to visit this place for drinks in the evening but will review also when i do. Lovely time. Thankyou

Called in for a drink only,asked for a cider only to be told issue with the pumps. Then asked for a pint of Amstel, which was probably the worst tasting pint I've had in years. Sat near the entrance, chairs need refurbishing and the paint peeling off the walls do not make this a place I will go again.

We came here for lunch in the middle of a shopping trip, the service was very friendly and the food good although the portion sizes were slightly on the small side

Fuimos allí para comer algo y ver el fútbol. Buen menú de pub y cerveza parecía bien cuidada. Por desgracia, nos pidieron que nos cambiáramos de mesa en unos 2225 así que podrían hoover. Estábamos bien con la que fuimos a la zona del bar. A las 22.45 fui a pedir la última ronda y nos dijeron que los pedidos ya había desaparecido. Me dijo esto y nos quiered siempre fue la última vez órdenes. Así es el primer pub que he estado donde no pedir una copa a las 22.45. Parecía sencillamente el personal quería golpear pronto. No volveré. Una pena, ya que hasta entonces estaba bien.

On the 21 April at 20H00 me and a friend visited your Pub in Luton.We requested for a meal, as it said at the Pub's entrance that meals were served until 21H00.The cashier lady that attended to us said that she would have to verify if the meals were still being served. We waited and she returned, saying that the Chef would only serve some of the dishes on the menu. For our satisfaction, we then proceeded with the order. During this process, the cashier also informed us of a £5 reduction in case we'd spend over/up to £15. My friend filled out a form for that purpose and our total bill, without the discount, was £20+.We requested then to have the bill divided in two, payment by card and cash and for the £5 discount to be applied. To this, the cashier was quite insecure dealing with the computer system as she couldn't process any of those requests, saying that she had to call the manager, afterwards that the manager didn't pick up... we then requested for the order to be cancelled so that we could request for it again, making it easier, this time in separate bills. The manager finally came to the counter and we resumed our meal requests, this time separate, and of course didn't take advantage of the discount. I requested to eat a 5oz Rump Steak, this was served and after trying it, at least twice, I requested my friend to try it also, as the meat had a spoiled taste. It felt as if the meat was not fresh, but it was in fact frozen, defrosted and then spoiled throughout the day. My friend confirmed the rotten taste and I approached the cashier again, she then went to the kitchen and one of her colleagues came out, apologized and assured me that the meal was not spoiled but they'd offer me an alternative dish. Shortly after the manager came out, standing behind the counter and holding the plate stating that the meat was not spoiled, she had received it and also adding that she was absolutely sure that there was nothing odd with the taste.She told me that the meat was not gourmet, also that I had 2 options: either to eat it or not but I wouldn't receive a refund or alternative meal. I refused to eat it, requested a complaints book, which there wasn't, and I was informed to write on the website by the manager, so I returned to the table where my friend was finishing his meal.He witnessed the situation and was quite surprised by the lack of professionalism, customer service and service recovery that the manager had displayed and asked to speak to her as we could also hear her talking loudly to the remaining staff about the steak, as if it was not truly rotten. My friend spoke to her, she maintained her position and we left shortly after finishing our drinks, with the contact from your Office.

The chicken roast was nice, chicken was tasty, gravy was lovely. The trio chicken burger was very nice. The burger and slaw were gorgeous. The fries were slightly under cooked inside, but they were nice and crispy so if they'd had a couple minutes longer in the frier they'd have been perfect. Staff were friendly. Good range of drinks and a great range of larger on tap. The place is similar to a weather spoons. Little bit unclean and worn. Good for those who like to watch sports.

My partner and I made an unplanned visit here last weekend, as the restaurant she'd booked turned out to be nothing like their website, so we had to change plans quickly...We arrived approx 7pm, so a fairly busy time, but the staff found us a table and served our drinks quickly. There was a good mix of food available on the menu and the prices were competitive, especially given the proximity to the main train line to London.Service from the lady that served us for the majority of the evening was great, very efficient and really friendly. The only slight issue was when a different lady brought out our desserts while we were still eating our mains and seemed a bit put-out when I asked for them after we'd finished our meal. Not sure if she was new, but it was a bit annoying at the time as it's fairly standard to finish main courses first... That was the only minor point though preventing this place getting an 'excellent' rating.I'm glad we found this pub/restaurant, because it made a potentially difficult evening work out OK, so thanks!If we ever have to return to Luton, then we would go back here for sure.

Terrible food.. roast potatoes frozen inside and smelt of fish oil.. chips were reheated.. veg was rock hard..dreadful! Do not recommend eating here at all waste of time and money..

Food was served up cold and the portion was rather small considering the they are charging i would not recomend having the sunday roast especialy the chicken as it is frozen and was served up frozen

I popped in here for some dinner and a glass of wine after work and was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting 'crappy' pub food when I seen the menu and I mean, it wasn't the Ritz but it was definitely worth the money. The young guy behind the bar gave brilliant service and I left feeling satisfied. Thank you!

Saturday afternoon, we ventured into The Crown for lunch. Upon entering we noticed many tables were unclean, so assumed they had been busy which is perfectly understandable. Ordered drinks at the bar, and asked for a table to be cleared and wiped for us, as several members of staff, empty handed had already walked past the table without taking the glasses away. The table was then cleared and wiped without any problem.Problems began as we decided to order food. I ordered a mixed grill and was told they didn't have sausage. So I decided on an extra egg instead to replace it. Only to be then told they didn't have any gammon either. A bit miffed I wasn't informed before, I studied the menu again and decided on a Ribeye steak. None of that either. Frustrated now, I ordered a chip shop dinner. 45 minutes later, we asked how long our food would be only to be told by a member of staff that we would be better off to get a refund and go somewhere else! As I have worked in hospitality I can understand it does get stressful, but I felt insulted that no one seemed to care. I wasn't complaining, I was enquiring as to the waiting time. There was only 1 chef working, who was also on the verge of walking out. Is this really something customers need to know?Food arrived... minus my dinner. Which arrived 5 minutes later.Food was fine but the salad looked like it had been sitting under hot lamps for quite a long time. My sister in law needed to use the baby changing facilities so asked at the bar only to be told there wasn't any! So she had to go to an establishment around the corner, while we ate.This was most probably the worst experience I have ever had for a lunch out. I have grown to expect a certain standard from Greene king pubs and frankly I found this establishmen to be extremely lacking.The standards of service and attitude of the staff left a lot to be desired. The picture says it all about the decor.No discount or refund offered. No apologies given.Not somewhere I would fancy spending money in again.

Often come here with friends, drinks are reasonably priced, staff are friendly, food is good, toilets sometimes a little naff later at night. Music loud late on but good, so depends what you're looking for. Here with my hubby for dinner tonight, good range on the menu, served quickly and good was very nice. Note pub is open past nine that's just when they stop ordering food, bouncers are a laugh.

This is a pleasant place to sit, chat, drink etc., and usually a good menu and excellent deals but disappointing this time, sadly. We visited The Crown on August 26th. We went for the lunch deal, a sandwich/wrap or similar, a side and a drink. Unfortunately they could not provide the drink but offered no suitable alternative. IPA is an English beer, but they could only offer lager or if we wanted a similar beer we had to pay the full price. We considered this and voted with out feet. We went to the Red Lion across from the Crown, who offered a similar deal, could not supply the exact beer but an excellent alternative, all in with the price. Even the menu promised this. Maybe The Crown will have to sharpen up their act, if they want us back there?

Open, airy relaxing atmosphere. Varied menu with excellent deals. Good service. Prices very reasonable. To be found at top of market hill next door to the castle pub and court house so easily accessible.

I havent been in here for years for reasons that i will keep to myself but i decided to give it another go and i was pleasantly surprised, although i thought the food and the beer was quite expensive i enjoyed both. The staff seemed to be friendly enough too, so i will deffo be going back again

Went here with a friend for gossip, drinks and lunch. Food was good, the drinks ended up a bit pricey but that was our fault for not ordering a bottle. Wine by the glass is obviously going to be more expensive! Portions are generous but there is a 'small plate' option which I will try next time. Staff were unfailingly pleasant even when busy. Would definitely return.

Always a pleasure to call in whether for a couple of glasses of prosecco, lunch or dinner. We were here recently with friends on the day the new menu came into being. We were just out for lunch but the best ever deal and we had a sandwich and a drink at £4.99 each. The sandwiches and sides were great and the drinks just perfect. Call in and try it - it is a beautiful pub for all the family.

Me and 6 of my friends came to get some food. We waited one hour and 15 min for the food to arrive.Last time I was there it was quite good this time I was disappointed with it.We also had to go get the cutlery as they didn't brought enough.

Went in there Christmas eve and I was told I was worse for wear last time I was in there even though I was not. I asked to speak to the manager but the lady told me he was not around. I have been a regular in there in there since it reopened and I am absolutely disgusted by the treatment I received. I think some of the staff in there have there own agenda.

Having just had lunch here (meal deal) for the first time,very impressed with the politeness of staff on ordering meal, I was more impressed when half way through the meal one of the staff came, and gave me a pound coin,the lady informed me that I had been over charged.(which I had not noticed) We are going to return here again as a good place for a value meal.

Quite a limited menu but always prepared to a high standard. Helpful enthusiastic staff with smiles on their faces which makes a big change to most places round here. Excellent atmosphere never seen any trouble. Slightly pricey for the area but u get what you pay for.

Generally wary of town centre pubs that do food, but this place has been a pleasant surprise. Eaten here a few times now and most recent earlier this month. Food was easily ordered from the menu, quickly delivered to our table and service was always with a smile. They're very good on typical pub grub, and their burger selection is pretty varied alongside plenty of other decent options. Lots of space, TV screens, a pool table, pleasant surroundings. Overall one of the hidden gems that could easily get overlooked.

It is a very nice pub in the middle of Luton. It has everything a pub should have. It has some very cosy corners as well as wider areas, a good bar and tasty food. There is a pool table and the staff is friendly and quite attentive. When we were there we had to change our food order several times as each time the bartender came back from the cook to tell us that those items were out of stock at the moment. But at least the stuff we got was very tasty.

We needed a quick meal before dropping off our son at the airport, excellent fish and chips and steak and ale pie. Good service and very palatable Greene King beer, a wider range of real ales wouldn't go amiss but certainly didn't detract from our overall experience. And very reasonably priced, an added bonus!

Great little venue in the middle of Luton, friendly staff and a good range of wines beers and food. The place looks like it's just had a refit of some kind was very clean and tidy. Well worth checking out if your in town.

First visit to this pub since its refurbishment and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised.The bar is clean, bright and welcoming, the staff were really friendly and willing to take your order.We opted for the pad choi and a dirty burger. The bar person upsold us onion rings and told us the condiments and cutlery would be brought over to us.This was done quickly and efficiently. There was a slight wait for the food but when it arrived it was worth the wait. Piping hot and looking really appetising. The dirty burger was perfection and really enjoyable, my wife was impressed with the pad choi but did say it was a little runny.All in all very impressed and would be visiting again.

I took note to the managers quick response in my earlier review, This made me want to give this place another try. I have since been back good few times,I came with a friend on my latest visit and we had some drinks and food.I took advantage of the burger and drink for an extra 1 pound offer. I ordered a potato burger which is Vegetarian and i quite enjoyed it. This is much better then the vegetarian burgers you get at other pubs.It came with some coleslaw and also fries included all for 6.79 including a drinkThe service was quite pleasant , The bar tender was friendly.I never got a chance to see the garden last time, And i must say its best beer garden and a joy to sit in . , There is all sorts of different trees and plants some from New Zealand and also bamboo too.I like the seating arrangements, is a nice place for people to come.and relax.Out of all the pubs and bars in Luton this would be in my top 3.I would highly recommend this place it ticks all the boxes. Its a very clean and tidy place with nice atmosphere.It would be nice to have a Karaoke here, or quiz nights during the week as there not much going on in Luton.I will get my previous review removed as i am very impressed with my visits since.Thanks for a pleasant time.

Family drinks for my niece heading off overseas. Bar staff friendly and polite but very slow. Not sure why. DJ brilliant. Toilets extremely clean. Lovely pub. 2am very scary. Doorman raced around shouting 5 minutes to get out or I'll hurt you. Seemed like he was on something. Will never go there or take my family there again. Shame.

Hi I came here as I wanted a change and yes thats what I definetly got . From outside the place looks nice and when you come in its just that really nice seating. Lighting is excellent. and nicely presented. I intially thought this place could be my new localI was quite excited to sit down and order my drink . But I never got round to sitting .The bar lady who served me was very unfreindly and neither interested in being their. She just looked at me without asking what I wanted or anything . Normally when I go to a pub to the bar I get a smile and if id like to order. Sometimes i get a how was your day but this time i got nothing. Anyways I asked for my drink she served it and she then said its so and so and I said I did want a double as i noticed the price was less she then said she could not give me a double as she already put it on the till . I replied Im sorry but i did ask for a double. She then got angry and said i either have it or not so i decided to have it . Another staff member then came up to me looking very agressive i explained the misunderstanding and to my astonishment he said u can finish your drink and leave I asked for the manager but he refused. I then said thank u very much and left without finishing my drink . Was no reason to stay a second longer . Its a shame because I really liked the place decor. However I dont feel welcome at all. Just before I left I saw the bar maid gigling away.I have been to other pubs within chain in luton including jolly toppers and jolly milner and had fantastic service all the time.This by far is the worst customer service I have ever had anywhere. Just some staff think they can do anything and get away with it. It can really put customers off from coming. I wont returning here as im still upset by this. But I will continue to visit jolly toppers and jolly milner.This would have got the minimum 1 star but I have had good experiances at other GK pubs.

Stopped in here on an impromptu pub crawl the night before leaving the UK. Didn't intend to, but ended up staying for dinner as well. The drinks were reasonably priced, and so was the food (and delicious - certainly can't complain). The place was quiet, clean and spacious. The staff (I think his name was Josh? Apologies if incorrect...) - exceptional. Friendly and courteous and a real treat to talk to. If we ever end up at Luton again, I'd certainly come back.

Nice pub, have eaten here on a few occasions, very friendly staff, order taken at the bar, food served quite quickly and very tasty, lunch deli deal is worth a look, good value for money, not a fancy restaurant but idea for lunch or early evening eating, again not a restaurant just a pub that serves decent food.

eaten a couple of times recently. Pleasant pub and friendly staff. Prices very reasonable however the length of time for food to be prepared is slow. First time to thought it may have just been one of those things but again slow the second time. Neither time was the pub very busy.It's a shame as it would be a good experience but they really need to speed up in the kitchen. If you are in a rush there are better places but if you have plenty of time then it's ok.

Haven't been here since refurbished & name change. Staff really friendly. Ate dinner here. Was really nice. Freshly cooked. Fast service. Great value. Will def return & recommend.

Staff friendly and waitress very attentive. We had the sandwiches one with steak the other with fish goujons both delicious except I wanted brown bread but they didn't have any on a Saturday lunchtime in the best weather. There is a bakery just yards away. My son had a kids meal. Good size and good price

Lovely food at excellent value served by lovely friendly staff. I've had a number of dishes from the menu and all have been very nice. I've never been served a bad meal in this pub and the staff really make an effort to make you feel welcome.

Had a quick drink yesterday, 2 drinks £8.80 not a issue but after tasting vodka & coke which hardly had any Coke so asked for a extra splash & told it was chargeable, what for a seconds worth of diet coke out of the tap! Made of carbonated water & sugar that costs you a penny at the most! I was made to feel like I was asking for something for nothing but you such mix your drinks correctly in the first place. If anything why would you want your drinks too strong? I will stick with the Red Lion in the future.

Today on my visit it was the usual busy lunch time rush and me and my boyfriend decided to get the lunch time deal which is usually nice and served within a decent time! But today was short staffed as I only see 2 members of staff and one of them was just running around like a lost lamb. I was disappointed with the service and that there was no white bloomer bread, no straws and I had to go find salt and mayonnaise of another table! The prawns had no flavour and the salad was dry with no dressing or effort put into the lunch and we waited 45 minutes.

Can't believe how bad the service is in here . If you wanted food it was at least an hour wait . There are better bars in Luton !

I went there for the first time a few days ago and had the ramen which I found average. It was a weekday and the staff was limited only the chef and 1 bar person so I had to wait quite a while. The venue itself is ok so as long as you don't have high expectations for the food you should enjoy it there.

Love there cocktails first of all, there food is good quality wise however not really keen on the prices that is why I go once in a bloom moon with friends. Nonetheless, Love the atmosphere and the staff who work there.

An oasis in a noisy town! After doing the Mall and all the noise etc in there,, it is delightful to get some peace and quiet here! Haven't been there since February since I live in Sweden.. Do you still have to wonderful sofas at the front windows? My favourite chill out place!

I went here with my girlfriend a number of weeks ago on a Sunday evening. The food was reasonably priced and met my expectations.I had a rare steak with Salad and my girlfriend had the same but cooked to medium/well-done. Mine was slightly too bloody however it was still perfectly enjoyable! We also had a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon which was very good for the price that we paid.The only real complaint to be made was the atmosphere; I was hoping for a relaxed Sunday evening meal however we were sat next to a large group of rowdy young lads which provided some good people watching but did spoil the mood quite a bit. This problem stems from it being a club/pub on weekends so it tends to attract some noisier types at other times!The staff were also very friendly and attentive which helped to improve the experience.Overall though it was a good meal and I wouldn't rule out returning there in the future.

On arriving at this pub /restaurant my wife and I chose from the menu and ordered drinks. we were told we couldn't order yet as we hadn't chosen a table. So after sending the wife on an errand to select a table our order was finally taken.For drinks we ordered a sparkling water and a pot of tea and we were told the tea would be brought to our table.We sat and waited finally after some 25 minutes our meals were delivered. When I asked the waiter about the wife's tea he was most apologetic and told me he would bring it. My meal pasta chicken and chorizo was OK, nothing to write home about but not bad. the wife's on the other hand ham egg and chips, consisted of burned ham and over done eggs and a mound of chips. She ate some of this, but not much. we finally got her tea some 25 minutes after getting our meals almost a full hour after ordering it. with a mumbling apology about the girl who took the order having some kind of emergency.With a wait of almost an hour for tea, and poorly cooked food we will probably not use this place again after all there are several pubs, hotels and restaurants in the area. which is a pity because under it's previous incarnation "The Heights" I wrote to Greene King complementing the staff and service.I don't know if it was a staffing problem or lack of training that caused the poor service, but I would avoid from now on

I visited this pub last week for lunch, as I hadn't been in for a couple of years. I noticed it had a different name and a friend from the bridge club said it had got done up so I thought I would check it out. I wasn't disappointed, it's bright and clean inside with a nice beer garden at the back (kudos to whoever woodstained the garden furniture, it looks fabulous).When I placed my food order at the bar, the attractive young guy serving me was extremely friendly and helpful (if only I was 20 years younger haha) and helped me choose a nice bottle of wine to crack open while I perused the menu. I chose the deli deal which consists of a hot sandwich, side and a drink all for £5! It's not often I can get a nice bottle of wine and a meal for under £15.I have to admit, while I was waiting for my food to come out I was worried I wouldn't get much; why should I when it's so cheap? When the cute young man brought it out from the kitchen, my fears were allayed as my plate was full and so was I after I ate! (I chose the halloumi wrap with tomato and basil soup, it was champion).I am planning on visiting again soon, maybe this time in the evening as the striking youthful barman told me they do BOGOF cocktails after 5pm! It's a shame I had to take my shopping home as I would have loved to stay for a couple of mojitos! Beats sitting at home sucking flannels, as they say!This place is definitely a cut above the other town centre pubs for atmosphere, service standards and quality of food.

Had lunch here with my husband and daughter, excellent service, staff were polite and attentive checking food was good etc. I had the Vegetarian Basil, Sweet Potato and Mozzarella burger, enjoyed this very much, its really nice to find something on the menu that sounds tasty and is actually tasty. Husband enjoyed the Chicken and Bacon salad, this was a good size and well presented. Daughter had the fajitas, once again this was enjoyed and well presented it was definitely sizzling!I would recommend the Crown for a relaxing lunchtime meal quick service and good quality food and a good price.It would however be nice if the Deli Menu was available on a Sunday as there are some great choices on that part of the menu as well.

We visited this pub last night. Its a Green King establishment. Noticed that they did Old Golden Hen, one of my favourite pints.Good start. After consulting the menu we decided that I would have the Philly burger and double it up and have some olives to start, and my wife would have the skinny burger.Very pleasant staff behind the bar.The olives were very nice and hot, what with the chillies and whole garlic cloves.The burgers were supurb. Very meaty thick and juicy,cooked to perfection and served with great creamy coleslaw and skinny chips. I have to say that that burger is the best I have ever tasted in Luton.If Green King have rolled out this menu across the country then they are on to a sure winner.
