Went here for the first time today, we both ordered fish and chips, the table next to us got fish and chips and the fish was was massive, golden brown and a nice thick piece of fish. We were really looking forward to ours but when ours came mine was very disappointing! My husband got 2 pieces of thick golden brown fish but mine was a small thin, dry, overcooked piece of fish. There was only one person working behind the bar and the pub was cold, so much so I had to put my coat over my shoulders and other people kept their coats on. Such a shame as several of my friends had recommended here.

Made to feel very welcome. food was stunning! Had the Roast of the day Beef sandwich and it melts in your mouth 😍 Hubby had the Gammon, thick and juicy! Mother in Law can't eat a lot so was recommended the lite bite menu which was perfect, scampi chips and mushy peas, fresh and tasty. thank you for having us.. we will be back ❤️

Went after looking for a local pub that we have not visited for a meal. Delighted to find this great place as not many good places around Mirfield. A very helpful landlord and great food at reasonable prices. We went around 4.30 without booking and got the last table. Recommend booking in advance. Menus varied and Sunday lunch menu looks really good so we will have to try it and feed back. Can recommend the 10oz gammon steak which comes with egg and pineapple. Also I think that the chips are homemade! They are having issues with their website but you can find menus on facebook. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed.

Landlords change from time to time, not always for the better. Kitchen staff are great however front of house clearly need to learn how to converse and engage with their customers. A please and thank you is a push…

We go here on a Friday lunch time myself and two friends, we have the light lunch which is enough as when you get older it's plenty. Staff are great very friendly nothing is too much trouble. If I could give it more star's I would. Excellent 👌👍

Just had a lovely lunch with friends. The menu is varied and plentiful, we all had different and all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It was beautifully cooked, presented and not at all expensive. The ambience in the pub was good, the staff very friendly and accomodating. I would heartily recommend this pub and in the summer with it's outside area, it will be one to visit.

Excellent food and a really warm atmosphere. Really nice and attentive staff. The 10oz gammon steak was bigger than my head, and I have a big beard!

Came today for lunch with my partner, absolutely beautiful food. Great service and prices My new favourite place to eat!

Disappointing. Went for Sunday dinner 4pm Not been before but heard good things on FB. Starters were quite nice prawn cocktail was a winner but mushrooms needed more sauce. Tasted lovely though. When they brought our our Sunday dinner they had run out of Yorkshire puddings. Perhaps we should have been told this on ordering because Sunday dinner just isn't Sunday dinner without Yorkshire puddings and it was only 4 o' clock. Beef was overcooked and the side of cauliflower cheese was very mediocre....think they must have run out of cheese too cos it certainly hadn't seen much.... Along came pudding, the sticky toffee pud was quite nice. The jam Roly poly was hard in the middle as if it had been overcooked in the microwave ... and not much jam. Service was also very slow. Think we will stick to Royal and Ancient as it's miles better.

WOW! Where do i start what amazing franchise. Food was Cooked to a nice standard but i would have liked more variety of cuisines. Plate and cutlery were cleaned well and staff were well trained, also the staff very welcoming and smiley when i entered the building. I would have liked tele in the bar area. I would 100% recommend going here.

We had a 3 course meal each, the food was absolutely gorgeous, all 3 courses were very good portions. Very good prices.. a big thank you to the chef, Andy, and the staff Sami and Tyla, who made our day special.

I had roast beef dinner, meat was tough, mash was powdered. My wife had gammon very under cooked. Sent it back and still wasn't cooked enough. She ended up being sick.

Had my baby shower here yesterday and it was a fab day! The staff were all brilliant, so friendly and helpful and the buffet was delish, loads of compliments from everyone who came to celebrate with us and it was really reasonably priced for an do of about 25. Plenty of veggie and meat options and all lovely quality. Staff made a real effort to keep checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed and we'd definitely have more do's here! Thanks again!

Decided to try after seeing a post on Facebook Rang ahead and booked a table Best pub food I’ve eaten in a long time and service was second to none . Brought our drinks to the table and took our food order so didn’t even have to go to the bar. Ordered 2 courses from the light bites menu and would have like a sweet but we were both too full . Food was excellent and a great price Definitely deserve 5 stars and will be visiting again

Had lunch here with my sister. We both ordered ciabattas which came with chunky chips and salad. I asked for fries instead which they happily did for us. The entire meal was really tasty and well presented. We will be back!

Called in at lunchtime and ate from the lite bite menu. 2 courses £9.95! Roast dinner and sticky toffee pudding. The food was delicious, portions size was plentiful and the girl behind the bar was attentive and professional. Highly recommend 5*

We called here for some food a few weeks ago. The food was fantastic. The service was brilliant and a nice touch to speak to the chef too. Will 100% return. Make sure you book as it can get busy.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the staff are great

Have been looking forward to trying here for ages as reviews have been brilliant but not anymore. Seasonal veg on the roast is the finely chopped up frozen bag variety. The chicken & chorizo gyros was southern fried breaded chicken pieces and finely sliced cold deli slices that wasn't even chorizo. And the steak was overdone when asked for medium rare. Dont get me wrong the staff were lovely and so apologetic as the table at the side of us were all complaining aswell and wasn't the first time that night. Apparently its a new chef. So if you're expecting the same quality as Royal & Ancient you will be seriously disappointed. If new chef carries on providing food like that the place is going down hill after it has clearly worked so hard for its good reviews.

Burgers are fantastic and very reasonably priced. Staff are always friendly.

Busy for Wednesday lunchtime compared to some places. Meal was spot on and good beer too. I've lived only a mile and a half away for 40 years and never been.in before. I shall be in again soon 10/10

Excellent food and service , landlord and landlady brilliant!!!!!

Went in on a Thursday night was quiet but staff friendly. Started doing a curry night didn't eat in but asked if they would be able to do a takeaway version for me and they did. Had the chicken tikka, chippati and bhajis. Good price and would actually say was better tasting then some of the curry takeaway places round here.

Manager was friendly, but not very professional, dirty t towel in back trouser pocket. Spent more time sorting energy provider out at the bar. Looked scruffy in jeans and jumper. Had the mushroom starter, not has the pictures stated on the website. Tasted good. Fish and chips to follow. Some of my chips tasted old and warmed up microwave taste, did mention that, fobbed off with it was because they were triple cooked. No they were warmed up. Fish was good. Tartar sauce was very salad cream tasting, not home made. Cheap ketchup. Pub looks a bit scruffy, and a lot of air fresheners about. Toilets needs a new seat. Overall everything dated.

Food wasn't good flat bread just tasted burnt with chicken just sat on no sauce it was just awful I ate it as hungry and paid for it . Others I was with were unhappy too.won't go again . Bar staff lovely.

Nice food, quick and efficient service

Has apparently just started doing lunches - so it was a bit quiet when we arrived at 12.15pm. Filled up a bit as time went on. The service was really good - very friendly staff. The food was amazing gastro-pub fare. I can recommend the Roast of the Day - the beef was thick, generous and tender. My companion had the cajun chicken sandwich with chips. With 3 diet cokes total price was less than £25 as there's currently a 20% discount. Will definitely go again.

Returned after a few months to find things have really improved. Greeted as soon as we arrived and who I presume was the manger could not do enough to help. We tried the Gyros, myself having Pulled Beef Brisket and my wife the Chicken and Chorizo, with a side of Halumi fries. The food was excellent and we will be returning again.

Just been for lunch with my wife and her friend, what a disappointment!!! My wife ordered gammon and pineapple with hand cut chips, I had a rare beef sandwich with hand cut twice fried chips. The gammon was like a cube of meat and they had run out of pineapple!! My rare beef was very well done and even crispy on the edges, the hand cut chips were thin frozen chips and the salad garnish was more like rabbit food with a bit of chopped pepper but no tomato. It was our first time here but it will definitely be our last. Two young lads in the kitchen who maybe had had a couple of weeks training each certainly not experienced enough to run the kitchen!!!!!!!!!

The starters were really lovely and we enjoyed looking forward to our mains .when they arrived my husbands lasagne look and tasted really nice .I ordered hunter's chicken. Looked well presented but I must admit I thought there wasn't enough bbq sauce on .mushroom was cold .but to my horror after taking a mouthfull of chicken. It had a funny taste lifted the bacon and the chicken was raw .Full of apologies and replaced without charge for something different although I ended up eating by myself as my husband had finished is by the time mine reappeared. The pub could do with a bit of a face-lift but it was clean

Large airy pub with big screen TVs. Staff were excellent. Beer in great condition. Large car park and Beer garden. I didn't eat there, but others seemed to be enjoying theirs.

Old style local pub. Tables and grass "out back" for kids to let off steam in nice weather. Bbq too in hot weather.

An excellent pub,totally changed.there are several beers to choose from (especially my favorite "Tetley's bitter from the cask) The food is brilliant and filling, there's an outdoor area lol it's a field with benches , brilliant for kids .Finally the staff go beyond to help anybody , very skilled at their jobs and the landlord is an exceptional guy ,👍🤟

Only ever had a few casual beers here whilst out for a walk (one needs a rest). Staff friendly, prices good - even on their premium lagers. Promised myself to return with others to try their food. Fab beer garden at the rear with loads of seating and great views.

Decent place , plenty of selection of drinks , gutted they don't do Guinness! Spotted people eating but can't comment on what the food is like. The exterior of the pub is spacious plenty of space to play , huge beer garden and a mini football pitch for the kids. Not an overly huge car park but the main road is spacious enough to leave your vehicle on both sides ( however don't recommend drink driving ! ) Seems a friendly place thats family orientated.

Friendly atmosphere. Great service. Excellent recommendations for drinks options. I was the designated driver and asked for something that wasn't fizzy or a J2O. I trued the Erdinger? I'm not sure about the spelling of that, however, it wasn't that bad. There's a pool table, ample parking, an outdoor play area, a large screen TV and comfortable seating. We had a great time there watching the Tyson Fury fight.

Under new management definitely a locals venue all enjoying the craic the weekend entertainment comprising of a Karaoke Disco in full swing the DJ was chatty and accommodating good service at the bar and excellent selection of beers the manageress clearly has vision for thisvenue + plenty of car parking ...Will definitely be calling again

It was a bit quite in the pub, but it was a week night so it's expected. The pub is under new management and it looks like they don't serve food yet, but they said they are getting a chief in as soon as possible. Pub was clean and tidy. The beer was good, but a bit pricey. Had plenty of TV screens to watch the sports. Surprised they didn't have any bar games. No pool table or dart board.

Fabulous- amazing views and first class service

Lovely family pub with the added bonus of great food. Sunday lunch is top quality, lamb leg was the highlight but beef and chicken were also fab. The service felt homely and welcoming and all of the staff couldn’t do enough for us. It’s great having a place like this nearby they cater for wheelchairs with good access and plenty of space.
