Lovely pub next to the canal, the food was very nice too!

Lovely place , a proper village pub with locals who welcomed me in on my 2 days there and lovely staff too. Stayed in our camper van - free as long as you have food/drinks there. Definitely a nice place I'd recommend. 2 real ales on and food was pub food done well. Id recommend the curry!

Well worth interrupting your canal side walk for a pint or two of Wigan brewed cask ale at this traditional old pub. Friendly staff and regulars will ensure you enjoy your stop off. An extensive menu is on offer for those who want something to eat.

Stayed overnight in our campervan right on the canal side at this great pub.Really friendly staff. Tasty food reasonably priced as was the drinks. We had a fantastic evening meal here and the brunch the following day was delicious. They have a fantastic chef . Probably one of the best pub meals I've had in a very long time. Thanks Crooke hall inn.👍🏿

Relajante Bebidas de la tarde en la tarde soleada .. lejos de ella .. este es un establecimiento familiar . . pero en esta ocasión el jardín de cerveza junto al canal estaba habitado con lo que solo se puede describir como boca sucia alta vida baja que donde con intención de hacerse notar corriendo y arrojándose en el canel Los clientes normales solo pararon por una bebida y se fueron por esto. Si este establecimiento quiere atraer a personas que pueden parar para tomar un refresco o dos, sugiero que el propietario / administración resuelva esto.

Brit Stop on a lovely Canal. Just what was needed on a trip Down South. Food was good wine and beer well chilled!

Alas. They couldn't serve us as too busy for food. And a stale pint of lemon something real ale didn't help. Nice staff though.

Wish they'd do more vegan options for food. Love the beer garden and coming here for a drink.

Ordered medium rump steak in the pub. Was also asked again about the condition. We got a thin, completely cooked piece of meat. The meat was so extremely hard that it was difficult to cut with a steak knife. I have never come across such poor quality anywhere. When the waitress came and asked if everything was ok, we told her that the steak was well done and hard. She wanted to tell the boss straight away, as she repeated again, but then neither the chef nor the waitress came to apologize. So after 15 minutes we went to the counter and waited another few minutes until the waitress showed up. We then paid in anger, annoyed that we had spent £50 for such poor quality. As a customer you probably won't be taken seriously here, they're just passing through. Just a shame

Traditional old style canal side pub.

The food was excellent I had Sunday dinner with lamb, even if you're not in the area , this place is well worth traveling to.

Had a rump steak and Stilton baguette bit apprehensive but the steak was perfect and was a nice bit of rump no fat or tough bits and the side order of waffle lattice fries were well seasoned and tasty a really good pub snack and the array of cask ales was a welcome bonus so was the price very well done we will be back soon 😋

Había visitado anteriormente para una copa mientras paseaba al perro. Decidió volver con mi familia para una comida. La comida era promedio que tenía el pollo torcido descrito como pollo con trozos de tocino y verduras frescas de temporada en salsa de pimienta en grano. Lo que conseguí fue lo que sabía a pechuga de pollo congelada precocida de Islandia con guisantes de jardín y dos tiras de tocino rayado apenas cocido. Las patatas fritas a primera vista se veían bien, sin embargo, eran muy crujientes y te dolían las mandíbulas masticándolas al final. No volveremos por comida y no recomendaría otra cosa que una bebida.

Great pub friendly and welcoming

Took my 85 year old stepfather for lunch, nice food, and a friendly atmosphere. The best steak and ale pie he has ever tasted.

Lovely pub and fantastic location

Had an amazing day with the family. Most of the staff were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately the young woman who identified herself as the landlady was at best an embarrassment to the venue. Really bad attitude towards the public and at times very aggressive towards people.

I've loved coming here for 25 years! Lovely little pub right along the canal with excellent food.. I've only given 4 stars because on my visit today there were a lot of smokers stood at the back door and the smell of smoke came through to the bar area.. That and there where children playing football in the car park and the ball hit my car a few times, then the kids came inside playing football whilst we were eating. Parents were more bothered about drinking than watching what their kids were doing! Hopefully our next visit will be less chaotic!

We have been dining at the Crooke Hall Inn for years now and it has legendary status as far as we are concerned! My favourite is the Crooked Chicken which is still very tasty but if I were to offer just a bit of constructive feed back, I would say seriously consider bringing back the magic carrots and cabbage as accompaniments, the tenderstem broccoli is lovely but I personally think this works just a bit better, And possibly instead of the crisp bacon topping, the bits of bacon that covered it and were slightly less well done originally went down a real treat. These are just my personal opinions and we still love coming to the Crooke!

It was early when we visited, but it was nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good and tasty. Enjoyed the real ale on tap too.

I do love having a pint here, I'm a keen cyclist road/gravel/canalrides and you can't help but call in this place when you see it. Great staff, happy and welcoming! Good atmosphere, traditional pub with lots of history.

Went in as soon as it opened (12noon) so it was quiet. Comfortable chairs and good-sized dining tables. Food was fine but nothing special - I had the vegetarian burger. Friendly staff.

What a secret gem of a pub! Great canalside location, very dog friendly, fantastic 'Pub' food and an exceptional team behind the bar, serving a wide range of real ales, wines and spirits.

We recently bought a new motorhome and wanted to take it somewhere fairly local to start with just to test everything out. We'd read that this place welcomed overnighters with campers and motorhomes in their carpark. It was a marvellous experience. There is a nice canal walk for us to walk our dog and the night spent in the canal side carpark was quiet and peaceful. Inside, the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was very good, fresh and good value for money. My highlight of the pub itself is that the real ale is excellent. I have long been a fan of quality real ale the several pints that I imbibed did not disappoint.

Always nice food here.Fitted us in at very short notice after being let down at another establishment.Service was prompt and friendly.I had the steak and ale pie with chips and veg very hot and tasty.very cosy and warm.

Stayed overnight on the carpark facing the canal. No noise or disturbance and was quiet. Booked a table before we arrived for some food which was so easy and the food was very tasty. The locals were very welcoming ,friendly and entertaining. Thank you for a memorable night.

Nice walk along the canal. Nipped in for a drink and decided to have food. Really surprised how nice the food was, as I’m a food snob and pub food is not my thing. The food passed my expectations. Moored our boat opposite the pub so went over with our dogs to enjoy a drink and social interaction. I asked about the dogs and was asked to go in a side bar, we were on our own. A lot off activity in the main bar. I noticed a dog in that bar, I spoke to the lady at the bar she said "oh I did not see him come in" I then continued and commented on the fact the dog was up on the seat's her reply " yes he comes in everyday" So why were we and our dogs banned to a lonely bar? We not only enjoy a good drink but we also like to chat to locals as we cruise the waterways. Not very friendly or welcoming behaviour which is very disappointing.

The building is looking a bit dilapidated inside & out, it needs a good overhaul but food is delicious & staff are very friendly. 1 of the chicken goujons was raw so sent back but was still charged for it and got no apology, so maybe a bit of customer service training in order! Other food was very satisfactory

It's a great place to hangout as it has a beautiful view as well. It has a canal flowing from rhe backside which gives a great view and also a wonderful ambience.

Friendly village pub, decent home cooked food. Good selection of real ales. Love this place when we're passing through. On the side of the Leeds Liverpool canal, the foot paths are in the process of being renewed so better walking.

Traditional village pub in very quiet canal side location. Beer garden on canal bank and a decent sized car park. Pleasant walks and cycle paths along the canal. Friendly welcoming staff. Meal service can be a bit slow when busy.

Went for the crookefest festival, really good atmosphere, food and drink

Went today, just for a drink and food, after a lovely canal walk. They wanted us to pay £2 for entry to the pub. Absolutely ridiculous. They are prepared to lose custom. Disgusting!. On any other weekend, than this we could of had a meal and drink. We were totally unaware of any festival, as not from the area. Just disappointing 😞

Lovely day and evening at Crook Hall followed by overnight stop at location in motor home. Suited our needs and will revisit soon.

Great food,great beer and relaxed atmosphere

Went today for the first time with a friend had a lovely experience. The curry was amazing but had a very good spicy kick to it. Probably the spiciest curry I've had anywhere it was delicious. The rice was fluffy. The garlic bread starter was lovely. My friend had fish and chips and enjoyed it. The food was amazing. We'll be back again at some point. Great atmosphere, great food, nice staff.

Cold food,tasteless sent it back to be returned still cold not the same as it used to be very disappointed

Very slow service, a couple were waiting an hour for a starter Ordered Gammon which was overcooked,came with carrots and a bit of watery cabbage with some dried herbs on them.Usual Beer is good and a varied selection of real ales

It wouldn't be for everyone but it's a traditional pub with homemade traditional pub food reasonably priced. We had steak & ale pie delicious.We would definitely use again. Also lots of walks along the canal

We do come here pretty regular as we walk the dogs along the canal. Noticed they got new tables which they needed. My only negative is the cleanliness of the outside area . There's broken glass everywhere, litter , cig ends which if your sat eating a meal outside it becomes less appealing. Surely it only takes 10/15 mins for a quick brush up. I know it can be hard if there's only one member of staff manning the bar.

Nice canalside pub. Excellent real ales. Food looked nice but we didn't have any. Closed at 9.00 pm and 9.30pm on our visits which was disappointing.

Lovely flat car park right on the canal bank. Free to park and toilets when pub open. The food was great value and fabulous food. Staff were excellent. Highly reccomend , 5 stars.

They must of recently got a new chef, last two times I’ve been now it’s been appalling. Serving salad with brown edges (any chef knows this means the salad has gone off by at least a couple of days) and a HUGE fly! My lasagna had no béchamel sauce and wasn’t topped with Napoli sauce, instead was topped with way too much cheddar cheese (not mozzarella or Parmesan) like it was made by a 6 year old with no pallet, I mean how can a chef make a lasagna and miss some of the main ingredients?! It was on the specials menus so I though there would of at least been some effort put in to making the dish. The salad that came with the fish and chips had a HUGE fly in it, they replaced the food straight away but offered no discount and even had the Gaul to ask us if food was ok at the end. It knocked me sick so I could hardly eat at all. I’d question the chefs CV personally. A 17p microwave meal would of been better. Very unfortunate as I use to really enjoy the food there when they had a chef who knew what they were doing. Won’t be returning for food

Nice setting pub at the side of leeds liverpool Canal food is spot on can get quite busy when the sun is out or the bank holiday just due to popularity of cyclists and walkers calling for a quick drink or something to eat and wait times for food can get abit long but all in all great place local beers and commercial beers are available

Lovely pub with great food. Walked along the canal from Gathurst to Crooke Hall Inn. Very large beer garden on the canal, quite shaded though if you're after some sunshine.

Me and my sister were taking my Mum for an appointment at Wrightinton. It was late in the afternoon, so I had researched where to go for a meal later. I chose Crooke Hall. First impressions when we entered was the pub looked tired. We stayed and ordered food, I and my Mum had the Steak pie and my sister the steak strips on peppercorn sauce. The pie had huge chunks of tender meat with a home made pastry top. Freshly cooked veg, and lovely chips. Shout out to the young lady behind the bar. Extremely helpful and pleasant. She never stopped, making sure that tables were quickly cleaned, and glasses removed. Will definitely visit again.

Very bad food and the staff thought we was lying . Burgers raw and other food awful. We will never go again . And would rate 1 out of ten.

Lovely traditional cannal side pub. New benches outside massive plus. Each and every time we go we say we need to come here more often. Nothing major but a good brush up outside at the bottom of the steps would help. For Beer fans always a good choice and lovely.
