Bay Horse in Wigan

We ate there bank holiday Monday at dinner. I had the jerk chicken sizzler & my partner had the millionaire burger. For the price we were shocked at the size of the meals it was very much worth the money. The only thing I'd recommend is the chicken came with more sauce, only because as it's on a sizzler it dries out quickly and it would be nice to have sauce on the onions as well, but it was still a tasty meal. The staff are always super nice and service is great even when it's busy.

I went there with my girlfriend yesterday, we got told the food was good but even that didn't do it justice!! Amazing prices with amazing quality. Service was brilliant, lovely people all around. Nice and cozy pub. Definetly will be coning back soon!!

A real homely vibe with attentive staff and great food! Mouth was watering seeing other customers getting their meals as we arrived. We will definitely be visiting again!

Food was okish all steaks were well done irrevelent how how you asked for it ,we were missing side dishes we kept asking for them but give up in the end one positive it was really cheap but we will not be returning .

We have been drinking in this pub for over twenty years and have never been spoken to like we were today. This is our local. You obviously have new staff in this venue and I would suggest customer service training for Charlie as she is very rude. Maybe one of those restaurants where the staff are rude and swear at people would be a better fit for this member of staff. We are extremely friendly in Ashton. Her flippent attitude will not wash here. If she speaks to us that way again we will no longer be using this pub as our local. We will also be telling our friends about our experience. Food was lovely service was extremely poor .

Food was nice and a good price that Korean burger was lovely. Good selection of drinks, even a lovely chocolate liqueur shot thing. Staff were polite and accommodating.

Had a breakfast here and the food wasn't anything special. The sausage that came with the breakfast looked like it had been scared by the pan. Overall I thought we overpaid for the food.

Took the car down the road for a service and decided to come for breakfast. Emma was really nice and helpful and the food was great value .

Despite the restaurant area not being busy the service was so slow, waited over an hour for food to be served. Once received the quality of the food was poor.

1 out of the four meals was good. 3 meals bang average and cold. Limitations on food! Wouldn't go again.

Food was fantastic and so quick ,served by a super friendly and efficient staff,yes the interior is a little tired in places but get it's a busy pub,,,, accommodation was great ,lovely warm clean rooms room 10..breakfast served as you like it and by a friendly gentleman ,10 /10

Friendly pub with a wide selection of well priced food. Courteous staff. Amazing gammon, best I've had in many years. (Swapped peas for beans).

Went here with my wife and kids. Food was really good fresh, qualitiy ingredients (not your cheap whetherspoons stuff) , reasonable wait times about 30 minutes for food. Prices were reasonable vs food quality

Always full after the races. The queue at the bar was pretty quick

Usual chain style fayre, exactly what you'd expect, decent food at decent prices, friendly staff and good service. Perfect for those easy meals when you aren't in the mood for cooking yourself 👍

Went to our local last night for an evening meal to celebrate a birthday. Staff were great and made a fuss of my son whose birthday it was. Food was delicious as always and served in a timely manor given the pub was so busy. Love this pub!

Went last night had Ribeye steak, husband had fish and chips, service was quick and friendly. The food was good, got my NHS discount so a good price too. Steak of good quality for the price, did arrive well done instead of med but not burn so happy enough The pub was really busy vertually ever table full, staff seemed calm must have been enough of them to cope, nice to see these days, the staff were cleaning up well, keeping on top of everything Would visit again as local and a good nip to for tea

The pub is freezing cold, impossible to relax and enjoy yourself.

I’ve visited the Bay Horse for food before but never stayed at the hotel. The service on arrival was friendly and welcoming which was lovely. I’d booked a double room but had a family room. It was clean and comfy with all the essentials. The breakfast was great and again really friendly service Really good value and I’d definitely stop here again.

Christmas Dinner was my worst experience ever! Food was shocking and such a let down, booked for Christmas day and it was horrendous, carrots under cooked, scrapps of Turkey, parsnips hard, pigs in blankets still white, when asked waitrose? Thats how they come, which costs us an extra £12 came white, Asked for mint sauce & the waitress never returned, best thing on the plate was was peas,gravy & stuffing, this guy should not be in a kitchen it was a £100 joke😧 wont be ever booking again, need to look for a new chef🫣

Went yesterday for Christmas dinner, had down the best Christmas Day meal we’ve ever had, veg and turkey was cooked perfectly, my partner had steak and said it’s the best she’s had in a long time. Service was top draw. Well worth the money and already booked for next year. Dog friendly and the best food around, service is always top notch as well Just enjoy ore another great meal here with the family, highly recommended Great place to watch to football also

We went for Christmas dinner. The food was ok. Nothing to special but still ok. The service was impressive and the staff went out of there way to be nice. Was it worth the £50+ per head probably not but still a nice meal

I visited with a party of 13 ladies...all complained about the roast potatoes, resulting in them being replaced. We were given a drink on the house plus a reduction I the overall bill.. Very disappointed ....

I went in this pub before the races and it was a good atmosphere with staff that kept the bar as accessible as possible, I didn't have anything to eat but the plates of good I seen coming from the kitchen looked really nice.

We only went for a drink and it was our first time in there. On walking upto it the first thing I thought was it needs painting especially the woodwork. The inside is geared towards families with kids with machines. We sat in the back part of the pub where all the chairs seem different at the dining tables. It looked like they'd got chairs from closed down pubs or something like that. I couldn't believe how many staff were on for a very quiet day. In fact they out numbered the customers at one point. The pub looks unloved and in dire need of a major refurb. That's not an easy thing in today's financial climate. Having said that i wouldn't go a second time and sadly that's the way pubs are going.

Don't like to give 1 star....Called today for Breakfast but just gone 12 pm so I missed out...Decided to have a Carvery...someone opposite me left theirs...mine came and looked pretty good...the Beef is cold...fatty and chewy...left all of it...very small amount of mash was ok ...worst roast dinner I've had in a quite a while..was gutted really...shame really as I like all buisness to do well and left speachless

Went here last night 3 woman 2 hunters chicken and 1 sirloin steak...all cooked perfect ....the house Wine is lovely and so is the price 👍...our barman Declan was on his own and it was very busy for one person however he was brilliant , always smiling and nothing was too much trouble ... great service.....a lovely night was had by all ....this was our second visit and we 3 will definitely be back again 🥂

Been to the Bay Horse a few times now and we love it, staff are so friendly, attentive and chatty, my son loves the Chick N Mix and the hunters chicken is lovely 🙂. If you’re wanting a homely, welcoming pub then the bay horse is the place, we will be back soon 😁

Been in here a few times and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The staff are always very friendly and will always have a laugh with customers. Nothing worse than staff members that won’t say anything other than the script. I find the food is great value for money and you can’t go wrong with the 2 burgers for 1 on a Thursday, I always ensure I skip breakfast to squeeze in the 2nd burger. I will definitely be visiting on a regular basis. Ant the GM is always helpful and interacts with the customers and guests too, I also feel that his team are a credit to him and they never let him down.

Go to place for me after a day at the races, never disappointed

Very good for children, very accommodating, been a few times now amazing ! Had a child with a nut allergy and everything was perfect!

I wouldn't expect a gourmet steak for £15 but would expect to be able to chew it. Literally 40 minute wait between starters and main course, chips very under cooked, would have complained but waitress already told us she was having a bad day!! Not really family friendly, quite a lot of rather loud rather drunk patrons in the bar and several barking dogs sat around tables. Won't be coming back.

Was last in here about a year ago, and the food was so much better. Maybe a menu change or change of cooks. Prices are very reasonable and staff are pleasantly nice and polite. Steak and ale pie was mainly pastry, and the apple pie was frozen in parts. Besides the food. It's a nice pub and good atmosphere.

A very good family oriented place. The waitress could be a little more approachable. All around a lovely place to eat.

The app is easy to use, making ordering a breeze. Prices are reasonable, offering good value for money. However, a few items were out of stock, like the fish and chips, which was a bit disappointing. Nonetheless, it's a convenient and affordable option.

Disappointed with meal and cleanliness of the pub,chairs very stained,overall appearance of the inside of the pub could have done with a good clean,meal tasteless ,have eaten before at other flaming grills and have always been satisfied, but this one is definitely one to avoid

This is the worst place I've been in for years complete lack of customer service and an aggressive rude member of staff .When you book a table I think it's reasonable to expect a staff member to greet you and perhaps show you to it and explain how to order not here stood for ages after entering eventually someone said to go through then after sitting for ages a customer told us you had to order at the bar stood there for 20 minutes while the old lady deliberately served every single person that came to the bar after me I eventually caught her her eye smiled and asked if i was invisible to be told don't start ill get to you when I'm ready we left but noticed outside that I had chewing gum stuck to the arm if my jacket place is filthy can only imagine this establishment is still financially viable because of its close proximity to the race course because it should be avoided at all costs unless you enjoy appalling customer service and aggressive rude old women

Great pub not far from town centre and close to haydock race course food was good great choice of menu plenty space in bar . Food is ordered at the bar with table number was brought quite quickly but was well cooked and presented only thing to improve is the peppercorn sauce its a bit bland Will definitely go again as good service and food was lovely

Everything we ordered wasn't available. No pie or fish. Ended up ordering breakfast and chicken mxi as a main meal which was awful Dessert was the worst as wwhicnas.told they were out.of sto k again. Ended up.ordering.2 biscoff cheesecake which were stale Never ever again.

Called in for lunch. The steak n ale pie and lasagne were delicious. Its great value for money . 2 meals for £13.99. The male member of staff who served us was very professional, helpful, and polite. We look forward to returning.

Fantastic, the disabled accommodation in room 1 was perfect, room for a wheelchair right around the room and bathroom. Bathroom and toilet full of grab rails. Only issue was the height of the bath, could have been even better if it had been a wet room. Thanks guys.

Terrible noisy in the bar / restaurant area. Mob rule and management seem totally inept to do anything, certainly won't be staying again. Avoid at all costs of I were you.

The food was shocking, whilst i appreciate it was 7pm on a sunday and apparently they had no vegetables left for a sunday lunch, what we ordered as a replacement, steak flatbread cello de picant, when it came it was 3 lettuce leaves and 6 cubes of over done very dry steak.

Perfectly cooked food on my mixed grill. Customer service was spot on, very friendly staff and they engaged with the kids which really made us all feel comfortable. Will defo be going back 👌

Great Pub to go to for quiz night. Only time we ever go so take that into consideration. The price of a vodka coke is steep considering how little vodka coke you get versus just ordering a coke which comes in a glass twice as large for half the price. Besides that the atmosphere on quiz night is great. Host has loads of energy and seems like a chill guy. The women manning the bar tend to be quite friendly and nice too. Oh and Parkings great if thats up your alley

Came with my husband we had the bbq meat platter, it's perfect for sharing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, it's a lovely place to eat with family and friends, we will be returning.

Young Girl behind Bar she was aggressive and Rude, don't know her name but she was the smallest with Tatoos on left arm, very rude young woman, then she got the order wrong ? ?

Clean and staff was very friendly. Three of us ate there and the problem was the food. Very bland flavors. The chicken skewer was not edible (too tough to chew). Ribs were not very bad and baked chicken had zero spices. Again the staff was awesome. Good place to go if you have a drink but the food was not restaurant quality.

I keep giving this place a chance and they keep serving diabolical food!

I've been today with my 2 daughters for lunch ( Friday April 26th) The food was amazing. I had lamb kofta and flatbread. I would recommend this place and food to anyone. Can't wait to go back .
