I’d seen this place online before I arrived in Brighton and decided to search it out. I’m so glad that I did. It’s a really cool and friendly place with great choice of beers and amazing staff. Relaxed and welcoming with fabulous customer service from Sam. I came back every night of my stay, as a lone female it was a safe and fun place to spend a couple of hours relaxing. I stuck with the same beer, Schneider Weiss but overheard lots of great advice to other customers on what to have. Well worth a trip here if you’re in Brighton and I’ll most definitely be back next time I’m in town.

Lovely and fabulously friendly staff we were a large group on a stag and some of the group needed, ahem, a certain amount of managing but the staff were marvellous. Food was great and they were really knowledgeable about the extensive beers on offer(including the bonkers carrot beer at £20 a pint…maybe swerve that one unless you have more money than sense). Best pub we went to all weekend (high praise indeed for Brighton). Top work guys❤️

On a cold, dark afternoon, this pub was a brilliant find with its wonderful choice of beers on tap, knowledgeable and friendly bar staff, warm surroundings and tasty food. I adored the Imperial Stout, a drink not widely available. We would really recommend this lovely place for anyone who loves choosing, drinking and talking about a range of local real ales. My husband was on a scooter and access was tricky as there was one moderate step at both of the pub's entrances. The kind barman helped us lift the scooter into the building. Perhaps a short ramp might be made available for other mobility-restricted customers?

Went with a group of friends for Sunday lunch. The roast came with one small piece of carrot and about 5 tiny green beans. The plateful of peas didn’t make up for the lack of the advertised sweet potato mash, broccoli, Savoy cabbage, parsnips and mange tout (plus the rest of the carrots and beans!). We were a large group and so had pre-ordered the food so there was no excuse for not delivering what was advertised and paid for. The food also arrived over an hour late without any updates or apologies being given. What did arrive was tasty enough, (potatoes a bit dry). Some wine was offered after we had our food though. Fortunately the good company still made for an enjoyable lunch spent with friends. Don’t take large bookings if you don’t have the resources to cope with them!

I visited here by accident after the venue I was planning to go to was closed for a private event. Because of the name, I had assumed this place was just good for beer but I was pleasantly surprised to find a lovely, cosy pub. Yes, there is a great range of craft beer but there's also lots of other drinks on offer, and the food we ordered was lovely too (chips were particularly good, and staff were very also helpful with dietary requirements). There was a nice, friendly vibe here and would happily return again. Great size TV for football, too (there was a match on the night I visited but only a few people seemed to be watching).

Came here for a Sunday roast last weekend and it was amazing. The portion was big, had a choice of 4 meats plus a vegetarian option and came with all the trimmings as expected. Cost £15 but it was so tasty that it was worth every penny. Gravy was very tasty too. The place was nice and quiet too. Would recommend if looking for somewhere quiet to have a Sunday roast and a pint.

This pub has a lot of choices for beer and cider. I had the Hissing Fauna and the Sound Wave IPA which were both amazing. For food, the chips are excellent and some of the best I have ever had. If you order a sauce with your burger, they put it on the side which is great if you want to dip your chips in it. Note that for food, they only have burgers as mains, but they have a good selection and you can create your own if you want to, and they have a couple of options for vegetarians.

Usually just one of our regular beer stops when in Brighton, discovering they did a Sunday Roast we decided to try it for food. Placed in a pleasant building in a quiet stree with a very good range of beers. There was a good Sunday food menu with the usual meat options and a nice alterative for veggie types of a Roasted Vegetable and Quinoa Wellington. I am not a veggie but thought it sounded nice; and I am pleased to say it was. Delicious in fact, with all the trimmings. The dish could possibly have done without the Yorkshire Pudding, but I'm not complaining, I ate it! My husband had the beef which was tender and tasty. Prices possibly a little on the high side for a Sunday roast but that is just a minor gripe. We like the CBC and visit their bars when in London. We will certainly return for food and drink in the future.

They were & staff were more than friendly, providing a thirsty dog with plenty of water and smiling politely when we annoyingly decided another table would probably be better. I enjoyed my beef roast and there were positive reports about the vegetarian option. The lamb, however, left quite a lot to be desired, and when the meal was sent back to have hair removed & potatoes roasted more convincingly it made its way back rather slowly & with no potatoes at all. Overall the whole experience was disappointingly but distinctly average; we might be back to drink but probably not to eat.

We had an hour to kill while we were in this area of Brighton and this place was the closest place that did food. I was the only woman in there but it was worth it as the food was fantastic and the beers were fantastic! Food wise I had a cheese burger and my partner had a pork burger (special) and we both loved them! The crackling and apple fritter as well as the pork burger itself looked amazing! The caramelised onion sauce on the burger tasted beautiful and they really didn't skimp on portion size! We had ordered a single portion of chips (which also turned out to be a big portion too) and we couldn't finish them! They have a great variety of beer on tap, and loads of bottled beers! They had a dark vs sour beer promotion on for Halloween too. They also do beer tasting sessions as there was a stag do next to us who were doing that and it looked like great fun! Well worth a visit! Then my daughter asked for a 175ml glass of house white wine. They charged £5.50! When she queried this, she was told it was definitely the correct price for house white. Subsequently at the table we looked at the wine list and they had sold her the most expensive white wine they had. The cheapest was £4.65. They've lost our custom.

I mean this only constructively because - again - the people running this place seemed so nice, so friendly, so welcoming to a family with two quite noisy children. But the food was not good. I had (Sunday) roast pork. It looked a picture. It tasted like nothing. The pork pale and tepid and flavourless; all the 'roast' vegetables just given a caramelly-browning colour but had no crunch or substance to them whatsoever; the crackling tasted of nothing and definitely not salty at all. Yorkshire pudding was giant but also flat and meaningless. We had been going to have pud here but didn't bother. In the interests of balance my wife had the chicken and bacon salad and she was very happy with it. And when there was an erorr on the bill, which happens, they were dead straight about it, no arseyness, corrected it, end of story. There's a lot good about this place and I really hope they make the food taste as good as it looks.

I used to love this place. I visited it many times, on my own, with friends, and with my wife and young daughter - and I mean 'young daughter', she's 8 years of age.I've been a CAMRA member for almost 30 years now, I'm a licensee (having run the award-winning Gardeners Arms in Lewes for 3 years) and fully embrace what craft beer brings to the 'quality beer' scene. However, my most recent visit to the Craft Beer Company beggared belief. I walked in, with my wife and daughter, mid-afternoon, to be told "we don't allow children in, I'm sorry". I very politely asked " when did you change your policy here, that's a real shame". The reply I received from an extremely unpleasant and aggressive barmaid was "it's always been that way, you could not have been in here with your daughter". I explained that we had, on more than one occasion, to which I received the reply "are you calling me a liar"?Somehow, the vitriol and language from behind the bar degenerated further, with threats made of the police being called. All of this was happening in front of an 8 year old girl who was saying to the barmaid (and to her Mum and Dad) "but I have been in here, we sat up in the corner, both times". The standard reply remained "so I'm a liar then" from the barmaid. In defence of every other member of bar staff I have experienced in this pub (and it's superb sister pubs in London) this one barmaid truly is a one-off, and sadly a very bad one indeed. In fairness even to the Assistant Manager on that day, he was very fair and level-headed throughout; I really think he had no idea what had been unleashed on us.Suffice to say we have not returned and are unlikely to do so. I can only hope that the rumours I repeatedly hear of the Craft Beer Company struggling so badly to survive are untrue, in spite of our experience that day.

Altough a chain with four braches or so, it does not feel like a chain and has a great deal of charm. The bar is plainly furnished and looks much like pubs ought to. Good selection on tap and a huge selection in bottles. Staff are friendly and knowledgable. There is a small selection of food; cheese/ meat boards and pies. I really enjoy coming here.

Visited on Saturday afternoon having read articles on TA. You won't just stumble upon this place it is in the back streets of Brighton but well worth seeking out. Really well stocked choice of ales. I could easily have stayed all afternoon and into the evening.Go you will not be disappointed.

I've been here many times, and wish I could come here more often. There is always a great choice of beers on draught and bottled. The staff though young are generally very knowledgeable about the beers. No food as such, just a selection of bar snacks, sausage rolls, pork pies etc. It's only small, so can be difficult to find a seat at times.

The staff were super friendly and the selection of beers was fantastic! Not many places offer rasberry beer on tap! Now one of my favourite places in Brighton. To top it off, the fine selection of beers were actually a decent price! Hard to find in Brighton.

Asked what beer we would like, told them we were still deciding then ignored for the next 10 minutes. Even when signalling for a beer, left and went to another pub. Good beer, very poor service. The bar was not even busy.

Very good selection of real ale, craft keg & bottled beer. Looks and feels like a very good street corner local even though I believe it's part of a chain. I wouldn't recommend the food, the pork pie I had was nice, with a dollop of chutney but for £3 it was very small. But for beer it's well worth seeking out.

If you love your ales or a good quality lager then this is the place for you.A stunning selection of international, small batch Craft ales. At the front of the bar are all of the "special" one off ales. They are pricey but well worth it. Expect to pay for quality (prices on these are by the half and by percentage) but don't be scared off. Believe me a half is all you need for some of them.Round the side are your more traditional ales which start at a stunning £2.50 a pint for the house ale which is very nice.Boasting a selection from Milkeller, Evil Twin, Camden and many more this is a list stop shop for all craft beer enthusiasts.

Another hidden Brighton treasure so close to the main drag. I can't vouch for the food but the beer selection is outstanding and the staff really knew what they were talking about. If you like sampling beer exotica then this is the place. Comfortable too.

A little pricey, but good range of traditional ales, extensive number of continental bottled beers and good, traditional pub fayre (pork pies, scotch eggs, etc). And, if the selection leaves you a little overwhelmed, genuinely helpful staff happy to help you make a drink select to meet your preferred beer style.Definitely a pub for the beer aficionado.

Very enjoyable time at this pub. Very smart interior, friendly staff and a magnificent range of beers in tap make this a great bar to visit. They don't serve meals other than bar snacks like pork pies and sausage rolls, but they are tasty and hit the spot. Highly recommended

This is a great bar with an amazing selection of beer and ales. They stock some legendary brewers and loads of obscure ones from all over the world. Barmen are really helpful and happy to give you some tastings and help you select your beer. If you like your tasty beer be sure to visit! Have fun!

I visited here recently with my partner after it was recommended by someone as being their favourite pub in Brighton. We were not let down.Staff are very friendly and knowledgable, and like our home local real ale pub, offer tasters of beers you may be interested in.A very large selection of bottled beers, as well as 9 hand pumps and a number of draft beers, we were very impressed and will definitely visit again next time we are in Brighton. They offer a small selection of food - pork pies/pasties and cheese boards, which are the perfect accompaniment, and it's good to see somewhere concentrating on the beer, rather than trying to be a fancy bistro bar like so many aces these days.My only complaint was the draft from the door that didn't seem to shut properly!

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. I'll start with the beer. I go to lots of places that claim to have 'a wide range of unusual beers' but after a while so many of them have the same old stuff. 'Craft' is different. If you are into the craft beer scene then 'Craft' is peerless in Brighton & Hove. A truly huge range of rare beers including many from Mikkeller (who's pictures also adorn the walls) that you simply can't find elsewhere. You can pay £3 for a great pint of cask ale (they don't stock anything rubbish) or you can pay eye-wateringly expensive prices for super rare and exclusive beers - and everything in between. The staff are the true asset though. If you are having trouble deciding over your drink, look down at the bar and the staff will have poured you tasters of anything you might be thinking of trying. They really know their stuff. It's a frequent reminder that I know very little about beer. They are never patronising though. They even replaced an expensive glass of beer that one of my friends knocked over.I love this place so much.

Great beer, wicked staff & the best cheeseboard in Brighton. What more do you need/want? Oh, it's also as wonderfully clean and the copper top tables are beautiful. Happy days.

My opinion of this place is divided. I've been waiting for a decent ale pub to open in Brighton for a long time now. It's increasingly difficult to get anything around here but Harveys (which is nice but everywhere) or the generic cooking-lager that people seem to favour these days. When I found out about this place I practically ran to the front door.Nice enough venue, although a little nondescript. Great glasses, friendly and knowledgable staff and a merciful lack of food. However the beers themselves are causing me a problem. They claim to have over 400 different beers and support local British micro-breweries but seem to offer very little in the way of UK beer. Yes they had 9 different cask ales (including the incredible Red Squirrel London Porter) but for a place that raves on about the importance of preserving Britain's beer heritage (see the first page of the menu) I would have expected more.Still, the beers I had there were amazing and a world away from the ever-present Staroprammen so 10 out of 10 for simply being different.

Didn't have any food. I visited the pub as I went on a memory lane visit. I had a knee trembler with a woman from Antwerp, Belgium, on my last visit 😳 ten years previously.

I was at this venue for a friends wedding and I immediately saw why they chose it. The venue has some fantastic views overlooking the harbour. The food was exquisite and the bar staff were excellent, very down to earth and had a bit of banter where appropriate. Sasha who was making the cocktails knows her stuff... Every cocktail I had was delicious and it was always service with a smile. Highly recommend.
