Aberdeen Steak House in Brighton and Hove

Food and service was okay, but I was bribed with a shot to write a good review. So I guess it was good!

Completely forgettable! Cheap decor, cold, uninviting - dreadful. Server was talkative, pushy - hustled for business outside the door. Had the worst Mussels for starter - where did they come from? Small, tasteless. Much ado about the meat and the supplier however the steak, Scottish, was no better than canteen food. Tough, tasteless. Fries were ok, but from frozen. Can't remember what else came with the steak. Unless your standards of food quality are very low do not bother! And it was not cheap.

My husband and I stayed in Brighton for the weekend. On the Friday we walked around Brighton for something to eat. We came across Aberdeen Steak House. What a great place. The food was outstanding the service was brilliant. Such a lovely family establishment. Highly recommended.

Called out to install a new gas grill for these people, and despite numerous phone calls and letters, they still haven't paid. I hate businesses that take other small businesses for a ride!

Family meal of five. Had groupon voucher pre booked. When we arrived told they don’t take groupon vouchers any more!! When we stated that they are still on sale and showed app waitress went and got manager. He said yes they do take them but not on weekends. As it was a Monday no problem. Ordered 4 burgers(vouchers) and one carbonara . Burgers arrived waiter said pasta dish was just coming. After 10 mins I Asked waiter over and asked what was going on had they forgotten meal? He said cooker was going slow and would be served soon. When everyone had finished their meal I said to cancel pasta. He bought it over a few minutes later and said it was free so I might as well eat it. The manager was aware of the problem but never came over or apologised. He was not busy and I felt it was very poor Staff were nice but their English was very limited so ordering asking for extra drinks , sauces etc was complicated as there was not a lot of understanding!!! Wouldn’t go again wouldn’t recommend

Out witj friends we walk past this place and from what I assume is the owner talked us into going in and this is where we should have realised why they are so desperate for business. We waited around 15 minutes for orders to be taken and the first server was friendly then it just went downhill as we waited well over an hour for garbage. Baring in mind there are only two other tables of people, to be waiting 90 minutes for two burgers and one steak is pretty poor. After this long wait we expected something spectacular and it was anything but that. The burgers were bland, dry and even the buns were rock hard. The staff didn't smile, seem to care about anything or even come to the table once apart taking the orders. We had to go to them to pay and they tried overcharging for things we never received. I honestly thought we might be appearing on an episode of kitchen nightmares so please take this advice and go anywhere else in Brighton!

Went this Easter Sunday 21st April with Family coming down from London and We were 4 adults and 3 Young Children after a few hours in Brighton Glorious but Beaming Down Mid-day Sun. We went off to an ' Old 80s Iconic Favourite Of Ours' The Aberdeen Steak House. The Staff with Giro, Tabitha and Rob were Fantastic and their level of Service, Care and Down to Earth Warm Attitude was 'Like The Best Blast of Fresh Air Needed' on a HOT DAY LIKE EASTER SUNDAY. I would definitely 'RECOMMEND THIS NEW UPCOMING MANAGEMENT, STAFF and KITCHEN STAFF' Brigade on the Brighton Eaterie Scene and 'IF THESE PLEASANT EARTHY DOWN TO EARTH STAFF' are trying to make a Go of what was 'I was Told a DUMP LAST YEAR'....then they Have My Full Customer Support and Hearty wishes x

We visited this restaurant today and found the food fantastic and the staff couldn’t do enough for us.

Booked via Groupon and what an amazing treat. Had Burger, chips and salad for two. The waiter and chef were very attentive and welcoming. Will definitely return.

First impression was the place was a bit bland & looked like it had been converted from being an Italian Restraunt into a ‘steakhouse’ The waitress was very welcoming and helpful, however when we ordered 2 Stella Artois (having seen the draught tap) we were told it want currently working but we could have a bottle of it. We ordered one and a bottle of Peroni. She returned to say they had no Peroni as they were awaiting a delivery. We ordered two T Bone steaks medium rare. They arrived promptly with a few tomatoes and some (about 3 each) sorry looking mushrooms. The chips were good but in the side dish of veg (cauliflower, carrots & peas) the cauliflower & carrots were undercooked and hard. Both steaks were tasty but rare to the point of being raw at the bone. We were left with the impression that owners were struggling to make a profit and make ends meet. Couldn’t recommend it to you I’m afraid!

We booked s groupon offer for the roast dinner and invited friends down we are all from London. We booked evening meal online for 7.00pm which was confirmed We arrived to complete darkness, we rang several times and could even hear the phone ringing inside. No message or note on the door! Completely and utterly embarrassing and disgusting! Sort it out

I can't really comment on the quality of the Sunday Lunch as I couldn't even bring myself to step through the door. I went as the restaurant was advertising that it was under new management and I thought it was worth a try. I arrived to find that the restaurant was in relative darkness and there was no one inside. there was a joint of meat keeping warm in the window which looked very unappetising. After a closer look, their appeared to be a gentleman sitting at the window table with his back towards the window, but was he a worker or a customer? - no idea as i went up the road to another establishment which was buzzing with customers and looked welcoming.

Went there with my partner and a couple of friends even if the restaurant want that busy u could feel urself in a restaurant between chef cooking in a open kitchen and funny Italian waitress which was very lovely and helpful..the burger was the best I ever had in Brighton , combined with a good beer and good vibes ,makes u wanna go back :D

I am really not sure if this restaurant is serious or not We arrived at a virtually empty restaurant and we were 'shoes' in by a waitress and, perhaps, the manager. There were promises of free bottles of wine and discounts. We order. It was a party of six so it was a long order but only one course each. I think we ordered about five times and we are not sure if the waitress got it right. It didn't matter. The steaks may have been 9oz or 12oz. Who knows how each one was cooked but one was cold. Terrible chips and a pile of well battered onion rings. To add to the fun. Two men wandered around outside, two women came and went and two expensive cars came and went. All I can say is that I think any restaurant in the area could beat this one

I went to the restaurant last saturday with a froup of 3 friends of mine!!!the atmosfere was great...music not too laud..also new decor ..special food at reasonablr price for expensive steaks...and the best part the staff...a lovely girl served us so we were happy to leave a nice tip!although there was a big party in the other room we haven t been left over at all!!!really looking forward to come back!

Long long long service 45 minutes for two pasta dishes, only us waiting at the time. Random people hanging around bar chatting to chief and server. Toilets soaking wet like they’ve been hosed down. Male server bad, bad attitude. Chief touched food with hands when plating up after hanging out in bar with randoms. Chief told male server to apologise about wait, instead he told us to be grateful they were open late. Only positive is female server who is friendly and helpful. Prob only thing keeping the place going. Honestly believe the other bad reviews, avoid.

Had calamari, soup & cheesy garlic bread. Soup was the only thing that was edible. Main meals had t bone and mixed grill both shocking, over cooked and burnt. Absolutely disgusting! Looked old and horrible. Both sauces peppercorn and blue cheese were not nice and tasted like they had been cooked in old oil... overall absolutely shocking. Waiter was friendly though

We ordered steaks since it is called Steak House. The food was good but didn’t match my personal expectation... The service was quite nice though

We were shocked to see how few were dining at Aberdeen Steakhouse in Brighton. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is calm and welcoming and the food is a lovely icing on the cake. Very well portioned,great taste and alltogether a perfect experience for a night out dining. We highly recommend Aberdeen Steakhouse if you want good steak without any hassle!

I do not like leaving negative reviews but when I am paying almost £200 for a family birthday treat I expect more than this. We waited half an hour before being asked which drinks we wanted and then another 45 minutes before we saw any food. Unfortunately the food was not of the quality I expect from an Aberdeen Angus Steak house. The staff did their utmost to make us laugh but alas it was mainly because, like a previous reviewer said, it's the nearest thing I have seen to a Fawlty Towers episode. There is a lot of work to be done to reach an expected high standard but unfortunately I won't be back to find out. The waitress did not know one wine from another and the other staff were confused as to the meals they were bringing to us. Nobody knew what was going on and some of the meals were cold because they had been standing around so long before being served to us. I even realised after we left that there was a 10% service charge on the bill. More fool me for not checking. Great shame but not for me, I definitely will not be returning.

One of the strangest nights out ever. We had not booked and just arrived on the door about eight ."table for two " we were asked by the oldest bouncer / doorman ever.we were then directed right through an arch only to be asked by a waiter "table for two?" who proceeded to take us back through the arch and pointed at a table right next to the open door and disappeared, looking around another waiter approached and asked "table for two "pointing at table when we explained it might be a bit cold he showed us to another table and asked if we would like a drink

Here for the Sunday roast. Beautiful roasts very nice presentation, very warm & large portions. We were checked on multiple times and our plates cleared and taken with our thank yous to our chefs that we watched make our meals.

Very good restaurant for meat the grand mix grill l eating whose fantastic the lamb end the rib eye steak end the chicken all very good!!!!!! I think you should try this restaurant if you like the meat !!!!!!

En primer lugar, pedimos una botella de vino que, aunque estaba en la lista, no la tenían en stock. En segundo lugar, ambos pedimos filete de cadera que nos dijeron que estaban fuera de stock! Increíble para un asador! Nos ofrecieron hamburguesas, pescado o pollo. Solo tenían un hueso de hueso u otro tipo de filete, así que esto es lo que decidimos elegir. Los dos pedimos un bistec para que estuviera bien hecho, pero cuando llegó no estaba lo suficientemente cocido. Así que fue recooked. El único comentario positivo de la noche fue que el jefe de camareros era encantador, fue muy atento y nos ayudó cuando nuestro pedido no estaba disponible. Finalmente nos dio alguna compensación de cortesía. Me parece triste que este restaurante se haya ido deteriorando lentamente y, si no tienen cuidado, puedo ver cómo se cierra este negocio. !

Una tabla de 6. La mozzarella para empezar era gomosa. Esperamos 1 hora y media para nuestros platos principales, ya que el chef había perdido nuestro pedido. Las carnes estaban recocidas. No nos ofrecieron condimentos y el agua que pedimos llegó cuando terminamos de comer. ¡Seguramente un asador debería poder cocinar un filete! Muy decepcionante no volveré a ir.

Booked a table here for wedenday 10 the Oct for 1 ock had confirmation email and when we got there it was closed and the man said they didn't open till 4 very disappointed what a way to run the restaurant bunch of muppets

¡Un completo desastre desde el principio! Pedimos a Shandy's que nos dijeran que no había limonada, así que ordenó a Stella que le dijeran que el barril estaba vacío. Mi marido tenía una parrillada muy cara donde el cordero era prácticamente crudo y la salchicha sabía que se había sentado debajo de una lámpara de calor todo el día, mi pedido fue llevado a la mesa equivocada y había personas al azar que asumí que eran amigos del propietario simplemente dando vueltas, lo que realmente no le da al restaurante un aspecto profesional! Este restaurante necesita una buena sacudida antes de que se hunda! !

Terrible restaurant very very smelly and staff just as bad. We had a gift voucher to use. I wouldn’t sit inside it was so smelly so we sat at one of the outside tables which I had to clean myself with a wet wipe. My drink came in a dirty glass. I didn’t try the food although my husband who has a much stronger constitution than myself managed to eat both steaks lol with no ill effects. My advice would be try one of the many nicer restaurants around the lanes area.

6 of us in Brighton for the weekend & unfortunately we got told this place was excellent, (apparently it used to be but is now under new ownership, which would explain why before we ordered the waitress said they could only take cash as they were changing banks !!!) Really we should have left at that stage but we all had walked for over 40mins so ended up staying put. (rash decision)

If you want a very frustrating unromatic meal out and you enjoy waiting an hour for a starter that never actually arrives....whilst sitting there watching people who have arrived after you receive and finish their meals... would deffo reccomend

We were a group of 10 people, looking for a recognized chain, I entered the lobby and spoke with the waitress and asked if they could cope with a party of ten?. we entered and were seated. 20 minutes later we were asked if we would like a drink.

Waste of time and money. Fancied a night at a steak house should have looked at reviews before. Waited just under an hour for our food. We drank a bottle of wine In the time for 2 steaks to be cooked. Mine was more rare then medium. Service was terrible. Wouldn't recommend

Poor service. Didn't seem to know what they were doing. Steak ok. Jack Daniels sauce strange. Limp salad, no veg, stale chips. Would never go again . Expensive for what you get. Wish we had complained some others. Awful place.

Food was good and well prepared, but compared with other opportunities to eat in town it is a little bit expensive

Two of our party of five unsuspecting tourists were served salmon which was more than half RAW. The reaction of the manager was one of 'not again' rather than one of surprise. After a long wait, he brought two 'new' pieces of salmon which were burnt to a crisp. By this time we'd all lost our appetites! We were charged in full (£100 approx) for the one course meal. We left hurriedly and ate at the nearby McDonalds. The ONLY positive in this restaurant was the waitress who was nice and we felt sorry for her. Disgraceful establishment!

Returned to the Aberdeen after a great experience last time. This time with my partner. The food was amazing one of the best steaks we have had in a long time. They even sang happy birthday !! Ignore bad reviews give it a try.

Spent the evening with friends , great atmosphere, friendly staff , food was served quickly and portions were generous. We will definitely be returning

Been here only once but I’m 100% going to be going back more. The food there was amazing. My friend ordered a steak and it came out perfect just like she asked and the pasta there is also the nicest ever. I’m so thankful for all the friendly staff around and how understanding they are. I recommend this place.

First time in Brighton, wish we'd done a bit of research before stumbling into this place. Staff were nice enough but very disorganised. Alarm bells should have rung when we heard people complaining and leaving. Poor waiter didn't seem to know what was going on. Finally took a drink order which we had to change because they didn't have the wine I wanted. Starters came - prawn cocktail with no bread and garlic prawns. My poor husband had to find some napkins because the prawns weren't peeled but were covered in sauce! No little bowl of lemon water to wash fingers or even a napkin provided! Mains were fillet steak (which was nice but had not cooked how I wanted it and had alot of fat on the side) and my husband had a rib eye which was also tender and nice. What massively let it down was the fact that it was served with kebab salad and chips which tasted like they had been cooked many times. I asked what came with the steak and was told vegetables and chips. But it was literally iceberg lettuce, thick pieces of onion and some sliced tomato - just like you get in a kebab! I was also given 2 knives to eat it with! We had to ask for the right cutlery.

We went here because there was a groupon deal. The waiter was so rude and made us feel so uncomfortable just asking for items like water. He told us that we could not use the vouchers because weekends are too busy. The restaurant was empty. Then we realised that it was empty because of the food! I had the chicken burger which was barely even worth the price we paid on the deal! The salad was just the gross bit of the lettuce and a slice of tomato. Pretty pathetic. Never eating here again! Even if the food was free I would still stay so far away from this place! If you want rubbish service, over priced and awful food, then this is the place for you.

We booked a table with four groupon vouchers, ‘1 kilo of mussel + a bottle of prosecco’ via Groupon. I received the confirmation email from Groupon booking system, and I called the restaurant to reconfirm. However, when we arrived, the restaurant manager said, “It’s not the season for mussels. I don’t know who confirmed your booking!”. They could only accept one voucher per TABLE whereas Groupon terms and condition clearly stared’ Limit 1 per PERSON’.

We visited during Brighton Pride using a Groupon voucher for T-Bone and Prawns. The steak was cooked to perfection and worth the Groupon voucher. The restaurant, however, was very tired looking and had no atmosphere at all. Our starters were mediocre and rather over priced for what they were (duck pate and spicy squid). The staff were pleasant and attentive, but we did have to wait over half hour for our starter, despite there only being two other people in the restaurant. Although we felt we had value for money in the steak, we would not go back and next time choose somewhere more modern with atmosphere and more up to date food presentation.

My family took me to this restaurant recently and immediately i felt alarm bells. I had been to this restaurant before a few years back and the manager would basically not allow us to leave until my friend gave a 5 star trip advisor review on the spot! Although the food was shoddy! This restaurant is so awful they have a man with a cane standing outside the front door basically begging passers by to come in!

The food was really good; the meat and the wine very tastefull and the waiters friendly and helpfull. I stayed for 1 month this year in England and it was my best dinner. A 10/10. I recommend to try this restaurant!

As a group of four we had booked a table via the Groupon offer, when we arrived at this rather very tired looking restaurant we received a barrage of shouting from the person we guessed was the manager who said that we could not have booked as it was "NOT IN THE BOOK" even though we had the booking confirmation from Groupon on my phone. He reluctantly allowed us to sit at a table (the restaurant only had a few other diners) and after about 30 minuets four small beers appeared after much arguing between the manager and the kitchen staff, when another couple arrived with a Groupon voucher he again ranted about not booking and walked off muttering about "vouchers, vouchers,vouchers"

You know that annoying bit of going on holiday to Spain? Every bar or restaurant you walk past, someone touting on the street, trying to get you to go inside? Well that's precisely what's going on at this place.

Looks good from the outside..... went in party of 5 . Within 2 minutes there was a queue forming. 2 members of staff were shouting at each other then we were shown to a table by the manager/owner who gave us a look that he wished we had gone else where. There were other tables with customers who had not been offered any drinks and no one had any food .after 15 minutes of being ignored we got up and left as did some other diners. Not sure what was going on there but very unpleasant.

Went here as a family the other day on a few deal of four burger meals with a Budweiser for £15. Admittedly it wasn't the Ivy, but for £15 we were blown away. My vegetarian daughter had the nicest burger she'd ever had. We all enjoyed the experience greatly and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I love my food, I love steak even more. My dad and I came here for a meal as he said it used to be the best in town....well it lived up to expectations. The service was first class and the food melted in our mouths. We will be booking to come down from Southampton just to bring the family down for a meal. Very reasonably priced too. Well worth a visit.

could have cooked it myself. my daughter asked for medium without blood, and it was dripping. yuk. mine was cooked OK to my liking, but not a good cut, chips again mediocre, a few bits of lettuce and a slice of cue. they took my daughters food back and returned it slightly better, but the chips had been reheated, they were darker and she had bitten into the slice of cucumber, and they cut off the bit she had bitten and gave her the same bit back. totally pointless. we had to ask for mayo ketchup and some mustard. thought it would be good practice to offer it since there were chips and steak involved..... we had a groupon voucher, will be asking for a refund, definitely wouldn't pay the full price, in fact wouldn't go to any Aberdeen steak houses if thats what they are like... customers behind us looked totally cheesed off too.

Ate there only once via a groupon deal. Staff didn't want to serve us as a Saturday - despite booking a table via groupon. I suppose this reflected in their attitude, poor service and Awful awful awful food. Also food, when eventually served, looked nothing like the offer picture.

A Groupon Deal!! This place has been in Brighton forever and seriously needs to up its game! It is close to the new 360 attraction and should be packed out but we were the only takers. Food terrible steak was dry and cremated chips were frozen chips crispy onions were frozen onion rings. Garlic butter was not garlic butter and peppercorn sauce was probably out of a packet my friend and I had peppercorn sauce both were a different colour coke was not coke given Diet Coke instead absolutely disgusting and over priced do not go there worst steak house I have ever been to

Went Saturday night, only a few people in the restaurant so expected service would be fine. Took ages to get a drink then food arrived very quickly, great we thought but no. Steak ordered medium to well done was raw in the centre. Tried to get someones attention & was ignored 3 times (one female staff member actually walked off rather than attend to my concerns). My husband got up to speak to the patron & he gestured the female would come & again she disappeared. There then ensued a full on argument at the rear of the restaurant regarding who would attend to me!

We were 9 friends having our first lunch in Brighton and Aberdeen didn't disappoint us. We all had burgers with fries and they all were cooked perfect. Great service, great prices and great did, hope to go back some day.

Customer service is everything for a business, so it was a huge let down.

Its that time of year when i spend the week in Brighton, treat myself to the odd groupon and catch up with family down that way.

My friends and I visited the Aberdeen to celebrate a birthday. We had an amazing time and were made to feel relaxed and welcomed by the waiting staff. The food was great and served quite quickly. Overall a lovely evening had , thanks the Aberdeen we will be returning for sure,

Had to wait ages, waiters arguing, people complaining, ordered well done steak which was over cooked on the outside and rare in the middle. Received one starter then the two main courses then the other starter. Believe the chef hadn't turned into work!! Oh and never received the jug of water we asked for. Will not be returning.

So at the end of the meal I get a service charge of 10%, and I’ve eaten on my own. The serving of food has been really slow despite hardly any people in the restaurant. I have focaccia bread which was nothing like it and then a burnt steak with a port sauce which was tasteless. They’d run out beer bar corona. And they think they can slap 10% on the bill. Avoid at all costs unless desperate.

After much soul searching and deciding on where to eat, we stumbled upon this place. I had a Groupon voucher (2 burger and chips with salad and beer) for £8. Friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble, even when I asked to switch my beer for Prosecco. The place is run down and could use some money spent on it but overall we were really impressed with the meal.

Purchased a Groupon voucher to use the same day in Brighton, to be told that they wouldn't accept the voucher until after 9:00pm because they were usually very busy between 6.00pm and 9.00pm. Asked to speak to the manager Giuseppe who eventually agreed that we could come before that time, on arrival the place was near enough empty and we were told we can basically sit wherever we liked. After agreeing the voucher a bottle of Prosecco was brought out and left on the table no bucket no ice and we were left to serve ourselves, we ordered spicy calamari as a starter which was not very spicy, in the background there seems to be a lot of shouting about our order which we could hear from the kitchen about if the mussels were to come with garlic or white wine sauce, they eventually came and asked what our preference was. Everything seem to appear at exactly the same time as the calamari starter including the muscles the chips, the chips were relatively hard but edible and we were later asked if everything was alright but at that time we had to ask for additional cutlery and plates so that we could to put the empty mussels shells in. Overall I would be visiting again pretty lame experience.

Group of 24 booked 6 weeks ago but not ready when we arrived then took 50 mins to get a drink and start to take food order. When food arrived (I hour 45 minutes after arriving) over 3 quarters of the meals were dreadful and people were unable to eat them. 2 in particular (steaks) can only be described as being rotten meat, the smell was so bad it was awful. I believe if the people had eaten them they would have been seriously ill. Waiter then arrived to say he was sorry but 5 meals were missing as they forgot to order them in the kitchen. We left the place at that point only paying the drinks bill. Avoid at all

I've booked through Groupon abd the lack of interest of the waiters on serving with voucher was below zero.

Booked through Groupon for 4 burgers and chips and had a great time. Burgers were lovely and waiter was very accommodating for my fussy children. Waiter was amazing!

The only redeeming feature of this place is the main waiter who was lovely and charming. The food was appalling, over priced by a considerably amout. The lighting was awful, the sauce was split, clearly frozen squid, the mash tasty like it was made with veg oil, the loos were broken ... massively massively overpriced. Like seriously I felt like I’d been mugged. Do yourself a favour and give this place a swerve. To the owners of this restaurant, buy some balaclavas or something - theft is better executed that way!!

4 people, reminiscing about days gone by. It has been 20 years since I’ve eaten there and wish I’d not left it so long. I’d like to thank Jason, Vinnie and the team at the Aberdeen Steak House for a superb experience. The food was amazing, great value and huge portions, the suggested wine went down well too.

Went for a steak lunch with my friend (her 1st visit and it most certainly won't be her last).... Absolutely amazing FOOD and service. The steaks were fantastic and big and juicy... It is no wonder this steak house has stood the testament of time as it was wonderful and if you like meat YOU CANNOT GO WRONG, GOING TO THE ABERDEEN.

So worth the money, the staff are super nice and made me and my boyfriend feel so welcomed, just wanted to say thank you and say we will be visiting again, absolutely amazing food, we cleaned our plates!

These are the worst meals we've had this year. I had a burger that had less meat than McDonalds and certainly a lot less tasty and my partner had a rump steak which she's still chewing. A bit of iceburg lettuce, a slice of tasteless tomato and cold steak cut chips.
