The Crab & Beacon in Mid Sussex

Last year I celebrated my birthday in this place. I liked the food and the atmosphere, there are not many people and you can spend time quiet with family and friends. Recommend for this events.

The Crab & Bacon in East Grinstead is a cozy spot with a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed meal or catching up with friends over drinks. The menu offers a great selection the staff were friendly and polite I will definitely recommend a friends and family

On the plus side, the service was good, and my partner's slider mini-burger meal was OK - though she had to ask before getting the chips that went with it. The bad part was that my calamari & whitebait was so greasy I sent it back. They also refused to honour my Tastecard offer, though as it turned out we wouldn't have benefitted from a 2-for-1 deal, as we ended up sharing 1 meal! I can see the appeal for some, but I won't be rushing back.

Everything was good the staff were very helpful and friendly we enjoyed my birthday and even got free cake Thankyou Mia and all xx

Nice lively atmosphere even on a Thursday, food was lovely. Only downfall was the calamari wasn't very crispy and s bit greasy apart from that I can't fault this place. Staff are so friendly

I had the children’s chicken shish, halloumi fries and tomato, avocado and mozzarella salad! Was absolutely delish, portions were massive too so have managed lunch out of it today! Thank you!

Has come number of times for the Sunday carvery and it I was nice and cooked and highly recommended and one of the best in town

Waited an hour for food even though there was no one in the restaurant. When we got the food the portions were very small for the price you pay and most of it was cold. Will not be recommending this place.

Seriously the food is awful I went in and the chef Wass drunk she pit the wrong ingredients in the dished. NEVER AGAIN

Played pool and a few drinks. Really nice atmosphere and doesn't seem to have the wrong type of customers. Nice for the family.

Decided to treat ourselves however food arrived half an hour late. We ordered food for our 1 year old Son too but we ended up having to cook for him because of how late the food came. Completely ruined our mothers day dinner. Food was OK but not worth £21 each for the Crab and Beacon steak.

Football, pool and darts are all top tier in here. Staff nice but the food is dreadful and overpriced. Frozen and no flavour. Go to the spoons downstairs for food instead.

Had a nice meal, used taste card there which was good, can get bit noisy as they show the football which was ok with me, so if you want it a bit more peaceful avoid match times

Staff are lovely, really attentive but not crowding. Carvery good but starter (calamari) too heavily battered it could have been anything in batter

Chef went home ill. Not even the common decency to ring and let reservations know they weren’t serving food. Everywhere full capacity to take new bookings. Avoid at all costs.

Delivery was early which was fab, but sadly thats where the positives end. Pizza and garlic bread were very disappointing and not worth paying for, with so many pizza options in EG they should really stop offering this. Garlic bread (crunchy baguette with cheddar cut in 4) was the sort of thing to come from a kids soft play centre all day cafe ..and the Pizza was fairly chewy and pretty grim, 2am kebab shop style pizza..not something I think anyone would choose to pay for. Potentially my bad for not going with a trusted pizza option in town but this was not at all what I was expecting.. should have just put the oven on and made a frozen pizza. Shame!

Sunday carvery was quite nice shame meat portions were so small. One really thin bit of beef and same for turkey. Two really small slices and had to almost beg for two Yorkshire's. What I don't understand is my wife and son asked for a bit of each meat 3 slices. and I don't eat pork and was only allowed 2 slices. Paid the same so doesn't figure

We were in this afternoon with the family for a Sunday carvery and kids meal, excellent value for money, lovely food, choice of 3 meats, plus vegan and veggie options, plus all the trimmings, really lovely and good value too, highly recommended

Just had the worst meal from this place. Garlic prawns were overall fishy, texture indescribable, clearly not fresh. Thankfully so overpowering I knew something wasn't right. Also my non fussy partner through most of his pizza away. Not even acetone could remove the stink of the prawns from my hands. Tried to get through to someone with no avail. So public review it is.

Ordered a take away on Saturday night, ended up waiting just under 2 hours until the food came. I had to call multiple times to see what was going on with the order. When the food eventually arrived it was barely warm and not worth the wait.

Just had a delivery. Camenbert.... Just amazing. Cooked to perfection. Steak and ale pie, stunning, so much filling, tender meat. Mash, veg and gravy. Meal arrived later than estimated but it was well worth waiting a bit longer for. Very impressed, thank you very much.

Had a fantastic Sunday carvery food was fantastic, staff were lovely we had my 4 Yr old grandson with us and they treated him lovely nothing was to much trouble

Went with friends for dinner and drinks. Excellent friendly attentive service and fantastic food quality. The cocktails were excellent. It had a great vibe. Definitely be back soon.

Fantastic place. Food is amazing & staff very polite & attentive. Slight wait for food as it was a Bank Holiday but well worth it. Have a couple of pool tables & darts board which is a bonus.

Great service, quality food and drink...... but please sort out the lighting - It is too bright!
