The Watermill in Mid Sussex

Daniel was great. Went out of his way to get us a table. Stunning view. Would recommend. It was great to see the beautiful British nature.

Nice pub, good beer selection, nice garden. Reasonable prices. Haven't tried the food. Limited parking and the decor makes it look it a bit more like a social club than a traditional pub but it's a nice place to visit.

Yeah it’s alright in here, very reasonably priced booze, decent Guiness always a plus. Pool table, sports and sun trap garden I mean what’s not to like right?

We love visiting the Watermill, a great beer garden with plenty of tables, while they have a big inside area with a few screens. They've also got a pool table and dart board setup. Really friendly staff who are always happy to help. I just wish they still served Blue Moon, the main reason I started visiting.

Have noticed The Watermill has undergone a recent renovation so was super excited to go here as this is our new local. The staff were friendly and the beer was nice and fresh (not all the beers were on during our visit). However, the lights were so bright it felt like a surgery rather than a pub and there was no background music creating atmosphere. The pub could definitely do with having paintings or pictures on the walls, too. Really hoping it becomes more of a “vibe” as it has such potential. Will be back in a month or so to hopefully leave a much more positive review.

Good venue to meet up with a group of friends

Well, what a surprise this was. The Watermill is our local pub, just across the road from our house. We go there for drinks occasionally and said we would try the food sometime. Yesterday, Friday 18th August, we trotted on over and ordered food for the first time. I had the cheese burger and fries while my wife had the mushroom butter masala. The food was amazing. The burger was fat and juicy, just how I like it, and far superior to burgers in other pubs locally. In testament to how good my wife's curry was, she finished the huge bowlful. We will definitely be going back again. The service was fantastic. The food is reasonably priced, too. A proper find and just across the road, who'd have thought?

If you are near Wivelsfield station this is a great option. Local pub feel, very well kept beers and friendly staff. Will definitely return. 👍

I am local and haven't been in the Watermill pub for years. I didn't know that they did food. Went for lunch with a friend today. Nice atmosphere but this was weekday lunchtime. I assume in the evening it would be much more lively as very much a sports pub? Have redecorated inside. Polite publican. Compliments to the chef though! Chicken korma was delicious. Fantastic presentation of food. Had apple pie and custard for dessert which was lovely! Will definitely go there again with my family.

New chef serves fantastic pub favourites but what is even more special is the amazing Indian dishes - home made authentically with care. Pub immaculate as always - dog and family friendly. Real asset to the local community. Hope you keep going from strength to strength

Been a busy week, staying in Wivelsfield for a few days, fancied having a drink. I didn't feel awkward going into this pub alone, nice welcome from bar person, stayed for two and was thanked upon leaving. Nice touch, will return.

I left a 5 star review ages ago after having a couple of lovely Sunday lunches. Unfortunately, the watermill is not doing food at the moment??? However went in for a drink before catching a train and was so impressed with the decor and cleanlenest!! This pub is spotless!! So pleased to have a drink last week... And when you do food again we'll be there!! PS the garden is also beautiful! ❤️ Well done to a very individual and established old burgess hill pub!!!

Recently moved in to the area, went for a few drinks to watch the football. Lovely clean, proper pub! Young lad behind the bar was lovely, very polite and helpful. Reasonably priced! We're really pleased to have found a fantastic pub on our doorstep.

First visit to this pub as we've just moved up the road. It's a proper pub. Really pleased how nice it is, friendly atmosphere, welcoming and pleasant and helpful barman (luke I think?) good range of beers, sky sports, pool table and darts. Definitely worth a visit, we'll go here again.

Great local.pub with nice staff!!

Blokey type of pub. Offers a pool table and a dart board, sadly right on top of each other. One or other needs moving but to date nothing has been done. Shame really. Good for a cold beer. Not somewhere you'd take the family for a pub lunch/meal.

No frills, it's a pub. We love the Watermill, nothing fancy, no pretentious decor, nice and clean, plenty of seating, the bar staff are nice & the couple of meals we've had there were good, again simple tasty small menu. It's always popular in there and there's a nice outside area in the summer.

Stopped off here after racing at Plumpton, quite quiet but friendly welcome. Godd selection of beers reasonably priced. Barman put racing on tv and regulars keen to chat, all in all very positive experience. Will definitely call again.

Great service, a lovely place to be in, great pool table and if you are brave enough you can play darts as well 😁

One bar pub. Decor cold and unwelcoming in kitchen end. Makes the big mistake of allowing regulars to crowd the bar area on stools making it difficult for visitors to get served they must lose clientele through this When served staff good.

I'm from Essex that travelled for a birthday party. Arrived at the watermill and was a decent pub to be fair. Locals, food and drink were great. Tidy cosy place with darts and a pool table whilst you watch the footy. What else could you need? Would recommend!

Really lovely local pub. It has improved massively and the beer garden is brilliant. A good selection of beers available. It's my go to locally now.

I am a local but haven't been in the Watermill since it was renovated! Haven't been out for 7 months due to Covid!! Staff friendly. Nice atmosphere. Lovely beer garden. Prices a little expensive but overall a nice night relaxed evening!

What a lovely pub, food was lovely and the staff were friendly. We were so hungry because we had been at work all day and asked if they were doing food, we were told no, but if we wanted to go next door and get some fish and chips we could eat them in the pub. How lovely was that. Definitely go there for a drink again.

The Watermill is a traditional local pub serving some good beers. The new landlord is great and working hard to bring it back to its former glory and the changes are already showing. The service is good and it has a nice friendly athmosphere. There is great choice of ales with regular changes of the guest ones, soft drinks, wine and spirits as well as snacks if you feel peckish. It is pet friendly and families are welcome. They have a range of activities- pool, bar billiards, darts, weekly quiz on Thursdays (and good quizzes too) and live music some weekends, meat raffle on Sundays and sky sports on the tele. Previous reviewer mentioned that it needs a good clean and maybe this is something that needs addressing but by all means this pub isn't dirty or horrible in any way. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Tends to attract a lot of locals. It's a decent sized pub with a good sized beer garden. However the whole place needs a decent clean - or replace the furniture and carpet.
