Fabulous …. Excellent food relaxing atmosphere. Loved that we weren’t rushed between courses , food presented beautifully. Nice to actually visit a restaurant and not a pub. Excellent value for 3 courses. We will definitely return.

Poor service, slow. We weren't asked about any allergies, the menu does not state what is in the meals. For example the menu says steak and ale pie, mushrooms not a steak mushroom and ale pie. Misleading at best. The breaded potato cake that comes with the chicken wrapped in ham contains cheese and what seemed to be spring onion no mention on the menu . We had to ask after 20 mins if our deserts were coming then they arrived after a further 10 mins. Asked for the bill it hadn't arrived after 20 mins so we went to the bar to pay. When I spoke to the manager he had excuses of being short staffed and said he took the menu comments on board, no apologies. I walked out very unhappy that our anniversary for me had been ruined. Not the experience I paid for. The quality of the food was good but overall the experience was poor. I felt sorry for the waiting staff as at points they were running around. If they don't have the staff then the bookings shouldn't be taken and maybe explain when customers arrive.

Just had a great beef filled dinner at the cowshed. Wife , son (11) and I had the greedy cow sharing plate with each steak cooked to order. All the sides were fantastic, particularly the creamed cabbage and waffles & eggs.. Managed to fit in a desert and a couple of drinks to finish off memorable meal Service was excellent. attentive without being pushy. And don't get any of some of the other reviews about price. I couldn't have expected better value for money for the quality of the food and drink we recieved Would happily come again next time in Liverpool

finnaly found somewhere that gives you what they promise. good food, good service and a smile from the waitress to the bar staff to the owners. all dressed neatly and all had a smile. enjoyed every minute of our meal, including the meal. If i had a criticism it was I would have preferred beef but it is served on the dark side of pink apparently. I personally prefer it on the light side of pink. but I understand they are catering for the many and not the few. so no problem

First time visiting here we were welcomed by Jackie who was so friendly and helpful. We had a complimentary soup which was Stilton and broccoli which was so tasty followed by the pork and beef which was just fantastic, great size portions and cooked beautifully. For pudding was lemon posit and cheese cake , again lovely food. The atmosphere is warm and homey and all the staff were polite and welcoming.

A regular restaurant choice for my husband and I. Wonderful welcoming staff and absolutely delicious freshly cooked, locally produced meals. We have only ever been for Sunday lunch but will arrange an evening meal soon. The lamb on Sunday is my favorite and back on the menu soon although the pork was a tasty substitute while we wait for seasonal produce. You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful meal here for a party of 5 on 28th Feb. Food great, service good and priced reasonably. Would recommend the pork belly, duck and especially the sea bass. The starters were lovely and two ere big enough to share between us all. The menu isn't the largest but I'd rather have less choice and better quality food which seemed to be the case. Beer is rather expensive if you're a lager drinker - the bottles of 330ml beer were quite pricey, and would have rather paid a little extra for a 500ml bottle.Dessert was lovely and shared between all 5 of us, since we were so full after our starters and mains. They were thoughtful enough to put a candle in the ice cream as we were there to celebrate a birthday.I assume the menu changes according to season - I will be returning later this year if this is the case.My only complaint is that the sign on the road isn't lit at all, and the entrance to the building isn't lit (it seemed the have the outdoor lights but they weren't turned on). A little more consideration for lighting the actual entrance to the building, and a sign to point you in the right direction from the front car park.

I visited The Cowshed with my fiancé on a Saturday night out. She had heard good things but I’d never heard of the restaurant before.Arrival was interesting as it is down a narrow country lane and the entrance sign is hidden if coming from the Wolverhampton direction but we found it eventually. The car park isn’t very well lit or surfaced which in the wind, rain and my partner wearing heels wasn’t the best.Once inside it’s very welcoming, the staff were lovely and wanted to make sure everything was excellent for our visit. Unfortunately after us having one round of drinks they never checked for any more. We also found as the night got busier the smaller room we were in was really a corridor down to the busier back room with a flurry of people coming through somewhat ruining the atmosphere. The menu is quite limited but we both found something to eat without issue. The starters and mains were lovely, the hand cut chips and steak especially. The desserts seemed a little lacking, almost mass produced in comparison which was a shame.Overall for a smaller independent restaurant its’s a nice place to eat but needs a little more polish to be really good.

We’ve eaten here a few times over the last couple of months and each time the food has been delicious. All has been well cooked and their chicken dish was succulent which isn’t always the case in many places. This is the onky restaurant where I have had the chicken dish more than once.Service is very friendly and they are very allergen aware and cater for my need for a gluten free diet with ease.I do agree that the chairs are past their best, but with the added cushions are actually very comfy.

Crab salad starter was without any suggestion of crab, just a rather basic potato salad. The chef should not be sending food like this to the tables. Main course was duck, again disappointing being rather tough and over-cooked. It was neither slow-cooked as a confit or flash-fried magret style. It appeared uniformly 'grey' throughout as if heated in a microwave..By contrast the service was friendly and polite but not matched by kitchen skills.

Went for Sunday lunch with friends. Food, service and ambience all good (although the peeling leatherette chairs need replacing). However, at £23 per head for 2 course Sunday lunch the Cowshed is over-priced, hence the lower rating. The price does not seem to deter people, as the place was full, but I prefer better value for money.

The meal was at lunch time. There was not the wine we preferred yet the other wine was ok.The bread sharer was just boring bread. The pate was nice but the garlic bread on it was too hard. The rest of the starters were ok.The main were two beefs,a duck and twin other dishes. The beef was too soft as it was most probably a fatty piece of beef. The other beef was too hard. The roast potatoes were far too salty. The duck was cold which we should have mentioned before we had our plates taken away.We may have mentioned it if anyone came to ask how our food was yet nobody did come(standard parties or not as other customer). The dessert of chocolate tart which I had was disgusting in my opinion as it takes of chocolate orange rather than chocolate which ruined the taste.Thankfully, the other dessert of creme brulee was nice even if I think that creme brulee is not a great dessert to have.Even so,the person did eat it all. This place needs a major rethink.Other minor things like mints at the bill could have added but there is absolutely no point in completing minor things like this if the food is inadequate.

The meats were tasty , succulent and plentiful. Visited The Cowshed for the first time yesterday and was not disappointed. This was a great experience from start to finish. Set inside a barn conversion the decor and atmosphere puts you at ease the moment you walk in. Staff also really friendly and knowledgeable they cannot don enough for you. We ordered warm ciabatta and oil to start which was lovely. Before this however, our waiter brought over two aperitifs of Stilton and broccoli soup which was so warming. For our mains we both ordered fillet steak cooked medium, (mine topped with Stilton which was gorgeous) served with crispy onion rings and thick hand cut chips drizzled in truffle oil and sprinkled in Parmesan. This was proper homely comfort food which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Washed down with a nice bottle of Chilean merlot. Finally, to top off a fantastic meal, we had desserts. Rhubarb Creme Brûlée with orange zest shortbread & apple crumble with vanilla ice cream and warm toffee sauce. Both were exceptional and a great ending to our night. Will definitely be frequenting the cowshed again in the future and will recommend to friends and family.

I am a little disappointed with the Cowshed this time around. We have been on several occasions. However, the staff were lovely and very attentive, even getting us cushions because the chairs are clearly too low for the tables, which is really uncomfortable. The meal I would say was average, all everyone of us said our meals were only luke warm. The lamb although the menu says loin was a very fatty and grizzly which is not a loin!. Then I had asked about bringing a birthday cake as it was my partners and his fathers birthdays on that day. We could bring it but policy states you cannot eat it unless you order pudding! So I didn't bother which was a big disappointment before the meal even started. Will I return to the Cowshed, probably not which is disappointing.

Have been to The Cowshed on several occasions but not for a couple of years. We'd always remembered it as being excellent but today unfortunately was not the case. We ordered prawns and garlic mushrooms to start - the prawns had no flavour whatsoever and was obvious they were out of the freezer, the mushrooms were nicely presented but again lacking in flavour. The risotto was stodgy and disappointing in taste and texture. The braised beef so such a huge portion that it spoilt the dish - I like my food but it was far too big a piece given that the sauce was very rich - a smaller piece with far less sauce would have been much more appealing. We were given an extra bowl of vegetables which were a complete waste as there were leeks, potato mash, roasted carrot and pumpkin on the plate anyway - all far superior to the steamed vegetables served in the bowl. The lemon cheesecake was the best bit! It's not cheap - didn't understand why fish and chips were 4 pounds extra!! Even bread was 4 pounds extra too. If there are only 4 mains (on the set menu that don't have an charge extra) they should be excellent and unfortunately they weren't.

Wine selection good. £95 for two including three courses two large glasses of wine and two beers. Will go again. Only thing missing for me was that there was no mention of where the food came from. Other top quality local pubs / restaurants mention where the food is from in some cases name the farm. Don’t suppose it matters really but being in Shropshire there is the opportunity of using outstanding local produce.

I’m sure we were unlucky, but a very long wait for food (1hr 15mins for main courses). Husband said good steak and I enjoyed my Pinot Grigio but beyond that we were underwhelmed considering the reviews and prices. Risotto was too much like rice pudding. Nice little complimentary soup in a cup (also slow to arrive), but husband would have preferred sieved rather than ‘broccoli bits’. Service not the best. Hope you have a better time than us... The restaurant was situated in Pattingham down a country lane, as soon as we arrived we were made very welcome and shown to our seats.

We love coming to The Cowshed for a Sunday roast, and last weekend did not disappoint. Fantastic starter, I mean, the deep fried Brie was a little slice of cheese heaven. My husband had the goats cheese starter and also really enjoyed it. The main event, the roast beef, was absolutely divine. Topped off with lovely cheery service. Can never fault this place and worth the journey over. Will be back soon! Thank you.

Visited the Cowshed on April 22nd...the Sunday lunch menu was extensive and offered good choice. The prawn cocktail and mushroom starters ordered were generous and delicious, and the roast pork and roast beef dishes, with great vegetable accompaniments, were well cooked and brilliantly presented. Apple crumble and lemon parfait just perfect. Service was friendly and attentive, without being over bearing. Will definitely return. A 'mooooost' enjoyable visit to the Cowshed!

Very good menu, generous portions and delicious food. Waiting staff were excellent and answered our questions about the beef used for the mains and queries about the desserts.

We visited the cowshed for Mother’s Day lunch. The place was packed with a lovely atmosphere of families enjoying themselves. I had the tiger prawn starter that was beautiful and the pork for main course which was delicious the crackling was really nice and hard which is a rarity elsewhere. The crepes for dessert were really really good. The service was second to none as everyone was attentive and in a cheery mood. It was a really triumph of a day. Thankyou to everyone involved.

.......A 70th birthday celebration. Nine of us had a great time. The Cowshed requested we all choose our menus a week before to ensure everything was pre-planned to perfection. We did, and it was.

This is a must visit not for just a special occasion but for something a little bit above the 'norm' and a get away from the same old pub grub we have been forced onto by tireless marketing agencies for big pub chains.

We went for a family Sunday lunch (perhaps not the best time to judge). Friendly staff but not very knowledgeable. Lovely broccoli and stilton soup. The main of roast beef etc was disappointing - I would have preferred less well done beef and it all needed seasoning. Great puds, but far too big.

Dinner on a quiet Friday night was spoiled by a draughty cold restaurant. We were told it was a converted barn, what part that played in the justification for the cold I am not sure, it is now a restaurant. Food was of an acceptable quality but not outstanding. Staff perhaps need a little more training, for example we ordered a mid £20s bottle of wine which was placed on the table, top still intact, help yourself!!! We were not paying pub grub prices and expected a little more attention to detail with regard to service. Would we return - perhaps wait for the summer.

The cowshed was highly recommended to me, so I booked a table for 9 for a birthday celebration today. We was not let down at all. Staff were friendly and couldn’t be any more helpful. The food was beautiful and plenty of vegetables to go round. I would throughly recommend this hidden gem and we will definitely be visiting again. Amazing little restaurant

Lovely Sunday lunch. Could not fault the food or service. My only criticism is that I would expect tea or coffee following the three courses for £24.95

My wife and I booked afternoon tea for 28 people in celebration of a special anniversary. The staff were all extremely helpful from the time of us making our initial enquiry to the end of the day of our event. They then emailed to check with me that all had been satisfactory. It was more than satisfactory it was a truly delightful experience with attentive staff and a very, very good afternoon tea. This contained an inventive selection of sandwiches and cakes together with scones served with jam and cream. Tea and coffee were served throughout including some ‘speciality’ teas. We had a cash bar but were able to arrange a drink each for our guests on arrival and delicious sparkling wine for a couple of toasts. Several of our guests made good use of the shop to buy a bottle or two of the wine that they had enjoyed during the afternoon. This was a very good experience well done Halfpenny Green. Will we return, most certainly we will to partake in both the great food in the restaurant and buy wine and other goodies from the deli and shop. Everything was extremely satisfactory and the staff were all excellent.

ITS NOT CLOSED! Visited the cafe after completing a walk along the Railway Walk to Awbridge. It’s had an upgrade and the Harry Potter theme has been replaced with some attractive refurbishment. Great food and pleasant service.

The Bull is a good local pub with a friendly atmosphere. It's an ideal place for meeting up with friends for a drink. Meals at lunchtime are good value for money. Bar staff are friendly and helpful.
