Waggon & Horses in South Staffordshire

This was our 3rd Christmas day lunch, there will not be a 4th. Food was ordered 2 months in advance so no excuse for there being no vegan soup. The dinner was piled in a heap and not a lot of it my husband had only 2 sprouts. I did expect better for £71 per head. We have been regular customers but this has put me off.

Six of us had lunch to celebrate my daughters birthday. Started being informed only one draught beer on offer. Very poor service , waited over an hour for mains to be served. Waited 30 minutes for our drinks order to be taken. There appeared to be only one person serving . When the meals arrived they were very poor. The gravy on my wife`s roast dinner was cold and had no taste. Also no boiled or mash potatoes. My Hunters chicken was small ,over cooked and served with a pile of just green stuff and a few over cooked chips. When our two grandsons starters arrived they both looked with amazement at the small quantity on the plate. They both also said their steaks were the poorest they had ever had. WE ALL HAD A BETTER MEAL A FEW DAYS AGO AT WETHERSPOONS IN KINGSWINFORD THAT WAS IN EVERY WAY BETTER.LET ALLONE THE PRICE.

Just been, no Hobgoblin, Wainwright, Guinness, so had lager! Then asked for a large glass of wine, only to be told there were no large glasses! A member of staff then offered to wash a couple he had just collected but intended to have another round. The staff were polite and apologetic, but the run-down state of the pub, windows flaking and rotting, stained curtains certainly doesn't warrant the prices charged for poor choice and environment!

Horrible place, music too loud, fights on the car park, sticky floors, uncooked and reheated food do not recommend we went for a Christmas family meal and will never be returning. Manager was also unhelpful

Welcoming environment, warm atmosphere, staff greet you personally despite not being in as regularly due to rising costs. General manager even made point to come over and speak to us and speak to us in a friendly, professional manner, seeking and listening to our opinions on a variety of topics around the pub (even though he was on annual leave). We felt like our opinions were important and definately hope to be back in again soon.

This lovely pub was reccomended by my brother Jasvinder and we were not disappointed at all, 10 of us rocked up and all 10 people left 100% satisfied! The starters, mains and dessert were absolutely yummy and good hearty sized portions. Tyler our server was super polite and helpful from the point we stepped in thank you! He is a credit to your pub for his outstanding customer service and manners. Each course was served fresh, swiftly and we did not feel rushed at any point of our meal. Thank you for a memorable meal we will be back again no doubt! ❤️🙏🏼

I went for a family meal of 14 people on Sunday 1st December. What a let down. The tables were scattered around, hence we were all sat on separate tables instead of being together. The food was mediocre. I had the roast pork Sunday lunch, there was two very small pieces of meat, there was plenty of veg. The food was warm, not hot. The service was awful, there was just no attention to detail. We asked for condiments, these were bought on a plate and left on one table instead of being handed out to individual tables. There didn't appear to be many staff, it took ages for them to clear the tables, by which time everyone had gone off the idea of dessert. They clearly can't cope with a large party of people. Also my brother and his wife had the same drinks twice, and were charged a different price the second time. £15 for a Carlsberg lager and a white wine with a splash of lemonade, the second round was 0.55p cheaper. Work that one out!!

Lovely place, would recommend for anyone, Tyle looled after use very well, he was very friendly and enjoyed a few jokes with us as well. Service was good, did not have to wait too long for our food considering we were a party of 10..The food was very lovely and from starters to dessert.

Always a warm natural unrehearsed welcome from all the staff at the wagon and horses pub. The food is always well prepared and good value for money. Always a good selection of beers and wines at a fair price. Jo looked after us on the night and was a fantastic host. She went out of her way to make our night special.

Tasty tea with my nephew who ate 3 courses and stated that his burger was tastier than Mcdonalds ahaha- high praise indeed and also did a little happy dance mid eating his chocolate brownie and ice cream.

Had a nice time here with my friends with a young man named Giorgio serving us on Saturday. Good food and even better service.

Came bank holiday Sunday with my children for a roast lunch. Was absolutely beautiful food, can't fault it. The service was quick and the staff are lovely and can't do enough for you! My 5 year old son enjoyed playing outside on the play area, couldn't get him off it lol. Would highly recommend!! Such an amazing place to visit

Amazing food, amazing service fast and prompt, cant fault the team they are all so lovely here, the events that have been planned over the christmas period all look brilliant will definitely be attending a few of them. Really do enjoy visiting this pub.

Jo has always been an awesome server, genuinely very friendly and welcoming, they would be lost without her. We ordered our food, haloumi fries to start, a mixed grill for me and a sirloin steak for my wife. Starter was nice and hot and a decent portion. The mains came and everything on the mixed grill was cooked to perfection as was my wife's steak and extra points to the kitchen for sending the food out on hot plates which is what you want, especially with a mixed grill that takes a little longer to eat. Finished off sharing a salted caramel sundae which was again lovely. All in all a great return to this lovely pub, brilliant food and a brilliant server, star of the show; Jo. Went to the waggon and horses for lunch we both had roast beef with cauliflower cheese side absolutely delicious we were served by the fabulous JO who is always so attentive there was a nice atmosphere in the pub

A great venue. Free parking. Pleasant atmosphere both in the bar and dining area. Plenty of food/drink options. Friendly staff.

Had a lovely meal with the family food was hot and came out fast. Dan was our server and was really friendly and helpful :) (and had cool hair)

Food was good, hot and arrived quickly. Staff were pleasant and really helpful. I used the website to book the table and found it impossible to amend the booking to add one more person, so I had to cancel and rebook. I had a 30% discount voucher but this was not applied when I ordered my food through the app - very disappointing.

The food here was fresh tasty and hot. The beer was very good. The service was very good.

Dirty glasses, poor selection of real ales, over priced poor beer. Not cheap, could be so much better. We only had drinks so can't comment on food.

We enjoyed a family birthday get together….we were a party of children & adults….meals for us all were delicious & enjoyed by all….the roast dinners were very tasty….our waitress Jo was great making sure everything was ok & made our experience enjoyable…definitely will visit again ….

Staff were lovely, food was really nice. Price was fantastic due to Meercat Meaks discount. Only criticisms would be that we had to wait around 25 mins for the food even though the pub was quite empty, & that the Prosecco was flat. We highlighted this & the staff apologized & swapped it right away. Apart from that it was lovely & we’ll definitely come back.

We were extremely disappointed. Extortionate prices for mediocre food, one example, squashed chicken and mushroom pie with one lump of 'mashed' potato and very little else! Hunter's Chicken, again, tiny. The service was dreadful, staff need urgent training, your young staff have no initiative whatsoever. Customers should not need to ask for tables to be cleaned and cleared, which we did on several occasions. Again, an example, 2 plates were taken away, leaving 2 the on the table..along with dirty glasses, a mug and teapot. Our sweets arrived with all of this debris still there. Sorry, but our group will certainly not be returning. It was far superior before, when the spit roast chicken was on the menu.

We have visited the Wagon&Horses Wombourne on several occasions and have always enjoyed a lovely meal . Yesterday 22nd September was an excellent experience. The service by Jo as always was very professional and friendly. We will be back!.

Booked on line which was easy , our server was Jo who was great , attentive and efficient, the pub did appear understaffed and yer service was still great, food was excellent , hot and fresh, my husband and brother in law had the kebabs and they said they were best they had eaten , lovely evening great start to the weekend

Never write reviews but had to for this. We waited 10minutes to be seated and the first thing I noticed was many tables were left and not tidied after people had sat there, which already gave me a bad impression. There were two of us and had to be seated on a 6 person table because of this, which I wouldn’t usually care about if it was actually busy however, it wasn’t. The waiter did ask if we would rather wait to get a drinks order or go to the bar, we decided to wait. We thought the wait would be 5-10minutes, however we waited 20. We ordered our food with the drinks order too. After another 20minutes, no tables near us had been cleared and no sign of drinks. The waiters were very acknowledging and apologetic towards us and the table next to us, which is somewhat of a positive. In the end we left having not received our drinks after 20minutes. Will definitely not be returning any time soon and wouldn’t recommend it at all to anyone.

Booked a table for 6pm, arrived 5.57pm and wasn’t seated until 6.10 even though there was a party of only 3 in front of us. Was then told there was no sunday roasts and only gammon available on the grill menu. It then go to even worse, 25 minutes to take our order even though we were trying to get their attention and when eventually placed the food didn’t arrive for another 40 minutes . I had the gammon which was overcooked but I ate it as couldn’t bear waiting any longer for food. Would I like some sauces etc they asked, can I have mustard please, guess what, got none and we then had to table hunt for salt, pepper and vinegar. Also this place is expensive compared to local competitors including the drinks. My advice is to avoid this place and visit much better local pubs and restaurants. It really was a very disappointing experience.

On arrival to the place the place looked lovely and wonderful. The staff were lovely and welcoming. However the service that was provided when it came to ordering food was very slow and delayed considering it was not Peek time and there was not much customers in the restaurant . Also the food Lacked numerous of flavour it was bland. There was no seasoning on the meat i.e steak the chicken strips. All though I was not happy with the meal I did pay the full price but would definitely not eat here again. Especially when it comes to having a child with special due to the Service been slow this upset my child cause him to throw his self around the restaurant The staff didn’t seem to mind or try and explain to us that our food or anything was going to be delayed

My wife and daughter both ordered steak baguette, my daughter’s was very nice, my wife had to send hers back because it was inedible. She could not cut the steak because it was too tough, neither could she pierce it with a fork. She had to settle for another dish instead. She was very disappointed and could not understand why her steak was like shoe leather and my daughters was fine, same meal at same price. We expected better

I went to the Waggon and Horses with my friend on a busy Friday night and found the staff to be amazing and food delicious. We were served by a lovely lady called Jo. She was kind and made sure we were happy with everything. She definitely made our evening better and she is the reason I would come again. Thank you Jo for your kind hospitality. X

Poor quality food, hair on one plate, one meal was served cold, potatoes hard, way over priced, long wait for our meals. I only went back there as it was a family occasion, never again. I'd of had a better meal at McDonald's, very poor.

Lovely food and great service! The 30% off Main meals was great and as a family of 4 in the school holidays it made it a super affordable treat!

We just popped in for a quick lunch and we enjoyed it very much, food was great, beer was good and the service from Sydney was excellent. As ever, the place was understaffed, I understand that the cash savings are for the benefit of the shareholders, thoughtless really, but it was enjoyable nevertheless.

Lunch time visit. I had the gammon, cooked perfectly. Jill had the steak and ale pie with fries, also very good quality. The staff are helpful and friendly. Only criticism is on the cocktails. On the menu, but couldn't make an old fashioned correctly. But only charged us for double bourbon, so no problem. Visited for evening meal. Steaks not done as requested, but other meals fine

First time here. Was a nice visit. No booking needed and quick service. Food was lovely and fitted in desert too, not much to the side salad apart from leaves m, abit of a let down. Steak cooked perfect. And beautiful BLT

I regularly visit the Waggon and Horses with my family.However today has to be the worst meal I have tasted at the Waggon and Horses. It wasn’t so long ago that we visited on the 11th February and had a thoroughly enjoyable roast Sunday dinner. However since a change of hands the quality of food has deteriorated. The Sunday lunch was poor with under cooked roast potatoes and swedes and an oversized Yorkshire pudding you couldn’t cut. I can normally eat most meals even if they aren’t great but this was really poor. I was offered a free desert and ultimately a 30% discount but it will be a long time before we even think of visiting again. If you are looking for an enjoyable Sunday dinner I would seriously look somewhere else.

Decent bit of scran,the poor server lass was rushed off her feet but she still made sure everyone was getting what they needed.

Both of us enjoyed our food and it was very tasty. The pub has a nice family atmosphere and the menu has a really nice choice of dishes. It was Jo who greeted us on entry & showed us to our table. She was really pleasent and personal. There did appear to be only 2 people waiting on the tables, which seemed odd for a Friday teatime but you wouldn't have known as Jo was very much on the ball & didn't keep us waiting at all. Overall, I recommend The Waggon & Horses as it was an enjoyable meal and we will return again.

Nice staff but the food was awful they seemed to not have many things on menu and the Sunday menu is quite small waited an hour for our food in a very empty pub veg was so over cooked it was like slop regret not complaining if I'm honest ,chicken strips on kids menu were actually low quality chicken nuggets did actually hear someone else on a nearby table complain about their meal some parts of my meal were luke warm too I 100pct would not return you'd expect better service and food quality especially as the were not busy sunday 30th June

Great service. All food came out together which was great. Reports from other guests some of the roasts could have had more flavour.

Standard marstons. But the problem is the other customers. Not family friendly, people smoking and swearing like a dirty tramp, right by the play area. Even acknowledged we had kids, and it just got worse. Staff are all young. 2 glasses were dirty (lipstick marks) but quick to change. They need mature staff to support them on a busy sunny Sunday.

It's ok, food is pretty standard for a Marston's, had the Sunday roast which was good but not to the standard of other pubs in the area.

Presentation was brilliant, but the quality of food wasn't the greatest. Hunters chicken - chicken was hard and overcooked Lamb kebabs - over cooked Kids chicken bites - very salty No staff around to give any feedback or even to check how was the food
