12 pounds for permanent exhibition only at the ticket booth on the day It was my first visit in more than 10 years, but it was as fulfilling as ever. Van Gogh, Degas, Manet, Monet, Seurat, Rubens, etc. Not only major works, but also many cool works from the Renaissance period. Is it because of the fee? It's also great that there aren't too many visitors so you can enjoy the show in peace. Places to visit along with the National Gallery

Having visited the Gallery in the past, l was keen to see it post revamp. But l was disappointed. It's an interesting building with many corners, staircases and doors - there must be more, l thought. But, no, three simple galleries and a beautiful shop. An excellent lift, and the occasional glimpse of the great outside through a window. My main interest is the Impressionists and l am pleased to know this is the largest collection of Cezannes. But, somehow, that room seemed dull, flat. Perhaps because of the colour of the walls - white. It was good to see a favourite Van Gogh, and a Cezanne l wasn't familiar with, but otherwise l was not excited. The Van Gogh is one l first saw in the Courtauld about 60 years ago, when the gallery was in its previous location.

The impressionist gallery was definitely the highlight with lots of famous works and a lovely airy space to enjoy them in. The other floors with medieval and Pre-Raphaelite stuff were pretty dull to be honest - have seen better collections in less illustrious places. The only thing that deducted a star was that they have closed the entrance to the gift shop on the -1 floor so you have to go across the way and down the stairs making it awkward to get there and inaccessible if you can't do stairs.

Located in Somerset House, the Courtland Gallery is another less known London gems. The museum is partitioned on three floors, with Medieval artists exhibited on the first, Renaissance on the second and Impressionists and modern artists, on the third. The gallery exhibits works from a plethora of world-renowned artists - Gaugain, Renoir, Monet, Cezanne, Manet, Rubens, Botticelli and many, many others. The paintings are presented in a modern, neat way, a characteristic of many London museums that places them in the world museology lead. Even the gift shop is excellently organised and stocked, while the building's architecture is a sight to admire on its own. You'll need around 1.5 hours to visit the museum - it is spanning on three floors but the overall size is quite compact. The adult price of admission in £12 and the online booking slot takes just a few minutes to secure. Tickets can also be purchased on site.

Staff showed us to our table but didn’t mention there’s no table service. We couldn’t order online as there is no signal at the rear of the restaurant. Fine, we can order at the bar by why not tell people on entry? When the food arrived the serves were tiny. Pancakes ok but served with ten elderly blueberries, a smear of raspberry jam and a bare teaspoonful of cheap vanilla yoghurt. This dish was over £10. Ridiculous. Miserly and off putting. There was a broom and cleaning equipment abandoned in the main eating area, cardboard boxes stacked up everywhere and an air of disorganisation. Ugh. Won’t return.
