Cafe Zee in Ealing

Came here as i was travelling through Ealing Broadway and had heard some very mixed reviews, from excellent to really poor, culminating is a rather low overall score. Many have mentioned poor service and poorly prepared coffee. All I can say is that I had 2 flat whites here and both were among the best 2 I have ever had in London. They were prepared by 2 different individuals (a good sign) and both were of the same very high standard. Perfect temperature, texture and really beautifully balanced blend of their own roast. Service was quite honestly, fantastic, and so was the ambience and the food, although I didn't eat this time, looked really good and something I will be coming back to partake in next time I am in this area. WiFi was a little spotty, but you can't really put that at the feet of the cafe so I issue a pass on that front and give them a very very worthy 5*. Ignore the low rating here and just come along. Far too many small-minded reviewers around here with obviously unrealistic expectations. Highly recommended.

No smile on the face not welcoming. Espresso was light bodied and pretty dead.

Grabbed quick coffe before meetings. Place was bit busy , but still hade opportunity to take a sit. Placed ordered by the tills, but cofe was delivered to my table. I have a look around. Place was clean. Team members were also polite

Very tasty and massive sandwiches, Freshly roasted coffee inside as they have their own coffee Roaster.

OK, speak as I find. Yeah, it is a wee big dark inside. Adds that bit of atmosphere, nice and rustic interior, only had the 12oz latte at £3.60. Not bad price considering what others charge. I personally found the staff friendly and social, and the latter was good. Give it a go, and critical comments on this place I feel are nit picking, nowhere as bad as they say

Nice cafe but average coffee! There are many better places around.

We waited 10 minutes for a waiter to notice us. There were 4 people behind the counter and not one came to take our order. One was too busy checking his phone. My husband had to go up in the end. The menu is basic and the coffee and orange juice was awful. The spinach, feta & mushroom omelette didn't taste great. The place is overpriced and staff are not friendly. You're definitely better off going to Gail's across the road.

A good place to eat meet friends and or have lunch. It is slightly dark inside but has lots of space. The toilets could do with a little improvement but they are ok. The staff are very good and warm and speedy. The tables are spaced enough apart to have good conversation and good meals. There is a downstairs which is very good (lacks natural light) but works well. I like it and will return. It.is not overly expensive in fact fairly reasonable at todays prices. Definitely should try this as a eat and meet place

Burn pancakes, orange juice was basically water with orange color, bad attitude from the lady who serve us

I make every effort to only ever leave positive reviews, however this place has still left me angry weeks after going. We ordered a jacket potato, which turned out to be hard, bland and tasteless new potatoes with hardly any toppings on them, as well as a ‘halloumi’ sandwich which had hardly anything in it and was made with really hard yet chewy bread. Definitely not worth the money. Asked one of the waitresses for sugar and she grabbed a few packs then chucked them across the table at me without a word. Another waitress snapped at us and was extremely rude and confrontational when we asked if something could be moved out of the way of the aisle so that our table wouldn’t have to keep standing up from our seats for others to pass. Overall, extremely overpriced, bland and tasteless food, sour-faced and rude staff and a horrible atmosphere where customers are treated as second-class citizens.

I had an amazing aromatic espresso, and a tasty panini. The place is incredible.

2 visits to Zee on a stay in Ealing. Very nice, would go back. We had coffee one day and liked the place so went back for breakfast the following day. We had poached egg and salmon. We both commented that there was a slight taste of vinegar. Maybe the eggs were not drained enough or maybe it was something in the sauce. one of our party had an English breakfast which he said was great. The choice of salads, rolls and cakes looked good.

Charged me for eat in then asked me if I want a takeaway which I said yes. Horrible coffee! You could only taste the milk and I had ordered cappuccino!!

Was OK. Good for a quick breakfast. Employees are very nice.

Excellent smoothies, salads and a good club sandwich. It even had that rare thing a raspberry Bakewell slice a much loved favourite in our family. A good find in an area that seems to be largely chain store dominated (all too near a massive Pret most of whose customers would be better off here).

The food was very delicious and I will definitely be ordering this again

When I came to the city, I eagerly went here to drink hot coffee. I think the coffee is top notch ;) I also recommend Cappuccino and cakes ;)

Lovely little cafe with very friendly staff. I had a chai latte which was way to sweet for my liking, I had asked the staff how it’s made out of curiosity (it wasn’t a complained) they showed me the syrup and were happy to make me another one less sweet, which was delicious.

Decent coffee and the food options looked okay. They seemed to have regular customers which indicates consistency of quality and service. However, they must know the air dryer in the toilet is broken (a member of staff was in before me), but there was no tissues to dry my hands.

Nice place. Great food but most importantly very good coffee. Roasted in the back of the shop. Also a nice comfortable section downstairs. They have out door seating in the front. Don't forget to get your frequent flyer card stamped.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A CAFE WITH A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT, this place ISN’T the one (and I say this with passion - hence the caps lock lol). After having a little look around, seems like a lot of people on here feel the same - especially about the race/ discrimination. Such a shame, for a cafe with such pleasing interior & nice food only to be let down by its employees doesn’t the owner/ manager care?? First visit, we got served by a tall blonde lady who at the very start was SO dismissive and for some reason has a phobia of eye contact? Lol looking in a different direction while serving me just overall just had that “i dont wanna be here” attitude. And then later on, I asked the guy barista (short guy, dark hair and wears glasses) for a glass of water and pointed out that it was on the countertop (but somebody clearly forgot to re-fill that section - as it wasn’t there!) and just basically served me with some attitude like I asked for something so drastic. Second visit - we decided to visit again (shocking!) ONLY purely because of the food and AGAIN the service was just as the same. Tall guy with dark hair with a sweater saw us walking out and NOT EVEN a thank you whatsoever. Also, their masala chai was disgusting sorry to say, tasted like it came from a packet but chai latte was nice. I was considering giving a 2 star⭐️ for the food BUT this goes to show that experience matters more sometimes. The only welcoming or friendly person there is probably the lady who delivers the food thats it! Never going back here again and don’t recommend it to anybody. Dear owner, do better at training your staff about customer service - especially in a place like EALING, where competition is on a rise.

Matcha latte had barely any matcha more milk . The food we ordered was cold when I ask him to heat it . Salad not fresh .

Been coming here for years, one of the first ‘proper’ coffee shops to open in Ealing. Does a great flat white, and good breakfast, salads, sandwiches. Dog friendly

Never been really welcomed with a nice hello or a smile. Interaction at the counter is always cold. Tables are sticky and wifi downstairs doesn’t allow you to charge a page or work properly on your laptop. GF options mixed with others items. Super bad for someone coeliac like I am. I gave it multiple shot, I won’t come back.

Great quality of coffee ☕ Variety of pastry and light meals are available.

Staff seemed disinterested, disingenuous, dissatisfied, disappointed, disillusioned

Tall, blond woman with the fringe- incredibly rude and dismissive. She brushed me off when I said I wanted to eat in and proceed to help everyone after me. She told me to go find a seat and gave me a menu. Told her I just wanted to order cake and coffee, but she completely ignored me. Proceeded to sit there for 10 minutes and no one came to take my order. She looked at me but never acknowledged me. Nor did the other workers. They did manage, however; to service the 5-6 customers that showed up after me. I saw a review about a race/discrimination issue with this place. And it makes me question whether this is what I experienced today.

The staff are extremely friendly, kind and patient. The cakes are homemade and delicious. The banana bread is a must to try.

Had vegetarian English breakfast. The eggs were a bit overcooked. Spinaches were a bit dry. The rest was nice. The chicken salad was delicious.

Sincere advice to Muslims - please do not buy from this café, for your own dignity and safety. This is little business does not know the worth of their customers. I feel disheartened about the treatment we received in which we got intentionally delayed service even though we've paid and waited 15 minutes in less-busy time. They served 3 customers who ordered after we've been seated. To the business: you have got some mental health problems about race, you should opt in for diversity and cultural programs which teach you how to coexist with your equals. Seriously, it's about time you leave your little cocoon.

Teníamos tres días para desayunar en la zona de Ealing. Fuimos el primer día y nos gustó tanto que acabamos repitiendo. El servicio fue bastante rápido y la comida y el café estaban muy ricos, sobre todo los pancakes, estaban buenísimos!

The best cup of coffee around Ealing Broadway (and I've tried plenty!). I love the lighting and the cozy atmosphere inside. Been coming here for a while to do some work in the afternoon and it's become my new fave cafe. The staff are respond quickly to any queries and request. Thank you! <3

Buon cibo, porzioni abbondanti. Ho preso uova strapazzate su pane tostato , e cappuccino grande, tutto buonissimo. Ordini alla cassa e ti portano tutto al tavolo. Attesa ragionevole per le preparazioni. Ambiente carino e confortevole, accogliente per rilassarsi prima di iniziare la giornata.

One of the best coffee shops in Ealing lovely staff beautiful smile on the one who bought me my drink. This is the first and last time I will eat food here as the quiche was stone cold

Great eggs breakfast with plenty of fresh avocado and spinach. 5-star cappuccino. Nice and quick service. Very reasonably priced!

i ordered 2 portions of breakfast although i have been there before but unfortunately this time the quality wasn’t good at all, the pouched egg was so hard like a boiled egg, so disappointed

Absolutely terrible, before use to be fantastic...service super unfriendly abd the food quality has gone down to 0....what a shame.

Their breakfast is as bland and stale as the staff. The coffee is a pathetic attempt by the barista. Such a shame because the wooden interior is very welcoming.

Coffee is ground on site and it's very nice, plenty of healthy options and it all looks stunning. Staff are super polite and attentive too.

Came in for brunch before a long drive and the food and drink where great and swift service. Overall great cafe with a nice atmosphere.

I like to work there with my laptop, the wifi is usually stable, and they have gourmet coffee and a wide range of cakes.

Worse avocado toast i ever had in London. It had way too much avocado and a strange topping ( I honestly hope it’s not ketchup). The egg was overcooked.

Good coffee and pastries. But table was not clean when we arrived and wifi not working.

Rude service from the tall blonde ladie and poor communication skills when the orders are taken. I have intolerance to spicy food, and obviously, my specifications were not interpreted accordingly. On the other hand, the coffee and the food are great.

Was worried when I arrived as the place was empty...did not realised it had only just opened, soon filled up with customers. Really nice well presented poached egg on sourdough toast.

Popped in for first time for afternoon tea with family. Nice cuppa and desserts were very nice. Courteous staff and nice atmosphere. Not too crowded around 5ish. Will revisit next time in area.

The cafe is wonderful place to relax inner broadway, not too crowded unlike chain cafe, Starbucks & Costa. Barista don’t rush though coffee making so you can ensure your coffee tastes wonderfully. The cafe is lit perfectly for morning breakfast, not too bright not too dark, just perfect.

Lovely cafe, great coffee and food is excellent, Highly recommended the breakfast panini.

We came with our kids here for the first time and its lovely. Good food and good coffee. If we visit this area next time definitely we will be back.

I love this place for their variety of cakes, and hot chocolates unfortunately the staff here (today at least) is rude and have made my experience unpleasant. The staff were reluctant to share wifi password; even then the wifi is not great if you are looking to work remotely. No plugs to charge.

Flat customer service, the guy didn't bother to reply to our greetings. When asked to warm up the croissant he told: "No, I can't do that, Everyone has croissants this way". We ordered porridge which was ok & English breakfast which was 🤮

Nice cosy atmosphere downstairs. Shame can't be said for the service. Tried to replace sough dough toast for a pancake with avo and poached egg but was told that would cost an additional £8.30. Apparently the manager, who had all the charm of a yeast infection, said she would have to take the maple syrup off the pancake. Maybe don't put it on I replied. Nope £8.30. OK ok I know it's Ealing Broadway, different from my usual luncheon environs. But really. Don't get me started on the standard of the two tea leaves per pot tea.

LARGE mugs of tasty coffee. Really nice, laid back atmosphere and super friendly staff. Also dog friendly, which is a bonus! The food options are quite nice and a few vego options too.

Went in for an afternoon snack, ordered a 'breakfast sandwich' and a 'charcoal latte'. They have a good variety of food, desserts and some special coffees (like this one). The food and drink were great, and the staff were really helpful and nice! Would definitely give more than 5 stars :)

Haven’t visited this place for a while yet the service and still are still extremely friendly and helpful. The vibes are relaxing and chilled and the staff don’t rush the customers which is great. Lighting and space is not overcrowded and the selection of sandwiches and pastries are very nice too!!

Average coffee and food, overall quite expensive considering that when visited the Wi-Fi wasn't working and the toilet was out of order.

I went for a quick coffee and didn't notice there are two sizes, medium and large. The staff didn't even ask which size i would like and decided for me to get two large cups (I suppose because it's more expensive). I honestly don't care about the difference in price, but really dislike this kind of behaviour from local business. The coffee was also average. Won't go there again.

Do not order the pancakes - the worst I even had. Dense and way too sweet! Waste of money. My friend had a hot chocolate was bearable.

Went to order an iced coffee and some snarky man with a typical hipster ponytail told me “sorry we don’t do white girl drinks here.” Then went on serving someone else. Good way to permanently lose a customer!

Just got some takeaway cakes and got gome to find I had been given the tiniest slices. I used to support this place but not sure i will now. Shame

Terrible experience with the coffee charging 4£ for coffee with syrup and only putting one shot of espresso after asking for two shots they wanted to charge more and asked for a small size with two shots and when I got the coffee it was all milk and syrup absolutely terrible coffee staff members were nice and understanding but unfortunately price for coffee quality is very poor.

Visiting, eating in for breakfast. Avocado on toast, perfectly tasty. Smoothy also good, BUT arrived in take away plastic!! Told 'we don't have large glasses'. If I'd known I wouldn't have taken the smoothy. Behind the times, time for change please.

Awful. I ordered a club sandwich which cost nearly £10 and I had to wait about 30 minutes for the kitchen to make it. They warned me that they were out of bacon, but when I opened it at home it turned out they were also out of chicken and lettuce (there was wilted spinach instead of lettuce and no chicken at all). Bread was dismal as well. Maybe google what the club sandwich is before offering it as a part of your menu? Warning to customers: if you order take away make sure you open the box while in the cafe because you never know what they will really put in there.

For the 3rd week in a row, the pancakes with bacon & banana came WITHOUT bacon or banana, and the pancakes were burnt on the underside. One was totally inedible

Lovely breakfast place, have been here many times with friends and family. Definitely recommend and make sure to head downstairs if there’s no space upstairs. It’s lovely and cosy down there.

Service and delivery on point. Standard packaging, food arrived still warm - no faults. The chorizo melt was good however pancakes below average, not sure what type of mixture is used but it’s bland and heavy (not the American style ones that would go with maple syrup or any other topping).

The coffee was very nice but not hot. The dryer was not working in the toilet but there was no paper to dry your hands on. There was no gluten-free cake option which is very rare in a London coffee shop.

Called in twice and enjoyed it both times will be back next time in London.

I really disliked how the manager been acting to his staff he is really rude and I really wasn’t satisfied with their service

We were looking for a lunch venue and hadn't been here for a while. It was really crowded upstairs and downstairs but we managed to find a seat. We shared a chicken pesto sandwich and a mushroom feta roll plus pots of breakfast tea. The quality of everything was excellent and the service was efficient. The cakes are also very good here but we didn't try one on this occasion.

Lovely place, great service from Soroush and the lady manager. They make the best coffees. The lady manager and soroush always smiling. But they have a moody team leader the short guy. I would have given this place 5 star if it wasn't for that moody guy. When his there avoid the place

This place has the most amazing pistachio cake I have never ever tried. I have been waiting for a while to have it but has been worth it. Please keep making that wonderful and delicious cake!!!

La comida es buenísima, es el english breakfast más casero que hemos probado! Calidad precio súper bien y el personal muy amable, volvereré cuando venga de nuevo a Londres! Lo único que diría para mejorar es que no tienen opciones sin gluten.

Poor service. English breakfast was way overpriced for the little amount of food it contained- splashed around the plate even though it could fit on one half of the toast

コーヒー豆を買いに行きました。250g10ポンド弱、500g16ポンド弱です。味は、washedではなくnaturalに似た感じで、あまり好きではないかな… 店員さんの感じは良いですが、あまりコーヒー豆や挽き方に精通している感じではありませんでした。

This café is always relaxing and pleasant to sit in. Oh gosh. My one chance to visit again, and I couldn't find Café Zee. Bummer. Back to Sydney soon.
