We visited on Christmas Eve and The Country Bakery was full, so we needed to wait a while before being seated, which shows how popular this tiny place is considering neighbouring coffee shops in the town were empty. My wife and I ordered a bowl of home-made soup each, which came with a hunk of tasty brown and which we washed down with Earl Grey's tea that was blended specially for this café with additional infusions of lemon peel and rose hip. Delicious! The hearty lentil soup was tasty and filling. The lady who served us was very pleasant and told us a bit about the locality and even provided us with a free map of Dunkeld which highlighted local attractions such as Dunkeld Cathedral, Atholl Memorial Fountain and Dunkeld Bridge over the fast-flowing, whisky-producing River Tay. So, why not 5-'stars'? Unfortunately we were charged a premium to eat-in, which I believed was no longer permissible in the UK? Perhaps I am wrong in my assumption that I should not be charged for eating in, but it is a very long time since any eatery I have been to in Britain has charged me extra to eat the food the sell me on their premises if seating is provided. Thus, I deducted a 'star'.

This is a bakery with a small seated area. We were lucky to pop in mid-afternoon and find some huge cheese scones left! They were very tasty and enjoyed with hot drinks inside. There is also a customer toilet. The bakery seemed popular with locals especially for their range of sausage rolls. Friendly staff.

If you are in Dunkeld you have to stop at the Country Bakery. The food is amazing and the staff are fantastic! We stopped in for lunch and had a collection of sausage rolls, a broccoli and chicken pasty and my husband and I shared a toasted Italian chicken sandwich - oh, my! It was so good that one of our friends had to go and get one too. Of course, we also chose a variety of pastries to take on the coach to eat- unfortunately at our next stop when our driver cleaned the coach, he thought our 'white plastic bag' was a trash bag and threw our tasty treats away. But they looked delicious!!!! Make sure you stop by the Country Bakery - tell them the Americans sent you!

Popped in after work this morning to get one of the mouthwatering giant scones I could see through the window and ended up buying 2 sausage rolls. Pork and black pudding and pork and carmelised onion. Obviously homemade, they were both absolutely beautiful. The carmelised onion one was my favourite. Lovely clean bakery, very friendly and attentive staff. Everything I could see looked so tasty and it took a lot of will power to not buy everything.

We got in just before the shop was closing but the staff didn't batter an eyelid and happily served us. Between us we had both the cheese and fruit scones...what can I say. Our for an afternoon run through the exquisite small roads all over Angus and Perthshire, after a brief stop in Always Beautiful Blairgowrie, my wife and I alighted in Atholl Street, Dunkeld, in search of some sustenance untouched by corporate greed. We decided on the aptly titled "Country Bakery" as it looked as though it might fit the bill ... and, it did. We ordered light snacks each with tea and were served quickly and with the most charming and delicious hand-made food one could possibly hope for. The place is run by a lovely couple who take a pride in their fare and keep a very tight grip on their customers' needs ️ and further, their splendidly clean, well-decorated, dapper eaterie ... in that very lovely and busy tourist town.

My boyfriend and I stopped here for some lunch on arriving in Dunkeld. The staff were all very friendly and the service efficient. The food was nice (I had lentil soup and a chicken tikka roll, my boyfriend the cooked breakfast) although I do think a bit pricey in the case of the cooked breakfast-£7.50 and he didn't get as big a plate as expected for that price, although he did still enjoy it. We were able to get a table just in the window and whilst it isnt table service after a couple of minutes someone was over asking what our order was. I have to say the menu is pricey - £6.5 for a pannini, you wouldn't pay that in a cafe in Edinburgh so not sure how they can get away with charging it in Dunkeld - obviously tourists pay for it. We stopped here for lunch during our Scottish road trip last week. A decent selection of food and drink on offer; maybe slightly pricier than I'd expect for that part of the world, but then again, it is tourist country. Anyway, as I was paying the bill I said to the man "my great grandparents used to run a bakery in the town 100 years ago", which indeed they did. He then said "hold on, that lady over there knows all about the history of the town" and pointed me in the direction of the lady who lived next door and had just popped in for some soup. I explained to this lady that my great grandparents, the Jack's, ran a bakery in the town in the 1900s and she said "yes, they did, in this very building". A bit of a wow moment!

We were visiting dunked with family and fancied a coffee/tea/hot chocolate.we saw this place and it looked lovely.the staff were not very friendly.we also had our 4month old baby with us. I went to change my baby and was shocked to find a tiny toilet cubical with no changing facilities.this is not only for parents with babies but also for people with less mobility as there is no space to move in the toilets.when people come in with buggies you should be letting them know there is no changing facilities before you let them spend money.very disappointed!!!

I am a local resident in Dunkeld, this morning I fancied a cooked breakfast and popped into the country 'bakery'. I ordered a full breakfast, pot of tea and a can of coca cola. My 'full breakfast' appeared 10 minutes later and consisted of two cheap pork sausages, tough to chew as they had quite obviously been reheated, two rashers of bacon which were cold to touch, covered in some kind of salty fatty sludge, one 'fried' egg, cooked by someone who can't cook an egg as the bottom was burnt into an inedible plastic like sheet. one large tomato, grilled on the very outside and completely raw on the inside and a healthy dollop of baked beans which were fine but then how wrong can you go with baked beans from a can? All of this was accompanied by three slices of toast. I decided to leave and got up to pay, asked how much and was left reeling when I heard "That'll be £10 please" It turns out that what passes for a full breakfast in the Country 'Bakery' Dunkeld costs no less than £6.80. That's £6.80 for some beans, 2 microwave reheated rashers of pre-cooked disgusting grimy bacon, 2 disgustingly tough and chewy pre-cooked microwave reheated cheap sausages, a raw tomato and a burnt egg. oh and some toast. Absolutely disgusting.

I have no complaints about the quality of the food, but I did have to send it back because the steak bridie's were cold in the middle.

Stopped off in Dunkeld to see the ospreys at Loch of the Lowes, and came across this gem of a bakery cum cafe. So friendly staff, and a very yummy all day breakfast. Mouthwatering....

We were staying at a nearby caravan site over the Easter holidays and almost lived in this place!! With a husband and three kids in tow you need somewhere that's fast, friendly and catering for the varying needs of a young family - food must suit all and be as purse friendly as possible. This place met all these criteria. To be honest, I don't think any of us had the same thing twice. Excellent range of sandwiches, pies, quiche and cakes, not to mention their home made bread. The weather was good too!!!

At the end of one the most stunning long drives in Scotland is this hidden gem. Situated by the edge of the River Lyon, surrounded by robins and swallows, we enjoyed a relaxed lunch of delicious tomato and pepper soup, quiche and a warm pastrami panini. Accompanied by coffee and lapsang souchong tea and served by warm and charming staff. Magical!

We haven’t been to the inn for a while. But as Sunday lunch here has always been good we headed north for a family treat. And treat it was! They have a new chef, Thomas, who introduced himself to us (and other diners) and was keen to know if we had enjoyed our meal. We had! This is not a traditional Sunday roast - it’s above and beyond better. The gravy was sublime. I asked what was in it and he said chicken stock and a lot of love! Treat yourself this is the best ❤️

Lovely location, good service and great food. We had bacon rolls, an egg roll, followed by scones & cakes, all were excellent. Will definitely be back on our next visit to the area.
