The Auld Smiddy Inn in Perth & Kinross

Under new owners this pub has been very much improved. We have been to pitlochry many times. We had Sunday lunch and it was fabulous would really recommend. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Some portions are small, but the food is tasty. Friendly staff and clean place.

It is trying to punch above it's weight but not quiet there Best stick to the sandwiches. Otherwise rather expensive.

I had the curry night special and it was excellent value - and was truly delicious.

Had a great night at the auld smiddy. The atmosphere was fabulous which only comes from good vibes, this place has that. Lovely food, great service and a lovely bunch of staff. Keep up the good work Tony and crew.... Just get the strawberry daiquiris going 😂... Tony knows!!! I did have a light lunch on the Sunday, haggis bon bons with whisky sauce. Omg I loved them. I'll be having my Sunday roast before going home next time... It looked delicious!!! The music the night we were there was 3 young local lads, they were so good. They did a range of different cover songs and they did a great job. See you soon, ya all..

Stopped by for birthday lunch, greeted warmly and offered lunch even though was like 2mins before food orders stopped. Tasty food had the venison pie.

So I've been in a lot of pubs . Part of my life. Must be said the service in five separate visits over a month so far has been amazing . Properly looked after drinks. Friendly smiling staff . Very clean pub . Lovely pub food . For a tourist based location it's surprising to see standards so high and service so friendly. Thank you .

We had a big family meet up. The pub set the table very well for ten people. The service was excellent and the food delicious, thank you.

Sad to say very disappointing. Waiting staff polite and efficient otherwise the eating experience very poor. Had venison pie with " seasonal steamed vegetables". Unfortunately, the pie was dry and the vegetables consisted of one half of a small carrot and a small cauliflower stalk. Spoke to a local couple sitting next to us who ate little of their meal, later saying to us that food there was very good on some days and awful on others....Oh, and meals are expensive. Staff, however, gave us a 10% discount once we quietly pointed out our dissatisfaction....

Went in for an evening meal. Not looking for much so picked a salad. Very nice. Staff friendly and efficient - will be on the top of our list next time we’re in Pitlochry. Needed gluten free and, whilst their menu doesn’t list specifics, the staff clearly knew what was needed and were able to point out options (and what would be changed to suit).

Went in on a busy Saturday night, wasn’t expecting to be able to get a table - however they did have a table free. Staff were all excellent, friendly and all very attentive. Food was great, table service was great - prices were very reasonable and had a fantastic chilled out evening sat in the restaurant. Would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone.

Basic pub grub which is insanely overpriced. They’ve clearly upped their prices to cash in on the enchanted forest. I wouldn’t have minded if the food and service matched the cost but it really didn’t. If you’re going to pay £10-£12 for a starter, you expect it to be Michelin standard. We waited 25 minutes for tap water, and when we asked about it we’re told abruptly that the bar was very busy. We had ordered plenty of bar drinks as well which came fairly promptly, so assume they just weren’t prioritising anything which didn’t make them money. Which kind of sums this place up.

It was our first visit,didn't eat there,drink prices were not to bad,friendly staff and good Atmosphere.

Very cozy pub, good food, dogs allowed inside. The Scottish atmosphere is warm and friendly.

Food was great. We expected the decor to be more historical, tham modern.

Amazing Sunday Roast. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We are on Holiday at Milton on Fonab. Were given complimentary drinks. Great atmosphere plenty of ales to choose from which made Hubby happy. Will definitely be back before we leave.

Excellent food! Beautiful and delicious salad. Only tea I had in the UK made w loose leaf. A place to return to frequently.

This is a fantastic pub. From the food to the service to the atmosphere - everything was absolutely spot on. It has a great look and feel inside and out. We came to town for one night and picked this as it looked good, authentic and local. The local beer - Smitty lager - is a very clean beer and worth a pint. They have a good selection of whiskies including local ones. And lastly, the cheesecake is delicious.

Not the best, not the worst. Food looks nice, but were too oily, everyone felt very heavy after.

We've only been to Pitlochry twice and dined here both times because it's that good. Between the excellent assortment of pours, plus a nicely inventive menu, this is the place to stop for discerning diners who want more than your standard fare. The servers are all so kind and friendly as well and the dining room is both modern and cozy.

Very friendly staff, very accommodating for us as a larger group. Food was good as well, definitely a recommendation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. 3 of us and we all had something different and we all said how good it was. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Atmosphere was very welcoming We would have had a little walk back to our hotel but staff arranged for a taxi to pick us up All in all a very enjoyable visit.

It’s the town centrepiece. The true Scottish pub experience. Loved the food. Loved the ambiance and even more loved the service. Made my day worth it. Probably one of the best places to get a good drink in town.

Lovely meal with a lovely atmosphere. Staff were friendly and prompt. Lots of space and room to eat outside if wanted. Prices were reasonable. The best meal we have had since being in pitlochry. Definitely would rate this higher.

Try the cask ales here - won’t get this in the States! Second time here and wonderful again.

Good friendly staff with good range of beers and food.

We arrived unannounced with a small dog and were given a lovely friendly welcome. Drinks menu is extensive and the Dinner menu was outstanding. Food arrived promptly and piping hot, beautifully presented and served by friendly and helpful staff. Food was deliciously tasty and cooked just right. However, while the pudding was well presented and tasty, disappointingly Chef seems to be unaware that the Scots dish "Cranachan" is in fact a concoction made from Raspberries, cream and whisky. Overall a delicious Italian meal, thank you we will be back.

What a gem of a pub. I just had an ox cheek starter but it was superb. The staff and atmosphere were excellent.

We went to this place on our recent visit. We had seen reviews on the internet showing food. The meal we went in for the Seafood Platter was no longer available, was 3 years out of date. Very expensive food and drink. No atmosphere. Would not return. Thank you for your response. It was your serving staff that told us the menu was 3 years out of date. Our budget is not in question if the food drink and service were worth the price we would have paid gladly as we have at many other establishments. You were not there at the time of our visit so you cannot possibly comment on our experience. You may have many satisfied customers but we were not. My husband drinks premium lager of which there was none. He was offered a local lager which he took a pint of. He left half of it and bought a pint of cider instead. Like I said the Seafood Platter was what we specifically came for how are we to know there are 2 web sites. When we asked about ti's meal and showed a picture if it the serving staff told us that menu is 3 years out of date. Not a word about there being 2 Web sites. So maybe your staff need to be retrained. I understand you don't like negative comments but you are providing a service which we are paying for so we are entitled to have an opinion.

The best pub we've encountered on our journey so far. You can really feel the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The menu, besides the standard fish and chips, offers other delicious and interesting dishes, which can't be said for other restaurants in the area. I really liked excellent beetroot salad and vegan eggplant dish. The interior is newly decorated and cozy, they have a beautiful garden, the staff is very friendly, and you can clearly see that the restaurant is run by people who truly care.

Had the steak sandwich, truly inedible, steak looked okay but could not be chewed enough to make it edible. Service was very good and the atmosphere was good.

Amazing Sunday Roast. We popped in for lunch with 3 generations of our family. Everyone chose the roast lunch although there were plenty of other options. Some of us had lamb, some had beef. All came with a Yorkshire pudding, seasonal veg, roast potatoes, parsnips and lots of fantastic real gravy. I don't often rave over a roast dinner, they are easy enough to cook but honestly,this one was perfect. No complaints from my moderately fussy family either. No starters but a few of us had a dessert. Sticky toffee pudding and creme brule were very good. Service was friendly and efficient, accessibility was excellent with parking nearby. Great atmosphere too. I can't praise this restaurant highly enough.

A great choice if you're in the area. Quick service, lovely location, two ales on tap, and dog friendly. The roast was delicious but the vegetarian pie was just okay, it was more like a chili, and the portion size was small. Still, a very good experience and I would recommend it.

Great little pub, friendly staff and great food.

We found ourselves staying overnight in Pitlochry, so decided to have a drink and something to eat here. Looks very welcoming from the outside with colourful window flowers and hanging baskets, large black and white umbrellas and a lovely beer garden. Good drink selection but unfortunately wine glass had lipstick on it, it was quickly replaced but really shouldn't have happened in the first instance. We moved inside to eat, the interior is OK, we were given a table through the back but immediately asked to sit in the front, the back is lacking atmosphere and was empty. Good food choices however we weren't told about the specials which was a shame 😕. The 2 chaps behind the bar were great, always happy and very efficient, I think 1 was Lewis? The girls were more interested in chatting to each other, giggling and chewing gum when serving and talking, really disgusting.

I ate chicken burgers there, I can only recommend it, it was very tasty and the service was very nice

Excellent meal! We had the chicken and black pudding pie, the haggis Bon Bons, and the ox cheek. Fast service despite being busy, and everything was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.

Great food. Some of the best puddings in Scotland, the plum gnocchi were an inspiration. Atmosphere low scored as the music is far too loud. Diners have to shout at each other to have a conversation. Oh well!

Stopped here for a Sunday roast as it had good reviews and I was excited to try the cauliflower cheese. There is no parking on site but down the road opposite you can find a pay-and-display car park. The village is really busy so you can struggle for parking. We enquired before arriving about booking and they said just walk in but then said once the roasts were sold out that was it. At that point we quickly rushed to get ready so we didn't miss out, not had this before when booking a Sunday roast. The place was lovely and decor great, lots of staff from all over the world working here. So great to hear different accents and get to know them. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the roast... there was no cauliflower cheese and it's even advertised on the website so I was extremely disappointed. The sirloin (only option) was a bit fatty for my liking but otherwise, it did melt in the mouth and fall to pieces. Would have wanted more gravy than what was given. The price was ok but wouldn't return for a roast again. When we finished we sat outside in the garden and had a drink which was lovely. Clean and tidy place

Food choice was very limited to say the least, it was not of the quality I would have expected from this place, although this is based on previous visits, so I don’t know if it has changed ownership, there were 4 of us, and we ordered 2 starters and 4 main meals, the main meals were 2 of their pies, and 2 chicken burger meals, we got 3 pies and 1 chicken burger, why a chicken burger is on a supposedly top class restaurant I don’t know, as per everything else we found in Pitlochry the price of everything is ridiculous, would never eat here again, and would have serious thoughts of spending any time in Pitlochry in future due to their ridiculous price structure in all the hospitality establishments

Restaurants in Pitlochry There is no special menu, but the food is delicious. Good interior design.

Really recommended! During our motorcycle tour we visited this restaurant for our dinner. We were lucky to get a table (5 people) as it was very full. The food was very, very tasty, as was the beer (tip: "Black Heart", a black beer comparable to Guinness).

The eggs Benedict with black pudding was perfect.

Enjoyed an exquisite alfresco lunch here on a glorious afternoon. Delicious food and top service from kind folks. Rock up and enjoy....

Excellent meal. fabulous staff going above and beyond especially the Croation barman. Thank you so much!!! Special meal for my husband's birthday. Only drawback exceedingly noisy party of 7 men so loud could hardly hear ourselves speak, and that obviously not the fault of the restaurant. Great place to stop for a drink and food in Pitlochry. Plenty of outdoor and I door seating and all staff are really friendly. Food prices are a little cheaper here than other places in the town, and the taste is amazing.

Amazing food! I forgot to take pictures but the desert (coffee cake with ice cream and caramel sauce) was the best I had in life! I’d recommend to order with an extra ice cream scoop

Good quality food but we asked for bread to accompany a salad and were very surprised to see the addition to the bill of 6 pounds. Certainly the bread was very good and we know that it is never provided like in France but the 4 slices of white bread are expensive.

Wow! This place exceeded my expectations! I was expecting an slightly updated pub, but the food was much higher quality, beautifully presented, and delicious! The atmosphere was friendly with buzzing conversations and laughter on a Friday night. Servers were attentive. Highly recommend.

Visited for a drink with work mates. Had a good time

Nipped in after a long drive and decided to eat somewhere. Never expected the food to be so good. I had the lamb special and my partner had the venison pie. Cleared my plate and I wasn't even that hungry. We have ate out a lot lately and this is the best food we have had by far. Have already decided to go back next time we have a run in the car. Staff were great and friendly.

Stopped off here on a Tuesday for a late lunch, happy to find there was a small car park out back. Had the burger which was very good, and a great portion size. Prices seemed good for the area. It had a nice atmosphere. Would recommend if you are looking for a good sit down lunch in Pitlochry.

A cozy restaurant with very nice staff and delicious food. I had the Chicken and Black Pudding Pie (delicious 😋), 3 Auld Smiddy Lagers and a whiskey. I paid around £50. The building itself has a great charm. I would go back to the Auld Smiddy Inn at any time. 👍

The welcome and service here were excellent. We hadn't booked but managed to get a seat okay and the place was pretty busy. The food was delicious and I went for the seafood linguine, which was cooked to perfection and tasted great. My daughter had the burger which was packed with beef and my wife the beetroot salad. It was really lovely and to top it all I enjoyed a couple of pints of Black Heart Stout, very smooth, went down nice and easy but didn't make me feel bloated. Thank you all for a lovely experience!

We had the best roast dinner of our trip here, plus the server makes a great margarita! Lots of locals at the bar, which is a ton of fun. We came back Monday night for drinks, and had a great time. Really friendly bunch of Celtics fans at the bar. Had lots of laughs.
