The Auld Smiddy Inn in Perth & Kinross

What an excellent place this pub turned out to be! The quality of the food was nothing short of amazing—everything was delicious and well-prepared. What really set our experience apart, though, was the incredible staff. They were not just welcoming but went out of their way to be helpful and friendly, which greatly enhanced our visit. The pub itself boasts a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Highly recommended for a delightful meal in a warm and inviting setting!

We had a Sunday roast here a few months ago and it was excellent. Had no idea you also owned Zinfandel which is just around the corner from us and we loved so much as my partner is Croatian - absolutely gutted to see it’s gone, we will miss you!

Just went in for a drink but staff were lovely. The pub has a roaring real fire that they keep well fed.

we wanted to go to the toilet, a waitress came to us and said "only customers are allowed to go to the toilet". we said we would have a drink. After drinking a cappuccino we left again. the waitress followed us cattily with the message "I told you that you can only go to the toilet if you are a customer". we said we had a cappuccino. she didn't believe this and walked away pissed

Worth the visit. Great place to eat, amazing food. But you must book it is very busy but worth it. And it's dog friendly 😀😀

Lively atmosphere with comfortable interior and nice decor

A lovely day, well looked after by the staff. We had the fish platter and haggis bon bons both of which were fab. The fries are hot, fresh n crispy 😋

Such a great place for Mothers Day lunch! The Sunday roast was fantastic ! The bread was amazing. We also had the chicken salad… it was good, but we’d all wished we’d order the roast! Great service in a cute town! Great stop in our roaming tour!

Great wee pub at the end of the main street, it was next to our hotel and we dropped in for drinks, Warm and snug bar with a wood burner going, good selection of local beers and the staff were friendly, has a good vibe to it 👌

Maybe the quickest visit ever - popped in for a half pint during my brief tour bus stopover. The vibe and staff were lovely and wish I could have stayed longer.

Wow!! What a great place. Food and drinks were delicious! The staff made the experience absolutely fantastic and had a big impact as they were really lovely, welcoming, helpful and very friendly. There are gluten free options available and I couldn't rate it any higher. Definitely visiting again! I highly recommend the Sunday roast. It had an atmosphere of a lovely family running the place who were really proud of it and made sure everyone was catered and happy. Thank you!

The food was amazing as was the service. Nothing too much trouble. Stayed for a few drinks after our meal and were treated to a young 3 piece band playing a mix of music. Good choice of beers to choice from and priced fairly compared to normal Pitlochry prices

Lovely little place right at the end of the street. Easy to miss if you don't walk far enough and what a mistake that would be. Lovely Sunday Lunch in cosy comfortable surroundings and the service was excellent

Popped in for a quick post-walk pint, friendly bar staff and we settled in next to the warmth of the welcoming fire. A lovely little place.

Its difficult to know what to specify as the best part of our experience at the Auld Smiddy as every element of it excelled expectation. Primarily, perhaps most importantly, the service had that personal touch that made you feel like you had been frequenting for years. The food, as flawless on the palette as immaculately presented and the beverage selection, spoiled for choice. Not a place to be passed on any culinary itinerary of the North of Scotland.

Beautiful venue, ambience, quality of everything and the staff are wonderful. Cannot recommend enough.

Stopped off on way home with family for a late lunch. Staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. Food was good fair price and nice atmosphere. Would go again and would definitely recommend.

Stopped in at The Auld Smiddy while visiting Pitlochry. Enjoyed a couple of pints in this warm and cosy pub with a fireplace. The owner and bar staff were very welcoming and friendly. Didn't eat a meal but the menu had some really great sounding meals on it.

Reasonable prices in an expensive town , great personal service , REAL ale & home cooked menu. My favourite place to eat.

This was a lovely dinner. When we arrived, the music was rather loud but they turned it down, which we appraciated. We shared a Piri Piri prawn starter, which was nice and spicy. We both had pasta main courses, my wife had a seafood linguine, and I had a spicy sausage pasta, I can't remember the exact name. Both delicious. Nice glass of wine, friendly staff. No complaints at all.

Love this pub. We ate here twice on our short trip to Tayside. Really good food and beer and good choice of wines. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Probably the best eatery in Pitlochry

From the get-go, the cozy vibes 🛋️ and friendly faces 😄 made me feel right at home. The Steak ciabatta sandwich was a culinary masterpiece 🥩🥖—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. A round of applause to the chef! 👏 My buddies were equally wowed by their dishes: the split pea soup 🥣 was like a warm hug on a chilly day, and the Fish and chips 🐟🍟 were the talk of the table—golden, crunchy, and oh-so-satisfying. And oh, the drinks! 🍻🍷 Your extensive menu had our heads spinning with choices—in the best way possible. We raised our glasses to a fantastic meal and great company 🥂. Kudos to you all for such an outstanding experience. I visited today for the first time, although I know Pitlochry well from hill-walking up here from Perth. I was made to feel very welcome on my own and wanted to say how nice an experience you can have if the atmosphere is good and the staff make you feel welcome. Thank you - I will be back - the wine is a good price as well!

Great place to stop in for food. Lots of choice, we loved the wee plates (we had the ox cheeks, haggis and flatbread and they were all delicious) with lots of variety. Vibrant bar, attentive staff, great customer service, good value and delicious food. 10/10

Vincent’s 60th Birthday A family Sunday dinner for15 went very smoothly due to the waitress who was first class serving and looking after the table right through the afternoon. We were up in Pitlochry for a break and booked in for a meal our first night. It was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. In fact it was so good we booked for the next three nights too. Each night the food was just perfect. Thank you to all the staff for making us feel welcome and for the wonderful food and service. Was in the area for the Enchanted forest and have eaten here before. It's changed owners since we were last here but is still a fabulous wee place, we had a table beside the fire which was nice and cosy. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. Will definitely dine here again.

What a super restaurant this is! The fact that it is our third visit there says it all. The service, the food, the atmosphere, the selection on the menu - they were all great! I am sure there will be a fourth visit on another trip to Pitlochry.

Very busy traditional pub, varied menu,fish & chips was a variety of pieces of different fish ,prawns, scampi etc which was interesting.Venison stew very tasty.Dog friendly too

Fantastic foid and great service

La comida era muy buena para las cosas que se encuentran en Escocia. Tenía alguna opción vegetariana (aunque no muchas). El personal fue encantador. Lo recomiendo! El ambiente era local, me gustó mucho. Me encantó la cerveza que tienen del propio pueblo.

We visited before going to the Enchanted Forest, first time we have been since it was taken over by new owners and I have to say the food was amazing. Mussels and ox cheek to start and the venison stew and chicken with wild mushrooms for mains. All of it tasted lovely and the staff and service were great too!

Great quality pub with great quality food for very reasonable prices. We took our 2 dogs in and they were lovely, even offering dog biscuits. Highly recommend the fish n chips tempura, the portions were a good size and staff were lovely.

I personally loved my meal in The Auld Smiddy Inn, I had tempura seafood platter, which was delicious. My friends had a couple of niggles. One of them had a burger, and the meat inside was a bit rare. My other friend ordered gin with lemonade twice and got gin and tonic twice! The girl who served us was extremely friendly and helpful though and the gin was changed no problem. I'm sure if my friend who had the burger had complained, the problem would have been resolved. All in all, it was a lovely place to eat, and the meal was competitively priced.

I do a lot of hiking and foraging in this area as it is a handy location by train from Edinburgh and usually go to local competition but visited here today and found food much better than elsewhere. Will definitely be back!

Im ganzen Ort das einzige Lokal/Restaurant/Pub mit Flair. Großartig für einen Drink, aber unbedingt das Essen versuchen. In der Küche steht jemand, der weiß wie es geht. Bestes Essen in Schottland, so fare. Und der lokal Whisky am Ende! Wir kommen wieder

Excellent cooking & service. We were there on an evening with a live band playing scottish pub songs (w/ keyboard, guitar, accordion naturally). The lead singer walked around the place with a microphone getting the crowd involved. Grand fun if you've had a few wee ones.

Iets na de middag geluncht, nou ja, meer gedineerd. Vriendelijke bediening. Goed glas rode wijn, lekker bruin biertje. Eten goed. Ja, gewoon lekker goed voor een bar/ restaurant. En om je heen gezellige bezoekers die allemaal tevreden kijken. Wat meer achterin zitten de gasten voor een drankje, of twee.. Komen we weer in Pitlochry, gaan we er vast weer wat eten. Smakelijk dus!

Good tasty homemade food (or at least locally sourced beef patties). Nice and warm inside but lacking a bit of soft background music :-). Take note that if you sit near the main entrance you will be hit with cold air when guests enter.

This venue rocks- I will take away a fab memory of Pitlochry from here for dining atmosphere and service. Mind it was Saturday night busy busy but they were highly organised and delivered. Can thoroughly recommend Mussell crab salad, scallops and haggis arancini, mussels in light creamy juis and ox cheeks in wine. Compliments to the crew behind the scenes in the engine room, TKU to the lovely boys and girls running front of house so well under constant pressure to make everyone’s visit here memorable. So lucky to have had the talented three boy band serenading the guests completing the ambience of the evening. Just loved this place. Bravo 🙏

Really lovely gastro pub in the centre of town. Excellent choice of cask & keg ale. Dog friendly throughout. Excellent cooking, recommend the mussel starter & venison stew. What makes the pub stand out for us is the excellent customer service. My husband had ordered the wrong main mistakenly (entirely his own fault) and the waiter swapped it for another dish with such speed & kindness. Great place, I hope we get to come back.
