The Counting House in Glasgow City

Unfortunately worked here more than I’ve eaten, fantastic vibe about the place right in Glasgow city center on George Square overlooking the City Chambers.

Typical Witherspoon's,my rose was not chilled,the service was ok,the atmosphere 😕

Good view of George Square and the lunatic asylum at the other side of it. Have a beer whilst watching the world go by.

It's such a beautiful place. The staff are lovely and helpful. I would have given them a full 5 stars for the food, but unfortunately, they served me a non vegetarian sausage when i had ordered one.

The place was SUPER busy on a Saturday afternoon. Was lucky enough to get a seat. Food was ok, as you'd expect from a Witherspoon.

food is usually satisfactory but rarely enough although as I normally just eat here or any wetherspoons for it's prices it's like having a lunch not a full meal therefore satisfactory. the service is always good albeit you have to go to the bar to order therefore you're doing some of the service yourself but still good nevertheless. again the atmosphere is what you make it as there's never any music or entertainment in these sites so it's down to you to make your own atmosphere.

For a Witherspoon pub it was a nice friendly place

Had one drink here but not enough staff behind the bar when the place is busy as it was when we were in.

Sitting on the bank of George Square and Queen Street station, this place is quite perfect for grabbing a pint or cuppa or some freshly made warm food to encounter the wet and rainy day in Glasgow.

Half the advertised beers weren’t available. They’d run out off of some of the most popular items on the menu, and the service was worse than slow. A nice building tho.

We only popped in for a quick drink as we were too early for our lunch booking elsewhere. Decent drink and polite bar staff. Might come back for a bite to eat next time

Standard spoons cheap drink central location outside and inside tables. Loo is downstairs not up 10 flights which is nice.

Well priced food and the place has interesting architecture.

Came in mid afternoon and it was chaos at the bar (busy wise. Barstaff seemed to ignore us and serve folk either side of us until my wife asked if we were invisible. Eventually got served and went to find a seat. We left after one drink. When it's quiet in here it's a really nice pub in a fantastic setting and food is always good but at peak times its not enjoyable.

Me and my friends were enjoying a lovely pre cinema meal at this establishment, when we decided to create a master piece of engineering. A salt house of cards. It was then that a so called worker of this establishment conspired with his colleague to purposely knock down said art. Fortunately a kind patron informed us of this transgression and as such we shan't be returning.

Large old bank, plenty of space, no different from any other weatherspoon pub. It's a beautiful and spacious venue, do pop in for a pint, sample an interestingly named real ale!

Very busy pub just off George Square in Glasgow, staff were friendly and helped us find a seat. If your looking for drink and pub grub this is a good place, cheap and cheerful. I would recommend 😁

Big pub so people go to it, Food is terrible not even adequate like it used to be, I had the runs after eating the Chicken basket, spent most of my time in the loo whilst there.

Food is beyond terrible, but it's a nice venue with cheap drinks so that's good.

Breakfast arrived cold after a long wait, as we were hurrying to catch a bus we didn't have time to get replacements. Barman asked if all ok, we said no, he just said sorry about that I'll speak to kitchen staff, that was it. Won't be back!

Cane in after being wrecked the night before and was hoping the breaksfast would cure me and sadly it didn’t, half was amazing but half was so burnt I wanted to cry.

Rubber microwave scrambled egg microwave sausage bacon mushroom. Chefs be a shamed if your machines aren't working. Think and work harder

We had a blast. This is a place for drinks not food. The atmosphere for a tourist from Miami was fabulous. Beer excellent and cheap. People coming and going. Soccer fans singing constantly and there is no TV so they r just big time fans. Love the place.

Buzzing atmosphere. Tables covered in empty plates making it look dirty. Slow service but it was extremely busy.

As usual with a Witherspoon's the place is huge and it has a large selection of drinks available. Unusually the toilets aren't a 3 day trek from the bar which was a nice surprise. Service was great and always came with a smile.

Didn't have food, but the atmosphere and service were excellent friendly staff. Definitely recommend

Noisy .No atmosphere.Ok for a stop off while waiting for bus or train.Food average to bad.Breakfast on cold plates just awful. Therefore if you want a coffee or a pint its ok fir a short stay .

Staff were so rude, had some budgies in a small travel cage and when told to go out side - absolutely fine with that! I completely understand. But then told immediately to finish our drinks outside and to LEAVE the outside sitting. Dogs are allowed outside, so why can’t an enclosed animal stay be allowed outside. Actually disgusting behaviour and rudeness. When asked about take away cutlery, the manager told us to finish our drinks and leave.

Beautiful building right in the middle of Glasgow. Very busy and the toilets are a bit of a trek away but overall a nice spoons for a quick drink.

Decent enough food is ok average for most wetherspoons

Went for lunch, food arrived quickly, had a lovley steak that was well cooked. Oftern steaks are over cooked but mine was perfect. We washed this down with a few drinks. Great affordable boozy lunch

Management were not easy to make aware the food was cold when given and the only polite person was a guy behind the bar I don't like this company now after going to a lot throughout the country

Busy, cheap and cheerful drinks

I've got to admit the atmosphere and service are good in this establishment, however the food is over priced and lacks in portion size. Quality of the food isn't a issue (it's as good as it gets from what you would expect from frozen food or boil in the bag). For a company that invests in trying to offer something for everyone is lacking here, theirs plenty of alcohol however non alcoholic beverages lacks behind a alcoholics dream selection. Being family friendly, I would expect more variety. I ordered food and a non alcoholic drink via the app and was served within 10 minutes in a busy pub. Top notch service

This place was very busy and popular, we ordered pizza and my partner had steak dinner,the service was very quick,ordered drinks and very quick to deliver,would recommend this place for a quick meal..

Great place. Great atmosphere. Packed up but I luckily found table for me and my friends. And of course we ordered pints of Tennent.

Absolutely shocking service. Basically had the food thrown at us... There you go crack on..... Awful, wouldn't recommend....

Used to enjoy this pub but the woman responsible for cleaning the toilets (Joy I believe her name was) was extremely rude to me. She was not happy that I wanted to use toilet roll to dry my hands and yelled at me for it and told me never to come back to the toilets again. I am in shock and cannot see why she would be so rude to me over my decision as to how I wanted to dry my hands.. definitely not a pleasant experience

Met a nice guy meditating outside... trying to use the force but too many Rays no noticing him... 😎 apparently a CH boss Cersei Lannister type wasn't very nice to are Connor... May require a bit more empathy training... apart from that bar staff nice and quick and friendly. Pretty Good 👍🏻

Dunno about ghe food but .....I would say.....it is....a.... Pre-football venue for the masses ,in particular the famous Glasgow rangers 💙.......💙, Prob better when your top of the league ,top of the league ,....😁💙, Hee hee

Very few staff actually serving at the bar all very well having app order and pay but not everyone chooses to use this option. On a positive the food looked good

Very nice building. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was normal Spoons menu not overpriced and arrived quickly. Very quiet but was early Monday morning

Great for a quick and reasonable meal, breakfasts were very good value and both I had were excellent.

Disappointed with bar service. Myself and another customer stood for ages at the bar waiting to be served. Eventually I had to shout at them to be served and even that was a struggle for them. I would hate to think what it was like when the pub is busy.

I keep forgetting how good it is in here. Good place to come if you're looking to have a chat & a drink without loud music blaring. The food was also good, not too over budget to have a bite to eat, and the service was quick. I would keep in mind to come again.

One of the most stunning interiors to a pub i have been in. Architectural splendour. I had a large Scottish Veggie breakfast , food was decent for the price and was at my table within minutes.

Dismal. Sorry. All the charm of a 1960s British Rail cafe. The waitress was lovely, but that's it. I made three selections from theeni, all were 'off'. I made a choice, the black pudding was dried out to a biscuit-like state, and the scrambled egg had been on the hot plate for 30 minutes. The place was cold so the already lukewarm food froze quickly. Carpets threadbare. Shan't return.

Stopped here on a very wet afternoon. What an amazing building and has a great atmosphere. It's the normal wetherspoons meun so you know what's on offer. The staff are very friendly and had a warm welcome. Food was well priced and very well presented.

Original pub. Variety of drinks, good service and not very expensive. Battle food that is. Good atmosphere and no need to download any app as I have seen in previous comments. But if you pay before they serve you
