Tennents Bar in Glasgow City

They actually served a guy who was covered in his own filth. Utterly disgusting. Pub should be shut down. It serves food for god's sake. They should have called the police. Disgrace.

Arranged to meet two different groups of friends over two weeks for lunch and beers. Kitchen closed on both occasions. This place is living on past reputation and staff don't look interested. Sadly not close to being the pub it was. At least there's plenty other vibrant places close by that welcomed our custom.

Very poor. We are Irish visitors to the city - Glasgow is a fantastic city but unfortunately this premises is a poor representation. Took family and the staff were very disinterested and not a true reflection of the friendly and hospitable people that I know this city is famous for. I would avoid.

My friend who was over from Ireland booked a booth to watch the World Cup rugby. We had been in since 6pm eating and drinking. As a party of 7 we were having a lovely evening until 8.42 when we were asked to leave as one of the party was 16! This was hugely disappointing as it was only halftime in the ed Ireland vs NZ match, We confirmed the age of this person was ok when we made the booking verbally as we weren’t sure so we didn’t book online. The person asking us to leave wasn’t listening as we were attempting to clarify our booking, and also the fact that they had happily served us food and drink up until this point. The 16 year old had 1 glass of water since we arrived. I appreciate licensing laws, however? Tenants appeared to suit themselves with regards to service as happily accepted the booking and ignored the obvious minor as it suited their till takings! Give this place a miss if you want a pleasant night out!

So Tennents bar in Byres Road first allowed women to enter bar in the 1970,s the last bar in Glasgow to do so are they going to wait another hundred years before they get with the times again and allow families to dine with their kids. Not even a baby in pram allowed!! Made plans to meet niece who has just had a baby website not clear on wether kids allowed so on phoning to check and on being told by barman nobody under 18 allowed I then asked not even a newborn in a pram he sarcastically replied (I think you will find that is definitely under 18!!!) No need for sarcasm Kyle. Tennents really need to move with the times again.

I Pre booked a booth as we were meeting friends for food and drinks, and I know it is always busy, it's a bit quieter in the side room, we have eaten here before so we know what to expect. Staff as always friendly and helpful. We ordered the Tapas, tasty as ever, clean plates all round. Finished of with a lovely bottle of wine.

Brought 2 Korean friends who wanted to try Tennent’s Lager and Whisky in an authentic Glasgow bar. We were ignored at the bar while others were being served either side of us. I finally asked why we were being ignored and men were being served before us and was met by an abusive tirade from the barman. He accused us of blaming him for being sexist and told us we were just rude! My friends and I were totally astonished, so-much-so one of them told him HE was the one who was being rude and not only were we in the right to complain but now we were being subjected to verbal abuse as a customer. I have never experienced anything like this. He then tried to tell us he wasn’t serving us and that he was going to put us out of the bar. Laughing, he tried to say it was just a joke and he would now serve us. I refused to be served by him and the young man who did serve us could not have been nicer. Wish I had asked for the manager and made a formal complaint.

Went to Tennents bar last week for a bite to eat and a drink. They have a great lunch menu and drinks are reasonably priced for the West End. Food was good and they have a great range of ales on offer too. The bartender Michelle was excellent! Went out of her way to make sure our group had a great experience. Will definitely be coming back again.

Came here for the first time in years to watch the rugby. The atmosphere in the pub was great but the food was almost inedible and served by staff that looked like their clothes hadn't been washed for a while... not overly hygienic. Will go back for a pint but definitely not for the food.

This is our new local bar and we love it. Really chatty staff, nice vibe and plenty of screens for sport. Food is decent, drinks are fair priced and there’s never any trouble here. Outdoor seating in the summer too. The only suggestion I would make (and I have had to say this to a few places!) please manage the ‘dog friendly’ situation. Not everyone wants to be seated next to someone’s dog. responsible dog owners should ensure their dogs are on floor and on leads at all times.

A great place to stop on your tour of vintage Glasgow, this bar has high ceilings and Victorian appointments all around. The food is a bit better than standard pub fare, the service is good, the Tennents is fresh on tap, and you've got screens all around to watch the football.

Came into the bar on Saturday. It was an excellent pint, a great atmosphere and was served by very friendly staff.

We had a couple of drinks here recently and place was packed and loud...just like you would imagine a good Glasgow pub to be like....... didn't eat here this time but food was great from past visits.

Definitely a gem of a bar in Glasgow’s west end. It offers a wide selection of beers and spirits, including several real ales on tap. It can be a little bit busy at weekends, which is a testimony to its popularity. Well worth a visit.

This was my first visit, and I was impressed. The choice of cask ales was outstanding and the quality excellent. I ordered the basic beef burger and chips for an extremely reasonable £6.95 and was not expecting very much. How wrong can you be – the burger was really flavourful and much better than ones I’ve had for nearly twice the price. When I’m in the area again, I will definitely be returning.

Normal pub prices in the West End, good to see. Easy to get to from anywhere in the city, there's a nearby subway station. Pretty young crowd for what at first glance appeared to be "an old man's pub".

Popped in here for a couple of drinks before going for a curry, as we usually do when we decide on a visit to the West End. What a pleasant surprise! The pub had undergone a really nice re- curb, done to a very high standard.Was particularly impressed by the ladies' toilets, which are now accessed via a flight of stairs in the basement. Good selection of wines, beers and spirits, perhaps a wee bit pricey, but we have come to expect that in the West End. Looking forward to returning.

This is a good old fashioned authentic Scottish bar with an excellent selection of beers and food. Traditional surroundings and friendly service.

He estado bebiendo en Tennents regularmente durante un tiempo, y normalmente le daría al lugar 5 estrellas. El personal está tan atento que ni siquiera tengo que pedir una recarga. Experience at this pub started perfectly and it finished catastrophic. Really good beer and lots of kind of it.After that we decided to order food and OMG the worst nachos in my life , we order big double burger and it came normal burgers and really late. Even two of us couldn’t eat lunch, they forgot 2 plates and we asked the money back. Only for beer, no food.

La relación calidad-precio es buena, porque teniendo en cuenta que al cambio euros/libras perdíamos, aún así no nos pareció caro para la cantidad de comida que ponen. Pub legendario en Byres Rd, servicio acogedor y amable para clientes habituales y visitantes ocasionales. Siempre un ambiente ocupado y sociable en cualquier momento que hemos visitado y siempre parece estar bien administrado. La comida del pub es buena. Esperamos volver.

Cuando acabamos de descubrir que nos habían molestado, mientras estábamos de vacaciones en Glasgow, nos refugiamos en este pub para contactar a nuestra compañía de seguros y seguir hablando con la policía. Pedí el pollo jalfrezi que se servía con arroz y poppadom. Siempre y cuando no tengas mucha hambre, es suficiente para llenar un vacío. ¡No estoy seguro de por qué el poppadom se sirve solo sin chutney de mango! ! El sabor era bueno y sabroso, el precio era bastante promedio, pero esperaba una mejor porción.

Entramos para el almuerzo y una pinta o dos. Quedé muy impresionado con la buena selección de cervezas reales (¡no son solo Tennents de barril!). Una gran variedad de comida y todo a un buen precio también. Ambiente agradable y mucho espacio. También es un bar deportivo, pero cuando lo visité, ese aspecto no está "en tu cara", por lo que no estás abrumado por eso.

As a group we regularly have lunch at Tennents to chat. Recently there has been intrusive music playing and the staff have been helpful in turning it down as low as possible but it is still quite loud. It is spoiling our enjoyment of the lunch and the staff are saying they cannot turn off the music. There are Sports TVs playing at the same time so there is a background cacophony of noise.

This place is a legend. It has developed into a bar where sports (mostly football) can be watched. It's a busy bar with a good selection of beers, etc at reasonable prices. Always busy at night and a good atmosphere.

Came in here to watch the Chelsea game on Sunday after being advised it would probably be on here. Was pretty busy but managed to grab a seat. Drinks really well priced for the West End. Was also nice to see that there was a certain football manager in drinking and no one bothered him at all.

What a welcoming pub. The three of us stopped in after travelling from Canada. Had our luggage and squished into a corner out of the way. By the time we had a beer or two we had made friends with the high school chaps from the early 70 at their reunion , the friendly locals and of course Susie our amazing waitress. This would be our “Neighbourhood Pub “ for the remainder of our visit ! Thank you all very much for making us feel like family. Judy , Madison , Tracy and Roberta.

As a regular, pretty disheartened by the level of service now offered. Alison, the ex-manager, ran one of the best pubs in Glasgow for many years. You were guaranteed quick service, a laugh with the staff, and a warm, cozy atmosphere.

Friday evening and there was 2 bartenders who weren’t coping very well. There was empty tumblers everywhere. Gave up after 10 minutes waiting.

Popped in here for breakfast before a trip to Kelvingrove Art Gallery. Would have to say one of the best Scottish breakfasts I have ever eaten. You will not get a better value breakfast in this normally overpriced part of Glasgow's west end.

Had a couple of pints in this well know bar in Glasgow staff very helpful and welcoming. Beer served with a smile and at the correct temperature a wide range of ales available. Had a great afternoon at Wellpark Brewery today. Marco was full of knowledge about all the history of Tennants. The wee tasters at the end just topped of a grand tour. Would definitely recommend 🍻😁

A good pub in the heart of the west end of Glasgow. It is an old fashioned pub and the prices for drink and food is extremely cheap compared to most other pubs in the area.

After finding this pub last year and having a few very nice visits with my family, we visited to watch a Scotland football game on a Friday night, as my friend (his first visit)and I were standing waiting to be served at the very busy bar this barmaid who was collecting empty glasses, heavily shoved my friend,I had to calm him down as he was livid and tried to confront her.

In the bar on hogmamay. Bar staff (2 girls) who served me were very poor. Slow , disinterested and inattentive. Bar wasnt particularly busy but had to wait for over 5 minutes twice as staff had disappeared to chat !! Very disappointed as we use this bar any time we are in the West end and never experienced this before.

Herrlichste Kneipenkultur in top Lage der Byres Rd. Der Service hinter dem Tresen ist hochprofessionell, der auf Grund des Blickkontakts und Handzeichen meine Order schnell und perfekt ausführt.(der Laden war in Reihen um den Tresen gefüllt, Verständigung per Sprach unmöglich).

Desde el momento en que entramos supe que me gustaría. El ambiente era animado y parecía que muchos de los clientes son clientes habituales. Grupos de Amigos sería charlando en el bar o en las mesas de la esquina. Jóvenes y viejos por igual parecía estar relajado y simplemente tener s bien. Hay una gran variedad de cervezas y cervezas aquí y el personal del bar era muy agradable para mí, un turista que llegó solo, pero nos hicieron sentir como en casa.

Went here as seen menu online and looked decent, however when got her walked into place and walked bk out no way was I eating in there the place stinks. This isn't a place would recommend eating it more like an old man pub.

Been in the Tennents Bar two times in April as a suggestion of an Airbnb nearby. The space is really nice and cozy, and it's a good place to try some artisanal beers. We didn't had any food, so I cannot comment on that. But is certainly a place to stop by! PS: the graffitis on the wall arriving the bar are quite something! Great photos and great fun!

I had a lovely time with my wife in this Scottish pub, the beers were great and the staff lovely. We throughly enjoyed this place as we were trying to find our roots in Scotland

We popped in for a quick drink and bite to eat while taking the morning bus tour, We were greeted with friendly and engaging staff who chatted with us about America and nice places to go and see in Scotland while we are here. Highly recommend stopping by to this lovely Scottish bar, thank you for being a part of our trip.

After waiting for 20 minutes to get my burger I checked with the kitchen and they haven't even started on it. Left with nothing.Moreover: despite a promotion of a free drink with a burger, got charged for it separately anyway. That was the last time I spent £10 for a glass of pepsi there.

Adam provided us with table side service and could answer every question we had with ease and a smile. He is a tremendous asset to your restaurant. (In case I got the name wrong, he told us his partner is from Alabama. We were discussing that we were also from the states which is how it came up)

Because of its historic nature, we popped in for a quick pint and a bite of lunch. Had a great conversation about beer, Scotland, Alabama, weather, kilts, and our future itinerary with the folks at the pub. Very good food. Exceptional beer and staff. Don't miss this traditional pub.

Jumped in here before westend festival started , no room to sit in main bar , so made into the room at back , no atmosphere at all , very dark Nice pint good head , n wine ok Ordered burger n Mac n cheese , good munchie pub grub Looked so appealing when came My burger was dry n over cooked n wife Mac n cheese disgusting massive slab of plastic cheese over it hiding a horrible coloured creamy cheese , quite sickly looking Tenants pub owners should sort out those toilets absolutely reeking with pungent urine , held my breath under my jumper , could still taste it , Rotten n needs an overhaul of them , especially next to the seats for eating

After taking the the train from Edinburgh to Glasgow we got on the "hop on/hop off" bus. We stopped into Tennents Bar for lunch. The atmosphere was fantastic and the food was good. I had BBQ chicken with Monterrey jack cheese, fries cole slaw, and fries. My wife had a hamburger and fries. The only thing that we didn't like, as the fact that we were told that the only way hamburgers are cooked, is well done. It still tasted good. We both enjoyed a glass of wine. All for £18!! Great deal!

We came in for lunch as we frequent this pub fairly regularly. Very disappointed with standard of food. Fish although fresh was bland and ordered steak pie and received mince pie...shortcrust pastry was soggy. No chance to feedback as plates were taken without chance to comment. Will return for drinks but unfortunately not for food.

I've been coming to Tennents on and off since I was a student a number of years ago but only over the last few years and since I returned to Glasgow has it really become my "local". A great, friendly place, and without a shadow of a doubt the most professional, efficient and thoroughly decent staff to be found in the West End if not the whole of Glasgow.I enjoy coming here whether for a quick bite to eat, or some late end of day beers or meeting friends/family, watching 6 Nations or other sports. This pub has it all! We spent our first Hogmanay here as well a few months back and it was terrific. Will definitely do the same this year.Even my girlfriend who has recently moved in with me has commented on how welcomed and at home she feels here. Special thanks to all the bar staff for that too :)If you haven't been before you won't regret a visit here. Please don't ever change! :)
