Cannot beat JD on prices - this is the place to go for an affordable drink or meal - the people of Glasgow (anybody really) need these outlets - you can bring your kids - sit down have a drink/meal whatever - and you know it's not going to bust the bank - brilliant Wetherspoons

A decent, economic pub which serves a variety of inexpensive beers and affordable food. Close to Queens St Railway Station & Buchanan Street Bus Station

Order conveniently via the app instead of waiting forever for the waiter, unfortunately often very overcrowded and prices are quite high. Still a recommendation to make a quick pint stop right next to George Square.

Like all Wetherspoons it has good value food (although the quantity has reduced by quite lot recently) and drink but make sure you look up at the beautiful ceiling.

After years of coming here but then seeing how bad their service got decided to not come for a while. This year I decided to come here to show our foreign friends the local atmosphere and the waitresses were just rude and disrespectful. Never coming here again. An absolute disgrace how we were handled during the whole time. Shame.

Too busy and tables are not spaced well very cramped.

They contacted me to tell me my husbands wedding ring had been handed in. In their safety deposit cupboard for 9 months . Sent a photo when asked abd kept in touch to arrange collection. Fair prices and staff lovely

Went for breakfast unlimited coffee and round of toast. Was waiting for a train so used the time to have a quick breakfast. Highly recommend this place. Lovely and warm. Staff were friendly.

It is a Spoons. Does what it says on the tin. Like a lot of Spoons in a lovely old building. Very good prices. Food is what it is, great selection of drinks.

Probably the nicest weatherspoons we've been in. The architecture of the building is wonderful and alot of detail to look at. The prices are amazing and definitely a cheap way to spend your time. We visited the weekend between Christmas and NY and it was chocker but the service was still good and didn't wait too long. The female toilets were nice too. Definitely go back

Really nice atmosphere. Busy pub. Beautiful interior. Well staffed and staff are so friendly. Been here a few times spending a weekend at a family event. Couldn't fault the service. The food is Wetherspoons default so you know what to expect. But I think it's one of the best I've been in.

Another great day in the Counting house. The new Korean meal is a winner. Prices are fantastic. Can't praise this place enough.

Well what a find this was, as always with a spoons, great value for money. Very busy place but still made to feel you were the only customer. Attentive and friendly staff. Will return.

Visited during a busy Saturday tea time but were very lucky to get a table so we were able to order food. It only took 10 minutes for both the food and drinks to arrive which was excellent considering how busy they were. The waitress even came back with straws for us which was very kind. A male worker overheard me talking about how far away the toilets were and that I was considering asking for the key for the disabled toilet and very kindly let my friend in without any fuss. The alcoholic free gin and tonic was under £1.50! We were impressed that the service remained high even though they would be under a great deal of pressure.

Whetherspoons. It is what it is. But a nice one because it's in Glasgow. Cheap and cheerful. Hike to the toilets but worth it for the girly snap.

The pub was very busy, but both the food 🥑 and drinks service was quick and friendly.

Struggled to find a seat around lunchtime, food is cheap but tastes good and is satisfying American style burger was a bit on the small side buuuuut....the taste was amazin, pleasant ,polite staff....

Just had a drink here. It was super busy and super noisy. But a great place to meet up with friends.

Desayunar un sábado por la mañana en Glasgow dos semanas antes de Navidad es una época preocupante, pero The Counting House hizo lo mejor para aliviar el terror. Estaba ocupado, incluso poco después de abrir a las 8 am. Un millón de compradores hambrientos estaban ansiosos por tener una rebanada de tocino, una salchicha caliente, algunas tostadas, un hachís rojo caliente marrón y algunos frijoles horneados con piel. ¿Quién no lo sería? Encontramos un asiento y nos acomodamos, esperando nuestros desayunos tradicionales. Llegaron a tiempo y eran la tarifa estándar de Wetherspoons. Caliente y bien cocinado y sin embargo nada fuera de lo común, fue lo suficientemente agradable para llenar el vacío y enviarnos al caos alimentado y regado. No te decepcionará el precioso edificio y sin duda volvería en el futuro.

One of the J D Wetherspoons pubs which is situated at the corner of George Square in Glasgow city centre. These pubs are pretty much all the same as it's part of a chain, but this one is exceptionally busy at weekends. No music and it attracts an older crowd, it also sells meals at reasonable prices with specials on at certain days of the week. Not my choice of places to be honest but it is very popular.

It's a Wetherspoons. Speaks for itself. Although this one is always busy. So seats are in short supply. But they have a sit outside area which is gorgeous in the summer and ok in the winter. Heaters wouldn't go a miss. But otherwise great place to grab a quick drink and then run for trains.

Visited with family for a quick bite to eat and drink to escape the cold this week The place was packed and extremely busy. Not many empty tables to choose from but those that were empty were stacked high with dirty plates and glasses etc. No visible members of staff for assistance, cleared the table myself and asked at the bar for the table to be cleaned. Waited and waited and waited. Sticky residue and food scraps all over it. It was eventually cleaned. Food arrived quickly but you could of bounced the chicken off the wall. The burger was like rubber and onion rings so overcooked and crispy the onion had disappeared Couldn't get out quick enough even though the temperature was below 0

Always give the counting house a knock as it's very accommodating for a handy breakfast and a few bevvies, price is also spot on 💚

We have been here before and do echo the positive comments about the great interior decor but, although we tried 3 different places to sit, we couldn't shake off the draft when one of the doors opened - which was often. So, after just one drink, we moved to another drinking venue.

Very good Glasgow Wetherspoon's pub in a spectacular former bank building about three minutes walk from Queen Street Railway Station. Eight cask beers on handpump when I visited including a stout. Loads of outdoor seating on George Square.

Great place, lovely building, close to everything and a very busy atmosphere and place. We had drinks and food, so busy but we got a table. Pizzas were lovely, super fast service and staff pleasant. Great price and enjoyed a few hours catching up with friends.

Food was okay… extremely busy and felt like everyone was packed in like sardines in the room. More of a pub atmosphere instead of food

Ordered a hot chocolate and a coffee to go with our breakfast. They were undrinkable because the machines had not been restocked. We politely mentioned this to one of the on duty managers and she was rather rude to us, but gave us extra cups and said she would restock them. She didn't. The second cups were equally undrinkable. By contrast, the food was lovely and our server was very friendly indeed. Then another server took our plates away before we had finished eating. This could be a lovely place if it was better managed.

Beautiful building, fast friendly service, its a bit of a squeeze and can get very busy being so close to St George's Square and central station/queen's St Station. We stopped for drinks, and found a table, and just ordered via the app. Worth a visit.

I was refused access today by one of the security, a man at the door today at 2pm. The security guy said that me and my pal were “not dressed accordingly for a saturday night”. I replied, “it’s 2pm in the afternoon?” but he refused us both access into the pub. I have been here many times over the years and am disappointed in this. You have lost yourselves two regular customers 👍🏻

Absolutely amazing place and the service is second to none. The tall ginger boy is so friendly and polite, I think his name was Josh. Absolute credit to this establishment

It's totally fine. Busy when I went in, so took probably 10 minutes to get served. However, staff are nice, and the food served was ok. Recommended

Just a big drinking den with mediocre food and absolute rabble but suppose you get what you pay for would not rush back

Never got a chance to step inside due to the fact the doorman refused my friend and I saying we were drunk (we had 1 drink in Brown's down the road). We told him very politely that we only had the 1 drink, but he wasn't having it. He then decided to be very rude and then pretended to speak to people walking by for some strange reason. This doorman needs maybe a refresher course on his people skills and a better judgment of what drunk (1 drink) relates to.

Great pub in the heart of Glasgow

It is a lovely looking pub but the food was very poor We had a traditional breakfast and it was cold the bacon was well charred tasted burnt the only good bit was the slice of toast.This was the worse breakfast I've ever had. The following day we went to St John Moore weatherspoon and it was a really good breakfast well cooked and tasty. I think some weatherspoons need to refresh the cooking procedures as food needs to be properly cooked and be correct temperatures as a lot comes out to the table tepid.

Dropped by on the way to Queen St Station without realising the was a Wetherspoons (sacre bleu) but pleasantly surprised. No Queuing!!!!! It was like a normal bar!! Very beautiful space as well, an old bank. This one gets commendation.

As for the food it's a weatherspoons we all know what you get, as for the place it's a great venue. Right in the middle of town and although it was busy, service is fast and efficient.

The Counting House, currently a restaurant, was originally a palace, then a bank, and now you can eat well and have a nice time there. The place is very crowded and liked by both local residents and tourists. You can eat and drink well here and enjoy the decor rich in exclusive exhibits.

A standard Spoons in a gorgeous building. There's a ton of tables but due to location in city centre and so close to Queen Street station it's often difficult to find an empty table. Food and drinks are decent and varied as expected from Spoons all at a decent price

Not a good experience. It was far too overcrowded, to get in and out of our seats it meant briefly blocking the throughway, two rows of tables, there was no space to get in and out of the seats on the opposite side of our table. The food, well, one of the worst meals we've ever had, I ordered ham egg and chips, everything was cold, my partner's fish, the batter was so bad , overcooked, to the extent that the fish was actually half the size. The whole place is an accident waiting to happen.

My friends and I were going inside to meet with people and to mostly sit down cause we were walking for a while. But on the way there one of my friends foot was hurting from her high heel so we helped her on the way there however as soon as we stopped the bouncer said that she was drunk and instantly refused cause we helped her walk. We were telling him that her foot was sore cause she had been wearing it for hours which he then responded with “other girls were wearing heels too and there feet weren’t hurting so how is hers”.

Ok, for a quick drink but pot luck getting served at bar.

My friend and I recently visited Wetherspoons for some food and drinks. I ordered both, but when my drink arrived, the server asked for my ID. That’s when I realized I’d forgotten it, so I apologized and explained. The server was understanding and said my friend could have the drink since she had her ID, which was perfectly fine with me. However, a ginger boy came over with my friend’s drink and rudely asked for our IDs again. When I explained I didn’t have mine, he aggressively snatched the drink away without a word. I then politely asked if I could get a refund, and he snapped, “No, you can’t. You shouldn’t have ordered a drink with no ID.” His tone was unnecessarily rude and condescending, like he was trying to make a scene. An older woman at the table next to us even commented after he left, saying how ridiculous he was being. I’m 24 and it was an honest mistake, but his attitude was completely uncalled for. It was especially disappointing after the first server had been so polite and understanding. His behaviour left a terrible impression and ruined the experience.

To order you have to download the app. 🥴 laborious. The atmosphere is very nice, but very, very well attended.

Poor service daughter was there with her friends charged her for the alcohol then asked for id which she forgot then told her to leave the premises pubs can’t sell alcohol unless they look at the id but this place think they can then when it’s purchased they can ask and if they don’t have it get told to leave now if they believe my daughters not 18 or over then she shouldn’t be aloud to buy anything alcohol related and when I called to make my point I get the phone hung up on me by the manager so I’m thinking a wee call to trading standards will be made this week

Myself and husband had come to Glasgow for a visit and popped in for breakfast.

Great beer choice but in general service is terrible. Plus I hate giving the tosser who owns it any of my hard earned cash.

The usual noisy place but extremely popular.

1 star, staff need to be taught not to hold the glass near the area that customers drink from (real ale). This is basic stuff.
