I loved this pub. It’s a real dump but has great atmosphere. Reasonably priced beer. Original cast iron Victorian era pillars. Not tarted up. Genuine Glasgow local.

Stopped in on holiday and ended up hanging out for hours. great beer and the employees and locals were fantastic and made my wife (Mary dow) and I feel at home. What a great spot thanks boys

Staying near by and thought we would go for drink.my friend had been before so thought it would be ok. Apparently not !!! On opening the door at 8:00pm we were met by an angry bar man who shouted at us “I thought I had locked that door how did you get in ?? “ before replying we immediately felt intimidated as up to 10 people were staring at us in an unpleasant manner. The bar man told us one drink and leave. We decided to not take him up on his offer as we felt embarrassed and to a point we were actually a bit afraid. We left with apologies from bar man. However a regular followed us and tried to defuse the situation as he could tell we were very upset. He invited us back in and apologised. Which is not a customers job !! Obviously a local bar for locals only not very welcoming. To make matters worse we walked across to the strathduie bar to be met with exactly the same hostility !! A closed bar which was actually full of customers. Holiday ruined !! Sad state of affairs. I am a bar maid and I welcome all manner of people at all hours of the day. Not the bars fault obviously just horrible people

Simple - A great pint at a great price. A friendly owner and perfect for a visit to the Cathedral, Necropolis and oldest Glasgow House.

Popped in to watch the Celtic game v heart's. Plenty of 📺 TVs to watch any sport. 4 drinks one cola as they had no irn bru (hence a star off) £20 . The warm welcome from the staff was genuinely appreciated. Young chap with the beard , think he was from Australia,was always on hand to see if everything was OK. The Guinness was lovely and poured well ,not rushed. We we certainly be back again, sadly the toilets are a bit of a trek downstairs (a star off) . That said, we all liked the vibe.

Went downhill over the past few years, couldn't believe the state of the place, you'd think as it's in Glasgow's Merchant City they'd have tarted it up a bit...suppose its always been an old man's pub though. Not impressed. 2 and a half stars.

It's a boozer support gangsters n sevco fans. Lager is watered Floor sticky. Seats uncomfy.

This bar needs brought up to scratch,dated in all aspects toilets,bar, and don't think the walls have been painted since the original opening, we ,had 1 drink and left,went to the bar round the corner (Stath something)much livelier and packed out,atmosphere was electric,sorry Black Bull,we won't be back!!!!

Came in with my fiancée as we recently got engaged the previous night. I told the bar staff our good news and straight after was told to leave the bar. We had no drink whatsoever before this, add to this my partner is a police officer and was on call. All we wanted was a non alcoholic drink but still told to leave the second I said we got engaged the night before. I have autism and struggle with my communication/speech so I can only assume 1) I wasn’t the right fit for the bar. 2) our sexuality or 3) as we didn’t want alcohol we weren’t bringing in enough money. Regardless it is unbelievable how we were treated. We done absolutely nothing wrong but walk in. Will never be back and will let everyone know this going forward!!

A great wee pub on the High Street. Wooden seats as well, a throwback to the good old days.

This is definitely an ole man's bar,we went a few times,and sat at the High Street enterence,omg,the smell of the toilet was horrendous, was told on both occasions is was getting renovated,bit I wouldn't to see that to believe it!!!!!

The bar tenders attitude was an absolute disgrace. When faced with a busy bar which it took an age to get served and people pushing in, when asked to be served next his attitude was nothing short of insulting. I will never set foot in this bar again. I have never been spoken to in that way by someone who serves the public before.

What a dive, first time in here , some old guy embarrassed a young boy with his mates with 1970s tricks . Never again avoid like the plague, place looks like not been decorated since Armstrong walked on moon , or Robin Hood robbed the rich

I have no idea what these people are reviewing but it's not the same pub I've been in. What food? What atmosphere? + apart from Lucy the young girl the rest are rude + the boss Mary leaves you waiting for a drink (unless ur a regular) while she collects glasses she doesn't need. She also lies so, watch out for that, she likes embarrassing u + gets a kick out of ur being uncomfortable. That's the absolute facts, beware! I'd give - * if I cld. Now the poor trees are getting damaged!!

In America, this would be termed a dive bar, and that's no bad thing. Comfortable, affordable, enjoyable.

Popped in here while at the mechant city festival, as we were fed up getting ripped off at the festival. £5 for a pint of lager in a dirty wee lane out of a plastic tumbler! Anyway the bar staff in the black bull were customer friendly. There was a karaoke and the ladies were happy to let us get up to sing. Thanks for a memorable evening Black Bull.

This ,is a very small Bar with reasonable drinks prices and good service. There is Karaoke but as the premises is so small it is difficult to see and join in. Would recommend only if you are only there for a drink otherwise there are a lot of better pubs in the area. This isn't criticism just a heads up.

Very friendly / busy local pub.

We find the staff very bigoted as they gave us filthy glasses and very unfriendly approach. Do not enter, especially if you are Celtic supporter.

The bull is a great wee pub of the type that's vanishing fast still got it's local charm hasn't changed in decades friendly staff that give a smile when you arrive and good service if it's a pint or the karaoke or just a chat it's the kind of pub that is fast vanishing so if in the city pay a visit you will love it

Tried to visit this bar on saturday 27th may to watch the scottish final and have a good day out in glasgow with family and friends .All bars in merchant city area where bursting full so we decided lets try here but as we entered we where told that no celtic fans where welcome so we about turned and left shaking our heads .This pub truly has shown how bigoted it is and how sad the people who run it must be . I would therefor like to say if you wear green you are not welcome .sad sad people

The black Bull seems like a quaint old public house,the bar staff are well mannered and the regulars are a good clientele,they do not sell food in the property as they do not have the amenities as the pub is not really spacious,it does not have a pool table or dart board, however there is ladies and gents toilets,which suits the customers.
