The Coundon Hotel in Coventry

I always recommend the coundon for outings with the family, it has a cosy and welcoming feel and the staff are always pleasant. The food was lovely, the starters are just delicious, very cost effective with the deal they have on for the starters. I tried a new burger today - the laying it chick burger. It was nice, but felt the mixtures of sauces didnt fit well with it. I will also add that the wait between starter and main was abit longer than usual, i understand busier times but the longer period of time waiting was off putting.

Great pub , great staff fantastic food , absolutely love the new menu can’t wait to return and work my way through all the dishes … would recommend !

Visited this pub for dinner today and was pleasantly surprised by how lovely it is , Nice and clean, very pleasant staff and the food was cooked to perfection the steak was delicious, can not fault anything A* well done team coundon

Bar staff don’t like complaints, my lasagne was burnt around the 4 corners but frozen in the middle. I returned it twice bar staff not happy tried to argue that she watched the “chef” put the thermometer in the middle until I pushed my finger into the middle of the lasagne to prove it was still cold. I asked for a gammon instead, when that arrived the peas were still borderline frozen and the gammon was raw. Toilets were disgusting and very smelly. With the treatment that I received there was no offer of a refund or even an apology so I will never be returning.

I popped into our local the other day and I have to say I was taken by surprise it was alittle quiet which makes me believe not people know about this little treasure but the service the staff and OMG the food was outstanding I could not of asked for a better meal in a better place for a better price so don't miss out and get yourselfs down there

A double burger which was absolutely spot on! Even upgraded to the dirty chips and everything was amazing. Great food and a great pint of Guinness. Would 100% recommend to anyone

Came for lunch and ended up having the new festive menu and both of us were just wow at how nice the food was. Was told Zoe was cooking and she did a brilliant job so tasty my boyfriend said probably the best burger he has had and the turkey skewers made me want to come back for them again. Staff all friendly and efficient too considering how busy it was. Lovely little lunch date.

The Coundon is the best pub is Coventry. The staff are always so polite and welcoming and the atmosphere is great no matter the day! If you ever find yourself in Coventry for the night 100% go to the Coundon! The food is also good here, I have been a few times and had food! The only issues I would have with here is the air conditioning when it is too hot!!!

On entering and approached the bar i was greeted by bar staff who were pleasant and engaging. Service was efficient. Food was delicious and value for money. As a sports fan, I was impressed with the multi big screen layout. I will be coming back sometime very soon!!!

I cannot describe how bad the food in this is. Burnt sausages in the sausage and mash. Gammon like pink shoe rubner/leather but the rubber/leather would have been easier to digest. Disgusting. AVOID

On a flying visit to Coventry, we went into the Coundon hotel for a meal. Standard pub fare, ordered fish and chips, and gammon and chips meals. Landlord could do with being a bit more cheerful, but the landlady/ barmaid was very helpful and very chatty. Food was good and piping hot. Would use again

Called in the Coundon with hubby for saturday lunch. Quick service at the bar, easy to order food. Meals were served hot, tasty. Aaron, our server, is very good, helpful & efficient.

Our chicken was burnt black and when I complained they did not even apologise but said it was due to the barbecue sauce! I have had this dish numerous times and it has never been burnt like this. My tomato was also burnt black - er there was no barbecue sauce on that! The jacket potato was also hard which we also commented on but yet again, got a nonchalant response! It was awful. Don't rush to get your dinner there! When these people took over it was a lovely place to eat but it seems they have got a bit complacent and don't seem to care like they used to. I won't be rushing back!

We were unable to find one good thing about our meal at this pub. The beer tasted like vinegar. The waiter who brought one of our meals almost threw it on the table and when asked stated he did not know what the meal was. I ordered the sizzlling vegetarian fajitas, uncooked and siggy was a far better description than sizzling. There was no spice at all and the halloumi was undercooked. The waiter brought the salsa, sour cream and guacamole to the table on top of my overmicrowaved & hard wraps. In addition there was a large, crispy lump of something unidentifiable in my guacamole- disgusting!

I attended this venue for a small wake, the food was great and the staff, especially Lee, was helpful and friendly when I asked about allergens. Drinks were reasonably priced too! Will be back again!

We were in Coventry for a family lunch on a Sunday and ended up at the Coundon almost by accident. My daughter requires a gluten free diet, for which Wetherspoons cater well on their menu. However, we didn't get beyond the door at the City Arms as their kitchen was closed. So she suggested a Sizzler and the Coundon was handy for us.

Fuimos aquí ayer para un asado los domingos. Visitamos aquí un mes antes y tenía un asado, que era delicioso. Las verduras eran frescos y la carne era hermoso. Decidimos volver. Recientemente visité este pub para una comida familiar. El servicio me pareció muy bueno. El menú tenía mucha variedad. Todos disfrutamos de nuestras comidas y nuestras bebidas y nos quedamos gratamente sorprendidos con la factura.

We always feel welcome, the pub offers a large selection of drinks and food. Children are welcome but not allowed to run around inside the area out the back is safe for them to do this. Last week, three of us popped in for lunch and it worked out just over £22 for food and drink. The food was presented very well and tasted great. It's the simple things that they get right constantly and consistently. Everyone is friendly including the new staff. I have to talk about Halloween I was amazed as to the entertainment that was laid on for the children. To start pumping carving, party games, disco, hot and cold buffet, colouring in. The pub offered four hours of entertainment and let parents either help or sit in the lounge. Brilliant afternoon

We went for Sunday Roast Lunch at 2.30, from the selection of FOUR roasts only TWO were available, chicken or pork, I had pork, my husband ordered chicken, when they arrived the chicken was bbq/char-grilled with onion rings, chips and sweetcorn?? The waitress could not be more apologetic and returned within minutes with his roast chicken dinner!! Staff, please give your customers some credit, his BBQ chicken from your incorrect order had been placed on a plate with veg and covered in gravy, please, we can distinguish between bbq and roasted, very dissatisfied and not good.

First of all there was none of three beers available, then Scottish £20 would not be accepted, alternative payment was necessary. Food was very slow and cold when it came. Not a good visit.

Friends had recommended this place, I had not been in for years so was hesitant. I went with my partner and daughter on a Monday night. The pub was very clean and staff very friendly and welcoming. To our surprise kids ate for £1 which was a bonus! Food and service was brilliant. Will definitely be going again.

This was our second visit in 3 weeks and again it was quite honestly faultless. Service was attentive, yet personal and really quite delightful that the bar staff remembered us from the last visit! Did I go to the same place as all the previous reviewers? It would seem not.6 of us booked a table here. The girl on the phone who I think ended up also being our waitress was very friendly and professional and is worthy of a better work environment. Her efforts were the best thing about this place.Too chewy chicken along with a fatty tough steak and .....................well, I mean......the food is reasonably priced but overall, the food was way below par. The atmosphere due to the poor quality of fellow customers is something that can't be helped, so I'm not marking it for that. I'm basically doing this review on the food and it wasn't great and to be honest, it wasn't good. I had one of their dry overcooked burgers with past it's best bun. One of our group had a baked potato and she was the only one who thought her food was ok. I definitely would not return.

Never have i encountered a pub quite like this one, the people are friendly and the staff seem to love being there, the pub was spotless and the food was fantastic considering how cheap it is. Will be back again

We have held a private party here, our mums funeral wake and a Christmas party only last night for my hard working team. I would just like to say what a wonderful, pleasant , hospitable,professionally run pub this now is in comparison to before. I would certainly recommend to others and this bears my very expensive local from another chain hands down , half the price but double the quality in the coundon.Well done Claire and your team, you have reinvented the Coundon , what a wonderful establishment to spend some time in .Rosie and team xxx

We go to the Coundon on a regular basis, lovely food, friendly staff, I thoroughly recommend anyone to visit this Sizzler.

Had a wonderful experience here a lot has changed in this pub from a few years ago new staff and a new manger obviously knows how to run a business. We came for lunch here for a friends birthday there was a table all dressed and presented with a lovely layout.the food was great and was no wait considering the amount of other diners in the venue the waitress held a conversation with us and explained how much the coundon has changed with a verity of what's on through the weeks. We are now using this place at least three times a week and will continue to do so I'm glad I tried the coundon now.

Not sure if we picked the right day to visit, as on the Sunday we visited we were informed by the staff that they were running down the stock ready for a re-fit in a few weeks time. Although they have approx 7 lagers on display only 2 were on offer. having eaten at the sister Sizzler The Nugget only 2 weeks before the food here bore no comparison except that they had the same menu, but certainly not the same chef. The quality was disappointing, the service slow. Although the pub had a nice vibe it was clearly in a period of transition. So I will give it another go in afew months after the refurb.

Great for private party's the room is a great size! All the staff are really friendly, the manager when out of her way to make are night fantastic and run smoothly! We also didn't have to lift a finger as all staff opened buffet and closed the room down and cleaned away any mess. I've now attended a few party here from relatives and friends I've recommended to hire the Coundon hotels function room! All round Great place and great staff. Did I mention the room is FREE

What can I say!! Absolutely brilliant I had a family party here not long ago! Fantastic night the straff were truely amazing and the manager whent out of her way to make are night feel special! We didn't have to lift a finger all night as staff took control of the buffet opening it and clearing away all left overs and and mess! There was no worrying all night about clearing away at the end of the night. More relaxing and fun times! I'd truley recommend this place to any one and its also free to hire the room extra bounus.

I visit here often either with friends or my children and grandchildren. It doesn't matter how many of us there are the service is always the same, friendly and competent. The build your own kids menu is a great idea and our steak is always cooked to perfection.Brilliant place to visit day or evening.

Visit this pub often it's changed massively now perfect place to bring kids family. Entertainment every sat as we'll as sky sports for the regulars

Wasn't happy at all with the place at all never seen the manager at all over a week i drank there members of staff swearing at the locals when they where waiting to be served went to the toilet wet floor and no signs out and 2 or 3 people in the toilet talking and taking drugs

Wouldn't usually eat here but someone told someone that the food was OK so what the heck. The food was OK, such as it was, and we enjoyed it. A good number of our fellow customers were quite loud and sprinkled their shouted conversations profanities galore so be prepared. Also no cask ale. 2 3/4 out of five.
