Kahawa Cafe in Coventry

We drive by this spot every day, and we’ve always wanted to visit, and today we finally did. I’m so glad we went. The smell of fresh coffee paired with the cool cafe vibes elevated the whole experience, but the cherry on top was my interaction with Evelina (I’m not sure if that’s right I’m sorry) who was so so kind, sweet and accommodating. She relayed the ingredients of the karak chai perfectly, and laughed at all my silly jokes. She even made me a new coffee when I explained that I forgot to ask for decaf. My first encounter with this place will be my favourite, but it won’t be my last :).

We had the breakfast wrap and sourdough avocado poached eggs, washed down with some flat whites. Will be returning next week to savour the tasty cakes on show. Might even do a bit of work next time too. 😆

Amazing Indian street food! We visited after a morning at The Wave, as we fancied eating out. The ordered Samosa Chaat, Meat Loaded Fries and a jacket potato. All the food was really tasty and well presented.

Relaxing atmosphere, good breakfast and friendly staff. My wife and I grabbed a quick breakfast whilst the kids were at the Wave water park opposite. We both had a breakfast and cup of tea. Plenty of seating and spaced out. Clean cafe and spotless toilet facilities. The breakfast was great for £8 each. 2 sausage, 2 smoked turkey rashers, beans, 2 hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast with coffee or tea included! Owner was friendly and staff polite. Will recommend and visit again!

It's about time we can get a desi breakfast in Coventry (served all day by the way) Desi tea was good and milk alternatives are available. The three of us ate well for under £25. Don't miss the mogo chips!

Came in here after just walking out of a nearby place which had sticky tables, a sticky floor and grumpy staff! Kahawa staff were really friendly and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble, the place was spotlessly clean and the food was excellent. Will definitely visit again next time I visit my daughter in Coventry!

brilliant venue and great food, however, service was poor, slow at clearing tables and taking payment. was on a timescale. only had an hour. cupa tea nasty, milk had curdled and had to go and ask for another as all staff not paying attention.

Stopped by for a hot chocolate whilst waiting for a train. Great hot chocolate, excellent friendly service, reasonable prices, very clean cafe. This place deserves to be extremely busy! (and it was on that Saturday afternoon)

Went as a family for brunch. We had the full English breakfast, desi breakfast and eggs Royale all of which tasted delicious. Prices are great too with large portions. Staff is extremely friendly and has a nice sitting down area. Highly recommend especially for people looking for Halal places.

Went to kahawa café whilst on holiday and i can honestly say that it is the nicest coffee shop i have been to. Everything from the experience to the food was phenomenal. I ordered the mixed hot choc which for someone like me who is fussy about their hot choc, it was so smooth and flavourful. The full English was a massive portion with halal sausages which is always a bonus! As for the biscoffe milkshake, i don't think I've ever tasted something as insane as it! The service was amazing and the café itself is spacious and relaxing, perfect for a family brunch to a business meeting or even just private study if your a student. Overall, would highly recommend taking a visit because i can guarantee you wont regret it!

The coffee is excellent and it certainly compelled me to return after I had visited for the first time. It is now my go-to café and I will often grab some quick lunch too. I am a very big fan of the oat/soy chai coffee latte, as well as their falafel wrap/panini. I am also really happy to have a vegan choice for desserts if I fancy something sweet. The atmosphere is also relaxed and welcoming, and the staff members are always lovely and very friendly, it's always a pleasure to pop in. I am looking forward to when they will be able to open inside again, so I can grab a good book and enjoy a coffee indoors if it's chilly outside. Until then, I'll keep enjoying their coffee to takeaway, as I did today.

Myself and my partner come in here every so often when we have time, and it’s our favourite coffee place in the whole of the midlands. I’m from Stratford upon Avon but split my time between there and Coventry, and whenever we come in we’re greeted with friendly, approachable service, the most incredible coffee and a lovely ambient atmosphere. Recently they’ve had a few changes to their shop, and it looks really great! Keep up the great work guys

I often pop in here prior to going to work. The staff are friendly and the coffee is great. Great for business meetings and friendly meetings also. I do not have a bad word to say. Lovely place, lovely staff, great coffee!!

We stopped off here for probably the best coffee in Coventry. I had a double espresso and my girls had hot chocolates. The coffee was strong and the right temperature and definitely hit the spot!! Lots of snacks available, free Wifi and chilled out ambient music. Great way to spent an hour or two!!

Best coffee in the City and a Cafe version of the Cheers Bar (for those who remember that TV series - "Where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came") Once you've been there once or twice, you'll get a ready welcome on subsequent visits. Incidentally, like Cheers, you can get a nice cold beer, or a fantastic iced coffee on a hot Summers day. For winter chocoholics - the Kahawa's hot chocolate is second to none. A highly professional, friendly, family run Cafe . Can't recommend them highly enough - Coffee is 'their thing' and they are passionate about it. Recommended for either a leisure visit or for informal meetings.

The coffee is absolutely perfect - a real joy. The staff are excellent and friendly.... the only thing that lets it down is the surroundings/atmosphere - it's not very cosy at all - but the coffee is out of this world! Just try it!

After a very stressful Friday morning, my friend and I came upon Kahawa and thought we would try it. We're so glad we did; lovely welcome from the very smiley lady with the northern accent. Ordered coffee and needed sustenance but couldn't decide on the choice of cakes available, so smiley lady suggested toasted tea cake - perfect! And they were! The coffee is good, and reasonably priced too.The toilet was spotless and we had a lovely chat with smiley lady, whose husband and sister-in-law were also working there. She told me that Kahawa means coffee in Swahili, and congratulated me on my pronunciation of it!It was a lovely experience after a very stressful morning and we shall certainly return.PS I think they had every right to turn away people carrying Starbucks coffee in to their coffee shop - what a cheek!

Until my working hours recently changed I came here everyday for my coffee on the way to work. Now I only drop in a couple of times a week but I am still treated as a regular. If you want an independent, friendly café serving great coffee then you really can't go wrong. First name service and your order being prepared as you walk through the door works for me!

Rude staff members and nothing special- that is all I have to say. They almost kicked us out and they deleted the review I have posted. I have purchased coffee from this place and I saw a friend passing by. He came in and because he had a coffee from Starbucks in his hand, one of the staff members kicked us out.

I’ve been getting my coffee fix here for years. They are superb. I love their own blend coffee so much I buy bags of pre-ground coffee for me at home and also beans for my daughter’s family.

Having visited many independent coffee shops around the country it's always a pleasure (and relief) to return to Kahawa. The Kahawa blend is simply the best around, the staff are charming, engaging and the service is very quick.

I’ve been here a few times now to get the frappe. I’m not big on hot drinks and so was suggested to try out the frappe on my first visit by the staff. There are many flavours to try and I’ve already gone through 5/6 flavours. The strawberry and chocolate are my favourite. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t tried it already! Staff are always friendly, atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I feel this place is underrated!

I was pleasantly surprised to find this delightful cafe when looking for a quick drink with friends recently. The decor is classy, the ambient music is relaxing and the service is impeccable. I had a flat white which was delicious, we will definitely visit again!

This is a regular pit-stop for me. I usually have a coffee and a teacake or a susage batch. The staff are great, very friendly and accommodating. Recently I was put on a special diet by my doctor and the staff went out of their way to help me. I am not aware of the full extent of the menu but my experience would suggest that they would cater for vegetarians, vegans and those on gluten free diets. The cafe is well located close to the amenities of the city centre, has a welcoming atmosphere with pleasant music in the back ground, comfortable seating and fair prices.

This coffee house has the nicest Latte that I have tasted and I have had coffee all around the world. I am so lucky as this is right next to my office so that is a huge bonus. The staff are lovely and friendly. It has a nice vibe and plays lovely chilled out music. Its a nice place to unwind from the office too...... :)

Stopped in for a quick coffee whilst visiting the local University. Wasn’t expecting much but it was very pleasant inside, nice furniture, good coffee and pleasant staff. Only let down was the staff started their end of day clean down around 15.20 when the cafe...

This place has a leafy view although a busy road. Coffee was fine. Music was good cafe style. Staff friendly. Very clean and tidy. A few easy chairs and a sofa as well as cafe tables. Newspapers. I recommend.

Great Coffee, friendly staff and relaxed environment. It's a small family run business ..... a refreshing change from the uniform environments and service (up-selling) of the big coffee chains.

No atmosphere but thats ok. No food was available except a few rolls or something left in the fridge. That's how they keep 5 stars hygiene rating, by not actually offering freshly cooked cafe food so there's no work to do. Was served quickly but really the coffees are just with added flavoured syrup. Was stared at by staff the whole time. Im suspicious about how they are getting 5 star reviews with descriptions that dont add up. Place is aways empty, how do they make it pay?

Well I have used this place quite a few times now, and have always found their hot chocolate to be the best in the area. The staff are great, and always try their best to make every visit an occasion to remember. Don't forget to ask about free loyalty cards

Popped in for a sit down and a drink after a long train journey, let me tell you something: definitely worth it! The interior of Kahawa is beautiful and the drinks were brilliant; the best latte I've ever had.

This is without doubt the best café in the city. The staff are friendly and helpful, the prices are very good and the quality is great. The premises are spotlessly clean, there's never dirty cups or plates left lying round for long, and the atmosphere is always welcoming and relaxed.

This is a little gem that a friend found and turned me onto. The Chocolate orange Mocha is absolutely divine and the mince pies are as delicious as they are enormous! They have a great range of coffee, tea and hot chocolate here, something for everyone. The cakes all look amazing, over time we plan to try them all! Another plus is the service. The barristas were knowledgeable about the products and very helpful as well as being friendly and polite. Service with a smile.

I love going to Kahawa Café, the first time you walk in you will notice the warm friendly atmosphere with calming music quietly playing in the background. The staff are warm and friendly and very helpful. Now if you like lemon drizzle cake, I can tell you that they have the best :) and the coffee the most delicious coffee I have ever tasted to date. I go to Kahawa as often as I can, and you may go in there feeling a bit down in the dumps but the staff have an uncanny Knack of making you feel special.

We had some snacks and coffee here and the owners were really nice and gave us a good service.It was busy as it was lunch time and nice place will definitely go again.

This has always been the place, that I keep telling myself that I need to go to, and then I finally I made an effort. There is an amazing range of hot drinks, and I loved the hot chocolates. Particularly enjoyed the fact that they were able to make soya milk hot chocolate taste so good! Worth a walk in the rain!

My wife and I needed a pick me up after a long early morning drive to the city. The 2 shot Americano coffees were absolutely perfect... Strong, yet still full of flavour. The cafe was spotlessly clean, the server was extremely attentive and polite, even the Toffee and Banana muffin was of top quality. We are not from the Midland area, but were we to be so I am sure we would be regulars, we had to make do by buying a kilo of beans to take with us back to the North East.

Visit Kahawa Cafe every week and sometimes twice a week. The staff are very friendly and always have a smile on their faces. The coffee is so nice especially the vanilla skinny latte. I even purchased the coffee beans for my coffee machine at home and the guy was very helpful to advise how to store the beans. Would definitely recommend this place!!!!

Second time I have been into Kahawa and I had a double espresso again. The first time was not just a one off, if anything today's was even better. Real care is taken with the coffee with precise dosing into the group and a click calibrated tamper. Having tried most around London including Monmouth (both branches) the espresso here is certainly equal with the best I have tasted. The only one that is possibly better (on a good day) is Belzac's in the Distillery District of Toronto who roast their own beans.Definitely worth a try if you are around

We almost didn't go into this cafe but that would have been a missed opportunity to savour the best smooth coffee and flavoursome tea in the city...and I don't give compliments like that lightly. The place was immaculate and the services was friendly and efficient. Only one toilet but that too was clean and suitable for wheelchair users. Free wifi and tasty different food on the menu at fair prices. In the words of Arnie 'I'll be back.'

Went here at 9:45am on a Friday morning in June and asked for 2 take away Coffees . The barista said “sure” took my money and then said “it’s going to be a few minutes as I have these to do “ gesturing to 4 cardboard cups in front of the coffee machine. Looking around I would say the place was only at about 20% capacity and whilst waiting I used the facilities , my partner waiting at the counter. ( we were there because we were attending a wedding in the nearby registry office ) . When I returned to the Counter the barista said “can you sit down please “ in an abrupt manner ,to which I replied “ but I only asked for a takeaway “ .I noticed that No progress had been made with the 4 coffees ( now 7 minutes in ) and now the Barista became ruder “ I said you would have to wait” , but that was after she has taken my money ( off course ) and proceeded to argue with me . I asked for a refund and left after 10 minutes and still no progress made with those original 4 coffees with the barista bleating in the backgroundI should point out I was with the Bride , complete with giveaway wedding corsage and it only goes to show no matter how big your day is this Barista is far far more important than you and I suspect any customer. Fortunately the rest of the day went very well after the appalling service here .Avoid , no manners and no class.

I use this cafe on a regular basis. The food and drink has always been great and they have wifi, which is always a bonus when wanting to work. The cafe is run by a family who are very friendly and take the time to get to know there customers. This cafe is idea if you want to meet someone for a business meeting. I would and have recommended this cafe to many friends and colleagues.

What's a batch? It's completely different from a roll, bap, barm, cob or stottie. Toasted roll-shaped scrumptiousness smothered in buttery warmth that melts in the mouth. What a great way to start the day.PS The pot of tea was great too.

I call myself a coffee snob. I live in Coventry, and as with anyone else, have to venture in to the City on a few occasion a week. The way I plan my outing, I go from one side of the City to the other on 1 bus ride that drops me at the door of Kahawa Café.I could say the Coffee is the Highlight of this Café, but it isn't (This is a good thing).First and foremost seems to be for them here, Hygiene... and you know your in the right place, when its a pleasure to know there is a clean decent Toilets to use.Then with welcoming, friendly staff in a well light, airy and comfortable surroundings... they go and top it off with Great Coffee. The light snack menu (Hot and Cold) is great as well. You can even see all they do behind the counter and there has immaculate Hygiene as well.If your like me, during the spring and summer (Any good weather) they have an outside section for smokers, or anyone that just wants to sit have coffee and massage your voyeuristic tendencies.Got to say for me, this one has the 20 out of 10 and Wi-Fi to boot.Kahawa, is a great pit stop, a place to start your shopping trip or to finish it off from. A great place to meet up with friends or just relax on your own.Please go there and try it, you wont be sorry... I dare you to prove me wrong...

Living in Berlin, I am spoilt for café choices but coming back home to Coventry I am glad to have found Kahawa, which is cosy, has a friendly staff and best of all they have a really good house blend.

Not being a fan of corporate franchises; I was amazed to find an independent coffee shop that serves coffee just the way I like it, and to top it off, I was able to use the WiFi to send some important work emails.

Being a coffee geek, visiting coffee shops can more often than not be very disappointing experience. Kahawa is different. The coffee is fresh it is ground on demand and the coffee is served in traditional sizes.

Excellent coffee, pleasant staff with helpful and prompt service. Plenty of space to sit and read by the large windows.

Came here because of the good reviews and didn't disappoint. Lovely chilled atmosphere, really good quality coffee the variety on offer is huge! Much better value than the chain cafes too!

This cafe is hidden away outside of the bull yard and on the opposite side of the road from the in-spire bar. We were glad we found this place. Great coffee and really pleasant staff. Independent coffee shops are worth supporting when they're as good as this.

The staff are really friendly and make you feel so welcome. Lovely tea and biscuit too! Table service because i had to wait for them to make the drink, they didn't leave you waiting around unlike some national chain coffee shops.

Kahawa is my favourite coffee place in Coventry, no argument. The coffee is really nice (smooth, no strong after-taste), the staff is brilliant, and it has to be one of the cleanest places I've been to.Whether for take-away or for a work meeting, this is the place I always end up going when I want coffee.

I discovered this cafe not long after beginning work in Coventry. It makes a nice change to the chain cafes to be found in the city. The coffee is good, there is plenty of space so if you are looking for somewhere to sit and relax for a bit its definitely a good spot to head for. The fresh cakes always look good. The staff are friendly. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a caffeine hit on the way to work, a quick lunch or a place to meet with friends for coffee.

i regularly visit Kahawa for coffee with my friend. There is an extensive coffee menu and the lovely staff are always happy to advise on anything. They also do sandwiches, paninis and cakes which are also excellent. As with the bigger chains, they have a reward coffee card and meal deals. Unlike them though, they serve you at your table when you have ordered at the counter. There is a large TV screen showing the news which is nice but not intrusive. There are a couple of cosy sofas and chairs in addition to the usual seating. They also now serve wine which is nice if you want to pop in after work. I have watched this cafe develop since it opened and it is going from strength to strength. If you know Coventry, be sure to check it out. If you are visiting Coventry take a bit of time out to find it...you won't be disappointed!

Needed a place to unwind after difficult meeting and the offer of a Kahawa coffee experience caught my eye.From the moment I arrived I could tell this was different, in a great way.The man and woman team who greeted me couldn't have been more welcoming, with their offer of great coffee made exactly how I wanted it. When the coffee and sandwich arrived it was served with a huge smile and genuinely interested in what I thought of their coffee.I don't write these normally but this is a little piece of tranquility in the heart of Coventry well worth finding time for and make the most of the relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff.Paul

Stepped in this morning for a cuppa coffee and a quick bite. An open airy space. Inviting. Good coffee, friendly service and offers warm food! Excellent!Being situated close to the centre of town, is never far from a car park or two (for those who are inclined to drive)

Just opposite Central Methodist church. I went into here one afternoon and had Hot Chocolate with chilli, which was really nice just the right amount of chilli. There was a very good choice of hot and cold drink, as well as snakes.

The FAMILY at Kahawa Café is amazing. Their menu items and drinks are to die for. It is an absolute shame, they don't get more business through there or are open longer. Whether alcoholic drinks or regular coffee drinks, they use true ingredients and remain true to their purpose. Seeing them using actual chocolate chips for their hot chocolate is amazing. I'm a regular now and enjoy their drinks especially after work. Definitely try the Kahlua Latte if you have time. Only downside is local laws prevent you from being able to leave with the drink. Nonetheless the atmosphere is peaceful enough to enjoy in house.

This is a very nice and new coffee house in Coventry. The venue is located near the Bull yard, so within a 5 minutes walk from the precinct. It offers the traditional coffees, teas and variants, as well as more boozy options for people who want to spice up their drink! On top of that, they offer snacks, sandwiches, cakes, and other pastries.Everything seems to have been thought about, from the colour scheme to the furniture, down to the music, trendy but with simplicity. The staff seems to be really passionate about their business and they were very friendly from the moment we entered the cafe until we left.The drinks we had were good (coffee and spiced tea), and the pastries were decent. The cakes looked appetising than the cookies though. I was a bit disappointed by the prices of the food which was a bit on the higher end. The place was very clean. I would only comment on the fact that despite the addition of enticing sandwiches and access to beers, and liquored hot drinks, it resembles a lot many other cafes in town. I hope that the drive of the owners will allow for more creativity.Access is easy for people in the town centre. Many parking options, but a few minutes walk away. It is also 10 minutes away from the train station!

I came across this cafe whilst organising my friend's Hen party. We had an afternoon tea there.The staff were very accommodating and attentive.All the girls enjoyed a festive glass of sparkling wine with strawberries, variety of cakes and simple but tasty sandwiches.Special thanks to the staff for allowing us to stay a bit longer even though the cafe was meant to close earlier.Simple,friendly and liberal place to have a nice coffee and cake.Would recommend!

First visit, with a friend, after seeing the cafe by chance. Excellent friendly staff, good menu and tasty products. As said in an earlier review there is no critism of the cafe and staff but it does lack some "soul". Maybe some colour or a design screen to break up the space to give it some character of its own. Would go again. Strange to have to be let in to the only toilet. Must have suffered mis-use at some time I presume.

A visit here on a Groupon offer with my 10 year old daughter kicked off the school summer holidays. After an initial mix up on booking over which type of voucher we had (lunch or afternoon tea), this was quickly resolved by paying a very small amount extra for a combination of the two! Freshly made sandwiches with a choice of filling, served with deliciously flavoured frappes followed by scrumptious waffles. The staff were attentive and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and will be back again soon.

Girl behind the counter was very friendly, recommended a flat white for me and brought it over to my table; coffee was very nice, wifi was not slow, chair was comfy. Cakes looked delicious but I'd had a big breakfast so didn't partake. Look forward to my next visit. Thanks

Went on late one afternoon for a coffee. Service was excellent and so was the coffee. This cafe has instantly made my number one spot.

My friend & I 'took' afternoon tea at the Kahawa Cafe this afternoon & it was delightful. We were made to feel very welcome & left feeling suitably stuffed! The food was lovely, service great & the coffee was amazing! Would definitely recommend a visit!

Myself and a friend had a groupon afternoon tea and sparkling wine here on Friday afternoon. I would highly recommend this cafe to anybody. The staff were so helpful and friendly and service was fantastic. It's has a lovely relaxed atmosphere where we could chat for hours. The good was lovely and we left feeling very happy and full.

After reading a lot about this cafe, we finally got to go, whilst out shopping. I had an Americano, daughter a hot chocolate and waffle. A lovely calm atmosphere with friendly staff and a spacious seating area...it didn't feel cramped and frantic like some of the chain coffee shops....and it cost about a third of the price! The staff were friendly and everywhere looked spotlessly clean. On leaving i noticed the cost of a glass of wine was 2.99 which seemed good value for town centre...i bet they charge more than that in the pub across the road
