This restaurant is a gem: spectacular food and staff. Lovely space, also patio, in a quiet part of Stratford. We all felt it was superlative, every bite!

I was expecting something overpriced being the only cafe in the vicinity, but it was reasonably priced. The building is little more than an extension but the setting is glorious. The staff were all happy and welcoming, the homemade cakes were delicious. The coffee was a local blend and quite dark so suited more to Americano than Cappuccino.

Nice and quiet in a beautiful garden just opposite Anne Hathaway’s cottage. We had great service and beautiful tea and soups and bread. They pride in having all local produce from their own gardens or Mary Arden’s farm! And don’t miss the cute quotes about tea hanging up on the walls. A nice way to start or end your Shakespeare tour.

Lovely garden setting with the worst service I have experienced in some time. I asked for a savoury scone, listed on the menu, only to be told they didn’t have any. As I can’t eat sweet cakes etc I asked if they could do toast? “No, toasted teacake? No, just what’s on the menu”. Our party of six then ordered various coffees and teas and out of the six two were the wrong order and two hot chocolates were barely warm. This café is so well placed to attract tourists, who only go there once, that they don’t bother with customer service, sad as the setting is lovely.

Lovely setting but let down by old and tatty outdoor tables, stale scones and tepid coffee. Also very expensive. Was going to be lunch but a £6.95 for a sandwich which was all that was on the menu for lunch, we didn't bother.

If you are visiting Anne Hathaway’s cottage, this is a don’t miss! Linda, our wait person, could not have been more delightful! There were six of us Americans and we were all delighted. We were served high tea and we were not disappointed. So much food! Sandwiches, cakes, scones were to die for! Relaxed atmosphere and located in a beautiful walking area even if you don’t visit the cottage, which we didn’t.

Called in after going for a walk to Anne Hathaways childhood home. It was a beautiful day and my mum and I thought it would be the perfect place to get an ice cream and enjoy the garden. We visited the tea rooms after walking to Anne Hathaway's cottage from Stratford upon Avon. It was a really hot day and the tea rooms were a welcome sight after what felt like a trek from the town. We had a tea and a coffee followed by the obligatory piece of cake. Well we thought we deserved it after that walk. We had the caramel shortbread which was lovely. We sat inside as there was limited seating with shade on a hot day outside which was a pity as the surrounds are beautiful. Can't fault it but maybe a few more umbrellas would be good.

Such a pity that this well located cafe is so appallingly managed. Really the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust should know better. We went for a light lunch and waited in a long queue for the uninterested staff to tell us that Sandwiches could be made to order but the menus were by the door. They couldn't be bothered to fetch one though . Service is painfully slow too. The poor chap behind us tried to order one of the hot meals on the blackboard to be told that the kitchen was closed (at 1.15pm!) due to a coach party due later. We saw numerous families leave since there wasn't much to buy. 5 sorry looking bits of cake, one cookie and no scones! We eventually had an overpriced cheese roll which was quite good when it arrived. All together I wouldn't bother... Better to go back into town where there are numerous places to eat where the staff do care!

After exploring this beautiful cottage, we enjoyed drinks and a Victoria sponge outside and the wonderful view of the cottage. Staff were friendly and helpful too. I visited the tearoom a with my partner while visiting the pretty and historic cottage - my expectations were that we'd get a quintessentially British cream tea. The reality was somewhat different! Dirty tables, the limited clear tables had dirty tablecloths despite them being "wipe clean" rather than material. The scone was of the slightly stale and long life kind, not pleasant and whilst the cream was clotted it was in a pre-packed form - no effort needed. Cake plates on display with only crumbs and odd ends - although it was gone 3pm I'd have thought this would be prime "tea time." It was such a shame as there is so much potential with this place and it just rings of a little laziness. Would recommend you get your tea and cake elsewhere before visiting the cottage as there isn't much else in the vicinity.

Awful lunch, we were surrounded by wasps to the extent that we had to leave our food and move inside. No help was provided by staff at all, I do think an apology and refund should of been offered. Also, I think we should of been advised about the wasps prior to sitting down. Maybe they saved us from a bad lunch anyway as the bread served was far too thick and hard to eat from what I saw. 2 stars given for the nice handy location next to Ann Hathaway's cottage but can't give any for anything else!

Unfortunately I totally agree with the lady who wrote the birthdays disaster review . I am 51, my daughter and her boyfriend took me to the cafe for a birthday lunch, half of the cafe is a conservatory it was pokey and the plastic table cloths made the area feel sweaty! The little vases on the table were sweet but were filled with plastic sweet peas with a £ 3.99 price tag hanging off them, the tags were on every table, why use plastic flowers ? the area is completely swamped with beautiful wild flowers the whole set up lacked thought and attention to detail they definitely haven't made the best presentation to what they have, although the garden tables were well set out. With regards to service the lady serving was distinctly impatient when I had to choose an alternative lunch as my first choice was not available. When my food arrived the Brie tart was tasteless, the salad would have been ok but the cucumber was brown, I obviously didn't eat it , the food was put on the table and the waitress didnt offer anything with it ie sauces, Mayo ect,. My daughters boyfriend had the tea for one, which consists of a pot of tea, sandwich and cake selection , as the previous lady said they were crusty door steps (fine for a 20 year old ) but no good for someone elderly, there should be choice at that price. The cakes were not what was expected there was a flapjack( American home from me) and a scone with jam and cream which was ok, but surely an English tea would have been better reflected in more traditional cakes like Victoria sponge or jam tarts. Scones and jam are lovey but too filling with sandwiches it all seemed to lack thought, I hope they see the reviews and improve these issues because they could be so much better than they are.

Saw this offer on the internet for an afternoon sparkling tea it sounded lovely. It was my mums 75th Birthday yesterday, so I thought it would be nice treat to take her around the gardens of Ann Hathaways cottage and then go across the road to a nice quaint little café restaurant for a sparkling afternoon tea for two, Well how wrong can you be, the nice quaint little café is a large conservatory turned into a café with a garden seated area outside. We got there a little early so had a cup of tea first inside which cost £4.95 we were surprised at the cost as it was quite expensive, the table we sat at had a plastic cloth on it that was not exactly clean and the table wobbled so badly I tried to wedge something under the leg to stop it but failed, whilst trying that I noticed the floor of the café was dirty with lots of crisps , crumbs etc all over it .. I suggested to my mum that as it was such a lovely warm day we should take our afternoon tea outside at one of the garden tables, so we moved and I informed the waitress that's where we would be sitting if she would like to serve us now. It is a gorgeous setting outside but yet again the table had obviously never been wiped with a wet cloth and was dirty. The waitress firstly came out and served our glasses of sparkling wine which were lovely. She then brought out two pots of tea and cups and saucers and plonked them on the table on a round black tray which when we took the items off was the filthiest tray ive ever seen !!!! she then came over with a small 3 tier cake stand which had two thick pieces of a brown cake on the top, underneath were 6 sandwiches made with extremely thick crusted white bread, with ham and cucumber, tuna mayo and egg and grated cheese on. I don't like white bread so a choice of white or brown was not even an option. On the bottom layer were two scones with pots of jam and clotted cream to put on. When my mother sliced her scone with some difficulty it was stale in the middle!!!! this was the last straw as the tea that was served we couldn't drink either as the teapots were so dirty I couldn't take the risk. I have complained and I got an apology but it still ruined my mums birthday for her. I am writing such a bad review as I live local to Stratford upon Avon and run my own business and if this is the standard of service they are giving our tourists that visit here I am ashamed . The tea could have been served in proper china pots with china cups on a tray with a pretty doily on, the cakes need to be a selection of small petite French fancies and the sandwiches need to be delicate with crusts off and a selection of bread. The whole place needs cleaning and the staff need uniforms. After speaking to other people that were sat around us they all thought the prices were far to high aswell . I Hope they can take this review as constructive critiscism and can do something about it .
