Great Pasties, and salad options

Just bought and ate 5 pasties. 2 Flaky pastry steak, 2 Cheese and vegetable, and one short crust steak. General opinions in the family are that this is top tier delicious as good as anything you'll have anywhere pasties. The flaky pastry was crisp and delicious, a stand out alteration to the regular short crust. But the filling was also top notch. The steak was delicious and generous, less peppery than many other pasties but in no way disappointing. For me, maybe my favourite Cornish pasty ever. The cheese pasties basically just substitute cheese for steak and I stole a taste and they were really good. If you're in this part of the world, make the detour to this stonking good pasty shop. There are cakes and sausage rolls and drinks available too, but this is just a straight up pasty review. 10/10, 5/5, 100/100.

Cornish Oven pasties used to be excellent and I used to recommend them to other people. Last week we had 2 pasties which were just OK. Today the flaky steak and flaky vegetable ones I bought were not great. My husband said his pasty seemed to be slimy and bland tasting. My vegetable pasty had tough, undercooked pastry and the veg was also undercooked. It looked and tasted like it had been hanging around in the warming oven all morning.Both pasties were not piping hot (bought at 12.30). Can no longer recommend.

Unfortunately my pasty was hardly warm! I did ask if they could warm it up but she said they don’t have the facility to do that, fair enough. These are my favourite pasties and I hate to say this was the worst one I ever had. If it’s cold it might as well be a ginsters 🤮 i did go back a third time to ask for a refund but if I didn’t ask it wouldn’t have been offered, you’d only receive “yeahhhh, sorry.” From the more senior member of staff which is what I received the second time I went in. A different women seemed more professional and offered a warm pasty if they could find one at the back but it wasn’t up to scratch so at least I got a refund so I thank that person for giving it a go. Unfortunately I’m still hungry :(( I have had many pasties here that were hot and they were scrumptious so maybe I came at a time they warmed up the left overs from the day before 🤷🏾‍♂️

On the off chance as we drove past, we popped in for some cornish pasties. 1 beef steak and 1 cheese flaky pasties later, which we shared, omg!! Won't need to eat again today, as these were super tasty and very filling. Staff really friendly and persuasive as we also bought a slice of 'heava' cake. That will be for later tonight 😋 Unfortunately the pasties didn't come out on the photos, but we'll try again later. The heava cake did however. 😁

We stopped over for a snack and did not have a good experience. The lady who served us was quite rude and unfriendly and it seemed like it was because we were people of colour. She did not seem to behave this way to the other customers. As for the food, it was also disappointing. We had a few pastries and they were all incredibly salty - would not recommend. However one good thing was the coffee and walnut cake.

I love Cornish oven but this store on Jelbert way has gone down hill, pasty’s and sausage rolls are always cold, when the store first opened it was spot on, but now just very disappointing, I go there atleast once a week with work colleagues and they agree, so we have decided to stop and go elsewhere now.

Very disappointed, I work locally and have been coming to Cornish oven once a week for lunch. Every time I've been the pasties are not ready or have just come out of the oven piping hot. It's ridiculous to me that Cornish oven are unable to get pasties ready for lunchtime service. The staffs don't care attitude needs to improve.

Beautiful pasties filling is lovely meat is good quality.

Can't comment on the food but the customer service is appalling. I went into the shop and asked if I needed to pre order frozen pasties. The assistant said no they had them in stock and rudely walked off to answer the phone. A few hours later, the same assistant abruptly informed me that I should have called up and pre ordered, she then acted oblivious when I pointed out that she'd advised me earlier that it was unnecessary.

Very disappointed. I went after reading the reviews. We bought two flakey steak pasties for just under £10. They are huge, but both had one piece of steak each. Large, tasteless, and almost meat free!

Nothing GF asked for oat millk latter and got charge extra 30p . Son had pasty and cold drink £10.60 Definitely won't be going to any cornish oven in future. Especially when they by cake from Booker's !

Couldn’t comment on the food to be honest as we didn’t eat from here, but we’re disappointed that this place didn’t actually sell Cornish pasties so went elsewhere to get them

Smelt delicious was really looking forward to eating but what a disappointment. The meat one had only 2 pieces of meat in it and the vegetable one was exactly the same but without the 2 pieces of meat (for the same price) and completely tasteless. A rip off - there are much better pasties elsewhere give this place a miss so as not to be disappointed.

The pasties are tasty. Very friendly staff that explains you what each pasty is made of. The pasties are a bit greasy, but I guess that's what it is supposed to be.

Delicious, straight-from-the-oven Cornish pasties, sausage rolls and pastries. Very good quality pastry, and sizes are large - the extra large steak could easily feed 2 people. Drinks, salads and sweet treats also available.

Delivery drivers looking for a quick, hearty filling. Absolutely blown away by the quality, size taste and most importantly the SERVICE. Photo attached was the xxl steak. 7 quid. Worth it...Bargain! SEE YOU AGAIN SOON!

Excellent pastie and friendly staff

What!?! I was instructed to move my car as parking anywhere other than the far side of the car park causes chaos during busy periods. This was 8.30 am, on a rainy day in January,we were the only car in the car park,with very few cars even passing on this back road. Where the hoards where coming from is anybody's guess!?! Food OK, slightly better than Gregg's How people still behave like Victor Meldrew in Customer Services these days is beyond me.

The sausage rolls were so dry that they were inedible. The pototo in the steak pies were undercooked. Very disappointing.

Customer service very friendly and nice quick efficient service. Good parking space plenty of room.

We bought five absolutely bangin' large Cornish Pasties! Really well filled, good value and were still plenty warm enough when we are them a few hours later on a day out. Highly recommended by The George Family!

Pastys or salad box ? Difficult choices that must be made

Visited in September after reading the reviews, definitely was not disappointed, it was the best pasty we had ever had, so good we had to go back a few days later for second helpings, would recommend to anyone.

I had an issue with a food purchase in Penzance a couple of weeks ago. I have to say that the staff at the branch, and the customer service manager at head office, were superb. They went over & above themselves to rectify my complaint. Very professional, and customer service at its finest.

Flippin gert pasty! Couldn't quite manage it in one sitting! But will try better next time! Deffo worth the 9hr drive, will visit again soon, would also like to wish the love lady serving me a happy birthday! Thank you very much, I'm set for the day now!

Hands down the best pasty in Cornwall (and I've eaten a lot)! Excellent choice of fillings but I recommend the XXL steak traditional; a meal in itself! Very reasonably priced and excellent food. Just go; you'll be glad you did!

Best vegetable/vegan pasty in the Duchy. It's hot, its peppr'y. Handsome bit of scran.

Went here after searching Google and Trip Advisor for highly reviewed pasties. I got the shortcrust steak. Best Pasty I’ve ever had, although I’ve only ever had other pasties in/around London. Either way, it was great. Highly recommended.
