I had 3 meals here and each was great but equally each needed minor adjustments. 1. Moules: Perfectly cooked, good sauce and chips but instead of a fresh crispy baguette there was some bland sliced bread that might have been flavoured but who could tell. 2. Steak: Best steak ever, ok sauce, great chips but it needed a crisp salad to balance the taste. 3. Pulled Pork Bun: Well cooked but oddly bland and no sign of any slaw again left the dish unbalanced. Overall good food in need of some thought and excellent service.

We really liked the artistic atmosphere and the unique decor in the restaurant. The food was very tasty and the service was absolutely attentive and friendly.

We had a perfectly nice meal here - my daughter lives nearby - but I’ve been trying ever since to book a stay in the hotel over the New Year. I’ve just had to give up. Not only were no emails ever replied to but, when I managed to get a reply via Instagram, I just keep getting fobbed off with ‘ we haven’t set our rates yet’. This is just plain weird: how is it impossible to book a room four months - as it is now- in advance?? Sadly have now booked elsewhere

Can only speak in regards to drinks, but I’ve been 4 times now in the last 2 months and every time there’s been at least a 15 minute wait to receive our drinks after ordering. It’s understandable for cocktails that it can take longer, but for a pint and glass of wine, you would expect quicker. Seems like the bar staff are instructed to serve as ordered in sequence, which is fine, but I’d like to think there’s a better solution than waiting 15-20 minutes each time for quick drinks. Bare in mind, the periods attended have also been rather quiet. Can’t complain about the interior, lovely decor. Beer is also very nice. Just a source of frustration. I’ll try again soon and hope…

Absolute pleasure staying here at the end of June 2024. Had dinner and breakfast also and loved everything about staying. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Big thanks to Johnathan who greeted us and went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our stay.

A lovely location with top food, we loved it and were there twice for dinner. A great choice of meat, fresh fish and vegetarian dishes. Also the service is friendly and top.

Loved that we happened upon this spot in uptown Penzance (away from the very busy harbor promenade). We had lamb meal and a steak meal. Both delicious. Service was excellent. Big plus is that they serve dinner on Sunday evenings (many places here do not. Very fun art throughout the place

This is by far one of the BEST hidden gems hidden deep in the historic streets located in lands end! A big shout out to Gareth! He took us behind the scenes to the infamous smoker where we ordered a beer soaked chicken it was phenomenal, 100% worth the visit. Phil treat us all like family, the drinks are the most reasonable priced during the peak season especially during a festival.

My family and I had such a great time when we came to the barn for dinner. We had already heard that a new chef had joined the team with a new menu so knew we had to try it as we usually just come in for coffee or light lunch. We were sat by a lady on bar who greeted us, promptly taking us over to our table, she checked for any allergies and was the most helpful with my mums gluten intolerance and a few other requests and helped us through the menu on any other questions we had The food was absolutely delicious. Very impressed that GLUTEN FREE focaccia is on offer too!!! For a weekday this place was busy but service was still excellent despite only seeing a couple of other waitresses working. Looking forward to trying more of the menu

Turned up without a reservation as a solo diner and was made to feel very welcome. Food, ambiance and service were all first class (particularly the service thank you Lily L). I had the mussels and they were amongst the nicest I've ever eaten. Good value I thought all things sconsidered.

We were staying on Chapel Street and fancied trying the restaurant for breakfast. That was a good decision. My eggs benedict were excellent and my partner's scrambled eggs were also very good (in a generous portion). The restaurant area also became our wine bar of choice on a couple of evenings, as the list is well chosen, with some available by the glass or carafe. It's a very different environment from the Benbow across the street and well worth a try.

I booked Sunday lunch at Artists Residence for my family’s annual gathering and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the food, the service or the venue. At a bleak time prior to an early Easter, this lovely building and its staff provided an occasion to remember. The food was excellent (and one of our party is a chef!) and the staff went out of their way to give us the private room we wanted. Thank you all so much.

I booked the banquet room for my friends engagement party/meal for 12 people and it could not have been any better!! The staff were so accommodating and friendly, allowing me to come in early to decorate and they made the room just perfect! The food was lovely and their amazing hospitality contributed to the perfect night that it was! Thank you so much !!!

We booked a three night stay under their winter three for two stay which represented great value. We often visit the area and had eaten here for dinner several times and we had also stayed at The Artists Residence in London which was very nice but this by far surpassed our stay there. The building itself is beautiful and has been styled with flair and imagination. Beds are super big and comfortable, showers brilliant with lovely products and little extras like the Roberts radio are a real treat. We only ate in the dining room one evening as we visited friends for the other two but the food we had was excellent. Breakfasts are taken in a more casual room and are just as delicious and served by a lovely guy who is very attentive. We noticed quite a few locals coming in for breakfast too which is great and rain brought us back to the hotel yesterday at lunchtime and it was equally as busy. . We are going on to the Lizard today but will be sorry to leave really, we have very much felt at home here and I am sure we will return - many thanks to all the staff.

I am celiac and I eat gluten free. Here I found a warm and welcoming place; beautiful to start your day with. I was able to eat eggs and salmon with gluten free bread and I added gluten free hot chocolate. Everything was very good and I enjoyed it a lot.

Easy booking online, lovely welcome, cosy dining experience, and a bar steward who was amazingly attentive. The food was absolutely delicious (we both had pork) too.

We visit Penzance a lot but have never been to The Artist Residence before now. The surroundings are very tasteful and clean. There was a definite relaxing atmosphere about the place too, with a very friendly female member of staff who took care of us during our visit. We were seated in a nice warm room and perused the menu. I ordered the Eggs Florentine, while my Wife ordered Scrambled Eggs on Toast. My breakfast was delicious, well poached eggs on a delicious buttered Brown/Rye Sourdough bread. The hollandaise sauce was generous and tasty. My Wife's generous portion of Scrambled Eggs, also served on Sourdough were very nice (tho well seasoned with salt). I had a delicious Americano coffee with my breakfast. We didn't feel hurried to leave afterwards so we stayed a while longer with another coffee having moved to the sofa. We will certainly return here again for food and drink.

The Artist Residence looks great, a relaxed and well furnished coffee lounge, which on a rainy morning was busy. Across the hallway is a nicely appointed dining room with an adjoining cosy snug. We called in for lunch and opted for the Soup and Sandwich lunch deal. There were only two other couples dining both of whom had already ordered. The waitress was nice and friendly and took our simple order. The food took forever and neither of the other couples seemed happy when their food eventually arrived. One had chicken which was too dry to eat and he was readily refunded. We had a small portion of good chicken and bean soup, and not full sized sandwiches. My Reuben had grey tough pastrami I couldn't find the promised saukraut. My wife's pulled brisket was similarly dry and tough. We should have complained but were already running late, and at £10 a head it wasn't worth the trouble. The chef (cook) needs to learn to multitask to keep service moving and have much better quality control.

I have wanted to stop at the Artist Residence for some time now. With my daughter in town visiting it provided the opportunity to go. The restaurant is a lovely, comfortable atmosphere. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff, able to answer all our questions about the menu. Cocktail menu is unique and the food offerings simply delicious. The blueberry crumble was made to order and did not disappoint. We will definitely return.

I booked a Sunday Lunch for a large group of friends to celebrate a significant birthday. The staff have, without fail, been helpful and amenable. The food was enjoyed by everyone and the various dietary requirements were accommodated well. We all enjoyed the afternoon immensely and I know we will be going back, though perhaps not all at once next time!

Incredible place. Great atmosphere, friendly and polite service and the most amazing food, all at a great price. Would highly recommend a visit, we have booked again already and can't wait to go back.

Lovely atmosphere! Whilst at a loss for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning, I sought out a cooked breakfast, I can happily say that this did not disappoint. Fire was lit, and the staff were friendly. Next time I'm back, I'll be sure to return.

From the friendly staff to the excellent food, the non pretentious atmosphere to the eclectic cocktails. It all adds up to a wonderful experience. Even my seven year old commented to the staff on how their food was amazing. I could not recommend enough.
