Been going here for years and it's still amongst my favourite pubs. One slight niggle is the prices of the beer. I'm not sure if it's to recoup the costs of the recent refurbishment, but £12.40 for 2 pints of 'neck oil' ipa is a bit steep. 2 pints of catalyst in Atom (which is a much better craft beer), just next door, costs less. Hard to justify!!

Visited for Sunday lunch and pre booked. Our table was set when we arrived and the pub wasn't very busy at 4.30pm on a Sunday afternoon but still had a nice vibe to it. Lovely set table and a great choice of ales and ciders at the impressive bar. Three of us chose the roast beef Sunday lunch and the other ordered a mixed roast Sunday lunch. Beautifully presented when the food arrived, piping hot, with veg and an extra gravy boat on side plates. The beef was cut in thick slices and was delicious. We all cleared our plates and ordered desert. The apple and berrie crumble with custard was exceptional, probably the best I personally have had for a long time, I could have ordered it again! Good service too. All made for a pleasurable relaxed Sunday afternoon. Bill for four Sunday lunches, three deserts and two rounds of drinks, a touch over £100. Exceptional value.

We have only started visiting the Cornerhouse since it was taken over. As we live in Beverley we’re always on the lookout for new eating places. The Cornerhouse didn’t disappoint, the food is fantastic with generous portions especially the duo pies. The fish and chips are lovely, nice white fish with crispy batter and large fillets. Great range of beers will keep any real ale fan going most of the day. Just one niggle which has for me has docked a star to a four star rating, is the volume of music played. Wherever you sit there’s a large speaker and the music can at times kill the conversation, might I suggest it is turned down to a reasonable background level particularly during the day hours and when it is quieter. Other than that a great pub highly recommended.

We arrived about 1030 hrs and the bar staff stated there wasn't a table available at that time, but if you wait at the bar, then you will be seated at the next free table. At about 1035 somebody else arrived after us and was seated straight away ,forgetting about us and when we complained, the staff had the audacity to state"we thought that you was content ,by sitting at the bar",although they had forgotten,us but not our money. We then had our breakfast served to us,but there was no eggs on my large breakfast and when I complained,it was meant with"they are comming sir".We then had to wait for our orange drink and coffee, but the customers who arrived after us compared to me and my wife, was treated like Royalty,as they had their coffee and juice. Finally after waiting another 5 mins, the eggs arrived. We bought a large breakfast, scrambled eggs which was a child's portion and toast with bacon.I realise that prices have increased recently, but for £29.00 this was not worth it and the service was poor and we was treated worse than anyone else, especially as we had already paid ,before the meal was served.Cornerhouse has been known for its excellent breakfasts and it's first class service, unfortuantely today with new owners and staff,it is going to take a very long time, until we repeat the expirience ever again.

I had the Chicken burger and hubby the King Richard burger - the names don't do them justice! I'm not usually a burger eater but I would definitely have it again. 2nd time hubby had Duo of Pies with the creamiest mash! I asked for 2 starters - coriander/chilli prawns and skewered roasted mediterranean vegetables - please could you add some salad? No problem. It was exactly what I wanted. Theo could not have been more helpful - a truly great experience. We may well go back tonight for our Sunday dinner!

Awhile ago now the Cornerhouse was well known for opening its doors at 10am on a sunday to serve a breakfast that was well worth getting up for and making you way into town, it set you up for the day. Today it still relies on that past reputation to serve a breakfast that is one of those that makes you wish you hadnt bothered and stayed in bed. Breakfast for two cost £18, including tea or coffee, The eggs used to be perfectly fried, not anymore, broken yokes and hard...sausages used to be full of flavour, not anymore, bland and pale, toast arrived with butter that seemed frozen, impossible to use, within a few minutes the whole breakfast was cold, the result of being served on a cold plate. Water for the tea was tepid, the whole experience was a compete disappointment. We went there a couple of years ago now and would have recommended this to anybody, now, we would advice people to steer well clear, It trades on what it used to be, and not what it is now..... a better breakfast by far to be found in town.

Hi so I went to the Corner house this evening ordered a pint of larger whisky and coke and two packets of crisps, I paid by card but foolishly didn't look at the machine until my card was over it. £32 pounds I was charged and when I asked if there was a mistake I was informed the whisky was £25 for one shot and I was lucky because the other bottle was £600. Obviously I feel foolish but have learned a lesson and will never return to this establishment.

One girl on the bar(trying her best) and what I can only describe as 2 children serving breakfast. Overcooked eggs and hash browns, only just warm.Had to ask for the toast 3 times. The owner/manager was just pottering about oblivious to the dirty tables and the fact the one girl on the bar was struggling to keep up. Poorly run establishment,we won't eat there again and would not recommend.

Came here today with my brother and father. We don't get to go out much as my father is disabled so planned a nice lunch together. We came here and got a round of drinks and ordered our food. After about 45 minutes waiting (we did anticipate a wait as we ordered as the menus were changing from breakfast to lunch) my brother went to ask how long it would be. We were then notified the kitchen had lost the ticket with our orders so nothing had been made. While we had been waiting though, the 3 dogs in the pub all sat near us had been given sausages and yet nobody walking past had spotted we hadn't been served. We promptly got a refund as we didn't fancy waiting around when lots of people had since arrived after us and ordered roasts. I think a bit of common sense to notice that, since the pub was pretty quiet when we ordered, that no food had come after so long. We ended up going across the street to Sleepers and had an amazing meal. Pretty disappointed overall and feeling quite let down.

Visited recently as 2 couples and a baby. Upon arriving we found the outdoor area swarming with wasps so had to stay inside. Sat at a table that was reserved but had an hour and 20minutes free time before the booking. It took 4 attempts at ordering food, 20minute wait, and a reorder! No sausages, dirty tables. But they had time to remind us 3 times about the time limit on the table, when the place was empty. We had only sat there due to the logistical issues of a pram, someone with a broken ankle on crutches and a pregnant lady. The first order never reached the Kitchen because the guy serving us decided to eat his breakfast first because he was hungover! Took 30 minutes for drinks, staff had no interest.Food eventually came but and was lovely, but coffee was cold and gritty, and funnily enough all the fussing over the table time was wasted as they didn’t turn up anyway. Menu extremely limited on a Sunday, no cold sandwiches, only breakfast foods. Nothing suitable for small children/babies. Will not be returning.

Called in today for breakfast, such a disappointment. Ordered at the bar and then waited for around twenty minutes only to be told there are no sausages left (despite there being two supermarkets less than a minutes walk away), but it’s ok because they can put double the bacon on there. So, the most expensive item in a cooked breakfast has run out, but that’s ok because an extra bit of scabby bacon will make up for it??? The fried eggs were closer to hard boiled, the hash browns were deep fried and burnt solid all the way through, and the bacon had been kept warm for so long that it had the same texture as cardboard. Don’t get me started on the black pudding. If pushed to identify it in a blindfold test, I’d probably have said it was tarmac scraped up from the path outside.Baked beans and mushrooms were ok, but how do you mess those up? We have been coming here for years, sadly we wont be going back anytime soon. Even Wetherspoons serve better fare than this!!
