Called at the half moon having walked from Beverly to Market Weighton along the disused railway about ten miles had sausage mash and peas which was beautiful and most welcome and a pint of Atlantic blond beer The landlady was very helpful and brought a bowl of water for my dog Meg thank you very much

Lovely place, super clean and great warm welcome from the staff. We didn't have food but the table next to us did and it looked and smelt very nice.

I went in recently and i have to admit the staff are the most friendliest and kindest people and really made the experience worth coming. we had food in the evening and the food is so delicious and i highly recommend. i had a burger and my friend had a pizza, we were not disappointed at all. overall a 10/10 experience and i highly recommend to anyone that’s looking for somewhere for family to eat. i will 100% be coming back

Dreadful experience - order a steak pie peas and chips - not difficult you would think - when the slop arrived it was swimming in gravy which I hadn't asked for. When I asked for a refund I was subjected to a tirade of abuse from the landlord! The place is soulless and dingy. Avoid like the plague (which you'll probably get if you eat there)

Disgusted with the attitude of the landlord when I cancelled my food order - received ranting abuse. I DID read your stupid menu and it said to look at the notice for specials - but you didn't have a notice up did you. I then asked the bar maid and she didn'[t mention that you normally plaster your slop in gravey you idiot!

Visited as a one off and ordered two pies for myself and my partner. I love gravy but my partner doesnt so i checked the menu and as they come with gravy i checked with the lovely bar staff who confirmed that the pie does come with gravy as advertised. We therefore requested one without. My pie came with lots of meaty gravy that complemented the delicious pie. My partners came without it but after seeing mine she requested some that they kindly delivered in a jug free of charge. Superb experience all around

Great pub great atmosphere sort of friendly staff

I really like this pub since its refurb and the outside space is very nice. But, and it’s a big but, we went in this week and for the second time since the refurb, the ladies toilets had no toilet tissue- at all. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Get the basics right for goodness sake - it takes 2 seconds to check the toilets. The landlady seems more interested in sitting and drinking with her pals near the bar.

Popped in for lunch. Friendly staff and chilled atmosphere Food was nice, however the fish fingers sandwich could have done with more fish and less batter, but was nice and at a reasonable price

Had Sunday lunch today and was really lovely .The portions are on the very generous side . Lots of fresh vegetables. Lovely staff . Will definitely be back .

In with friends last Saturday, there was no real ale at all. So I chose a pint of San Miguel

Well the pub itself is so much better...decor etc, but I went for Sunday lunch for the first time today after people I no said how nice the food was. I will not be returning for food. The beef was not off a cook joint, the roast potatoes was frozen ones was really hard, not cooked. The carrots tasted like the had been cooked in detol. The Yorkshire pudding was lovely and the stuffing. I think for £14 it wasn't good. I rarely leave a Sunday lunch as it is one of my favourite meals. I won't be returning for that one tho.

I have had to change my rating now that the new manager has taken over and got established. Overall, the pub has good food and service. The staff are well organised and helpful. But I did actually see that people vaping inside, which I believe is against the company policy. I do think that there should be a sign at the entrance stating that smoking of any kind is not allowed and there is a smoking area in the beer garden.

The half moon is a traditional pub in the middle of Market Weighton. There is a wide selection of beers, lagers, and cider, including two hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. It is a large but cosy pub. There is a very nice large outside seating area, some of it open and a good big covered section. There is a dart board in the bar, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The pub is dog friendly, and there was a nice jar of dog biscuits on the bar.

Terrible breakfast experience. Kept waiting ages to place food order- I’m a patient person so not a problem. Once I was eventually served by the young lady with long black hair and tattoos- she commented ‘Why’s everyone turning up now for breakfasts? I didn’t want a busy day and I’m stopping breakfasts at 11.00 am! (We arrived at 10.30- breakfast is advertised 9.30-11.30.) I didn’t know what to say! I felt like I needed to apologise for being a customer. I paid my £26 for 2 breakfasts and took a seat. No apologies given for being kept waiting. The lady in question then came over and asked I would like the table to be cleaned as it hadn’t been cleaned yet. There were probably 6 other customers in the place at this point so not exactly rushed off their feet. I hadn’t realised it was a dirty table it looked ok to be honest. My fault for choosing the wrong table but it was near the window hence my choice. We moved to a different table and waited for food. Tea’s were brought to the table- the young lady said ‘Are these your tea’s? I said I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ we did order tea. She left them on the table. After quite a while I noticed that no customers had received any food yet. We didn’t say anything, we just sat and drank our tea. Eventually the young lady came and apologised and said there had been an error with the ticketing machine so the chef had no knowledge of the orders. Fair enough these things happen. So we placed our order again. Carefully stating what type of eggs we wanted fried/ scrambled etc. Very simple orders. We asked if we could order some more tea as we had been there almost an hour by this point. There was another young lady serving by this point who was very nice and polite. We paid £5.00 for another 2 cups of tea ( would have been nice to have been offered complimentary tea after being kept waiting so long). Food arrived - the first staff member had got part of the order wrong despite me stipulating the order twice. She said ‘I couldn’t remember what you wanted but you can sort that out just take it off the other plate! ’. Again - we don’t mind doing this I was dining with my partner so not a problem at all but it’s just the way she said it. My partner was ready to ask for a refund at this point and walk out but I pointed out we wouldn’t now get a breakfast anywhere as it would be too late. Food was nice, no complaints about the actual food at all. Perhaps we just picked a bad day. It was our first time eating here. Sadly we won’t be returning. I don’t feel the young lady who served us should be working in a customer service role - or at least should be trained in the correct to way to speak customers. I wasn’t expecting fine dining by any means I’m not even a fussy person but it was just really awful service and a bad experience. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but the owners of the company need to know what’s going on. Assuming she is not the owner - god forbid.

Been here quite a few times lately. New owners doing a fantastic job. Very welcoming atmosphere. Been for breakfast a few times now (served between 9 and 11 am)Great breakfasts and bacon and sausage sandwiches.Meals served from midday til 9pm. Fantastic value, not silly prices, very very reasonable. If you order a burger go with an appetite they are enormous!Highly recommend a visit you won't be disappointed . Visited 23rd February for my birthday as a party of 5.Great night, good pub food, generous portions, very helpful staff. Very popular place. Visit you won't be disappointed.

We popped in for tea midweek on a friend's recommendation. We found the staff are friendly and helpful the food was great - and the pub was clean and tidy. It was a cold evening, but inside the fire was lit and it was warm and cosy. Highly recommend.

Clearly a friendly local pub first, restaurant second in terms of atmosphere, I was expecting ok food and was going to be happy with that. What I got was fantastic and generous food for maybe a quid or two more than "cheap" but certainly not high these days in lots of places, plus a quiet, cozy, friendly atmosphere pleased to see small happy children - I mean, all the children there were well behaved which obviously helps. But top marks weighton, you've got a gem there.

After hearing a lot of good things about the food and new management. Me and the wife had Sunday dinner, was very impressed with the quality and portion size, and the atmosphere was very good to what I've seen in there previously in my 10 years in Weighton. The manager was very attentive him and his barmaid were dealing with a busy dinner service very well, even with extra requests for more gravy sauces, etc. Overall, I'm really impressed and will definitely be back again and recommending to others

We went to The Half Moon for Christmas lunch. It was very reasonably priced at just £65 per head for 3 courses. The food was really tasty and the atmosphere was great. It's so good to see The Half Moon being run well and looking clean. It's very family friendly which we love. We've already been back for a drink post Christmas and can't wait to eat there again.

First time in there - pretty spacious inside . All seemed clean , bar staff pleasant- did not eat food . Got no reason not to visit again , all seemed perfectly fine to me . Only low on atmosphere as pub pretty quiet at the time - but warm and cosy

Lovely pub right in the heart of Market Weighton. Never eaten in here but drank plenty so can only vouch for the liquids, not even tried the crisps or had ice in a drink so nothing solid. Great service, friendly staff and the locals don't bite.

We went here for a bite to eat after chatting to the new landlord a few nights prior. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was! After seeing the table next to us get their food I went for the "Half Moon Burger". I have to say, its easily in the top 5 burgers I've ever had. Possibly even top 3! Everyone else's food looked fantastic too. Great quality food, very good portion sizes, fair pricing, we'll be back for sure 👌

This was a great place for a drink and a good atmosphere for me the only down side was people vaping inside the public bar area, when there is a very nice open space in the beer garden. We have eaten there and the food is good if not a likely pricey but it was hot, I will go again but cannot say I agree with smoking or vaping inside.

Absolutely amazing food,, more than enough on the plate without the sides (we couldn’t manage the sides) and will definitely be back, staff are friendly and happy to help too,, oh and it’s also dog friendly so your welcome to take your furry friends too xxx

Myself and my wife went for lunch today 23/11/23, I had the fish and chips my wife had the burger both meals were delicious, piping hot and plenty full. We were greeted with friendly welcoming smiles and fantastic chat. The pub has a log burner which in turn gives it a very cosy warm feel to it. We will definitely be eating and drinking there again.

Overpriced freezer food. Our meals came out 10 minutes apart chips were rock hard.

We visited again, in order to sample the food. It is typical pub food, nothing wrong with that but we found the food expensive compared to others in the area. The only downside was the fish and chips, I was not expecting it to be, what looked like out of the box frozen fish and for that reason only did we think it was expensive. Apart from that the place is very smart and the staff go out of their way to please. We will be calling back soon, but stay clear of the fish and chips

The food is awful they deep fry the burgers and the staff are rude and have no knowledge of the menu. Also two main meal arrived 15 min apart save your time avoid this place.

This place is amazing 🤩 staff very welcoming and has recently reopened with a fabulous look. Food was amazing. Highly recommended

First visit for many years, and what a transformation. It has only been reopened for a week, so we haven’t had a chance to sample the food but if it’s to the same standard as the refurbishment it’s going to be great. The manager is service with a smile and has a great sense of humour as do all the staff. We rated it just below excellent for a village pub only because the toilets are still in the process of being updated and the fact that we didn’t sample the food on this visit. All round a great job by the brewery and we will definitely be back, maybe as regulars.

In the centre of Market Weighton you'll find the Half Moon, a great pub with Ann and Dave as the hosts - welcoming and friendly. Darts and Pool on offer and entertainment on every month and a little beer garden out the back. Well worth a visit :-)

What a wonderful place the Half Moon is. Ann and Dave go out of their way to help in anyway they can. They have a good selection of drinks. They are constantly fundraising for different charities within the community....

Absolutely brilliant night, the live band were truly excellent and played some of my favourite tracks. Bar staff are always on point.

I have visited the half moon on a couple of occasions to hold an event. Ann and Dave are very friendly and welcoming. They have really turned the place around. It's clean and airy with up to date technology to advertise upcoming events. I shall be going back next year.

Ales are okay but they use a sparkler to put a head on the beer or make it creamy. It's real ale it used to come straight from the barrel.

Really impressed with the selection of beers available , I’m gluten intolerant and am usually forced to spirits as most places don’t stock gluten free options for beer. A long with a friendly welcome and my gluten free beer I’m happy 😊

Great owners and place to visit

Called in Wednesday 4 August for something to eat. New owners took the place over in September. Place was spotless, beer garden really lovely (sun trap) had a meal it was really nice and very good quality. Would go again. Iam a retired landlady. They are doing everything right.

Not really a person for leaving reviews, but after seeing a previous review I feel I have to, I called in on Thursday evening and I chose the pasta dish. I, as the previous reviewer are vegetarian and asked for it with out the ham. I found the dish I received to be very filling and the tomato & basil sauce on top with grated cheese was a great finishing touch. I would definitely order it again.

Just had a really disappointing visit to this pub. The place had been recommended by a friend, but is not somewhere I will visit again. The small menu did not have a vegetarian option, so I asked if a dish could be " tweeked" namely cheese and ham pasta , but without the ham !! What I was presented with was a dish of over cooked pasta covered in a packet cheese sauce and 2 pieces of dry tasteless garlic bread that was obviously frozen. Nobody did a check back and when the table was cleared , I was asked " did you not like it " ? When I said no, he just took it away. Most of my friends also had various issues with theirs. .......it was a very expensive slice of garlic bread !!🤔

Went there on Thursday evening absolutely the friendliest people we have met, lovely meal and atmosphere, all the way from the Isle of Wight... we will be back in October... for Karaoke Thank you for making us feel so welcome A++++++++++++++++++++++

Its a very cold atmosphere, dark type of pub use to have great nights there but definitely gone down hill now, management changover far to regularly & bad attitude to their customers aswell, so that says it all, it use to be the best pub in town there is, but now there is much nicer places to drink 👎😂

Management changes far to regularly but the last two couples who ran the place not the ones there now, were absolutely awful its a dark, cold feeling, creepy sort of place to drink there are better pubs to socialise.

On walking into pub it was dark and dingy . At the bar dogs came out of back room loose and yapping, not a very friendly welcome from them or staff . Went to get our carvery and if first impressions weren't good staff couldn't be bothered to iron their tunic . FOOD NOT VERY GOOD meat dry veg limp and gravy like water

Liking the new beer garden area

Having gone in to weighton we decided on breakfast and came across The Half Moon Inn advertising breakfasts. It was laid out as in a carvery....It was hot and very nice 6.99 with free fill ups.

Cheap drinks and grub good atmosphere on disco nights, bingo and music quizzes on Some Sundays

Service was nice enough but it's a bit dingy inside and the selection of drinks is on the limited side. Accepts card though so that's a plus. Bit of a refurb and a better selection could make this a brilliant pub.

Friendly and helpful family feeling

Friendly modern pub in an old building. Pub has a young outlook though any age groups are just as welcome and fit in comfortably. Drink prices are below average I'd say. Music and deejays sometimes present.
