I heard the fantastic news that the owners Romit and Dejvani are finally moving on. Thank goodness! Will not be missed. They've changed their office address to Blackburn and announced on Social Media that they have closed the doors for the last time. Good riddance

Went for a “dinner” with a local shoot. Huge disappointment, over priced for what was served. The food came out cold and under cooked, if cooked at all. The wait staff seemed clueless and never asked if the meal was okay but I presume they knew what the standard of it already was. Will be lucky if no one goes home ill from this. The manor itself requires a lot of work and is definitely a hazard to health! Had to use a fire exit round the side of the building, in the dark, no lights and had a dodgy step, once told about it they shut it off and we used the main entrance where the ceiling was caving in due to a leak where they had vases in the ground to catch water! I’d like to say they should contact the shoot and offer some type of refund as there was no quality or value to anything, extremely disappointing.

Came for afternoon tea, which was great. Good selection of sandwiches, savouries, scones and cakes. All were tasty and enjoyed with plenty of tea. Lovely location with a cosy warm fire in the dining area, Wood panelling and tasteful decoration. Service was excellent and efficient.

Once you manage to get up the pot hole ridden driveway you come to a run down old house, the reception was out of use and we were sent to a side door. The room we ate in needed a complete make over, and the outside grounds as well, our view was of tables and chair upturned thrown around the lawn. The food, afternoon tea, was a disgrace, all the sandwiches were stale, the scone was stale and the sausage rolls were the frozen ones you buy from any supermarket. We had to ask for drinks as they forgot them. There were plenty of people there when we arrived. However, they soon left, and they also left most of their food. Tables were just left full of their pots and not cleaned down. It's a real shame as the property could be lovely, but it needs an awful lot of work to bring it up to scratch. I would not return or recommend

Went here for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago expecting a "home cooked" meal having dined there previously. What we got was a frozen/prepackaged meal extravaganza for £22 a head for 2 courses. French onion soup I believe was from a can. Nice but not what we expected. I ordered the beef and husband ordered the chicken. The beef was some prepackaged cut meat in gravy. Roast potatoes were those frozen ones. Mash was nice but again I think it was frozen along with the veg. We won't be going back. Love Rowley Manor and its location but was bitterly disappointed.

I quite honestly, could not have asked for a lovelier birthday lunch. My closest friends are so dear to me, and I had a tight budget, so the quality of the experience had a lot of heavy lifting to do - and Rowley Manor's friendly & welcoming staff, the venue, ambience and food (2-courses £22/head), more than delivered to an exceptionally convivial and enjoyable afternoon. All of us said we'd be back. An absolutely perfect 60th birthday, thank you!

We paid £95 per adult and £40 per child for what was supposed to be a family Christmas Day dinner. It was a total disaster from start to up to the point we walked out! On arrival we were not acknowledged be any staff member, there were many families just stood around not knowing what to do or where to go. No welcome drinks. After a 15 minute wait we were shown to our table which was in a beautiful room with an open fire and a Christmas tree, very picturesque. My husband went to order some champagne but sadly they'd sold out. The canopies arrived, very poor! cheap looking perhaps store bought? Next came the pallet cleanser, a dollop of lime or lemon sorbet. Then the starter arrived, I chose crayfish and salmon cocktail, again looked poor and very small portion utterly disappointed, other people had soup and commented that it was basic and didn't taste fresh or home made. Then we had just short of a 2 hour wait for the mains no explanation at all. I chose Beef Wellington, it was as tough as old boots inedible, the sprouts and potato's were cold but the carrots were hot as was the beef, the Yorkshire puddings couldn't be cut with a knife and fork so it was fingers or leave well alone. The Turkey was pink and many people chose not to risk eating it! We had 3 children with us and had asked if when their meals came out could they come without gravy, well their meals came out covered in gravy so the waitress was very nice and took them away. 2 of the 3 meals came back without gravy but sadly the 3rd meal didn't come out until after some of our family had finished their meals, the child was left watching us all eat and got upset. When his meal finally arrived the beef was again inedible and he had to spit it out which really upset him. The other 2 children couldn't eat their Turkey as it looked undercooked. Someone on the table next to us started shouting at the staff complaining about the quality of the food etc at this point the 3 children in our family were taken home, When the waitress asked us if we would like dessert (as by this point people were leaving without having dessert or tea, coffee and mince pies) I asked what could go wrong with dessert she smiled in an embarrassed way. I had ordered Toffee apple tart and ice-cream the tart was ice cold but the ice cream was lovely. We declined the mince pies etc and left. It was a total disaster and not worth the money my husband paid, the money that he'd worked hard for in order to take his family out for Christmas Day dinner. My son was sat holding his 5 month old baby and his chair just broke underneath him, thankfully the table stopped him falling too far forward. A staff member replaced the chair but never said a single word. 2 female waitresses did their best during the service and just kept apologising. We witnessed many people walking out without paying, sadly my husband had already paid £500 deposit. A badly managed event.

We visited this establishment for afternoon tea, which was very disappointing. When we arrived, we were asked what we wanted to drink. However, I had to ask what different types of tea they offered, which the girl had to go away and ask. The afternoon tea stands were just brought to the table without us being offered any menus. They offered 3 different types of afternoon tea, but we were not given that choice, nor were we asked whether anyone had any allergies or preferences. It was assumed that everyone liked piccalilli with their sandwiches. There were also elements of the afternoon tea that were clearly not homemade, and the scones were rock hard. I have been to number of afternoon teas and this was very disappointing

Very disappointed with the afternoon tea for the price. Three finger sandwiches with ham, grated cheese with pickle and egg. The filling was minimal to say the least, no choice of white or brown. Scone with tiny pot of jam which had to be shared with two. Small mouth size piece of lemon tart and cake plus bite size chocolate brownie. My sister had a £50 voucher for Rowley Manor but wasn’t given the choice for the dearer afternoon tea, had she been given the choice she would have had the dearer one which still wouldn’t have cost the amount of the voucher. I have had several afternoon teas which have been far superior and cheaper. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

We have stayed here previously and enjoyed ourselves with our son, we saw then it was tired but a beautiful building. We booked to come back , which was then cancelled last minute with no explanation..saying it was not COVID related. We were told we would receive a call enabling us to rebook. This didn’t happen, so I decided to rebook through their website.I had sent previous emails and phone calls and messages, which were unreturned.Eventually I go through to Rohan…who explained they were now only open Thursday -Sunday because of COVID..although no explanation of no returned emails and messages. I got one back eventually confirming the booking relating to an extra bed required for our son. It’s a fabulous building it really is…peacocks greeted us on arrival and the entrance and ground floor are very pretty and in keeping with the style and era.The evening meal and breakfast were very good, and the staff lovely…I’m not sure if it’s in different management hands now…Had some drinks..had a walk around the gardens and church..very quiet and relaxed..very niceThe negatives are the rooms…..dated..old..patched up..disguising old frayed chairs with throws…. Random dated pictures and mirrors…ahhhh..such a shame..dried flowers in a vase ….No hot water..which was not a problem..no available fans in extreme heat…and half a loo roll between us…My sons pull out bed had a dirty mattress….I just felt like taking everything down and stripping it back to how it could be..amazing..it wouldn’t take too much..just a bit of vision …I was reluctant to put on this review..but I hope the staff can give this amazing place a face lift particularly in the bedrooms….bin the tackiness and give it back a bit of what it deserves We did enjoy our stay….just could have been fabulous with some careThank you

As a family of 6 we booked for Sunday Lunch. We sat at our table for over half an hour before WE asked for drinks! We then waited another half an hour and WE asked for our food order to be taken. We waited another half an hour before WE asked “where is our food”?The long wait was definitely NOT WORTH IT! Our Sunday lunch comprised of tough beef, two tiny roast potatoes, 2 sugar snap peas and a small piece of broccoli hidden underneath a soggy Yorkshire pudding........The pieces of carrots were joined up to make 1 medium sized carrot and the roast potatoes collectively would have come from 1 medium potato! We asked for some extra vegetables, yes another 15 mins went by when the waitress arrived with a bowl of sweet corn and silver skin pickled onions !!!!! Never again

We attended a wedding at the location where we understood the bride and groom had full place to themselves. The bar for a wedding was very small and ran out of different drinks including soft drinks. Some of the bedrooms were tiny with not much room to move around in and very warm. The window sills in some of the rooms were rotting away. Family room consists of bed with fold down camp beds so again not much space. Breakfast was buffet which was suppose to start at 9 but wasn’t produced until 9.20am. Key to one of the rooms was fiddly to use .... staff indicated you had to wiggle it and eventually you could get in or leave the door on the latch ........ indicating security was good however front door was wide open and no staff at reception early in the morning. I would be interested for this place to appear on tv programme Four in a Bed as I do not believe they would get the money they were asking for the rooms and food.

There were 90 diners on this extended lumchtime service and kitchen and restarant staff delivered amazing service and consistent quality. A big thank you for giving us a wonderful christmas day lunchtime experience. The food was top quality fresh ingredients. Yes Christmas day lunch was £85 per head but it was worth every penny. After lunch there was a large open table in the reception area/hall crammed with Christmas treats for post lunch gluttony!!- fruit, nuts, mince pies, chocolate yule and a huge Christmas cake. Just returned from Rowley Manor Sunday lunch. It is the best Sunday lunch experience in the area. Always a warm welcome here. This is a country house hotel with some lovely antiques and decor. They also have some wonderfully fragrant flower displays - usually lilles. Very clever mix of high quality artificial flowers mixed with natural fauna. A relaxing drink In the bar whilst you choose and order lunch and you are taken through to the restaurant when ur lunch is ready. The ham hock hash with lightly fried egg was excellent. The roast beef was wonderful- top quality beef served pink with accompanyment of fresh crunchy veg, roast potatoes and homemade Yorkshire pudding.- undoubtedly the best quality roast sunday lunch in the area. Presented very well on plate too. Dessert for me was a vanilla creme brulle which was nothing but rich and decadent ! My husband had a chocolate mouse which he refused to share with me so it must have been terribly good ?! - his excuse was that it would have been far too rich for my tastes! Had a Sunday lunch 2 weeks ago and was very happy with the choice of gluten free options on their menu. The meal was well presented and we enjoyed it. Unfortunately 3 hours later I was very unwell and sick. From previous experience I know this was gluten poisoning. This as coeliac is always a risk you take when eating out. I did email them the following day saying I was not complaining but wanted them to check they were certain the ingredients they used were gluten free to avoid this happening to someone else. The Manager Amanda did reply apologising saying the chef was away for a couple of days but she would check and get back to me. I have had no contact since. Hence I will not be returning to this restaurant again.

We added a further night to our two night visit. The bar dining room food and staff ,are really excellent and could not be faulted. The room however was in need of a facelift. The bathroom was very old and doors to the balcony needed a repaint, and the curtains at the window were in need of attention. To be fair the Manor seems to be undergoing repairs in some rooms. We did enjoy our stay and would stay here again but would ask for a little better room next time.Be sure to check your final bill as we were given a bill double what it should have been, until pointing out to the lady receptionist that she had added up the account twice. The pros and cons outlined in other reviews are, on balance, fairly accurate. It's an old rickety manor house with narrow winding stairs (no lift) and in many places in need of repair or some TLC. Do not expect mod cons. The food was good, as was the service, so no complaints there. Overall, if you know what to expect it's OK, but nothing to write home about.

Very pleasent welcome. Reviewed menu in the nice cosy bar. Food was excellent, very well prepared and presented. Portion sizes are not large so you don't feel stuffed when you finish. We had the lamb which was very nice, served with a selection of vegetables. Two areas that could be improved: I would serve everyone with a breadroll, these were only provided to those who had soup; the coffee afterwards (extra charge) was quite weak which was a little disappointing after such a good meal. Otherwise service was good, the atmosphere is "civilised" and feels up-market, the location is rural, set in the old Rectory, quite a grand house. We will go again.

Spent two nights b&b here in October 2016. The hotel is set in large grounds, mainly set to horse paddocks and has only a grass laid garden area. The hotel is located in a rural setting and if you want a quiet relaxing retreat this is certainly the place to be. Rather disappointed with the booking in procedure, which was rather rushed and left us with no information regarding meal times etc. Our room was the smallest I have ever slept in, the four poster style bed (no canopies) taking up most of the room, there was just enough space to squeeze between the wall and bed on one side. The bathroom, in contrast, was quite large, though quite dated, containing bath with over shower, sink and toilet. I gave up trying to get the old fashioned shower regulated, the water was either cold or very hot. We did not eat dinner here, but the breakfast was good and the dining room, overlooking the garden, was bright and pleasant. Breakfast was cereals etc served as help yourself and the hot food was ordered and brought to table, the choice was good and plentiful. The only downside for me was the scrambled egg I ordered contained too much chives, I asked for "plain" scrambled egg on the second day but still received egg containing chives. Since the dining room was busy with an overnight wedding party and the staff were a bit rushed, I did not ask for the egg to be replaced, so cannot comment whether such a request would have been carried out.The hotel itself is a mixture of "old" and "theatre", reflecting the profession of the owners. I have to agree with the other review regarding the music in the bar, endless repetition of old musicals! All in all, we had a pleasant break, but I do not feel that I would visit again. The hotel is well located for visits to Beverley, well worth looking at the cathedral, also York and a bit further afield, the North Yorks moors and coast.

We visited for Sunday lunch recently. We were warmly welcomed and offered to go to the bar for a pre-lunch drink and to select our choices or to go straight to the restaurant. We chose the latter and were shown to a table for two at the back of the room which gave my wife an excellent view of the grounds, but I was looking at the wall.We chose the beef and pork from the limited menu. Both meals had a good portion of meat, the beef being slightly pink, and was accompanied by vegetables and a Yorkshire, on the plate. The quality of both meals was excellent; the gravy was very good. It was the quantity of the vegetables which let this course down. As previously reported, portions are not large. Each plate had 2 roast potatoes and a few French beans, mangetout and slivers of carrot. Unlike meat, vegetables do not cost much and extra vegetables, offered perhaps in a side dish, would have made all the difference. For dessert, we selected the Bakewell Tart (a reasonable sized portion) and steamed syrup pudding, which wasn’t steamed but baked. Both were very nice but the sponge pudding was no bigger than a cube of dimension 5cm. This would be a child’s portion elsewhere. Again, sponge pudding is not expensive and something twice the size would be more appropriate. When we eat out we like to feel comfortably full when we leave and this was not the case on this occasion. A few, inexpensive tweaks, would make all the difference and encourage us to return.

Due to mess-ups at Rowley we have been contacted twice now AFTER confirming bookings, to be told our booking is cancelled to accommodate a wedding party. We felt we should add a review this time as this has happened twice to us, most recently, a booking made for late December 2016. We booked in October - a nice large room at the back and discussed availability with the Manager before making the booking. A week later we received a telephone call advising us a mistake had been made and due to a wedding party coming in when we had booked, we could not be accommodated on our chosen (booked) dates. Although other dates were offered they did not suit us, so the booking was cancelled. The same thing happened a few years ago when a booking was cancelled a week or two after our booking, again due to their need to accommodate a wedding party on the dates we were due to be there. On the one occasion we did get to Rowley Manor (the second time we booked having assumed first time was a one-off mistake), we found the place to be lovely, welcoming and a lovely place to stay. Nearby Beverley was also a nice place to visit.

Rowley Manor has become our favourite place to escape from the huslte and bustle of life as takes you back to a quieter time. The Manor sits in the idyllic yorkshire countryside and is especially lovely in the morning when you can watch the horses from your room window.after a tedious motorway journey we treated ourselves to cream tea which I must say is worth the trip alone.just delicious and set us up for our evening meal later on.unfortunately my wife developed a migraine and the staff went out of their way to help by loaning us a small fan and bringing up endless jugs of iced water all very welcome and much appreciated. The following day after a lovely full english Amanda the owner was good enough to advise the best places to visit and shop.We Had taken out miniature daschund with us and he was made as welcome as we were and like us loved sitting by the coal fire after a long walk.I have booked our next trip for the middle of december as I have been told the Manor looks stunning at christmas time.

Booked afternoon tea for when we arrived. We got it through Groupon so slightly cheaper than normal. It was served in a lovely dining room overlooking the meadows and overall was delicious. This is a treat I enjoy now and again but I must admit in my opinion all afternoon teas are well over-priced for what you get. Nevertheless I still enjoyed it and no doubt I will indulge again somewhere else.

Perhaps because we were on a Groupon voucher was the reason for the limited menu and the small portions? The approach was not what l expected of a country manor & very little parking around the front which did not look or feel like a main entrance. The room we ate in was pleasant enough looking over a field. Service was ok but slow and there were very few people in the restaurant. Lady on reception was pleasant enough but hard to find.Portions were small but the food was good. We are not in a rush to return.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and had dinner one evening. We had booked a time for dinner and the dining room was not busy so I was a little disappointed when we were taken to our table late. We had a main course and a dessert and the food was great. We ordered the same dessert but my wife requested no cream. When they arrived they looked completely different but did look good and tasted great.

Looked forward to having afternoon tea, a treat from my grandsons for my birthday. What a disappointment! I have had tea at numerous places, Betty's, the Ritz at Manchester (the best) Chatsworth to name a few and twice previously at Rowley Manor but this was by far the worse. Nothing like the picture on the advert at Groupon. The cake selection was disappointing all sponge no colour and the scones were burnt. These were replaced but the second lot had been microwaved hot and within seconds turned to rocks! Inedible. We shall not return

My friend and I opted for the groupon offer of afternoon tea. It was half price so we paid 25 pounds between us. The setting was beautiful. The room was quiet and the service was excellent. It was a shame there were lots of flies swarming around us but apart from that I couldn't fault the atmosphere. The tea was lovely, especially the scones as they were freshly home made. However, I would no way pay 25 pounds each for this. I think 12.50 was a fair price. I've had much better afternoon teas elsewhere so it was a shame the food wasn't up a higher standard as you'd expect. Good presentation though and served quickly. A pleasant experience.

On arriving at the manor was impressed, entrance very pretty, service at reception good, looked into the dining room, white linen table setting very good, we had a secret escape voucher with dinner one night and a afternoon tea the next day, on a two day stay, also booked a four poster bed room, now please be careful what u see is not what you get suggest if you are booking this voucher call the hotel first to get he ones in the picture, we were told we had the four poster bed but the room is small, well small was the word, the bed was large as promised, it was clean, but what a disappointment, not as romantic as I imagined, the bathroom was ok but had the wardrobe next to the bath, not sure how this really works, with the steam in the bathroom, that is how small the bedroom was.We were in room seven and if you opened the windows you found you were above the kitchens. With all the noise coming from there and staff standing talking and smoking, we asked if we could change rafter noon tea for another dinner which was agreed, but with an extra charge of£20.00 was this a good deal, after seeing the dinner prices which was a set menu and taking into account not having the afternoon tea, no.Breakfast was good hot and fresh, all I can say is well done the staff, room was clean, but again very tired, the grounds are pretty ad good location for Hull and ScarboroughWould I return to Rowley Manor sadly no, but I do suggest if you are going to go there and use a voucher you could call them direct and they will do the same deal.

I was a little apprehensive after reading some reviews on here. Rowley Manor is a Georgian hotel which was previously the rectory of the church. It's an old hotel anyone expecting a 'hiltonesque' or Marriott style hotel are going to be disappointed. We used a £139 groupon voucher for a two night stay in four-poster room. This included afternoon tea and two course evening meal as well as breakfast each morning. Overall the stay was very good value for money. Every member of staff, from receptionists, waiters and waitresses and night porter could not have been more friendly or helpful. I'm not really an 'afternoon tea' person but my wife is. She was pleased with it. I asked for no butter or cream and they provided everything we asked for. The two course evening meal was also very nice indeed. I upgraded to the sirloin steak (extra £10) but worth it I asked for medium rare slightly more the rare side and I came cooked perfectly. Puddings are an extra at £5. Our Australian chardonnay wine at £16 a bottle was perfectly acceptable and cheap for a lot hotels. The rooms are in keeping with the age of the hotel and yes they aren't cutting edge but the four poster bed and sheets were very clean and bath and toilet was area to. There is a small bar to relax in. There's larger, cider and cask ales on tap. Guinness is available via a surger. Yes the drinks are not priced like a Weatherspoons but there average for a hotel. The hotel is situated in its own grounds and local ancient church is situated next to the hotel. There are three croquet courts situated to the side of the hotel. A garden area and paddocks for local horses. The area is very picturesque. A pleasant fairly flat walk to the nearby village is about 15 minutes there you'll find a post office and a very obliging postmaster! There is also a good pub (the Black Horse) which has a restaurant and bar food. The location of the hotel is rural but its an easy trip into Beverley or Hull. Bridlington and Hornsea also in very easy reach for a day out.All in all a very pleasant stay and certainly very good value for money. Thank you Rowley Manor!

Family meal here one Sunday in July. On arrival to a very pleasant country house location we were greeted and directed to the bar area. Unfortunately, there were no staff and with a couple of people already waiting, the bell was pressed for service. After a short period, a barman (doubling as a waiter) arrived and served us all. Our menu selections were taken and after about 10 minutes we were seated in a lovely restaurant, with views across the gardens and fields. However, it then took around 30 minutes for our starters to be served, quite possibly because there were only 3 waiting staff and a lot of diners, including what appeared to be a private party. The starters were tasty, but only lukewarm, although edible. Three of us had opted for the ham hock hash and the other a stilton, onion and walnut tart. Not a long wait for the main courses, a bit of everything had been chosen, one lamb roast, one beef roast, one salmon and one risotto. The risotto was hot, but the rest again only lukewarm but edible (recommend the plates should be warmed before serving). Both roasts came with vegetables and roasted new potatoes and the salmon with crushed potatoes and vegetables. Although not a large portion, the food was filling. We chose desserts, two having warm bakewell tart with ice cream which was delicious and the others chose a chocolate dessert which was very rich and sickly. No room for coffee and mints, although this was extra from the offer. We paid, £26.95 for two courses for two people with an extra £5 for desserts so a total of £73 for four 3 course Sunday lunches. We did find that the drinks prices were exceptionally expensive (all soft drinks) despite the need to drive to the venue as out in the country. Over £11 for 2 1/2 pt coke and 1 pt lime and soda and 1 pt coke was a little too much. Water was served a the table free of charge.

We stayed at Rowley Manor in November when the fires were lit so we thought we would come again in the summer (late July). Once again we were very pleased with the warm welcome by the lovely Karen and the lovely room 8 with a four poster bed and views across the fields. Top floor is a bit of a struggle but staff carried our luggage up and down. Steve in the dining room looked after us and the food was very good. We dined there for the two nights. Wine price is reasonable and service is great. Breakfasts are lovely, well cooked and hot! Every one of the staff is friendly and most helpful - a true treasure in this age of miserable service! We highly recommend that you try this lovely hotel.

I would not stay here again or reccomend it to others ... you get what you pay for... not worth full price make sure you have got a cheap deal ...and veg at dinner is extra .

Drove down long drive to house on a lovely evening with horses grazing in the paddocks on both sides - beautiful. Met by a very cheerful friendly duty manager and left for a few minutes with a drink and look at the menu. We chose our meals and after only a few minutes wait were taken through to our table. The room was dressed beautifully. Our starters came and were very very tasty and light. Our mains were just as delicious said all it lacked was some bread to mop up the gravy as it was delicious. We both went for puds which were just as good. All washed down with a bottle of reasonably priced and refreshing Prosecco. The servers were very efficient and friendly and not in your face, the young lady that served was a definite credit to the restaurant. We went on a well known discount voucher and on leaving the manager told us that they would match any price this voucher company offered so we shall keep this in mind for future visits. A fabiulous meal well with the 45 minute travel each way.

This hotel has bags of character with beautiful wood paneling, vintage furniture and spacious communal rooms all with gorgeous views across lovely open countryside. There's plenty of outdoor seating which we happily availed of due to being lucky to have stunning sunny weather on both days. The breakfasts were really good with made to order cooked breakfasts and buffet style cereal, fruit, yoghurts etc. My evening meal was fabulous, especially the game parcel with cider vinegar vegetables, although my partner was disappointed with his meal, particularly his strawberry mousse. I'd happily return although would ask to stay in rooms 1-8 which I gather are the best rooms. The room we stayed in (room 10) had not been decorated to the standard of other rooms and had an unfortunate avocado suite with a temperamental shower. However, this didn't spoil our stay and the character of the hotel and its lovely grounds made up for it.

Stayed Hereford a family wedding, and let's say, it's not cheap! From start to finish the wedding breakfast, service and food were excellent. Drinks a bit pricey but it was a wedding and in a hotel what else can you expect. At least the white wine was good and that's not always the case!Rooms were sort of themed and generally very clean but with the black bathroom mound making an appearance and it's unforgivable really as there are loads of bleach based cleaners that deal with it nowadays. I'd expected real super king sized beds here rather than just 5 foot so slightly disappointed on that front. Mattresses on the soft side which don't suit us but do for others so that's pot luck. Main thing that's a negative here is that there is no air conditioning and rooms get really hot. Good quality floor standing fans supplied but should really get air conditioning given the cost of weddings here. Didn't use pool or spa so can't comment on them.

Visited here with long-standing friends from nearly 50 years ago for afternoon tea while on a visit. We stayed long and spent little and talked long; there was no attempt to move us on and the staff were happy for us to enjoy ourselves. We visited for a family occasion.Lunch was mediocre, the evening buffet consisted of supermarket sausage rolls, poorly defrosted wet quiche, etc. The rooms were in keeping with the building but nothing special with poor tea making facilities and some of the staff could best be described as unhelpful bordering on rude. Well, we were expecting it to be a bit cheesy, and usually choose to stay in at this time of year, but the other half was feeling romantic. Well chosen for its location, the hotel has a lovely atmosphere enhanced with red roses and candlelight for valentines. Menu was half set- amuse-bouche, dessert, cheeseboard and petit-fours the chefs choice with us choosing starters and mains. All perfectly portioned to manage the whole meal, lovely, tasty food served by polite not over the top waiting staff. Adding a beautiful background singer enhanced that valentines atmosphere. We had such a lovely night, and wanted to say thank you for such a lovely evening, especially to the ?shift manager of the hotel for being so kind.

My partner booked a table at Rowley Manor for my birthday. We found the choices on the menu very limiting! We both chose the slow roast lamb with rosti potatoes. The meal arrived and it looked bland and colourless , the roast lamb was shredded and pushed into a round mould! When I put my fork into it it collapsed into a grey wet mush!!!It looked like cat vomit? It didn't taste much better! The rosti potato was obviously cut from a slab of pre cooked potato and was greasy and soggy? The purple sprouting broccoli was blanched but uncooked leaving it inedible! The temperature of the meal was tepid! I simply couldn't eat it!I complained and was told none else had complained about it! The restaurant manager said she had eaten it the night before but hadn't managed to eat the whole thing! I'm not sure if this was meant to make us feel better or not!!!She agreed not to charge for my meal but charged for my partners. They offered me an alternative but based on what I had seen I declined!Would I go again....... Absolutely not!!!
