I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant the most. We sat in the booths toward the rear of the restaurant. Seats were comfy and the decor was good, very tastefully done. The food was nice. Usually I don't like sauces and I had been too busy withy conversation to enquire about the sauce that came with the salmon but I ate everything. The only thing I'd have said is that I like my salmon to be more firm with slightly more taste, but that's my personal preference. I'd definitely go back again.

This restaurant is incredible. The food, drinks and service is faultless. I had eaten here before, but came with my team for our work Christmas party for drinks and canapes, and everyone had a brilliant evening. Thank you

My daughter’s boyfriend booked this well in advance of the date we attended last Saturday, informing them of my daughter’s birthday. It was a busy Saturday night, and very noisy as sat next to a party of people and in not a very nice location. The food was mostly very nice, however the special request what was made was not carried out. Felt this was rather disappointing although a glass of wine was offered as compensation. Also my daughter asked for speciality steak to be cooked medium rare and it was overdone. Overall disappointing evening considering the reputation of the restaurant.

Went here on a works night out. I had a Great Steak, but as i was driving limited myself to a pint and a half of orange juice and lemonade. When settling the drinks bill i was charged £15.60 for them, plus, with seemingly no choice an 18% tip, making it about £18.50. Rip off, be warned to check drink prices before ordering!

We booked the Corn Stores quite last minute and felt we absolutely lucked out. We had chosen it due to the proximity to Reading train station and the, so it turned out rightly earned, good reviews. There was a warm welcome on arrival and we were immediately seated and offered a drink. The wine menu is quite extensive and while my daughter had the draught pilsener, I enjoyed a fabulous Pinot Noir. The service thoughout was both friendly and attentive. We weren't too adventurous with our food choices (wagyu burger and lamb burger) but both were excellent. We loved our evening there and hope to return.

I liked the starter and pudding. I had the set Christmas dinner. The mains were alright , the turkey, which was processed meat, was cut too thick, one carrot, 5 brussels, and some pickled red cabbage. Plus, I'm not sure about the layout of the site. The restaurant was on the 1st floor, the toilets were on the 2nd floor, and the bar was on the 3rd floor

Had a very nice anniversary meal here. It's located on Forbury Road on the opposite side to the station. It's' easy to walk past as it looks like a pub. It has 4 floors, a bar, restaurant, kitchen, private club. The restaurant wasn't too busy (Weds eve) and we were shown to a nice table. The lighting was as you'd expect and you can't read the menus so we used our phones. We were given a list of specials which was missing the one alternative to meat, but you don't' go here for anything other than meat. Ordered a cocktail and a regular drink. The gin based cocktail was terrific. Lots of flavour and sourness from the grapefruit and pomelo, The menu is simple, best when you specialise in steak really. For staters we ordered light snacks of Pigs in Blanket - this was 3regular sides sausages wrapped in bacon and came with a honey mustard dip. VERY TASTY, and Short Rib Croquettes - 2 large Croquettes with a dark tomato chutney, This was nice, but I wouldn't choose it again. For mains, we decided against steak (shocker). My wife had the Lamb Rump and I had the Wagyu burger. The Burger came with fries, the Rumo came with some onion and artichoke. Both were excellent and very well presented. As the mains were so good, we selected desert, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Plum and Apple Crumble with a granola topping, Superb and delicious. We were celebrating an event and the staff treated us very nicely and gave us a few extras to celebrate. Would return.

Great service, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Food was absolutely delicious but it is on the more expensive side. Worth it though. The bacon butter bread is soooo good!

Went here for a birthday meal and was not disappointed. The prosecco was lovely and the food even better. The lamb rump was cooked perfectly. Was served by Mel and Jenny and they were friendly and attentive.

We had a dinner party of a large group of people, with a short notice of booking. However Jay and Filippo was great and attaentive to our needs and very accomodating. The restaurant was warm and inviting. The dim lighting, sleek décor, and the subtle aroma of sizzling meat set the stage for what turned out to be an extraordinary evening. The staff, attentive without being intrusive, exudes professionalism and a genuine passion for their craft. From the moment we were seated to the final dessert course, every interaction with the staff was a testament to their commitment to providing a top-tier dining experience. Every menu item was delicious, well thought and suitable for the resturant. The main attraction the steak, was cooked perfectly to our requests, and the side dishes were no afterthought either. The wine list is extensive, providing ample choices to complement the richness of the steaks. Gabriel was knowledgable and attentive to our needs. Truly a great night and I will definitely coming back.

Fantastic steak and great wine list with lots of options by the glass. Not cheap but it is premium quality so prices seemed fair to me. Limited non steak options but that didn’t concern us. We had a nice cocktail in the bar before dinner in the top floor bar.

Absolutely horrible rump steak. Save your money don’t go there. Also very noisy and loud could not hear my friend speaking. Terrible chips as well. They’re better at McDonalds. There was also a weird smell in the first floor. What a complete waste of money. The only good thing was the martini although they didn’t fill the glass it was like a half glass of martini. Absolute scammers.

I was there for a business lunch with a speaker. I have some allergies, so normally I'm quite embarrassed by what is provided (everyone else has a normal meal and I get some cheese and GF crackers or something mental), but my meal was absolutely beautiful and very similar in style to everyone else's. The other attendees commented on how tasty their meals were and how nicely plated. Would def recommend.

This is a spectacular place for a special dinner (and would be great for a little everyday luxury too)! We started in the cocktail bar and their menu is excellent with signature creations and classics. The ambiance is modern and elegant and the service is lovely. We lingered over dinner and were never rushed, and the food is fantastic. Price is good for the quality and there are things on the menu for the more modest budget as well. I will come back here again and again!

Stopped in the bar for a few drinks and had an amazing night. The atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxed, as opposed to other steak restaurants that can feel stifling at times. Was served by Renée (hope im spelling the name right) and could not have asked for a better bartender, drinks were amazing especially the ones she recommended, and we had some really great conversation too, definitely coming back soon!

Great service, great atmosphere and great food. We had 35 people dining on the evening and a few extra for pre-dinner drinks. The Corn Stores team were well briefed on our needs and provided excellent attentive service throughout the evening. Reasonably priced, very tasty food, modern decor, and very friendly staff. Overall welcoming experience.

Went here last night and it wasn’t very good. Three of us had wagyu rump steak two sent it back the other person ate half and left the rest. The meat was full of sinue and gristle. We ordered bread and olives which were really good as the bread was freshly baked. The sides were average and expensive as were the drinks. Overall I’m not sure what this place is trying to be but for the same money you can eat at a top London steak restaurant which you will get vastly superior quality of food drinks and service. I will not go back here which is a shame as I hoped it would be a lot better. None of the party really enjoyed their food!

The Corn Stores is an upmarket eatery on Forbury Road in Reading. I've been here a couple times now and will go again. The food is really very good. Specialty is the steak. This is a more expensive place to eat but you get what you pay for and the venue itself is very funky/chic. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. Try the strawberry's and cream cocktail, this is an olfactory phenomenon. Initial hit of sugary sweet followed by an in mouth inversion into a rich cream. A very odd sensation but so good. The steaks are very good, if anything they undercook them so ask for a how you want it done one level above what you would normally (or talk to the staff, they can always cook more if underdone but can't undo overdone). Yes. Really cool venue. Really good food. A treat for your partner. Recommended.

I had the most lovely evening at The Corn Stores in Reading. Our lovely waitress Rhi made fantastic cocktails and was very welcoming and attentive. Steak Tartare delicious, Wagyu steak also nice. Don't bother with Wagyu Burger - decently worse than sth standard from a nice burger place (Honest) Atmosphere very quiet on a Tuesday but pretty building and very good service. For the price, good enough but nowhere near outstanding.

I booked Tomahawk dinner for two but got told I cannot have the deal as there is no 1kg steak left. It’s something I cannot get my head around cause I booked a few days in advance, paid deposit and left message about exactly what I need yet the restaurant cannot deliver it, which is very disappointing. The experience is not pleasant, no one told me in advance what I want is not available, and I already paid deposit so I had to sit down and have the dinner. The Tomahawk deal for two is about £100 and in the end my partner and I paid abt £200 for ordering similar stuff. For the price I pay I’d rather go to London to have Hawksmoor.

Great atmosphere, modern and stylish restaurant. The customer service is exceptional, and nothing was too much effort. The Corn Stores is perfect for having meetings, having a lovely meal, and having drinks to relax at the end of the day. It's walking distance from Reading train station, which makes it super handy. Great fine dining but very much a restaurant interested in providing a high end meat experience. Recommend going if you aren't vegetarian as the vegetarian options were quite limited but everyone around me enjoyed their stakes. Wonderful desserts though.

One of the best little known gems in Reading. Whilst the menu is mostly stake, the enoki mushrooms are amazing and should not be missed by veggies. The wine and cocktail list is extensive but expertly curated.

Absolutely delicious food in a warm and comfortable setting. The starter of beef tartare was excellent, and the main course of pork belly is great. Pricing is reasonable. Definitely recommend.

I went for an enjoyable Italian wine tasting evening.

We came here as a party of seven for a special birthday celebration. Unfortunately the shine was taken off the evening due to the unacceptable standard of service we received. If this is typical of what to expect, then I’m afraid we won’t be returning. When we arrived there was a note on the door to say they would be unable to offer “walk-ups” as there were staff illness. I accept that this can happen to any business, but it doesn’t excuse the level of service that we endured and witnessed on Saturday evening. It genuinely seemed like the waiting staff had never done the job before. I did intend to list the examples of poor service but I really wouldn’t know where to begin. I would point out that being called “mate” by one of the staff is probably not what I expect. All in all none of our party would rate this as our best dining experience. This is a shame as the food was very good. We really did expect better for the price that we paid. Almost certainly won’t be returning!

The courses were balanced, creative and appetising. The restaurant staff was very helpful and super friendly. It was a true culinary pleasure!

Things we liked: - food was generally very good, excellent beef tartare, steaks including wagyu rump, sticky toffee pudding and tart; - overall atmosphere and cleanliness of the place; - pleasant and competent staff Things that should be improved: - we went during lunchtime and the place just felt cold as if there was not enough heating on, think about how well the heat is distributed around the venue, because if guests feel cold, then no amount on great food is going to compensate that; - focaccia as a starter was not particularly fresh; - steaks, despite being really tasty and of good quality, were presented in a really poor manner on the plate, sitting there alone without any decoration or aesthetic touch. This restaurant prides itself in ex-Michelin starred chef and the prices are very high, so this kind of lack of attention to detail is disappointing; - the restaurant just opened for lunch and run out of chocolate ganache for dessert - is this poor planning? Overall, we had a good experience, but were not amazed to the point that we would consider definite returning the value vs price ratio was simply not compelling enough. For the same price, you can go to three Michelin starred Alain Ducasse in London to get way better service, better venue and way better food in terms of quality and quantity.

We booked an early valentines dinner based on the positive reviews but sadly our experience was in stark contrast and we will not be returning. We were a bit early for our reservation but our table was ready which we appreciated. We ordered drinks and decided to share a starter- battered fried broccoli. It was tasty but £9 for three stalks of tenderstem broccoli. I had the fillet steak and my partner had the flat iron. Unfortunately the flat iron was so tough it was completely inedible- I tried a bite and had to spit it out in my napkin after chewing for awhile. The chips were average and the mushrooms were nice but not spectacular. When the plates were cleared we were offered a free round of drinks but were then ignored. The drinks never arrived, we weren't offered dessert menus, and we ended up sitting for more than 20 minutes. When the table next to us who finished eating after we did were given dessert menus and we weren't even acknowledged we decided to get up and leave. At this point it was 10:20pm and we had arrived at 8pm. When we went to the hostess stand to pay, we had been charged for two cocktails (£20 total) that we hadn't ordered or had (not the drinks that had been offered to replace the steak, just random ones), and we had to ask for the inedible steak to be removed since we weren't given the drinks that were offered instead. We intentionally shared the starter, I ordered the small (£38 for 150g) fillet steak so we could save room for dessert, and my partner couldn't even eat his, so we left hungry after spending over £100 on the meal.
