The Corn Exchange in St Edmundsbury

Busy on a Saturday lunchtime. We tried the Xmas meal with extra pigs in blankets. Good value albeit a bit underwhelming. No Roasted potato - mash instead. However it beats my home cooking

Busy for a Sunday but expected as November. Service man was nice friendly. Food was OK not completely hot but edible.

Spoons is a good place for cheap food and drinks

It's one of the best Wetherspoons I have been in, really nice decor inside. And a great atmosphere, it is really worth a visit.

As always huge selection of beers at reasonable prices. Corn exchange is amazing building.

Despite it being a madhouse on the weekend and packed, the staff were fantastic.

Both our meals were cold. We had to take them back. They then cooked them from fresh and I enjoyed mine. Why do they just try to keep food warm, even the plates were cold.

Decent space to get pub grub and few drinks in bury, affordable, shame doesn't have beer garden and only one story

As far as being open till 1am, the security staff are bullies and aggressive. We stopped in for last few drinks after a great night elsewhere for it to be spoilt at 12:30 by a tall long haired security guard telling us he needed us to leave. We still had half an hour and a jug to drink between three of us. When we said we’ll just finish up he said I’m not a person to argue with. 10 mins later and he’s clearing our jug and glasses away when we hadn’t finished. You shouldn’t say open till one if your being that aggressive with half an hour to go. Dreadful behaviour.

Our regular but greatly disappointed on Friday at18h30- whole family disappointed : out of stock Nachos, out of stock cod and chips and then to top it all out of Tikka curry SHOCKING BUT OPTION FOUR worked Chinese around the corner had everything in stock for a family of 6.

What is not to like about cheap beer and food in a pub where you can speak without shouting, go wetherspoons

Pretty nondescript, about all you'd expect from a Wetherspoons. Low prices and average quality food. The food could always be better, but for the price paid not bad. Ran out of guacamole which meant the nachos were a bit lack-luster. The cheesey chips might as well have just been regular chips with the amount of cheese they had on them. Though despite it all cheese cost an extra 50p so can't complain too much really 🤷‍♀️

They kicked out my friend because he was black.

I fell over on a wet floor in front of the bar area and hurt my hip and shoulder . There was no response from the bar staff or anyone else. We had to call for the manager to complain and his only response was “I’m sorry “. We had to ask him to take details in case there was any comeback which he took on a scruffy piece of paper. There was no accident book or any other response. I walked out with out having my order I was half way through ordering. Very poor customer service.

Quite a nice spoons and met friends for drinks at very good cost.

Very untidy,ladies toilet unkept, Vagrants drunk in entrance to the lift area. Food came to the table not what was ordered, your staff were friendly and helpful when complained about food. Won't stop us returning but these issues need addressing.we we're a table of 5.

Would be an excellent place if they could teach staff to clear tables when people have finished.... dirty dishes and glasses everywhere.... every time I have been there.

Absolutely fuming, ordered two drinks and was waiting 30min! I was watching friends get their drink when they had ordered after me and received them within 5 to 10 minutes. I had gone up and asked where my drinks were and was told they would be over soon after showing my order email. they brought over my friends drinks so I was confused as I had just showed them the drink I was missing. I asked a waiter who said he would check but another 10 mins later still nothing I went up again and was shouted at by a supervisor saying “We have made your drinks you have gotten them!!!” when I tried to say that I hadn’t received anything and tried to show him my order number again he shouted the same thing and I said “why would I lie I’ve been waiting ages I would just like my drinks” and he implied I was a liar. Thankfully a waitress was very understanding once I explained the situation and she made and brought my drinks over right away. I am shocked at how rude and unkind the supervisor of all people was to me. I understand that hospitality is a stressful and fast paced work environment but this was unacceptable and made me feel as though I was in the wrong, even though this wasn’t the case at all.

What an absolute joy to behold after driving through the night. The staff are supper happy and friendly and treat everyone with kindness and respect. The breakfast is well cooked and tasty. Bury St Edmunds you get full marks and my thanks. Fantastic all around.

Staff welcoming and helpful so are locals, food was also very good. Both a lot better then previously. It is one of the smaller wetherspoons but as alway the history of the place has been maintained. The town is well worth a walk around plenty to do and see. Been here many times this time the staff well on the ball, when a couple started to change there babies nappy on the table in the bar. People eat at that table we sat on the next table dinner had arrived and others eating all around. Staff quickly moved in to stop them and pointed them to the baby changing area. THANKYOU STAFF 😊

Good value for money food and drink interesting building

JD Weatherspoons is always a great place. I enjoyed this one very much. Beautiful architecture, very busy.

As always you know what your getting, quick service and good food. Only draw back is the noise level, my hearing aids could not cope.

It's a ok place, there more concerned with the table turn over , they should clean the tables when they clear them. As you can see. And the drinks machines never work, so when working they only fix one . And this is toast.

The Corn exchange has a beautiful ambience and exhibits great historical charm, so we went there for drinks & dinner, the usual…The drinks offered were good, however there were some specials(curry) on display, tried for the first time yesterday. It was appalling, that the staff took almost an hour to serve it after 3 constant follow ups, and when the dish was served, it was supremely spicy 🌶️ 🥵along with uncooked pappodams…When the staff was told about it, they said they couldn’t do anything but REFUND, and vanished from the scene. When I approached in person at the counter , the manager was very rude & refused to do anything ….just felt like the staff was very immature, didn’t know what they were doing and were overwhelmed. I’ve been to Wetherspoons before & had quite liked the overall place, but yesterday was very unprofessional, don’t think my friends & I would be visiting again, coz of the ungrateful service & no sense of accountability! Dont recommend!!!!!

I had an awful experience at Wetherspoons. A careless staff member spilled a drink all over my friend and then had the nerve to blame them for it! The rudeness and utter lack of professionalism from the staff were astonishing. This place is a joke and we will never be coming back to this disgraceful establishment.

Weatherspoons is good value for money. Never feel "ripped off". Had F & C this time the Family had the Indian on the menu. Good portions every one happy.

This is the best spoons ever! The staff were really helpful when asking about local public transport and so happy to clean the table and serve. Top marks 👌

Spoons is Spoons but very busy and disorganised when I visted

Fantastic building, but so loud in there, impossible to have a conversation. Had the curry on special offer, which was lovely but spoilt by rock hard nan bread which was served on top of the poppadoms, which made them floppy and chewy, instead of crispy.

We came here to try a typical English dinner in a pub, and we found very little that was typical. The location is also nice, but the air conditioning is too intrusive, so much so that you feel cold even in a sweatshirt. The service is terrible, we couldn't understand where we had to order, and the first waiter couldn't even tell us what we should do. In the end we ordered at the counter, and the lady confused the cheese burger with the normal one. When the food arrived it was very little and of very low quality, and on top of this a sandwich wasn't even arriving, until a waiter stopped him and brought it wrong the first time and cold the second time. Highly recommended place, avoid it if you can.

We come here regularly for breakfast. Normally great. But today a family group totally disrupted the environment with loud noise over a relatively quiet restaurant. I asked the manager to ask them to quieten down but he said there was nothing he could do. What a shame. The disruptive family cleared the place!

This is a lovely building but this is unreal. Some of the staff are rude and just straight up lazy. During the hour we sat here, we received our drinks and myself and another member of my family had the refills for coffee and other hot drinks. Both machines was unable to use due to having no coffee. After informing the staff they was rude. One took our cup away didn’t say anything. No replacement cup was given. Until we went to the bar. It took just over 40 minutes to clear tables that the staff who wasn’t busy just stared at the tables. Unfortunately the couple who sat at the table had to clear the table themselves. Our food came out it was stone cold. Chips wasn’t cooked properly, onion rings was soggy, then our burgers was cold. We couldn’t complain as we couldn’t find a member of staff! As we was served meat we should have been check up on after 5 minutes of our meal being served. Nobody check up on us. Staff here are walking around with moody faces.no conversation was given. Won’t be coming back here again. This place is a joke.

Who ever makes the pizza at this Spoons is absolutely smashing it. Love it. All the staff there are kind and responsive. Food is cooked well and you never wait long for table service. Best around 👌

Had a pint of real ale here but left most of it as it was flat and insipid. Can't comment on food as we didn't stay long because of the din. Fabulous building though but we won't go back.

So this is tough I was going to give this a 4 but dropped to a 3 because the food in recent years has taken a back seat, it appears we are getting less for more. When asking for sides of something such as beans we get something but as my wife says, a side is more then about 8 baked beans. I did however put it up to 4 Gain though because purchases via the app are fantastically fast. I mean I've seen people still cueing before we sat down and I've got the drinks orders before they leave the bar so I'll give it one back. Other than that, fine location, clean tidy and always busy, staff all appear to be pleasant. Happy to keep going back.

Spoons are much of a muchness so it’s the buildings that make them stand out. This one is in a great building.

First thoughts were it's a very nice building, worthy of its status. The beers were also on form. Well worth a visit.

Went today. Table was a bit dirty on arrival but they were very busy so understandable. Food good and well priced as always at wetherspoons. Food came out super quick- quicker than our drinks did actually- ordered through app

Staff were not good. Kids screaming the whole time. Waited 18 mins for a drink off app then had to go and get it ourselves as staff couldn't find table . Not wetherspoons normal good service

Busy and tables weren't cleared and cleaned quickly but probably because it was so busy. Food excellent especially for price.

Can't really complain as everyone knows what you're going to get from a Wetherspoon pub! Large range of drink options, all at decent price with variety of offers and deals.

I thought Southend had the most impressive Spoons, obviously I hadn't been here, tables are set out a bit too regimented but not the end of the world.

Food "Breakfast "was cold not up to spoons normal quality No yoghurt or bananas for the New breakfast special coffee m/c not cleaned or beans topped up.

I personally love wetherspoons BSE. Only down side is cleanliness, table's are clear but sticky and menu's are dirty and toilets are not good at all. Damaged and are not regularly cleaned. Such a shame as the location and staff fantastic 👏 just the cleanliness 👎

Everything is as good as it can be. Food, drinks, service, and ambiance are just excellent. We order and pay thru their website, and the food and drinks just come so quickly. They have promos for drinks and foods too which makes it more affordable. I love it here.

The food here is honestly terrible. I had to get a refund for my large mixed grill, they didnt ask me how I wanted the rump steak cooked, and was then told 'its well done'. After saying I cant eat a well done steak the reply was 'thats how they do it'. The adults cheese burger meal literally looked smaller than both of the kids meals we ordered. For £40 (£10 a head after the refunded mixed grill) this was absolute joke, just go to McDonalds instead. EDIT: My 10 year old daughter insisted that I add a comment about her baked beans, there was about 5 beans in total, 'baby sized' as she called it. EDIT 2: Recieved a full refund along with 2 other tables who were had similar issues, manager was nice so improved service score

Brilliant atmosphere, staff polite efficient and very hard working. Best Wetherspoons I've ever been to , and that's a lot .

Located on first floor via a staircase so not ideal for the less able, having said that the ham egg and chips was top class, quality ham made the difference. Plenty of seating and rather cool on a very hot evening made it ideal for meeting up with friends.

Ok food not to bad good beer and service

Nice place to go for a quick meal prices are good however service needs improving however there is an app you can use for table service .

You wait forever for service, and some staff are very rude with a bad attitude. Food is thrown on a plate and microwaved to death. It may be cheap, but nasty and non nutritional. And they are not “Dog friendly”?? They need to get with the times, smarten up their act, and employ staff that actually enjoy their job.

Food was your basic pub food, and drinks are cheap but not the best because it feels like they water them down, service was annoying because my brother got a pint and they id both off us when he got his, then when I got a pint literally not even 5 mins later they id us again, was kinda annoying, atmosphere is alright, just loud teenages

I wondered why the town centre was empty on a nice Saturday afternoon, but when we entered the magnificent bar room, we found everyone in there. One of the nicest Spoons I've ever been to, has made me feel much warmer towards the brand.

The food portions were descracefull the American burger with chips was awful the burger was burnt and small looked like it was slaped together and cheap it was like a kids meal it did not look like a " American burger "terrible survice was told to leave when we were discussing how upset we were with it with my brother.

As usual, very good value meal and serving staff friendly and helpful. The building itself, the top floor of the old Corn Exchange, is a beautiful building. Thanks to Wetherspoons has Benn restored and is maintained to a high standard . Well worth a visit.

They forgot about our order! Came 1 hour later while for everyone else was taking 10 minutes. Didn't apologise, only gave us excuses for their mistake.

Had a lovely meal small portion for me I had the Classic burger and chips small size as you can add extras but all at a cost wife had the mixed grill huge but twice the price of mine so should be, free drinks well paid the extra on the meal for the privilege, venue lovely old building all upstairs so if you disabled theres a lift available around the back. We shared the afters giant profiterole and ice cream which was also titchy, £30 so not bad for two of us

Not one of the best weather spoons , after waiting over half an hour for food asked what was going on to be told by the manager that the oven was on the blink, food finally arrived after 45 mins and it's half cold so sent it back, refused to give refund so after over an hour the food finally arrived, poor management and staff training,

Absolutely loved this one, so unusual

very friendly staff, nothing was too much even when very busy, A good Spoons to visit, customers are more in to the food than drinking. the only thing that lets it down a bit is two flights of stair to get to the bar, there is a lift to use, wonder what happens if it breaks down.

Food has gone downhill recently. Stale burger buns. Soggy fish and chips because they didn't strain the water from the peas.

Visited to celebrate our daughters 18th with a few drinks and nibbles and found the door staff and bar staff very friendly.

First time here the fish chips was nice. A lovely big old building. Very busy good security in there.
