The Copperhouse in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Came to the copper house with our family for breakfast, food was very reasonable priced and really good value for money. Really good customer service from the lady behind the bar food was nice and quick and we all left full. Will be back for sure 👌

3 times I've made a trip to Hayle to sample a Hampsons pasty and all 3 times the shop has been closed , not going to bother wasting my time anymore

We popped in here for a couple of drinks on a Friday night on the way back to our Airbnb in Hayle. The atmosphere was very relaxed, the lights are kept low and there are fairy lights around to make it feel a bit more cosy. Plenty of room to find a table and we enjoyed a couple of drinks just chilling. The food menu looked good but we cannot comment as we didn't have any.

We visited new years eve and on new years day for just drinks. We were appalled by the bigotry of the bar staff. Making comments about the Polish people who were in our party. I'm sorry, but racism isn't tolerated. This man should not work with the public. There is no space for these old fashioned, and just plain wrong, comments. You made us feel very small, and you're really showing your age with such nasty words. My sister in law cried when we left. I expect establishments to be inclusive. Its now 2025! I'm so sad that someone has had such a negative impact. We had previously enjoyed visiting here, but the new staff are beyond poor. Hugely disappointed and saddened today.

Went to the copper house for lunch. It’s a lovely pub and the staff are really lovely and friendly. The food was amazing and very quick service can not fault the service or chef amazing tasty food. Lovely large selection of locally brewed beverages decently priced

Have always enjoyed visiting here but the staff member today was awful. He was extremely slow and dithering around. When serving us he was muttering and tutting under his breath. I asked if everything was okay, he complained he was rushed off his feet and it would help if the management knew how to do a rota. We counted 13 people in the pub, which is the quietest it's ever been on a saturday when we've visited. We just found him highly unprofessional and awkward to speak to. Our table was sticky and we could constantly hear the gentleman moaning to other customers at the bar. It was just off putting, especially as there was near nothing going on. Maybe stop complaining and clean a table or two.

Great pub the staff however, not so great. I primarily dealt with someone called mak? Who apparently works at the bar. I have never been spoken to so rudely in my life. I was made to feel like I came second to some lady at the bar who was obviously more important than the paying customers he had waiting. He raised his voice at me when I clearly stated I had yet to be served. Extremely disappointed, I have been visiting hayle for 40 years and never come across a chap so rude. Do better

We were in Hayle visiting and a friend recommended this pub for food. We were not disappointed, food was lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, we arrived at 2:55 and didn't realise last orders for food was 2:50 but the bar lady said the chef was more than happy to take the order.

On holiday. Called in for drinks a couple of times. A very lively, friendly pub. Decided to have food tonight - excellent and great value for money.

Been coming to the copper house for 2 years. Been up and down the country in pubs but this is definitely the best place I’ve been too and Mike is one of the best barmen about. 100% would recommend

This pub is good during the day but at night if you live nearby it is a public nuisance. Yes they have music but it goes on until the early hours. There are regular fights in the back garden and drug dealing has attracted police visits with arrests.

Went to the copperhouse with my family (7 of us) ordered our roast dinner, staff were lovely and very accommodating to my daughter, Roast was brought out and was delish! Called in here on the off chance looking for food. Had the Mega Burger. It was fantastic and great value for money considering other restaurants on the same road charge nearly £20 just for a burger!! Enjoyed it that much, we booked for Sunday lunch and had one of the best roast dinners we’ve ever had and was only £7.95 each!! Apparently there is a new guy in there running the pub. We loved it and staff were great!

Visit by our relatives at 4.50pm Ordered food soggy burnt everything. Employee walked out left one woman on her own .she stated had enough of this. Customer service to the full. Couldn't make it up should have requested refund there and then but on a week break not surprised by the reviews.needs sorting

We was a party of 10 people and was originally booked in at another pub which was unfortunately cancelled due to unforseen circumstances. The Copperhouse Inn was able to accommodate us as walk ins and we thought great. On arrival the staff was welcoming but unfortunately our experience went down hill from that point. Once ordering food we was told there would be a wait which again was understandable but whilst ordering food the barmaid although we was stood (4 of us) waiting go order kept going to serve people that had came to the bar after us so was stood there for some time. Again thought oh well, my brother and sister in laws food came then my nephews very burnt burger came. After some time 40 mins my the se more food came but was clear there was struggles as the barmaid who served us walked out, says it all!. Half of our party who had eaten their food decided that they would take their child back as we was still waiting. After they went there food order came out again! Still ours was no where to be seen. Myself and my sons came after well over hour and whilst he was eating his chicken wings I noticed they was very pink on inspection then bone was pink fine but the meat was very pink/red amd clearly just needed a little longer, I spoke to the barmaid who told me that the chef said the bone was meant to be pink I again pointed out that the meat was also pink no solution was offered. I asked how long my husbands and daughters food would be and had to remind another barmaid of their order! Again after a further 10 minutes there's arrived my Husbands pie was cold in the middle and my daughter couldn't eat her pizza. At this point we didn't bother to say anything because what was the point to be met with "the chef says attitude"! The meal cost alot of money and we had to spend further money to feed our daughter else where. The table sat at the side of us a family of four recieved three meals and again after they had finished received there final one with their children becoming clearly unsettle. My advice if your a large party don't bother. Highly recommend The Union Inn in St Ives food was outstanding and although our party ordered separately we ate together and service was excellent.

Horrible meal. Fish was undercooked and soggy which made the batter also soggy. The batter was peppery. Chips were not particularly good. It came with a jug of curry sauce which was really runny. The toilets were absolutely disgusting. The only one that looked clean wouldn’t lock. We used to come here regularly at one time when the food was really good. We won’t be returning.

Burger was rubbish, corn on cob was cold Heinz ketchup was fake bottle refilled with cheap ketchup. Also bottle lid said it was 2 month out of date

Had a meal here last year and it was really nice, as shown on the pictures. Had another meal here yesterday and it was the worst meal I’ve ever had. Burger was like something from a car boot sale. I ordered the buttermilk burger and got a dry tandoori type chicken breast slapped on a rock hard bun. The mac & cheese was like rubber with curdled cheese on top and smelt like sweaty feet. We paid £40 for our meal which we could’ve spent somewhere else on much better quality and nicer food. we ended up leaving and paying again to eat somewhere else. I do not recommend eating here, the pictures are not accurate to what the food is actually like.

When we arrived we said we'd booked a table and were told to sit anywhere, no reserved sign on any of the tables. I ordered the ribs and my partner ordered the steak burger. My diet coke was watery and flat, so not a good start but when the food arrived, well that was something else. The ribs looked like the vultures had already been at them with only gristle and bone left. They were described as jack daniels ribs, but just had some sauce dumped on the top. The corn on the cob was watery when I bit into it and freezing cold like it had just been left out to defrost from the freezer. The coleslaw was cheap and watery and the salad consisted a few rocket leaves. I put my cutlery down and said I couldn't eat it. My partner offered some of his burger and that was possibly even worse than the ribs, like some smart price burger you wouldn't even feed your dog. In summary, I'd rather go looking through the bins than eat there again as I'm fairly confident I'd find something more appetising and edible.

Excellent can't fault anything about the meals. Best food we have had in Cornwall. Speak cooked to perfection as was everything else!

The staff are nice and the live music was good and maybe the food experience was just a one off. The ribs were standard chain pub, but the chicken burger was in bits and all burnt to a cinder…. and the rump steak, they should have just said we haven’t got it…. It was a tough end piece of pure gristle…pretty grim…..

We went into the Copperhouse of a lunch time, in January there is not going to be many hoilday makers around, and as a resident of Hayle for 50 odd years I thought we would have had a warm welcome. There was 1/2 a dozen people in the pub. The woman behind the bar totally ignored us ! We were looking for some drinks, she looked at us, did not acknowledge us then looked the other way and carried on with what she was doing. We walked out and went to the next pub where we got an friendly reception.

Went as a family of 5. 3 of us had steaks and the other 2 had crispy chicken burgers. Every meal was top notch & cooked perfectly and it was that good we went back twice and again top notch food. To top it off for our boys & me a cracking pool table well looked after!! 😁❤️

If you remember the TV show Pie in the Sky, chef Henry Crabbe was famed for his steak and kidney pie. Well I doubt he would have bettered Hampsons. Quite the best steak and kidney pie you can get. Main shop is at the other end of Hayle, both have friendly helpful staff.
