The Catch in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

These were not "Quality Fish & Chips". The chips were dry and overcooked. The fish was miniscule and the batter was thick, undercooked, and mostly raw. Would be hard to make it any worse. Disgusting!

Unfortunately the service was poor and the fish and chips were both hideous. The chips were triple cooked and hard as rocks. The fish was more batter than fish. The batter was so thick and cakey. I would unfortunately not recommend. There are better ones down the road.

The most amazing Thai fish curry, very authentic and aromatic highly recommended. The Thai chef is fantastic.

absolutely disgusting.. if you want to break your teeth this is the place to go.. orrrrrr if you want a new frizby buy the fish cake 🤮🤢 the worst food ever.. the batter was hard the burgers were dry and burnt but 10-10 for the curry sauce never again

Nice lady in the chippy, but sadly the fish was far to much batter and the chips were awfull and looked like they had been cooked many hours previously then just re heated......! All in all... Very disappointing, threw most of it in a bin.

Fish & Chips. Standard menu, cooked to order - call ahead or wait 15 minutes. Fish was very good, chips fairly ordinary. There is also a Thai menu to order. Fairly limited opening hours, so check.

Awsome F&C cooked in beef dripping... Crispy goodness - and the Thai menu is HHHOOOOTTTTTTTT!!!

Wonderful Thai takeaway. Good sized portions and ready when promised. Roast duck with ginger was fantastic.

Fish and chips, fish was good but batter very greasy, chips soggy, but was freshly cooked…….Could not recommend.

We've just popped in for a large chips to try out this chippy. It has a very stern sign on the wall about freshly cooked food. Freshly cooked at lunchtime to serve at 6pm. Inedible as so overcooked. I will not return or recommend this place.

The BEST fish and chips I've had since Rick Steins! I ordered and went for a drink across the road at the pub, collected at my chosen time worrying they would have been wrapped in paper, cold and soggy but the nice server wrapped it all up once I arrived. The fish was beautifully cooked and the batter was crisp, light and not at all greasy, we ordered a large chips between 3 adults and that worked well for us. Good value as well in my opinion, just less that £20 for 3 people. I'll be back!

Long wait for food. That's fine if its good. Chips were OK but fish was terrible. More fish in a fish finger and batter not cooked.

This is one of our local hippies and one of the best. Good size portions, well cooked and quality fish. The thai menu is small but also very good.

Had Fish and Chips a couple of years ago and it was poor, our daughter said it had improved,it has not. If you want Soggy Batter and chips with a tiny sliver of fish at the centre this is the place to go. I put it down the Garbage disposal and had a Twix.

I am a local and have tried all chip shops from Lostwithiel to Holmbush on the edge of St Austell. This one is the Best fish and chip shop within a 5 mile radius of Par. Good sized portions, well priced and chips non greasy. Cooked to order, Thai menu available when the staff are not overwhelmed, good also.

Sent my granddaughter to get our fish n chips ,said come back i n 30 mins when she went back she was 1 pound short it came to 21 pounds she only had 20 so sent all the way back to get a pound ,she is only 10 worst fish n chip ever

They do a very second grade fish and chips with loads of batter and very little fish

Been here a few times over the past few years and every time it has been outstanding. The Thai yellow curry fish special is beautiful and nicely spiced (hot). All good cooked fresh which is a welcome change to usual restaurants. Had the massaman curry and chilli veg side. Can’t fault it. And so many chips, not stingy with the fish in the curry either. I can’t wait to go back 😊

We had some Thai dishes not fish and chips. Surprisingly nice, if not massively authentic. May need to wait a while whilst cooking. Cash only!

We didn’t realise that the food was only cooked to order, so the wait was a long one. However, because it was going to be freshly cooked and because they said that good food takes time to cook, we decided to wait. What a disappointment. It looked lovely, the chips were ok but the fish. The batter was the thickest I think I’ve ever had, and so thick it was still uncooked on the inside. The fish was ok, but we had to scrape the batter off and bin it. If we had been closer to the shop, I would have taken both meals back. But because we line in Fowey, and because we had waited so long, we just wrote it off as a bad experience. If you don’t mind waiting up to half an hour, depending on how many people are in front of you. And you don’t mind the possibility of raw batter, then it’s your choice.

Best fish and chips in the area.

On holiday here and had fish and chips, fish was a nice size and batter was crispy, chips were cooked to how i like them and the fat used appeared fresh, (i.e was NOT old smelling / tasted) going back again tonight.

Fresh cooked food. Batter a bit thick and fish.slightly overcooked, but tasty meal and friendly staff.

We used The Catch (take away) twice whilst staying in the village, all had fish and chips which were cooked fresh to order, be prepared to wait, (it's worth it) or pre order and collect. There is also a Thai menu which we have ordered from in previous visits and this is also worth look.

I am not a massive fish and chips fan but these are the best fish and chips i have had! Thoroughly recommend.

It's ok got there near closing so chips has to be recooked after been cooked so a little greasy.

It was OK,... Everything cooked to order chips were brilliant. However, both of us thought the batter was far too heavy & tough ? The thickness of the batter disguised the thinness of the fish, both had different types. They are Thai & support a full Thai menu. I may return to sample the Thai menu or to have chips but in truth I will avoid the fish. Staff member, young lady very friendly & welcoming.

This was a welcoming place to order a takeaway. We were staying in the village, and had food from here two nights. It's opening hours were limited, so beware not for late night food! Had both the fish and chips and the Thai options. Both were cooked fresh and tasty. They were happy to take an order and we collected it.

This is an excellent Fish and Chip Shop but is also a Thai Food Takeaway.. We sampled the food twice during our 7 day stay nearby.. It is only open until 8pm each evening (Tuesday - Saturday). Firstly we tried Cod and Chips and then later in the week for Thai food off the takeaway menu.. The Cod is fresh and succulent as you would expect from somewhere near the sea.. the chips were nicely cooked and enjoyable.. the portion size is very good. The Thai food needs to be phoned in in advance and even then depending on how busy the place is you may have a five or ten minute wait.. but it will absolutely be worth it.. we sampled three dishes plus both boiled and egg fried rice - they were all beautiful delightful thai flavours with fresh ingedients.. the portion size is excellent maybe even a little too large for us.. it was most enjoyable.. and probably better than other places I have tried local to home in the midlands.. so an excellent from me, thanks a lot.

Has now become our local chippy since moving. Loving the batter and so is my partner. A small wait but as with all good food it's cooked fresh. Good portions too.

As the pub opposite was fully booked, we came here and opted to get some Thai food. It was quite disappointing, especially as both our dishes were supposed to have peanuts in. The Massaman curry and the Penang curry, neither of them had any peanuts at all. When I went back to complain, the woman working there tried to claim that they weren't supposed to have peanuts in! It wasn't until I pointed out that they are listed on the menu, that she agreed. She then offered my money back, which I accepted. I am wondering why she didn't offer to add some peanuts, maybe they didn't have any. I'll go for the fish and chips next time.

Ordered food for a family of six, four adults, two toddlers. Three portions of chips was far too many, fish itself was nice but batter far too thick and greasy. Well try somewhere else next time.

Following previous Google reviews went to The Catch for fish and chips. How right most of the previous reviews were. While not modern it remains looking clean and tidy. We placed the order for three medium fish and chips. The order was cooked fresh so took about ten minutes. The staff were friendly and polite. The chips were cooked just right and not just shone the fryer while not overcooked. All three cod were completely boneless and the batter was crisp and tasty. If you fancy something more exotic there is a Thai menu. Being completely honest, overall it was the best fish and chips I have tasted in a long time. Well recommended and can fully understand why some travel distance to buy from this traditional chippy.

Superb Fish and Chips, really crispy batter and tasty fresh cod - cooked to order so beautifully fresh. My medium cod was L-A-R-G-E! Service was very friendly - even asked me to ring her if we didn't enjoy! Well worth the 10min drive from Fowey which seems devoid of F&C shops at present.
