My wife and I and our 3 Labrador pups called in here today for lunch whilst on holiday. OMG the fish & chips were amazing. The cod was so fresh and cooked to perfection it was mouth watering. The lady who served us was a shining example to all retail staff, her politeness and attitude toward us was a throw back to the great British values long past and forgotten. We ate on the tables outside and seeing we had our hands full with our 3 labs she so kindly bought our cups of tea out to us then went in and found a plastic container and filled it with cold water and bought it out for our dogs and as if that wasn't enough she then returned with 3 cooked sausages for them one each. Now during a busy lunch service if that isn't going above and beyond then i don't know what is. The lady is a legend in our eyes in this crazy world we live in where kindness and respect has long gone she has renewed our faith in humanity. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting or living in Newquay the food is amazing and the service is fantastic. Priceless in our eye's. Richard & Suzanne 🇬🇧😊👍

Portion size were incredibly small for the price you pay! The curry sauce was the worst I’ve ever had at a chippy. You get about 5 chips in a cone. Overpriced to hell! Staff were rude - just avoid

Never again, worst chips we could find in Cornwall. The two ladies behind the counter don't seem to like their work, understandable considering the poor food they have to sell.

The place is okay however the staff are rude. I won’t be coming here again

Seems like mixed reviews on here which i dont understand, as when we went whilst on holiday, it was probably one of the best fish and chips we have had! Fresh large fish with a nice crisp batter and the chips was very nice and crisp also. The curry sauce was different and was very nice and had alot more flavour compared to other chippy curry. Fish and chips was cooked fresh when ordered. 10/10 on this visit.

Absolutely delicious fish and chips ! 2 cod and chips with chicken bites for our daughter , lovely I wish I could visit more often , definitely return in August when we are next in Cornwall

Visited after hearing the old owners were back in charge. Arrived and was serviced very quickly and with chatty smiling staff. The owners were there and made to feel very welcome. Not too pricy. Standard price for haddock about £9 which is on oar with other chip shops about town. All food cooked to order which I thoroughly enjoyed. Cannot wait to return. Thank you.

New management!! Avoid!! Worst fish and chips We ever eaten. Food wasn't fresh!! They used frozen fish and sea food to prepare. Food was oily and small portions, looked terrible. I was charged £2.40 for 3 in 1 Nescafé coffee from packet, they don't have proper coffee machine. Curry sauce made from the powder, tested awful and salthy, I was unable to eat it. I wasn't offered any ketchup, mayonnaise or tartar sauce, probably they charge extra for it. Poor quality of service by seaside. Waste of money and our time.

We are on holiday in Cornwall and had a drive out, came across this fish shop and the food was amazing! Me and my partner had fish and chips, I did question the price at 1st but then when I tasted the fish I didn't think we paid enough!. Best fish we have ever tasted. The only problem i now find is its a 4 hour drive from home 😔

Fish was rotten. Couldn't even eat it. Bisto gravy, actually, bisto is better. Rude staff members two young men served me they was very rude when I asked for salt. DO IT YOURSELF in a rude manner. Don't waste you're money it's rotten. Over priced mush

Well we wanted fish and chips for lunch and found this spot. Let's be honest it's not bistro cuisine it's sea side fish and chips but good honest food. Great views of Fistral beach and I felt good value with the family meal deal of 2 kids meals with drink and sauce and 2 adults fish and chips plus 2 cans for £27.50 pretty good. I know back home it's £9 for one portion of fish and chips so happy with the price. Fish was fresh and large white flakes, chips as good as you get from new potatoes and nice crispy batter. Staff pleasant too. Tables were clean enough and toilets too. Thanks 🙏 for lovely lunch all

The chips here were quite bland compared to harbour chippy and flounders, I had to wait a very long time for the food I ordered and whilst waiting the environment felt very hostile with staff including what might of been the manager/owner. However on a positive note a young blonde boy was very friendly and helpful, and wanted to go above and beyond, also a dark haired boy was very good at keeping it clean. These 2 were truly an asset to your team and you should be thankful for these 2 as hope they get the recognition they deserve.

Customer service was shocking. Asked for a skinless fish and it came with skin on, went and asked them to change it and they said what do you want me to do about it it's your problem no ours. It was just disgusting. The food wasn't the best I could of done better in the caravan

Very disappointed- probably the worst Fish and Chips I have ever had. Mostly uncooked and inedible. We used to go here every time we were in Newquay and always had great food - how times have changed - for the worst. Can honestly say that we will never go there ever again.

Hot fresh tasty chips - very reasonable and huge portions. Service was great. Our chips were cooked fresh and absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend.

Chips were pale and looked under cooked. The batter on the sausage was really nice as was the curry sauce. But the chips and sausage were disgusting and the staff clearly need more training. Not impressed wouldn't return. When you are by the seaside the one thing that should be spot on are the chippies

Every holiday we come down to Cornwall we always visit this chippy. Lovely views, plus seagull dodging and great tasting chippy. Won't o anywhere else for a chippy in newquay.

Came today, can honestly say best fish chips mushy peas we have had, fantastic service, fantastic food, also filled our dogs water bottle up for us much appreciated, will definitely eat there again when in area, highly recommend

Called in as wasn't too busy ,sat outside whilst our food was cooked fresh , it was delicious, fish & chips, & fishcake & chips with a separate pot of peas & curry sauce. Really enjoyed our lunch, & would recommend.

Doesnt take card. Told me where the nearest cash point is but didn't have any cash, and yes that is there fault because I was running around aimlessly looking for one as they wouldn't process our order until we paid. Could have walked to find a cash point and paid when food was ready

I came across this place by accident but what a great find it was, some of the best fish and chips (actually pie) that I have had in a long time.......this place should have a much higher trip advisor placing, go and visit

Good food, shame about customer service. Asked if there was any fish options without batter ( we are by the sea after all), went for different option, no argument. Whilst sitting outside eating food, one member of staff commented “who goes in a chip shop asking for fish without batter” whilst other staff member said “I can’t stand the way people eat their food”. Word of advice-these are your customers who pay your wages, if you have an opinion do it out of earshot or keep it to yourself. Don’t ridicule “the hand that feeds’. Won’t be going here again which is a shame as food was good. Maybe owner should Invest in customer service training or even better, get respectful staff!

Amazing food & priced well!! We had haddock & chips between 2 of us and there portions are huge! Glad we only got the one portion!! Worth a visit if your looking for some nice fish & chips

Ate there today .Fish chips and peas were as good as I've ever had. Fantastic.

Went today at 2pm. Had the fish platter. Fish was freshly cooked and very nice, haddock, cod, filo prawns, scampi, calamari were very good. Chips were a real let down. So much that my dog didn't want them. Had obviously been sat there for a long time. Very brown, very old and not very nice. Don't get how a fish and chip shop can't get chips right. It's literally the basics.

Amazing Fish & Chips made by friendly staff. Easy and quick. Also a plus to have a few tables to sit outside. Great suprise after a stroll through town.

I’ve come to Newquay regularly for years. But over the last few years I’ve never caught them open. I remember them being good. But not everybody eats after 5. The door says 11-8pm. So that’s misleading. Checked at lunch time planned the evening. Closed.

THE most bland/tasteless fish and chips I’ve ever had. Mushy peas were yellow and flavourless too and chips were undercooked.

Was served raw fish, had an upset stomach for 4 days now as I ate half the fish before I realised. Advertised as best fish and chips in Cornwall. My stomach does not agree. Avoid !

We had the fish platter for lunch, we all said the fish with light batter was very good, also the prawns and squid also very good, chips very good and crisp. Overall very nice

Hi, a great fish and chip bar, but the telephone number on here appears to be wrong. I was going to ring and find out if they were open, which this site says 'they are' because I wanted to know before I drove down there, if they still did their lovely fish platter takeaway?

Stumbled across Jon buoys whilst getting acquainted with Newquay. Good quality food and decent portions. Everyone enjoyed their food, especially the fish. If you catch a nice day of weather it's a great spot to watch the world go by

£3.20 for what was supposedly a large portion of chips! This is smaller than a small from elsewhere but the highest price absolutely ridiculous considering we are locals and will never buy from here again.

The seafood platter is amazing here, the quality and freshness of all the fish is outstanding definitely be coming back, it does get a bit crowded at lunch though.

Have visited in recent years and found food excellent but this year not so good.

Literally the best fish in town. We go back here each year and it never disappoints. Staff are all friendly. Lovely view sitting outside looking down to the beach.

Lovely fish and chip meals from this plaice - boom, tsch! Reasonably priced, indoor and outdoor seating, fish cooked fresh to order. Can’t really grumble.

Fantastic fish &chips right on the beach. Plenty of seating area with sea views. I would highly recommend this shop.

Wow!!! My mouth is watering writing this review!I can honestly say these are the best fish & chips I've ever tried.The batter was light and crispy, and all the chips were perfectly cooked! Not to mention the curry sauce, great consistency and taste!The portion size was great!Incredible value for money.Good job this isn't on my door-step, as I wouldn't be able to keep away!!!!

I thought the food was ok fish batter was soggy and chips were ok and curry souce was amazing! but the main issue was the Small portions and well over priced for what we had, my partner didn't like hers at all..... I didn't think it was bad just not amazing.

Visited in July 2019 with a family of 3 young kidsPrices were excellent, £22 for a 3 X kids meals and 2 X adult mealsThe kids meals came with drinks and beans and a large packet of sauce so really good valueWe had calamari and chips which. The portion was huge and we had lots of left over chips!We opted for take away but were allowed to eat on the benches outside which gives you a great view of the sea although it was a little windy.They take card and have toilets for customers too which is a good bonus.Staff also very friendly and helpful.Would definitely recommend and return.

A cone of chips costs only 99 pence. Yhey serve these from a separate bin and they weren't the freshest truth be told. Still perfectly okag for a quick bite.

Two adults, four kids for lunch. The fish and chips, chicken nuggets were very nice and the portions very generous. The staff were friendly and efficient, very little waiting time. We sat outside, at takeaway prices. Eat in prices only apply if you use indoor seating(sounds obvious!) Great value kids meals and location near beach is perfect. I wish we had found this place earlier in our visit; as would definitely have eaten there again.

We popped in to have fish & chips after being at the beach all day. Really good service and the fish & chips were excellent. Large portions.

So go to have Fish and chips by the sea and you get given your fish and it is RAW, so you take it back and you are told it seemed hot enough no problem i will cook you another one. 10 minutes later a new fresh piece of fish and the same result NOT the place for fish and chips unless you want raw fish.

We were staying nearby on business and took the opportunity to pop into Newquay on our day off - you can't visit a seaside town without indulging in some fish and chips and, since we were tired and Jon Buoys was the closest option, we dropped in.

Helpful guy who served my Wife and I, he ensured that we were comfortable and happy with our meal when we chose to sit upstairs in the restaurant.

The portion of food and the price were reasonable ,but because we went there for lunch they were quite busy so we did have to wait a bit for the food but not too much. The fish was a little undercooked but other than that everything else was great !

Whilst in Newquay we just had to have some local fish and chips. WOW! We had asked a local shop owner where he would recommend and he said if you want the best it has to be Jon Bouys. And, boy was be right. Freshly cooked and delicious.

Jon Buoys may not look the most appealing place but the food is exceptionally good. He seems to have a secret batter recipe for the fish that does let all the grease stick to it. Fantastic tasting fish and chips

We cued at the takeaway for a short while and ordered our Fish & Chips - over 30 minutes later (according to the ticket time) we where still waiting and when the order did appear one of the fish was not cooked at the thick end, for which we had our money back as we did not fancy a further wait!

Food was ok. However owner had no bedside manner, stone face, no smiles. Rude to his staff and customers alike. Engaging with this guy for even a minute is enough to mess up your day! I asked his staff member to swap a cheap looking kids drink full of (sugars and colouring) that came with the kids meal for a water, and offered to add on extra money for the swap; she obliged and was later savaged by said owner who refused to swap the drinks and proceeded to give me frosty looks until the end of the transaction. Would not recommend, there's plenty of other fish and chip shops (with friendly staff!) around!

Friggitoria in posizione invidiabile, poco lontano dalla spiaggia. Il locale offre tavoli sia all'interno che all'esterno, in bella posizione, ma il merluzzo, i calamari e gli scampi che abbiamo mangiato non ci hanno soddisfatto, così come le patatine, risultate un molli ... a nostro parere l'olio usato per la frittura non era il top.
