Extra point for the friendly staff! Overall it was a pleasant experience. We came on the 30th October and all scones were half price, because they have to get rid of them. Staff extremely friendly and after we sat down it got really busy. Nice tea and coffee, and the prices were reasonable. I have marked it down though because personally, if I go somewhere for afternoon tea I'd expect the scones to be freshly made. They aren't and you can tell. The other negative was the cream was either in a VERY cold fridge or frozen, you couldn't spread it. It sort of upset us as we wanted to treat our 6 year old to a nice Cornish cream tea, and it was a bit of a let down. She enjoyed it so it was fine but overall the quality wasn't great. Probably because they closed after this for the season, but at least do some fresh scones. However again staff were extremely friendly!

What a wonderful bakery in the heart of Bude, brilliant gluten free options - probably the best we’ve come across in the country, let alone in Cornwall…for the first time ever our GF daughter had as much to choose from as the rest of us. Excellent Lavazza coffee too and wonderful service.

Lovely welcome! two girls were serving today, cute little place. I went for a cream tea which was only £8 which I thinks an absolute bargain!!! Was fresh and tasty 😋 Highly recommend 👌🏻 Toilets are upstairs which if you struggle in anyway this would be unsuitable but goes with the character of the building so can’t be helped 😊

We had a very pleasant lunch here on a blustery day in Bude. The owner was very welcoming and simple lunch, my ham and Brie panini was delicious. Also a homemade fruit crumble and ice cream. It was very cosy and a really interesting old building. I would definitely go again when I’m visiting.

My husband and I came upon this great lunch venue by chance as we were driving around Bude in England. We shared a plowman's lunch so we'd have room for their magnificent scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream! What a treat the latter was! The service was good and the staff very friendly, which was a real bonus.

spent the week in Bude and came across the coffee shop one afternoon while that rain was pouring down,in need of a brew and something to eat we opened the door and I somehow kicked the step, yes it did hurt, when my wife and the ladies working there eventually stopped laughing, and offering no sympathy either.we sat and devoured the cream tea ,oh it was worth it,and a scalding hot cuppa washed the scones down.We left after paying a really fare price for really good food.We returned a few days later and for some reason they remembered us,maybe my limp was a clue and we soon were laughing again, still no sympathy on offer ,the place was very busy again .This time we ordered sandwiches and had had a few different fillings.Really great when you want something other than a huge meal and all washed down again with steaming hot drinks. This is an old world type of place,no frills, two floors and very friendly staff preparing decent food at decent prices.A nice little gesture is the discount card they give out that can be used either in the restaurant or their bakery a few doors away.

We were recommended this cafe by the Lansdowne bakery where we had just been, as it was dog friendly. Small and cosy with a lovely selection of hot and cold goodies. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful, our dog was given some doggy biscuits. We wanted a cream tea to take out as a present and they organized for us to collect one direct from the bakery just before we went home so it would be fresh. Will definitely be back next time we're in bude

We called into the bakery to ask about gluten free pasties and were told that we could go to the coffee shop and order, then the pasties would be brought up to the coffee shop after about 20 minutes as they had to be heated. We ordered and went for a 20 minute walk. Surprise surprise, when we got back, the pasties had not been ordered from the bakery so we had to wait a further 20 minutes. On arrival, the pasties were small, lukewarm, did not have much filling in them and were served with a quarter of a tomato and a one inch piece of lettuce ! The drinks were also lukewarm. The staff were friendly, if somewhat puddled and they gave us a 10% discount, but to be honest, we wish we hadn't bothered. !

We’re all vegetarian/pescatarian and I’m also intolerant to dairy and wheat - the ladies who served us where so helpful and kind, it was nice to have a good choice of food, nothing was too much trouble. The sandwich I had was great & the bread was excellent, especially considering it was gluten free. Dog friendly and people friendly too - service was lovely, funny, helpful and not over the top- and yes the dog really enjoyed the attention and fuss that he got not to mention treats. we both went for teh pasty- a good choice, nice light pastry and a plentiful filling of predominantly meat- the accompanying beans could have been a little warmer but if that was the only complaint, well what is there to worry about. Lunch was wasjed down with a proper good strong coffee, and a good pot of nice strong tea. Very reasonable prices, and it is hillarious to see the staff jog off down the street to the bakery to collect anything that they need .

Maybe we were expecting too much, but we thought a cafe that seemed to be affiliated with a bakery (albeit up the road a bit) would at least have decent scones. Instead they were dried out and tasted stale. Not helped by a tiny jar of jam and a small plastic pot of the ubiquitous (and tasteless) Rodda's clotted cream. Staff were very friendly, and the tea was fine, hence 3 stars. But the cream tea was pretty disappointing. They only take cash by the way. Fortunately I had some on me, because there's nothing to tell you that when you go in there.

Popped in on Saturday afternoon with my husband to get a hot drink and see they had gluten free scones. Had a gf tea for 2. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff didn’t have any on the counter so went to the local bakery to get them. As we don’t like fruit ones but there was only 3 plain we had an odd fruit one. I had the fruit and plain. The fruit one was definitely the better one. Was nice but could tell they had been frozen and rather too hot to eat to start off with. The tea was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Our visit was made so special by the sweet and lovely waitress, whose name I should have asked really. We had already been talking about the importantance of customer service earlier in the day, so particularly noticed how good it was in this quaint little cafe. Seating is limited, (there is an upstairs seating area too) but it was perfect just to pop in for a cuppa and a sausage roll. It was an excellent HOT cup of tea, and having just got back from Canada where they don’t know how to make tea - sorry Canada- this was greatly appreciated. On leaving, I chatted to the manageress and another smiley staff member - both were also very friendly. I will definitely return.

We visited this coffee shop and ordered two large lattes. When they arrived, I queried whether they were large lattes as the cups looked a regular size. When I parted the milk foam on top, the cup was only half full of really strong looking coffee. A latte is supposed to be a milky coffee. At £2.50 for half a cup of strong looking coffee, we declined the waitress's offer of more milk and left. I'm just thankful we hadn't already paid.

I have to agree with previous reviewer unfortunately, that the takeaway latte I had was the worst I've ever tasted- bitter and watery. Friendly front of house young girl, but there was a couple already seated and their order had already been taken when we went in. Another female customer came in about 8 minuets after us and our order had not been taken, then the waitress took her order for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks long before she came to our table. The original couple asked "if they had been forgotten". After telling them it was just coming. I could see through the metal chain fly screen to see the blonde female cooking the bacon for the woman that came in after us. By now a male had joined the female and their food was bought out before the original couple and us. The young girl had taken our order before what I can only assume were locals as the the young waitress kissed the male on the cheek. Eventually the original couple received their order, we then after another wait of several minuets our food came out. It was so obvious those of us that were visitors came a very poor second. I would have walked out, but my husband does not like to complain, so we waited. As we walked down the road back to our car my husband said how unprofessional they where and what terrible service.

The staff were perfectly friendly and welcoming and the menu looked delicious; however the latte ordered tasted as though from a cheap sachet and was not like any latte ever tasted before.for a shop that has "coffee" in its very title, one could reasonably expect coffee to be its speciality. I was very disappointed to see that someone described the decor as "outdated" I very much disagree, it gave a real homely feel to the building, the low ceilings and black beams. Whilst we were waiting for our bill we were given a 10% off card for there bakery which is just down the hill. Not only that, they offered flavoured coffee, a first here for me. We were back again today for more coffee and lunch, which was excellent. The service was so friendly and efficient. The last review makes me wonder if we are both writing about the same place - sad to see that, as we have nothing but praise for this dear little coffee shop.

We were staying in Bude for a week and as a proper coffee addict when on the hunt for a decent coffee. Oh how disappointed we were with what we received , I ordered a flat white & hubby a large latte with 2 tea cakes. What came was a white coffee for me and what looked like a cappachino for him. A couple sat next to us ask the waitress if her drink was a latte because it didn't look or taste like it and was told yes!! The lady promptly sent it back and asked for tea , I wished I'd done the same ! Taste was awful. On a positive the staff were lovely young girls serving were very polite & helpful, tea cake was lovely. Stick to tea rooms is my advice or get some "proper" coffee training to be a " coffee shop" as you advertise.

Popped in for a latte. Had a large cup, which was piping hot. Could not resist a toasted tea cake as well - yummy. Young lady who served us was very friendly and helpful; offering to bring more butter if needed. Garden on the small side but still nice to be able to sit in the sun. Very peaceful from the hustle of the high street. Nice to use a local business not one of the larger coffee shops in larger towns.

Only average for our experience of tea in the garden. The surroundings being very scruffy, furniture rickety and service poor. Who would not clear the table from a previous customer after taking the order?

Bought a few pasties for me and families lunch and was a bit put off that the staff do not wear gloves or use tongs to pick up food with.. They use there bare hands to make things even worse was when i cut into my chicken and leek pastie i found a long black hair sticking out the middle. I was disgusted and threw it away. It has put me off of eating anything from here.

Cream Tea for the very first time and it was great. The scones were fantastic. My husbands choice was an apple rasperry crumble and it was delicious. Nice place, friendly stuff.

After several days eating pasties from the Lansdowne bakery we thought we would try their coffee shop just up the hill. We were not disappointed. We decided to try the cream teas. The scones were the best I've tasted. The staff were quick & friendly. Would recommend this lovely little coffee shop to anyone.

Attracted in by quality coffee and cream tea. Scones were great but really let down by the jam and cream both being a serving from a foil topped plastic container..... Both of which were not quite enough!

On a previous visit to Bude the staff at the Lansdowne bakery recommended their coffee shop - 75 paces up the road! We must say that the pasties from the bakery were delicious and so decided to try The Coffee Shop for our first pasty of the holiday. On arrival the staff welcomed us and we found a table inside at the back of the shop. After studying the menu we waited and waited and waited!! No one came to take our order even though the waitress visited the next table and asked if they required anything further. Also there are clear notices everywhere saying that it is waitress service. After about 15 minutes of being ignored we walked out and were surprised to hear the lady behind the counter say cheerio as we walked past. We chose to ignore the fond farewell just as we'd been ignored!

Had lunch in this coffee shop as we were given a card for 10% off by a staff member whilst on the high street. We decided to go in as it had started to rain and we were told that we could take our dog in too. Food is pretty basic (not a criticism, its just simple fare and nothing fancy). Its quaint inside and the prices are reasonable too. AWESOME CHOCOLATE CAKE !!!!

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.

Haven't stayed, but excellent range of well-kept cask ales including normally a couple from Penzance Brewing Co in Crowlas, near Penzance.

What a gem! We had no idea where to go for lunch but chose the shed; a great choice! The steak was so good and the sole cooked to perfection. Great wine, appetisers and dessert to boot. Fantastic value and the service was great Thank you so much.
