Food isn't bad most of the time if hugely overpriced, air con is pretty abysmal in the hotter months. Staff work their socks off but clearly the management are absolutely clueless. Constantly hear arguments and you can tell the staff get disheartened from it. Just a shame that the management clearly only care about the bottom line and not staff wellbeing and happiness. In conclusion, go for food if money is not an issue but by no means work there and as a guest be prepared for some Jeremy Kyle sideshow at times.

Visited The Coffee Pot yesterday around 11.00 am. On entering we were offered a table and brought some menus and a waitress quickly returned for our order. We ordered a chicken and bacon salad sandwich on granary and I ordered a toastie with cheese tuna and onion with a side of crispy potatoes and coleslaw. Tea and Diet coke. Drinks came after a few minutes however the food took almost 30 minutes. On arrival i noticed that not only my friends bread was not granary the salad was not in the sandwich either ( hardly a difficult request ) My food was just a disaster, the toastie was cold to the point that the cheese had started to set again and the crispy potatoes were neither hot or crispy. I sent my friends sandwich back first and then mine once i had bitten into it. At this point the so called Chef came out and confronted me ( slim woman with dark hair which should have been tied back ) She asked what the problem was and I repeated that not only we had to wait 30 mins for our food it was wrong and cold,( this may be due to the fact that the young waitress was too busy washing up to notice that food was ready ) she argued saying it was not that length of time and also it was not cold and she would have to re make all again. I asked how long that would take and she replied very rudely AS LONG AS IT TAKES How Rude ! With that I decided to pay for our drinks and leave. The Lady in the kitchen clearly lacks even the most basic of customer service skills and her cooking skills need to be greatly improved. We will not be returning. Went round the corner and had a lovely lunch welcomed by all the lovely staff.

I sometimes visit this cafe with friends etc However, Tuesday afternoon, It was fairly busy when I came in with a friend. They asked us to take a seat straight away. They gave us menus, plenty of choice, waitress seemed a little impatient with orders. However, We came to order, I wanted the bake potato, ham, cheese and beans, the waitress interrupted me and went quite impolite at this part, stating as the list of fillings was Ham, Cheese, Beans and coleslaw which I didn’t want, or there was some certain ones that were on offer?????? Anyway, I was informing the waitress I wanted those three which is had to charge me 50p extras(guaranteed it was on the same part of the list? Blimming cheek!!! I order a latte with vanilla syrup as well. Orders took a little while. Portions were huge took me ages to eat!! I had extra juice as well. We paid, very expensive over £12.00 for what I had!!! Shocking..... I don’t think I’ll return for a while....

Wasn't very busy on a Saturday morning, so was a bit concerned it might not be good, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I had the big cooked breakfast which was just the right size; not huge but big enough to fill me up. Staff were attentive but not annoying. The Chef even came out to confirm details of my mushroom allergy. Food cooked well and from fresh. Price was good for the service and the food quantity/quality. I will use this establishment again.

We couldn’t get a table at our usual coffee shop so tried The Coffee Pot for the first time. It’s a nice little shop in the heart of Ampthill serving a variety of cakes and quick eats such as jacket potatoes and sandwiches. The staff were very accommodating and friendly but service was a little slow. The prices are reasonable (£5.49 for a jacket potato and salad with a generous topping). However, we were left really disappointed with our bill. Staff charged us £4.49 for one scrambled egg (no toast). This was the same price as an adult portion of baked beans on 2 slices toast. To us this just didn’t seem reasonable or fair. On the whole we would recommend but don’t go off menu unless you’re happy to pay over the odds!

We visited here on a saturday morning and rather than heading for the usual costa thought we would support a local business. We were only people in their so service was quick. The homemade cakes in the counter looked lovely and the coffee and walnut cake did not disappoint. The latte was disappointing. Not like a fresh brewed coffee. My husband chose a bacon sandwich on brown bread which at 4.49 seemed quite pricey. Bacon was cooked okay but cutting a sandwhich into 4 triangles is fine for kids but not for aj adult. Made it quite difficult to add sauce. Staff were friendly though.

We stopped here for a quick stop. It is a small but very popular cafe. Staff friendly and helpful. Latte coffees were average. Tomato soup was lovely served with bread. Reasonable prices.

For the 2nd year in a row we cycled out from Center Parcs and visited The Coffee Pot, this time for breakfast. I like being able to support a local business and the food and service did not disappoint. Great friendly service and a cracking quality breakfast served on good crockery. Teapot refilled with no issue. Good value too. Just what you want from a local cafe. Hopefully we will be back in again next year.

I used to come here with my Mum after doctors appointments to make the day bearable. I used to have a really nice panini thing with chicken and mozzarella in it and it was so tasty. But after going a few times, they at least halved the amount of filling in the panini leaving it really dry and just not worth it. Also, I ordered a coke and it wasn’t fizzy at all. Maybe it was out of date? Plus it was overpriced for what you get.

We called in for lunch. Nothing fancy - a baguette with coronation chicken and a pot of tea. Great friendly atmosphere. A traditional 'old school' café - no frills just honest food and great service. Beware the step as you enter! It is clearly marked with black and yellow tape but some people still miss it! There are plenty of cafes to choose from in Ampthill but give this one a chance - it's well worth a visit.

Small local cafe in the heart of Ampthill. Refreshingly friendly and predictably popular at lunchtimes. Polite staff who make sure you are happy - even top up your teapot with fresh hot water without charging. Lovely place to sit, eat breakfast, read the paper and watch the world go by.

I took a friend of mine whilst we were in town. It was about 12:30pm. There were no mochas on the menu. We asked as they were able to cater. There was no option for soy. The mocha for my friend was weak. The cap that I ordered was slightly burned. There were three cakes available to eat. I had carrot cake and my friend had the walnut. Both were incredibly dry. The service was left wanting. Although we were the only ones in the place, the ladies talked in the kitchen for so long we were wondering if we should leave. I'm so sorry to have left this review, but it did leave a bad taste in our mouths for a while.

Went there today for a little treat for my mother as we had to come in to town for the doctors. We waited a while for someone to take our order, despite being the only people in the place. Service was unaccountably slow and the flapjack was inedible- way too dry and chewy. I appreciate it was homemade, but not to my taste, sorry. The tea cake was also very dry and uninspiring. Tea arrived some time after the food and was hot and good but not enough milk for two people. Really disappointing and won't be back.

Lunch time visit - not too busy. It's not clear whether it's a table-service or order-at-counter type place and after sitting down for a while I was only acknowledged when I stood up to head to the till. (It's table service.) Latte fine. Cheese baguette underwhelming - very mild cheddar which was disappointing. There is a lot on offer in this town so it won't be a first choice.

Really good toastie and the diner next to us was tucking into a very tempting looking Full English. Nice ambience, friendly and a nice traditional feel to the place. The cakes looked fairly impressive too. They stock GF bread.

What a lovely gem of a pub. Very friendly pub in a lovely little Bedfordshire village! We were here today for a Sunday roast and after eating out at more expensive restaurants in the area and being disappointed by their high prices and average food, this was on another level, it was beautiful!! Everything was freshly cooked and home mad at a very reasonable price. Shall definitely be returning.😁

This place could be amazing but it is lacking atmosphere and the food is very ordinary. It needs a total overhaul. Everything feels dated and they need to look at other restaurants/brasseries in other area. It always seems half empty. Wouldn't go back again.

The staff were pleasant and the food was fine but oh so slow! From the time we arrived we were waiting at every stage. Waiting to be seated, there was no one in sight. Eventually we were shown to our seats and waited again for someone to take our order, waited again and, after being there over 30 minutes, our tea and coffee arrived, but no milk. The coffee was fine but the tea wasn’t hot, but drinkable as long as I drank it straight down. Another long wait for sandwiches and again a wait for cakes. I would have preferred everything to arrive at once so that I could decide how long to take to eat them. As it was we were there over 2 hours and I was bored. I would hate to be there if it was full as today less than half the tables were taken. Not the best experience of afternoon tea I’m afraid.

Stopped in for a tea, coffee and scone for the first time this weekend as we happened to drive past. It was all lovely and reasonably priced. However it is disappointing that a venue in such a prime countryside location doesn’t at least allow dogs inside somewhere. I imagine their foot traffic would increase substantially if dog walkers could come in for a post/pre walk refreshment.
