Good food, not so good service. Sat outside to eat, served in boxes and had to go in to collect our food. Anyone waiting outside for takeaway had food brought to their table or their car. Instructed to use public bins when finished despite paying same price as others sat inside with food brought to and cleared from them. Not sure what we did to deserve lesser service than everyone else.

Great fish and chips cafe which I dropped into while passing. Service was enthusiastic, and quality of food was excellent, best fish and chips I have had in years.

when i entered the shop a women with black hair was extremely rude and has so much attention i could smell it , she was gossiping about me to her colleagues

We had cod and chips and it was great. Their gravy is amazing. I found the portion slightly smaller than what I'm used to, especially for the price. If I were to return, I wouldn't ask for salt on the food.

Absolutely lovely place to visit. I had two fish and chips in my life, first one in London in Michelin restaurant and second one here - and here I love much more.

A nice little fish & chips restaurant on the seafront. Eat in and take away options both available - although I'd be more inclined to take away and eat on the beach or in the comfort of your own home. Food was really nice, and the portions were very generous. All cooked fresh, and there was not a long wait. Staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Prices here are competitive, not cheap nor expensive. £6.50 for a medium cod. I'd probably come here again.

My only thing was when I was sitting down facing the frying area. Cleanliness is not great . The food was nice and I was not ill. It's not the first time I have been, and I will probably go back . Maybe give it a spring clean .

Quite possibly the best fish and chips in Hastings. Crispy batter on a lovely fish fillet with skin. Nicely cooked chips, really helpful staff. Plus reasonable prices for fishy tea. Enjoyed a sit in meal with the family - being born and bred in Hastings we’ve tried them all. But is my current top favourite fish bar. Kudos to the really accommodating and pleasant staff who help make the experience even more delightful 🐠✨

Very expensive for what you get. Chicken nuggets are same as in mc donalds,chips was so dry fish full of oil. Not coming back...

Having joined the Fish & Chip Appreciation Society on Facebook, I have been developing a major craving for Fish & Chips over the last week. Popped down here after work today, and had a lovely supper. Large cod & chips for me, with a side of mushies and a mug of tea. Regular for the wife with a diet coke. Plus, two cod roe as an extra. Perfectly cooked and tasted excellent. Managed to finish the whole lot - feel a bit full now. Good price at just over £30 for the whole lot.

Honest review, which goes against most I can see , maybe I went on the wrong day? It was a very busy day , there was a festival on in town and the que was out there door, there was no seats available inside, which was fine as wanted to take away. Ordered 2 large cod, chips and curry sauce, the very friendly staff seemed unsure if there was any large cod left , I should have probably left it at that point but he came back and said they could do it so I went ahead. When I received the food I was very excited to Try it after so many good reviews I had seen, I'm sorry to say it was disappointing, the cod was very greasy and for a large portion lacked a good amount of fish , the chips were ok but too crispy for my taste. The curry sauce was very good. 3 out of 5 overall, Wasn't bad but wasn't on the level that I was expecting . I could see how popular it is though maybe on a quite day with less pressure it would live up expectation

This is what you want from a seaside eatery. A reasonable, priced, freshly cooked classic fish and chips dinner served sitting down with plates and metal cutlery. Classic fare gor a day out at the sea.

Such a lovely experience for our last stay at Hastings to eat. The service was friendly and very efficient, the food was wonderful, the best chips we have ever had and we've had our fair few! Fluffy and crisp chips that were not oily, sausages and nuggets the same and by the looks of the fish we saw, large and tasty too.All of our children the youngest being 4 were catered for just as we as adults were. We will definitely go back and only choose these guys for a chippy dinner and a cheeky glass of wine. Untill next time thankyou

What’s to say? This is what an English day at the seaside is all about. Lovely freshly cooked (to order, no hanging about in the hot cabinet) fish, chips, mushy peas and a bottle of cider. Fish fresh from the fishermen, just down the road, nice crispy batter, perfect chips😋 Friendly young staff. Just as it should be😊

I went to Hastings for a day out and was trying to find a nice fish and chips place, I decided to try this restaurant today my god was the food nice, the stuff was lovely and brang out everything with polite manners and funny humour. The food was so good aswell; I chicken and chips and there chicken was full of flavour and moist and there chips was so nice. Definitely going again :)

The best fish and chips we’ve ever had! Not too oily at all like some places which we were afraid of, but it was perfect! The batter just right! When we’re back in Hastings will come back for more each time that’s for sure and the staff is just lovely

Honest to God the best fish and chips I have ever had! Went for a large one, and it was the size of a basking shark! Chips are so crunchy but fluffy. Staff are always friendly and attentive, and it's super clean. My dog is allowed in, and I get him a sausage, and they offer him water, which I love! Prices are very fair! All around, great restaurant!

We haven't been here for a good while but always had good food here so tried it again ,we had five cod and chips we found the batter was overcooked so dark brown and too hard and the chips were more crunchy than a fish and chip shop usually have !!we enjoyed the food but definitely not as good as before when we used to go there !!

As always the food was very good, my wife's large cod and chips was massive, my chicken burger and chips was great, and with a can of drink each less than £25.00 for both, clean tidy and pleasant.

The best fish and chips in Hastings. I think better than Maggie's which is locally famous for its food. We sat in to eat, food was just perfectly cooked, chips were golden with a slight firmness not pasty and limp, tasted like my nan's so i was happy. Fish was the tastiest I have had in ages, slightly sweet and batter was just spot on. Mushy peas were fabulous. Service wasn't great but I think the young guy had just started there, the lady who took the bill was really nice. Not sure what to put as atmosphere but it's on the seafront and serves the best fish and chips I have ever had so five stars.

The Cod Father is a smaller, cosy restaurant. The chips are great and the fish is fresh and tasty. The salt and vinegar are both fine but the tartare sauce was strongly mustard flavoured (our personal preference is for a more mild mustard flavouring), so consider this before splashing tartare sauce all over your lovely fish! The service was great too. The waitress asked if everything was to our liking during the meal, which was nice. It has indoor and outdoor seating too, so you can choose depending on the weather. Lastly, it is by the seaside and near the fairground attractions, like the roller coaster.

地元のイギリス人の人に勧められて行ってきました。Haddock f& chipsとGherkinsをオーダー。昔、ロンドンの街中で食べたフィッシュ&チップスがオイリーでべちゃっとしてたので、美味しい記憶がなかったのですが、コッドファーザーのフィッシュ&チップスは外はカリッと中はフワッとしてて、とても美味しかったです！他のメニューも食べてみたくなりました。The Famous Cod Father Fish & Chips最高です。 イギリス人がフィッシュ&チップスが好きなのが分かりました。

Great Fish & Chips - chips were even a bit crunchy, which is unusual for a chippy.

Very tasty food. But had to wait outside in the freezing wind and rain for over half an hour for 4 portions of chips and two sausages. (Though I did get an apology for the wait in the end). People coming after us were served and gone and we were still standing there. Not particularly impressed considering it wasn't anything complicated. Two stars lost due to the long wait and the fact we were left outside.

Had lunch here yesterday and we was very impressed. Food was fresh and a good portion size. I had a batteted savaloy, a first for me, and it was lovely. Staff were attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend a visit

One of the best fish and chips i have eaten! Fed seven of us for just over £40. The chips are really nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The cod is really fresh and the batter was really tasty too

Shocking, rude Don't spend your money here ! Not allowed to use sauce available was offered by there staff to pay minimum £5 charge for a bit sauce lol no thanks. Do yourself a favour go to a different one

Great customer experience. The inside is on the smaller side (its a bit tight for space) and we had a child in a buggy and they were more then accommodating for us to make some space and offer a high chair. The staff were very friendly and the service was quick! The food was very tasty and we all enjoyed it. For the price we paid, we were all very hard with our food!

A really lovely plate of freshly cooked fish and chips served by very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, and the food was superb. Good strong mug of tea, perfect. Couldn't be better on a cold day!

i’ve heard great things so shame when me and my sister wanted to try it out and the service was awful i’ve got to be honest, we had a buggy which we parked right in a corner but was told we couldn’t leave it like that ( it was barely in the way and no customers would be affected) but there was nowhere else to put it? definitely not wheelchair friendly in the slightest and i suggest they tell their workers to not be so rude when speaking to customers

We enjoyed our visit . Nice staff. You can see the chef making the food fresh. The chips are perfectly crispy and fluffy. Nice cod and crispy batter but no flavour in the batter. Portion sizes are very good. Curry sauce tasty. Customers in the restaurant on phone loud speaker ruined the atmosphere really should have been asked to turn it off was constant during my visit. Appeared clean. Could do with new menus as they are quite dirty and look old. I would eat here again

Ordered two kids cod and chips and it was more than enough for me and my partner. The cod was well cooked, with nice crispy batter and the chips were perfectly cooked too. It was a chilly October day in Hastings, so not many people were about, but inside was cosy and the staff were lovely.

Made-to-order from scratch, steaming hot large portions. Cozy. Sea in view. Smells fresh. This place was great. Of course my experience was just one moment in time but I’d go back without hesitation and feel I’d get the same great experience.

The chips here are amazing! I nipped in on a very rainy Thursday night. Served by a lovely man who took my order, asked where I was parked then offered to bring my order to me when it was ready! The chips and cod roe was red hot straight out of the fryer and were delicious. 5* for customer service and 5* for the food! If you’re ever on holiday in Hastings or if you just live there be sure to visit this chip shop! Well worth it

Went to the Cod father on a recommendation but wouldn't go back unless it was just for chips, which were lovely. However the fish was soaked in oil, I had to take all the batter off and throw it away 😕

We Usually go for take away option. Today we sat inside the restaurant. Was busy with it being bank holiday Monday. Staff polite table service was good and didn't have to wait too long for the food. When arrived food was very hot and freshly cooked. Very enjoyable. We had burgers (cheeseburger and a chicken burger) with chips and a fish and chips. Would recommend this restaurant and takeaway.
