What a great find! We were staying at Flackley Ash Hotel for my partner’s 70th and we walked down to The Cock Inn each of the four nights we were staying there. What a welcome from Simon and his colleagues and from the regulars. We had a great time and would love to go back. Food was amazing too. Great menu. Loads of choice. Thanks for the games of pool.

I booked a table a few weeks ahead for a Sunday Roast as was having a break for a few days in the area. Arrived for our booked table for 3pm to be told they were no longer serving. So we went away hungry and could not find anywhere else in the area at short notice. I told the lady behind the bar we booked a table at 3pm….she was just staring at me!! Why take a booking if it cannot be honoured! Maybe we dodged a bullet! Will never be back!

We went for a meal as a family to celebrate my sons birthday , he enjoys it so much he chooses to eat here every birthday ! Me and my husband had the chicken kebab and it was really lovely and loved the way it was presented to us on a stand with hanging skewers , birthday boy had a burger with cheese and chips and picked mozzarella sticks to share with his brother , all in all was a lovely dinner , staff are lovely and the atmosphere was lovely too , one of our favourite places to eat on holiday!

It is a pretty basic pub, but the staff are very, very friendly. The food just lacked flavour - one of us had macaroni cheese, and there wasn’t much if any cheese in the sauce - it was more like macaroni bechamel with a sprinkling of cheddar on top. That said, the portion was big and the fries were nice. The bar tender did vape as he went around the pub, which we didn’t love, but it’s his place I guess! The pub was very quiet, which was a real shame, but it’s got a nice little garden out the back and it’s fairly priced.

My friend, who was visiting from The Netherlands, wanted to experience a “traditional meal in a traditional pub”. Most establishments now advertise themselves as gastro pubs, which wasn’t what we were looking for. Having read the most recent reviews and looked at the menu we selected ‘The Cock Inn’ in Peasmarsh. My friend ordered from the section entitled ‘pub classics’, selecting Steak & Ale Pie which was described as (presumably served with) “Creamy Mashed Potato & Seasonal Vegetables” for £15 As a vegan who is wheat intolerant my own choice was very limited but I’m used to this. There was no indication that any dishes were gluten free, although there was the standard notice regarding allergens “please make us aware when ordering food” I did query one dish which turned out not to be gluten free and took a stab in the dark and selected “a trio of sausages’ which was served with ‘beans and chips’. The beans turned out, not surprisingly. to be baked beans. We ordered cola light and bitter lemon to drink. The drinks were fine but when my friend ordered a second glass of bitter lemon he couldn’t drink it - he said it tasted as if someone had squirted washing up liquid into the glass. Both hot meals arrived on cold plates. Neither looked remotely appetising. The pastry on the steak pie was pale and insipid, (it looked undercooked) and was served with gravy, a dollop of overcooked cabbage and carrots. There was a round of what looked like potato mashed with parsnip or onions. What I had thought was either parsnip or onions turned out to be just lumps of potato. So much for the ‘creamy’ mashed potato and ‘seasonal’ vegetables. Carrot and cabbage cannot, surely, be described as ‘seasonal, vegetables’ in August - or does seasonable now mean vegetables that are available whatever the season? My meal was so poor that I left most of it. Both sausages and crinkle chips were obviously straight out of the freezer: some of the chips were hot but too many were barely warm and the baked beans were cold. The sausages, however, had been heated to within an inch of their lives: hot but hard, dried up and tasteless. I was charged £12 for this! When I went to pay, the barmaid, who was friendly enough, asked if we had enjoyed our meal. I replied “Not really” and went on to describe the state of my meal. “Oh we always serve on cold plates and you should have told me about the cold food and I would have heated it up for you”. I didn’t mention the soapy drink as I felt it was up to my friend to make his own complaints as I hadn’t actually tasted either the drink or his meal but he (and I) just wanted to leave there as fast as possible. My advice to prospective diners is: read ALL the reviews before you go there. We should have done. The claim on their website is “It's important to us that we serve the best quality food we can to our customers”. All I can say is “Really?”

Called in for a quick bite to eat on the way home from Rye. The outside is not the appealing, but that could be because it was a wet drab Bank Holiday Monday but decided to stop as car park was quite busy (always a good sign). Once inside, we were made welcome, the choice of menu was good, but as we only wanted lunch decided to go for the baguette, trust me it was a very good size with a generous amount of filling, a fresh side salad and a very large portion of chips. One of us had the all day breakfast, again a very good size and good value for money. They were very happy for our dog to come in the pub. Staff were very friendly, my only complaint is I enjoyed my baguette so much and it was such a good size, I couldn't manage dessert Still there's always next time.

Stumbled upon this cafe on the way to Rye. Staff very friendly and the food was good. Plenty of regulars. Lots of parking too. They also sell cards.

We have always ate at our local befeeter but now we have tried this one I will never eat at our local again. The chef is amazing food came out hot looked amazing and tasted the best I have tasted in a long time. This chef must love his job and I hope he is proud of what he achieved. We ordered a 3 course and couldn't manage it. We have to order a 3 course at our local as portions are so small. I still can't get over how amazing my meal was. And the place its self we have never been didn't even know it was there. It was just by chance that rainbow restaurant had no heating so we googled and found this place. We was worried would end up at the one near premiere inn, but this place is so lovely. Cosy, welcoming, we have said we will travel an hour just to go and have lunch again or even book a hotel to spend the evening here as such a nice place. Everything I wanted relaxed. Warm and such friendly staff. Waitress couldn't do enough for us. Wish I had room for desert.

Really lovely location on the beach. Abit difficult to find. You go threw a tunnel to get to the stoney beach. Lovely young lady was very pleasant. Lovely views. Food was nice and coffee. Good service.

A few improvements to take on board. Three vegetarians and one meat eater. Ordered two vegetarian nut roasts and it turned out to be boiled rice with nuts and berries. The roast potatoes and parsnips were lovely, the soup my husband had was lovely and the roast beef for our friend ordered was eaten without leaving a scrap. The homemade ice cream was filled with ice crystals and could not be eaten (which was a pity as it was very tasty). For thee meals, one soup and four desserts and four non alcoholic drinks the bill came to £120. The vegetarian roasts need work. I did ask the waiter if the roast vegetables had been cooked in oil and if the gravy was vegetarian and they had to return to the kitchen to ask. Not reassuring for a veggie... All in all it was good food in a quaint restaurant. The restaurant was empty on a Sunday lunch time which I did find strange. A proper veggie roast would have been nice though. A huge plus is that it is dog friendly.
