The Cobblestones in Fenland

Granted the food has improved from the buy one get one free days. But last night I was charged a ridiculous £9.75 for a single glass of red wine. So I shall not be going again.

The staff are lovely, friendly people and were welcoming. After reading recent reviews on the local Facebook page, and although they were mixed it did appear to be more positives, so we thought we'd return ourselves. We haven't been for a few years following some poor quality meals. However, our visit this week only left us very disappointed. Unfortunately both our meals were below average, and although much was left on plates, we weren't asked if everything had been ok as the bill was presented after declining desserts. The Steak & Ale Pie top crust was rock hard - it was as if the pie had been kept warm all day. The garden peas were dehydrated as been overcooked and kept warm. Some of the chips were rock hard. The steak was dry and tough even though cooked as requested, medium rare, so our guess is the meat was of cheap quality. All our family wanted to know how it was as also thinking of trying again. So, whilst we were hopeful that Cobblestones had changed for the better, we cannot recommend as we won't be returning ourselves.

Booked a table for 12 on a busy Saturday afternoon, to celebrate a family birthday, staff were lovely and informed us of a slightly longer wait on food due to them being extra busy. Food was delicious and good value for money. The only criticism is that the app didn’t seem to show everything on the menu so we had to go to the bar to order. Thanks to the team

Hi Went for lunch and everything was great. Didn’t wait too long for food. Watched the large tv …Our little Jack Russell was made very welcome. A special mention to Grace who was very customer friendly and we had a lovely chat. She loved Pippy. Happy birthday for next week Grace. Will return soon.

We often come to the cobblestones and enjoy yourselves but tonight was really great, our server Tara was absolutely brilliant, fun, bubbly and made our experience so worth coming! The food was excellent and the services is impeccable, will def be back and if we have Tara again it will just make the experience better, thank you for having us and would highly recommending Tara😊

Cobblestones - March Very good food and choices of drinks. Quality food. Exceeded expectations.

Gluten free menu great but the staff adapted the Sunday roast so I could join in with the Sunday roast dinner. I didn't feel I missed out and had plenty to eat. So many places say they adapt it but you end up paying full price for half a meal because they just don't give you anything with gluten in it. The staff were lovely and didn't make me feel I was being fussy for having a serious medical condition, which is a rarity. Highly recommend for people needing gluten free food!

2 of our party had the same meal (chicken) both became valiantly sick within 2 hours of eating. Continuing to be very poorly for 24 hours. Clearly food poisoning. Do not eat here!

Wow, 1st time visiting, the restaurant & bar was tasteful decorated, staff were friendly & polite, food was served quickly, hot, good value for money & delicious, my overall experience was amazing, definitely will visit again 😊

Fantastic place for a night out with friends and family alike.

Very poor, no draught bitters available, food either over cooked or such poor quality it was inedible and slow service despite being quiet on a Saturday lunch. Even had to get own cutlery from a tray near bar -brings all sorts of hygiene issues. No checkback on whether we enjoyed meal and as they take payment in advance no opportunity to discuss with staff how bad it was. Some dishes served on chipped crockery. If you do risk it, don't have the sirloin, it was gristly and tasteless. Edit, just had a reply telling me that I was placed in the non-problem service area implying that was because we were a walk in. We were not, we had booked well in advance so the reply, I'm afraid is an excuse.

Overall fine, friendly service. Portion size of the chips and sauce with the fish & chips was small, sauce didn't even cover the bottom of the pot and the option to double the chip portion for a cost shows that it's to small in the 1st place. Nevertheless still tipped and would try going again.

Stopped here for lunch on our way home after a break away. Food very good and staff very friendly and obliging.

Went to cobblestone Saturday 21st September for lunch with friends so disappointed the wait for our order well over an hour portion size wasn’t the. Biggest difficult to understand the delay as it wasn’t busy . Staff seemed very stressed felt sorry for them doubt we will return.

What a horrible place to eat now, 20 mins before we was even asked if we wanted a drink, not busy today either.

This visit was really good. The food was tasty and Tara was professional and attentive and very friendly.

I visit the Cobblestones a couple of times per month with my Mother and her Auntie whom is wheel chair bound. The staff are always so helpful and attentive. We visited on Thursday 12th September at 2.15pm and I have to say the young lady that greeted us and served us yesterday (Freya) was absolutely outstanding , she was so polite and helpful , nothing was too much trouble. Freya is a credit to the team.

Decided to try Cobblestones again after a long break and things have changed. Service was very good and it was busy when we were there mid week. Food is still good and staff checked for allergies before taking our order and were attentive and helpful.

Would have liked more veg with Sunday roast and a little less potato.

Staff were great. Table numbers missing and tables sticky but staff sorted this out. Enjoyed our meals and very reasonable price.

Nice and relaxed. Staff very helpful and at the time they were running a coupon offer which is always a bonus.

We were made very welcome and seated near a window with plenty room for a wheelchair, as requested when we booked. The meals, drink and ice cream were lovely and the staff was very attentive.

Meats on mixed grill were cold. Extra chips were ordered for 2 meals but these had to be prompted as not with meals on delivery to table. One meal was also poor size for the cost.

March Cobblestones is the best. Dog friendly, so I called in to break up a long journey and give my dog a break. We were made very welcome by the friendly staff, and my lunchtime veggie burger was very tasty. I will call in again in future, because of this positive experience.

Went because your term's stated children eat for a £1. No where did it mention it had to be off the children's menu. This is misleading.

We were visiting the area and meeting a relative from nearby who has a medical condition which makes travel difficult. Having spent time with our relative we decided to have a meal. A search of the internet and a telephone call provided a solution to the meal requirement. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a clean table. Drinks were ordered followed by the meal. Both were served with care. The food was of good quality. Having spent a relaxing and enjoyable time we parted knowing that this will not be the last time we visited this establishment.

Nice and quiet Tuesday night. Full helpful service, peaceful atmosphere. 3 incredible courses, perfectly cooked chicken wings and the ultimate spicy burger was the perfect mix of spice and sweet. Very much impressed by the chef, Sam. Service was quick and efficient too. Compliments to the staff, Alfie, Holly and laney. Definitely worth the 5 stars.

This resturant has a lovely comfortable friendly feel to it. Polite staff. Food arrived hot and well presented. We look forward to our next visit.

I am totally dismaid that you have a Christmas tree and decorations displayed already. I understand that you want to be booked out for Christmas but it is four months away, and we have just had the late summer bank holiday. It totally takes away the magic and excitement of Christmas

Popped in for a light lunch. Had a senior moment and forgot the garlic bread.Waiter rushed it through so we could have it with our meal.

Had an excellent experience at Cobblestones yesterday. My wife has allergies and they went out of their way to provide a suitable meal for her. Our meals were wonderful.

Good light lunch and good offers. Friendly welcome. Liked being given the choice as to whether we wanted table service or order at the bar. We chose the latter so didn’t feel rushed but was nice having the option there. Copy

Went out for family meal for my grandad in total there was around 20 of us we pre-booked table 2 weeks in advance before turning up. When we all arrived we was told there was no table booked. It was very busy and we had to sit on the separate tables which was less than unfair and very unprofessional. When we asked the manager. I think it was about the situation they couldn’t have given to pennies about it. It was a Sunday so most of us had roast dinners only to be told half of the meat they served on Sunday was unavailable in total. We waited around one hour and 45 minutes for our food just to turn up stone cold and sludgy.. on the plus side the crumble was nice. Lady that served us our food grace I think her name was young brown haired girl was very very polite well mannered couldn’t fault her she was amazing. I know you’re busy in a restaurant. It is difficult difficult but there is no excuse for food to turn up stone cold as if it was fresh out the freezer very very disappointed even though I’ve been going there for years with family, hope it changes.

Whilst the staff were fine, the food really is pretty average I’m afraid. Steaks aren’t cooked as requested, and burgers are nothing like those pictured on the menu. However, the biggest issue for me was the “app” thing needed to order the food. It’s an awfull way to order, and separates you completely from staff interaction. I’m sure this is becoming the norm, but I’d have probably ordered a starter, and certainly had another pint or two if staff had come to the table and asked!… The thing is, I really want to like this place, it’s within walking distance of my home, is dog friendly, and serves good beer. I probably have a meal here every six months, hoping for it to improve. But it simply doesn’t, it’s really frustrating as the staff are pleasant enough, and I can’t help feeling the chefs have there hands tied as far as portion size and presentation are concerned. I just think a little more quality would have me (and many others) using your establishment more regularly. I hope this is taken as Constructive, and really hope things improve enough to encourage a more regular clientele..

Excellent overall, however let badly down by not having a teapot with a lid, used sauce tub as lid. If royalty turned up is that acceptable? doubt it !!

We had popped into a different pub on the promise of great food and local atmosphere. Unfortunately the service was surly and the food promised on the website wasn’t available. So we came to you … we were expecting just standard Marston’s fare . What we got was amazing fun service and food that did exactly what it said on the tin. Thank you for your service over the last 13 years at Cobblestones Unfortunately we Shall Not Be Returning, we were your 2nd oldest customers who walked through the front door on the First Day when the Cobblestone first oppend in 2012, We Used the Same 2 Seats and Table from that day (and reserved them) to celebrate our first meeting & Meal together as a Couple, and then our Wedding Anniversaries, Birthdays and Family Get Together as my? children grew and flew the nest, (A Family Resteraunt with Memories & Meaning). This year 26th July 2024 will be the first year we shall Miss our memorable tradition as a Maried Couple after 10 years. The whole Atmosphere is changing and not in our taste. (Can I Clarify that we were Never Offered or given the Option of the Waitress / Table Service Area ? We were only given the Noisy Family Area or No Table Service Area, (Bar Service Area & Pet Table Area near the Pool Tables). So, Being Constructive can I pose a Question, if you turn up early and you haven't Reserved a Table, your sent to a "No Table service Area" REGARDLESS ? Despite being a Valuable Customer. However if some one turns up who reserved a table, they call in the Part Time Waitesses and open up the Waitresses Resteraunt area? So, if you then turn up then without a reserved table - you Could automatically get Waitressed Table Service if there is a Free Table Because there are Enough Staff to Cope with Serving You ? One week you get Table Service and the Next You Don't? " I thought all customers were Valuable and deserved good customer service. We enjoyed the Table service banter, Its called "MEET AND GREET, Give the Customer a Good Happy Cheerful Pleasurable Experience and the Reason Why they will return as a Regular Customer ? So, how Practicaly how does the "No Table Service work", One designated area for a low attendance of Customers when staff are Scratching with nothing to do. So you Order your initial Drinks and/or food at the Bar (unsure if you pay in advance or at the End of the Meal)? Or order and Pay on your mobile phone App like we did during the covid pandemic. Then the Waitress ? Brings over your Drinks , then the Waitress brings over your plates of food to the table. ERRR? I thought there was no Table Service ????? We Didn't Stay for Deserts and wasn't even asked if we wanted anything else. YES, you can see why some customer Reviews Mention Bad Customer / Table Service, Customers are Confused. Wouldnt it be Less Confusing if all Customers Dont have their Initial Orders Taken at Any of the Tables, and only at the Bar or on the Mobile Phone App and Paid for there and then. After Recieving your Meal the staff ask "is everything OK, is there anything else you would like" at this point you can order extra Drinks or Deserts etc with out Leaving your Table, and the Staff will present you with the Card Reader at your Table to Pay and then put your Order through for deserts etc. Or use the Mobile Phone app. This Treats Every Customer Equally the Same, you can't have some Customers Watching the Privilaged Table Service Area with priority Waitressing Staff taking their First Orders because they Reserved a Table in the Table Service Area. (The only bussiness benefit of less Waitresses I can see, is less £££) Please look down at "Daniel Usherwoods" Review, 24/7/24. "Sent through to No Table Service Area" ? WHY ? Coincides with Lack of Waitresses during a low period ? The cobblestone admits any Service can be taken away from the Non Table Service Bar Area if needed and Prioratised for the Table Service Area. Its OK if your Young and Mobile Phone Savvy, Older People may Struggle to adjust or find 1st and 2nd Class Service off putting. if you are a Priority party booking who reserved tables you recieve priority service as your spending more money? I suppose as Marstons have sold off their share of Brewing, to Carlsberg, the share holders need more Productivity ££ out of their Pubs. Congratulations to your new manager Mr Jobs Worth, who came up with this new idea.

Although it was very busy. The young waitress was extremely polite and friendly and is a credit to the company.

Came in for meal with my family for my birthday, we all had starters and mains and I had I dessert, all food was delicious and enjoyed by all, service was prompt and friendly we was served by Kayleigh and Ryan and we felt well looked after while we was here. Would defo come again highly recommended.

Very disappointed, the family came here last Saturday and the visit was good , came today and the 2 roast dinners were very poor , 1 you could just eat but the Turkey was very dry , the other being chicken you couldn't eat at all . I had fish and chips which was ok , this was brought out on time , but if we hadn't waved the waiter we would never of got the roast dinners . They came out 20 minutes later , they did give us 40% off , but that not the point . Very poor all round , never used to be like that until it was taken over . It wasnt even busy that the thing that's annoying. Be a while before we return.

Fantastic service, delicious food as always, arrived quickly and nice and hot. Served by Ryan who was absolutely lovely, nothing was too much trouble for him, he went above and beyond.

Went in asked if we had booked we hadn't so was asked to sit in the bar area and order ourselves despite there clearly being plenty of space in the table service area We ordered from a very grumpy rude man who i assume was the duty manager The drinks and the food arrived by the grumpy and rude man the drinks and food was lovely though except the sausages....they never checked though like they do in most places so they wouldn't know. P.s the other staff member seemed lovely and the toilets was reasonable clean a broken lock on the door though.

I booked a table of 20 a few weeks in advance. On the day I popped by head in and staff couldn’t be more accommodating, particularly Ryan. He set up our table with a table runner to make it look nice for me. We had a fabulous evening and despite staff being super busy, they always checked to make sure we was all ok. Only feedback was that our meals didn’t all come out together so that’s something to consider for next time. Team Cookie from Avon will be back! Thank you to Ryan and staff :)

Lovely food and nice atmosphere.

I have been 4 times, as my mum lives nearby, and its dog friendly. It's usually been good. Service, food, all satisfactory. But on this occasion none of the staff (mostly of student age) were lacking in customer service experience. Both the barman and the waitress cam across as rude and unhappy to be there. The food was appalling, from the reconstituted chicken breast and chewy rump on the 2x Mixed Grills, to the massive lump of batter with almost no fish in it on the 2x Fish & Chips. Nobody brought cutlery and when I went to get it myself the waitress asked what I was doing at the cutlery station. Between the poor customer service and the poor food - that has definitely put us off coming again.

Excellent food and great service

We were seated very promptly, the table was not cleaned, there was salt all over and it was a bit sticky. Our waitress was polite, repeated our order back correctly. It took 30min to receive our main dishes, which were very tasty. One steak was slightly overcooked but noone came to ask how’s our food so we couldn’t report it. Garlic bread was a bit disappointed as we’ve got 3 slices of a garlic baguette for 3.50 which is a bit overpriced for the quality and quantity. In general we would come back for the 30% off offer and just have main courses.

Great food lovely place and great staff

I took my family for a meal today and was happily surprised to see Ryan back working there. He always goes above and beyond and by the time we left our faces hurt from smiling so much. Our food was lovely and came out quickly. The new menu is so much better. Even the fussy eater of our family was spoilt for choice. Defo recommend if only to see Ryan who will make you smile. :)

Havent been for a while due to bad experiences but that has all changed! The food was lovely. The atmosphere was great and will defo be back soon! Nothing was too much trouble for Ryan, our waiter, just brilliant service! Enjoyed it!

The staff were very friendly but sadly let down by poor food and drink. The food I chose this place for my wife and I The celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. We came here as I wanted the mixed grill which sadly was unavailable as sold out. So I had Hunters chicken instead. It was the smallest dinner I've had in years maybe they were from the kids menu. Also looked like it was dried out and fresh out of the microwave. My drink was an ale which I was told was a light ale, its taste was not nice it had a hint of vinegar so I returned it as it made me feel abit sick I had water instead. My wife didn't finish her dinner. All in all one of the poorest restaurants I've ever been to. I should have checked the reviews before going as they are mostly poor.

Upon arrival Ryan was extremely welcoming us with a smile and lovely sense of humour. His service and food made our dinner unforgettable and we are looking forward to comeback soon!

We were a party of 5 adults snd 2 child aged 4. We dined at the Cobblestones in March. I booked the day before on your website without any issue at all. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly waitress who seated us and took our drinks order. Our food was ordered and arrived within 20 minutes, and was piping hot, even though we slightly tweaked 2 orders. The serving staff were attentive without being intrusive and seemed really happy in their work; really nice to see🙂 A special mention has to go to the 3 pints of Pedigree my 74yr old ex pub landlord dad had. He said it was delicious and the temperature perfect. It was crystal clear too. So whoever cleans the pipes is doing a sterling job. We will most definitely be back, and soon!
