What a warm friendly welcome, the food was exceptional and the B&B was beautiful. There is a real homely feel and Jan and the staff couldn’t be more helpful, a real delight. Highly recommend it from breakfast to high tea!

The restaurant is closed presently due to lockdown, but I asked if they would bake a birthday cake for my mother's birthday (well 4 cakes in fact) to feed the residents and staff at my mother's care home. They baked and decorated 2 chocolate fudge cakes, and 2 Victoria sponge cakes and I have to say I was delighted. All the cakes were fabulous, light and fluffy and very professional, but at the same time retaining all the charm of home made cakes. Feedback from all those who tried them was universally positive and I can highly recommend that you try this service. They even rang me the day before collection to confirm that the order would be ready for collection the next day. Great value too!

A lunchtime visit here was very good. Cosy, traditional and casual. Cooked meals were tasty, I has beef lasagne which came with chips and salad, with a dressing for the salad and a pot of tea, all very nice. My companion had chilli con carne with rice and that came with tortilla chips and mayo. Good value and large portions. Restaurant is in a little backwater, behind the church, very pleasant.

Visited family in the area and tried to go for coffee here. Was met abruptly with a comment of "oh no this isn't going to work" and when questioned we were told that they were expecting people who had reserved tables. However not all tables showed as reserved. So then she added rudely "well I suppose you can have this table, if any"I have never felt so unwelcome in any establishment. We were 2 sisters plus my son who already has anxiety about going in new places. We had 2 small dogs with us and they say they welcome dogs. There was no need for her rudeness and for her to be so unwelcome and abrupt. If she was concerned about being busy she could have said so and at least been polite about it. I can't tell you how disgusting and belittling she was. I am still very upset about it and my sons anxiety about new places has now been enhanced again. Oh and I wouldn't have even given 1 score but I had to do write the review

We chose to eat here as we could take our dog with us. My husband ordered one of the soups with a sandwich and as a vegetarian I ordered the cheese and tomato panini. My husband got his soup, a huge bowl with his cheese and ham sandwiches and then my panini arrived. Sadly it was cheese and ham so it was taken back into the kitchen. I was a little concerned as I wondered if the new panini would just be put back on the same plate. So the new panini arrived very quickly there was so much cheese I needed to use a knife and fork to eat it. I had eaten half of it when I suddenly noticed pieces of ham in the melted cheese! I was obviously very surprised. The panini was not new but the chef had opened the original one done in error, removed or tried to remove the ham and added some tomatoes. To say I was upset is probably an understatement. Even if I was not a vegetarian I would not expect to have food cooked in error, dismantled and recycled. The chef passed on an apology and I was not charged for my food. The tea room was obviously popular with local residents and the cake was lovely but our meal was spoiled by something which should never happen

We had a choice, Go to Costa Coffee or the local independent cafe.So we entered this small, messy cafe and the smell of the deep fat fryer should have made us turn around. It didn’t.So In we went and ordered a couple of lattes and toasted tea cake. The tea cake had not seen much of the toaster but it was tasty and quite edible. The lattes though were the worst we have ever tasted. It can’t be that they had been made with coffee. Absolutely appalling. The pleasant waitress changed them for a pot of tea, this was also anything but a tasty flavoursome hot drink. We will visit independent cafes again, in preference to the chains, but hopefully it can’t ever be as bad as this.

This delightful, comfy, cosy little cafe is peacefully situated in the cobbled street behind the church. They're open 7 days a week and everything is home-made and freshly cooked. While we were there they were catering for a range of clientele from ladies having morning coffee to workmen enjoying the excellent 11-piece breakfast for £6.25.The menu is fairly traditional, ranging from paninis to British favourites, including home-made cakes and puddings (yum!). As for value: £2.90 for two good coffees!! Need I say more? I really hope they continue to thrive despite the advent of Costa Coffee across the road.

As residents of Holmes Chapel for almost ten years and after never being in The Cobbles and hearing some good reports we thought we would give it a try on a Saturday lunchtime. The place was very busy however the young waitress showed us to a table and left us to decide. The smell of cooking was immediately noticeable and I wouldn't normally complain however the air quality in the cafe was poor and in dire need of some fresh air or indeed and air conditioning unit. After five minutes I was having difficulty breathing so we made our excuses and left without ordering.Would love to give this place another try again at some point in the future as like I said at the beginning I have had some good reports.

Initially, my mother and I were traveling from Manchester to Nottingham and decided to stop by Holmes Chapel to see the famous W. Mandeville Bakery (where Harry Styles worked). After seeing the bakery, we saw this place right next door and decided to get a bite to eat. This place is one of the cutest places I ever walked in. It was in a little house and it had rooms upstairs to stay in. It had a small kitchen and some tables. It wasn't crowded because it was late in the afternoon but I can imagine that it would be during what would be more busy hours. I got some a basic breakfast with some bacon and eggs and what not, and I believe my mother got something seafood related, similar to crab cakes. I found the food to be very good and delicious. Our waitress was a younger school girl who was very good about everything. At the end I told her what a nice town Holmes Chapel and she told me a few things about the town, which was nice. In the end, I will come back to this place, should I ever end up taking my sister to Holmes Chapel to see the bakery.

Another one with good reviews that baffle me! Bacon and mushroom omelette was my order, what I actually got was a pile of undercooked scrambled egg with a separate couple of rashers of bacon with mushrooms hidden underneath, Thats NOT an omelette! It was about 6 years since we had been here and nothing had improved. The waitress was very young which is not a problem if she has received training but her communication skills and guidance were sadly lacking, at least she looked the part in her smart black outfit unlike the other female staff, should you really be taking orders in a tearoom wearing scruffy clothes and trainers? The little courtyard looks pretty on the website and I realise it is more of a summer thing but its still in full view of customers so does it need to look such a mess in the winter? I can't remember the rest of our order which tells you everything you need to know.

My cousin and his wife recently stayed over for the night at The Cobbles. They had a lovely spacious room full of character; not surprising as this is one of the oldest buildings in Holmes Chapel. They said that they got a very warm welcome and the owners were very helpful and friendly. They also enjoyed a plentiful well-cooked breakfast. An excellent location as well as we could walk over to The George for a meal and enjoy a glass or two whilst we were there! Thank you

Places as good as this are hard to find. Warm friendly service, excellent food in a cosy home from home cafe plus great value money. I found this cafe rated no 1 in Holmes Chapel on trip advisor and I'm really pleased I did. The menu offers a good choice covering both breakfast and lunch times. Nothing on the menu seemed to be to expensive with prices ranging from £3-£7. Pot of tea £1.25. What could be better.

My wife and I popped in for lunch and were greeted by the cheerful and friendly waitress who showed us to a table. It was good to see a busy restaurant oozing with friendly atmosphere. I had a gammon steak and my wife chose the lasagne - both meals were excellent. The menu described the portions as generous and it wasn't wrong! For the quaility of the food, the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Tucked away behind the church in the middle of a quaint row of cottages, the Cobbles Tearooms is one of the pleasures of living in Holmes Chapel, and one that has become a regular treat.Food is plentiful and very reasonably priced, with a varied menu and daily specials. Most recently, I had a delicious lamb shank and buttery mash in a rich wine gravy that would easily hold its own against any restaurant but everything from soup to omelettes to the extremely filling hot chicken, bacon and onion salad can be recommended, not to mention the all day breakfast. The only downside is that I'm too full after my main course to try one of the desserts or home made cakes; they do offer a take out service for cakes though! The atmosphere in the tearoom is relaxed and friendly; I almost always end up in conversation with other customers, not to mention the lovely staff.A big thanks to front of house ladies Cath and Tizz, and to Joan and Jan cooking amazing food. You all make each visit a real pleasure.

We went to the Cobbles a number of times whilst staying with family in Holmes Chapel in August. The layout is lovely, a very welcoming and relaxing venue. We went for breakfast and a couple of light lunches during our time in the village. All the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We had a few requests for a slight variation on the breakfasts and they were cooked to perfection. All the meals we had were excellent and the home made soup is highly recommended.I also called in a few times to buy their home made scones, which are the best we have ever had. We were always very well looked after but I must say a particular thank you to Cath, as when I walked through the door, she knew exactly what I had come for! We are looking forward to visiting again on our next trip.

I regularly go to the Cobbles, I have never had a meal but half a dozen friends meet up most Fridays after our Zumba session. The coffee, hot chocolate and home cooked scones, cakes, etc., are second to none. The staff are really so friendly you would think they were family and the owners are always on hand to pass the time of day or answer any query regarding their B & B facility. I would recommend this establishment and actually already have to my elderly uncle and his partner who came over from Florida and spent 3 very comfortable days there and also a friend with her partner who rated the B and B facilities as second to none.

Great food! Nice beer. Hope that it continues and becomes as popular as the Leppard.

Always a delight to have breakfast here. Proper full breakfast cooked and served to perfection by Holly and Gemma. There's nothing here to complain about at all. Always a warm welcome, and just a pleasure to make time here for a proper breakfast. What more can I say?

We used to regularly walk to Miola for a coffee and can’t believe how it has changed. Outside is a complete dump with tatty pieces of furniture up for sale at ridiculous prices . The elephant and giraffe which have been there for years are still for sale at a ridiculous price. Toilet was filthy with no toilet paper. Chose to sit outside as had children with us and tables were tatty and dirty. The food was overpriced and mediocre. Bacon sandwich with virtually no bacon. Peanut butter on toast which was slimy and greasy. Children took one look and didn’t touch it and can’t say I blamed them. It is so sad as Miola used to be such a lovely place to go to. Can only assume that with Holmes Chapel closing its on the cards that Sandbach will close as well. So disappointing and what a waste of money !
