After driving 6+ hours from Newcastle, we checked in successfully, only to be told literally 20 minutes later we had to leave, and our room had previously been cancelled and refunded due to a bathroom problem. We contacted Expedia who we booked it through, and they had heard no such thing from the place, and we had received no email or refund. They literally just cancelled it after we arrived. They magically had no free rooms available anymore, even though the so-called “manager” showed us around the room and said there's free rooms upstairs. So we ended up having to get another hotel 40 minutes away, with no help from this place whatsoever. They basically just kicked us out. Apparently someone was coming to sort the bathroom the next day, but they somehow forgot they booked our room out, even though the manager was the one that showed us around the problem room and successfully checked us in. Strange, that. When waiting at the bar for answers, we were told the manager was “busy” and the woman at the bar kept going in and talking to him, telling him what we were saying, all while he would not come out to talk to us himself because “he was busy talking on the phone with his wife about something” But hey, at least we got a half-hearted apology from the woman behind the bar on our way out. Pathetic place and pathetic service/communication.

A lovely venue, seems to be family run. Staff and owners were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Rooms were well appointed, clean, well stocked tea and coffee. En-suite toilet and shower clean. Rooms appeared recently decorated. Large function room and large children friendly garden.

We've been frequent visitors for a good few months and are rarely disappointed, called in today (11/11/19) for lunch, food took a bit of time to arrive considering it was quite quiet but well worth it, I had a Chicken Tikka Sandwich with salad, very tasty and filling and probably 2" thick!!! The service is outstanding, really lovely staff and such a lovely Pub.

Booked a table for a Sunday Lunch with my Mum yesterday, great service from a young Lady, we both opted for the Lamb, served quickly with a great choice of veg, Yorkys (yeah!) roasters and a large gravy boat, really tasty food in a 'proper' Pub, faultless.

Lovely friendly pub with nice pub food, but old fashioned but has charm. The play area is great for kids, plenty to keep them entertained. Highly recommended for a a beer in the sun.

Last minute decision to eat out paid off, lovely well cooked lunch with fresh vegetables and not an auntie bessies in sight - home made Yorkshire pudding, tasty gravy and lovely home made desserts. A tad rowdy with children as the restaurant is quite small and it's a family pub. A good home cooked meal at a reasonable price, very enjoyable.

We came here as we were visiting the frankly fantastic winter's end rock festival and needed to stay nearby. Our first impressions were not great as the room had a few issues that we felt should have been dealt with, for example we had a window that would not close, this rendered the room cold. Also there was no shower gel ..... Not crime of the century but you expect certain things to be present. As the inn is a listed building we appreciated that certain issues were likely to arise however the response to our issues was swift and effective. The room itself was a good size with a phenomenally comfortable bed and despite being above an inn we had three fantastic nights sleep. The main reason we score this place so highly is the manager who did absolutely everything in his power to help us out. When we reported the broken window he arranged a carpenter to come and fix it and gave us a drink in the bar for our trouble. When the cleaner left a key in our door lock meaning all our belongings were vulnerable he again tried to make amends. Our breakfasts were delicious and we were very happy with the response to all our issues. The inn is comfortable, well situated and remarkably quiet in comparison with the other inns at the bottom of town so we were able to have the best of both worlds, access to facilities as well as privacy and quiet when needed. We will be returning to this festival in the future and will definitely try to stay here again.

It is always nice to visit this pub you are always made most welcome and in the five years I have been dining there I have never yet had a bad meal. Tonight myself and two friends ordered the beer battered Cod and Chips the plate was absolutely full and the meal itself was absolutely delicious. They also have an out of doors kids play garden for the warmers months. All in all a fantastic family pub

Although quite quiet, the welcome and the temperature were warm. The food (prawn cocktails, roast dinners and velvet cheesecake) were all good and there were gluten free options, and they didn't mind taking the marie rose sauce off the prawns! so very flexible, very friendly service, quick and the price was reasonable. Main courses were served on hot plates. Would recommend.

I liked the restaurant very much due to the different takes on food. For example, they had minted peas! They’re mash was very dry though and a bit hard to swallow but I would eat here again and recommend it to others

We had the 2 for £12 lunchtime deal. The menu stated Steak and Ale Pie but it when it arrived it was actually Steak and Kidney. The pie was OK but the portions a little small. We also had faggots which were tasty. Overall an OK lunch. I would return.

The Coach and Horses in Caerwent offers a Pensioners' Menu at lunch time so we met a few really interesting people there. The Inn is right in the village close to the Church and Roman Wall. The Fish and Chips was good and the Welsh Faggots and Peas as good as any I remember from childhood. Service was prompt and really friendly. Definitely the place to eat when you visit Roman Town.

This pub served excellent real ales, and very good pub food at a very cheap prices. If you eat lunchtime or early evening - 2 meals for £10 and very well cooked, home made and substantial. The service is also very good for an operation of this kind. Highly recommended for good, no-nonsense pub grub!

We only stopped for a cup of coffee at an establishment that calls itself a pub and coffee house! The cappuccino was small, served in a chipped enamel beaker and too strong. I assume it was just made by an automated machine. However to top it all we were charge £4 each. Probably the most expensive coffee I have had and one of the worst. Should not be allowed.
