Just gotten home from another brilliant night out. Half term and the family requested visiting the pub again as they enjoyed it so much last summer. The place is undergoing a face-lift and is really looking much more modern and welcoming. I can't wait to see the finished product. Again we really enjoyed the food in particular the scampi, ribs and the desserts were delicious. The staff were welcoming and accommodating to our requests my only criticism which is so minor, would be maybe some coleslaw on the plates. I also think some pics of the food and the pub should go on their Facebook page to show their amazing efforts in bringing this local pub back to life.

Lived in the area for a long time and seen many landlords have a go at making this roadside inn profitable. If this guy does not turn it around I will eat my hat... the welcome is sincere and friendly. He brews his own beer cider and lager, the Kim Yung ale we had was on point and flavourful. Good price as well.. very good price... the loaded fries were delicious freshly made and all in all a great couple of hours.

We used the take away delivery service. When the food arrived it was luke warm, the chips were very over cooked to the point that the majority of them were inedible and they were horrible frozen chips rather than homemade. The chicken goujons tasted like cheap frozen ones and the beer battered onion rings were awful, they were also frozen and not homemade. The whole meal was over cooked and not nice. Will not be using the takeaway delivery service again

Myself and my husband called into the pub after our car had broken down on our way home to Northamptonshire. Our car was expected to be fixed until that evening so we took the opportunity to have lunch whilst we could and it didn’t disappoint! The staff here were amazing! They made us feel so welcome, allowing us hold up in the pub until we could get back on the road; even checking to make sure we had charges etc for our phones. A real friendly environment to have been in

With two picky kids visiting for the summer holidays both wanting something completely different, we weren't sure where to go. I had recently heard that the pub had reopened to new owners so we thought we would give it a go. Very friendly welcome and even though there was a wedding going on in the function room we were easily accommodated in the bar area. Food was delicious and filling and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner Luke even came over and showed the kids a new game to keep them entertained, Which we all loved. The owners young daughter even came over and made friends.

Visited Sunday 31st July as a family of 7 adults and 1 child. Staff very friendly ( I pre booked table by phone the previous day) Slightly disappointed to find no turkey as an option…..only beef and pork which not everyone likes including my son…..I wanted a vegetarian carvery ( didn’t want the veggie sausage option either) and do think a meatless option should be available at a slightly reduced price. Rest of the family got beef which they said was lovely. Roasties looked frozen but were homemade and tasted fab. Not a great deal of choice for veg, peas and carrots and red cabbage…..disappointed to see brocolli and sprouts brought out after we were finished. Carvery reasonably priced at £10.95 a head, pensioners was cheaper and was infact actually the same size as the rest 😀 Desserts looked nice but unfortunately we didn’t get to try as our grandson wanted to leave ( it started to get busy as we were finishing, he has autism and doesn’t like noise) I would recommend if in the area

Went today for a carvery, they were very welcoming to my dad in his wheelchair and the rest of the family. They made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in, having laughs, smiles and giggles all the way. It was nice because my dad felt included with everything to do with the day. I would suggest the place to anyone with a disability or normal families as they are just fantastic. The carvery well it was fantastic and the food was well presented. We were given so much choice today on meat and vegetables there is something for everyone even those who are not veg fans. The desserts were brought out like they were from a fine dining restaurant and they wowed us all , even they surprised my older son with a ice cream sundae that wasn’t on the menu. We would love thank all the staff for their hospitality and friendly ness towards us. Go visit this place they are just amazing Thanku

We were a party of four, we ordered our meals which arrived an hour and forty minutes later, two of the meals arrived first and had been eaten before the other two arrived. I had beer battered fish and chips, the fish resembled a battered kipper with a mix of burnt chips, the tartar sauce and lemon slice was missing and the food was cold. The pub has been nicely refurbished and there is a large beer garden, the staff are friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced. We wanted to support them being local but we were very disappointed, going on my experience I wouldn't recommend the food.

Visited today for Sunday Lunch, the first time in approx 2yrs.First impressions were very good, the new landlords have really smartened this place up.The restaurant has been decorated with new curtains etc, which was most welcoming. The carvery consisted of a choice of Lamb, Turkey or Beef.We choose the lamb, which was accompanied by yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets and stuffing. A choice of several veg, gravy and sauces. The lamb was very tender and tasty and plenty of it. Both turkey and beef looked tender too.Although we were both full, we were tempted by a dessert, which was homemade and delicious. This must be one of the most reasonably priced Sunday Dinner's in the area. Well worth a try.We wish the new landlords every possible success.

OK maybe we are snobs. But we thought this place looked a bit tatty and run down from outside but were desperate and thought we would give it a go.It looks to attract Bikers, but there was a mixture of everyone when we went in.It looked like a throwback from the old pubs of the 1970's but the menu on the wall was amazing.it had everything you could ever imagine from shark steaks to tuna steaks to good old gammon to cottage pie.we ordered and were taken through to the dining room which looked very nice, clean and nicely decorated but the tables were 6 inches away from each other. no naughty conversations or riske comments or the people next door would hear.we asked to be moved to a corner and I told the waitress we had some juicy titbits to discuss ! she looked shocked and I said we were only joking. once we had moved to a bigger table in the corner it was better and we able to discuss the latest love triangle my friend was involved in without offending the two elderly ladies sitting close to us.the meal was great, really great.good honest pub grub.2 fantastic steak pies and veg and a good pudding. No complaints whatsoever, and my husband had a good pint of real ale.A very good experience, dirt cheap and we would go back. I have been coming to this pub for many years due to it being host to our motorcycle club the wolds bikers. When sandy and Richard owned it you could not fault it in any way at all, however it has now changed hands and the landlord is the rudest, most arrogant person I have ever met and his attitude is disgusting just like the beer. 3 of us purchased drinks all were asked for ID including people in their 30's the best bit was one of our party was ID'd for a soft drink! We managed to tolerate a 1/4 of a pint of beer before having to pour it away. We attended the charity bike night and were busy spending our money to help raise money for a local charity L.I.V.E.S so 2 of our party had spent up on the attractions at the bike night. When the rest of our party went to the bar for our (disgusting) drinks the other 2 accompanied us and were chatting whilst the drinks were ordered, the landlord who was already disgusted by my partner asking for a bit more lime in her lime and soda water turned to the 2 who weren't drinking and said "if you're not drinking get out", a little surprised we all looked at each other thinking he was joking until he went on to say "go on this is not a youth club" (they were both 18) "don't stand there looking pretty enjoying my heating get out if you aren't spending money" (I still don't understand the heating comment it was 20 degrees outside) looking a little confused and trying to explain its a social evening/bike night as we started to walk out and we had spent our money outside he continued to give us attitude as he ejected us from the pub simply because 2 of our party weren't drinking. Both of the people who were spoken to like rubbish took to the coach and horses facebook page to thank them for a good night but said they were upset by the landlords attitude only then to be told to "grow up, grow some hair on their chins and go get some pocket money for drinks" it seems to me the landlord is the one who needs to grow up. The pub is as unwelcoming as the landlord, there was a terrible smell of chlorine which matched that of a swimming pool. What the landlord doesn't know is I have been going to that pub longer than he has, I have been a wolds biker for a decade and now thanks to the new owners I am cutting my ties and leaving, I will not attend a pub where we are spoken to like dirt and abused on facebook by the landlord, never have I felt so insulted or unwelcome as I did at the coach and horses in billinghay, steer well clear.

I had been for meals at this pub previously, and having heard it had changed hands, I thought I would try again. That was a waste of time. I tried ringing to check what time lunches would be served, and after some 12 calls over 2 days, and only getting a recorded message, I almost gave up. But, as I was in the area a day or 2 later, I decided to call in, at 12 noon on Tuesday. There were no cars at all in the car park, and the notice board at road side, made it clear that the kitchen is closed more than it is open, so I went on my way, and I won't be bothering again. I'm sure there are other establishments nearby, who will be happy to take my money.

We went for a family meal here. There were six of us and the food was freshly prepared, home made and very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The service was very efficient. The diding room was pleasant. However, my aunt, who has a terminal illness walked in on her frame and would have required the disabled toilet which was close to where we dined. I used this and found there are no signs warning people of the slope and there is not a bar to hold onto. The toilet itself was clean but the room needed a good clean and a bit of a decor.Other than this, very pleasant.

I dined at the coach and horses for the first time the other day after a friend recommended it. I initially read the reviews and was unsure but as it's local I thought I'd give it a go. Best thing I could've done! As it was a week day it was relatively quiet so service was surprisingly fast waited about 15 minutes for a gourmet burger for myself and haddock and chips for my friend. The portions were absolutely huge! A big oval plate and the food was almost over flowing. I was very impressed, great value for kidney! The quality was exceptional, whoever made those burgers deserves an award! Lol. Drink were nice too just right with the meals. All the staff were friendly, even kitchen staff carrying things to the cellar were very polite and looked happy to be there. Really quite baffled by the negative reviews. I dined at another pub paying double the amount and I got frozen chips and tasteless food. You can definitely tell the foods fresh here!

First I would like to say after reading the reviews myself and my husband gave it ago. I Found all staff to be lovely (do you really walk around all day with a smile on your face!!) and I asked the waitress about the tips, she showed me the tip jar which is sealed and opened once a month (so the landlord could not take tips out the jar!!) Food was lovely yes we had to wait but the food is fresh!! The landlord and lady were very nice, infact all staff where and I asked the barmaid about her age as it was said she wasnt old enough on here, well she is 28! I will be going back, all I can say is you have to make your own mind up I thought it was lovely but then I when for good old pub grub not a la carte........

We have eaten here on several occasions in the past when Richard and Sandy ran it. You always got a warm friendly welcome and a lovely meal. What a shock we had when we re-visited with the new tenants! There was a young girl behind the bar, who didn't look old enough to be serving drinks, and there didn't seem to be a responsible adult about. All the staff looked looked fed up and they didn't appear to be that busy ,but we still had to wait 45 minutes for some food. The food was ok but the choices were poor! We certainly won't be visiting again, unless the owners get someone new in

Food is really good portions generous and the Landlord and landlady very welcoming. Recommend a visit to this friendly pub and don't forget the food. The staff are all very friendly and happy. Cannot for the life of me believe that the person giving the negative comments below were in the same pub think they must have got it wrong!

Waited over an hour for food! We had a table of 5 all meals came out separately In dribs and drabs. The supposed landlady did not even speak to us!!! Completely ignored us, the rudeness was unbelievable!!!! The waitresses were working very hard I would say over worked. While the landlords stood and dossed around!!! I gave a tip for the waitress at the end of the evening and as I finished my drink I saw the landlord taking money out of the tip jar and putting it into his pocket! Steeling from his own staff!!!!!!!

Stopped here to eat with a group of friends as it had been recommended to me. However, we were somewhat dismayed and concerned when we realised that the place had changed hands and the new owners had only been there a few days.Siting in the bar we listened to the comments of the other customers as the paid and left. All were signing the praises of the food, so we decided to eat there. Our earlier fears were totally unfounded and i can only echo the comments of the customers that we had listened to. The food was lovely, the owners interacted well with the customers and were happy to add to any banter. After we had eaten the place quitened down and the owners found time to come and chat with us. We all agreed that when we are next in the area we will ensure we eat there.

Busy cafe with tasty looking food. We both had coffees. The cappuccino had rather too much foam for me but it was well made.

A wonderful lunch! Lovely menu with a wide choice. My husband chose Gammon Egg and Chips and I chose Beef Lasagna and chips. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunches. The beef lasagna was one of the nicest I've eaten. We had no room for dessert but the cake selection did look delicious. It's a shame we don't live closer as this cafe would be a favourite.

Sep 2024 An early XMAS shopping spree, many delightful and original Christmas trinkets were bought. Very helpful staff, makes a huge difference. The coffee shop (Spires) is still as good as it always was; tea bags used here are top quality (so good, we bought some of our own). Staff here also very friendly and helpful. May 2024 Update: another visit, another Full English, still excellent quality. Also bought some veggie plants (buy 4 for a discount) and grow-bags (Tomorite bag more expensive but bigger than the yellow Levington smaller one, we bought one of each to compare), fingers crossed. Prices are not too bad. Amazing selection of everything you might reasonably expect from a high quality garden centre. Also, the restaurant was excellent too, the Full English was very good.
