The Club Lounge & Bar in Cheshire East

Had a wonderful meal in the club lounge, George was very professional and polite, I had the lamb which was delicious 🤤, was a bit noisy with all the golf members, but overall had a lovely evening , nothing was too much trouble.

Returning after a few years of not having visited, it’s a lovely hotel that we will return to again. Delicious food and drinks, only surpassed by the excellent service from Sue which was first class throughout the evening. We had the double cheeseburger and the buttermilk chicken burger, both were first class. The sundae dessert was generous to say the least, and also was amazing and indulgent in equal proportions. Looking forward to returning already!

I recently came back for a stay over. The mere as a whole is a little bit over rated but its still 5* and worth going to. The staff is the best bit! I had breakfast in browns where pam served me with another gent. Then met a colleague in the club lounge where i was seated by a you g gent called george. He really knew his beers! Becky the manager helped to make our stay perfect and i would recommend issy behind the bar for making all your coffees and another lady called henna who i had a lovely conversation with. I would recommend that you go especially for the coffee and the staff!

Lovely food good service great views by the window no reservation and we were made to feel very welcome. I also note dog friendly which is a plus for me we will be back.

Had a great afternoon. Very polite professional staff. Becky the manager was very warm welcoming. I questioned Becky about the Menu due to myself having allergies and she did a great job explaining the menu. My starters, main and dessert were well presented and cooked very well. The staff behind the bar, waiters and waitresses were very friendly and always had a smile on their face which brightened the room. Like to say thank you to Ali, George and Issy for the exceptional level of service.

Very poor service. Rather unclean not what one would expect from the website. Lots of the room amenities damaged / not working and staff pay little attention to resolving. If you are looking for a working weekend then a great spot to dabble in DIY, however a relaxing weekend you may wish to look elsewhere.

We enjoyed a drink and some bar food in the bar, the food was very tasty and value for money, the service was very good and the staff was very polite and helpful. In particular Becky Moore was very professional and friendly and made us feel comfortable, she was very attentive to our needs and was very customer focused, I would certainly recommend you visit the bar and you will receive the same excellent service that we received over the two days we were there.

The restaurant Manage, Colin Barlow, could not have been more helpful as I emailed him on numerous occasions to organise the event. On the day, he and his staff had pulled out all the stops and everything was there I had asked for and more. We had a lovely time in very convivial surroundings and the Sunday Roast in Browns Restaurant is awesome. If Colin was away dealing with other guests, Mark made sure we lacked for nothing. We were very well looked after and really had a wonderful time. Thank you all for helping to make my husband's special day so memorable.

Visited end of July for anniversary, hotel absolutely fantastic along with service at reception.... However... We encountered possibly some of the worst service we have ever received when trying to enjoy some casual food and drink in their club lounge and bar, we had reserved a table however on arrival we found that they had 'lost' our reservation leaving us to find our own table.We rang the service call bell 4 times in 30 minutes but to no avail. We had to go to the bar to order our drinks and then again to order food, in 45 minutes nobody approached our table, we ordered a bottle of wine and were told it would be delivered to our table, after 25 minutes we had to go to bar to collect ourselves as nobody arrived with the wine despite the promise of staff. Despite spending over 90 minutes in the bar we only enjoyed 2 drinks due to the length of time waiting for service. There was a table outside that seemed to have all of the staffs attention. We got the impression this table was of high importance to the lounge. This unfortunately placed everyone else in the lounge at the bottom of any of the staffs priority. Staff happy to help golfers with clubs coming in out of the rain. A real sense that this place is all corporate with no care for the general public enjoying what could be a fantastic place. Couple opposite us waited 20 minutes with no service, eventually walking out. Passed on our feedback to resort with a generic reply of 'we will pass the feedback on' unfortunately judging by our visit, the venue is just another falling into that generic golf/country club resort who fall at the knees of the biggest corporation offering the most money. If this is what you're after then their are plenty of this type of resort popping up all over the country in the last 10 years for you to choose from, this one is just like the rest. Spend your hard earned money somewhere catered for the regular person. Highly disappointed.

Cuando finalmente lo cogí una mesa, mi tarjeta de débito estaba muy rápidamente para comenzar una ficha (este era el único eficiente parte de la experiencia) tienen una cantidad ridícula de alta tecnología artilugios que francamente no mejoran la experiencia del cliente. Tabletas de ordenador para menús y botones para el servicio (que no funcionaba). Pedimos un té verde y agua de soda con cal. Tardó 20 minutos para las bebidas. La espera era tan mala que no casi salir en este punto especialmente mientras el personal y "trajes innumerables" eran simplemente alrededor y literalmente no hacer nada. No conseguir la atención de un pesebre supervisor/a ver si me registro para nuestras bebidas luego caminamos a la derecha al salir de la habitación, y ni siquiera ir al bar para comprobar en ellos. La comida llegó que no sirve hamburguesas con el más barato descripto bollos de pan. Para ser justos a los chefs no creo haberme satisfecho como yo quería comer y salir de allí. Cuando terminamos la comida que pedimos la factura. Tras otra espera una factura por más de cien libras llegamos! Tuve que esperar a recibir la atención de los empleados se desplazan para conseguir factura correcta. El camarero entonces tomó mi tarjeta de débito en un viaje alrededor del bar y las habitaciones en la parte trasera, para finalmente aparecer de nuevo con otra cuenta de £70 que claramente 4 abarca y no dos. Y tuve que decirle al camarero lo que teníamos para comer y finalmente a pagar! Una vez que pagué yo pedí hablar con el director y el camarero al instante respondió "es debido a la mala atención?" hablé con el director y explicó nuestra experiencia y eran una muy buena escucha e incluso fue tan lejos como mi tarjeta y datos de contacto y dijo que alguien se contacte conmigo en los próximos días para informar cómo iban a mejorar el servicio. Este es impresionar y sentí que me había sido realmente escuchada. ¿adivina qué? Ha pasado un mes y no de la mera contacto que es vergonzoso en mi opinión sólo. Yo estaría tan enojado si yo era miembro del club allí y sinceramente creo que necesitan invertir en algunas de gestión y capacitación de personal en vez de tecnología una tontería. El bar de los miembros en la mera esta noche no era impresionante. Pésimo servicio y nuevo personal no parecen tener ni idea de qué hacer. Pedimos tanto a té y teacake llegó 20 minutos después de las bebidas. Sólo teacake en el plato, no mantequilla o mermelada, a teacake. El exterior estaba sucia con una bolsa de plástico cerca de la puerta y varias colillas de cigarrillos en el suelo. Me alucina cómo este sitio puede ser clasificado como un hotel 4 estrellas como se merece la clasificación. Doble sobre personal es excepcional y no me sorprende. Ciertamente saben cómo cobrar ninguna disculpa por nuestra grave el servicio. Como dos niños mujeres simplemente invisible e ignorado y pagamos £9.50 para la experiencia!

Lovely bar with great views over the golf course and the lake. The outside seating is great in the nice weather. Great service and friendly staff. Entertainment was provided the evening we were there, which was great.

Nos quedamos con ganas de relajarse después de un duro día de trabajo, pero nos quedamos muy decepcionados por la noche en el bar del club. Pedí un club hamburguesa y mi marido pidió una ensalada de caballa. Después de un largo media hora mi marido fue dado de pescado y patatas fritas y me dieron un seco y sobre burger cocinados. El pescado y las patatas fritas eran reemplazados por la más pequeña, ensalada bowl tamaño cuestan alrededor de 10 libras. La hamburguesa era insípida y tenía una capa de queso correoso. Las patatas fritas (que no necesita) eran el único remotamente agradable comida en el plato. La "pila" era 3 rebanadas ensalada de tomate y esponjosa de un par de bits de perritos lechuga pegadas con un palo de cóctel.

I have dined here on a couple of occasions and find the quality of food to be quite good. I have had the cajun chicken salad (highly recommended) and the pizza (rather small so don't order if very hungry). The restaurant overlooks the lake and provides good views in the summer.

waited 2 hours for a pizza and club sandwich when we asked if the kitchen was busy the reply was "no why have you ordered food" said we couldn't wait any longer when they promised a further 15 minutes decided to stay, they offered us a complimentary coffee whilst we were half way through our bottle of wine - so declined, asked again after a further 30 minutes then we finally got served, my hubby asked for a double espresso and 2 black americano's arrived I explained the request was a double espresso then was told ah well we can have one each…..(disgraceful !!!!) then we requested the bill and got 2 bills and were charged for both coffees, we are members of the gym so when you are paying in excess of £2,000 a year you expect quality….

Im sure its no reflection on the rest of the hotel and spa but the staff at the bar were very pushy. The yound lady behind the bar was very nice, the team on the floor however were terrible. Our group were asked if we would sit down and we were ushered around the back away from the bar and view. None of us were in the mood to sit down so we all returned. This obviously put the staff out. They attempted a few more times to sit us down until one of our party had to tell them that those of us who would like to sit down will sit down, and the others who choose to stand will stand. Very odd that was a first for me.

Great location to sit outside and overlook the golf course. Fish and chips were good but the worst chicken caeser salad in a very long time.

We came here for my daughter in laws 30th , there were 10 ladies ,we had such an amazing time , we all had treatments which were amazing and afternoon tea .The treatments were very relaxing and all the ladies enjoyed themselves ,was amazed how they got us in within the time frame.Staff were very good and attentive, my daughter is pregnant so they made sure she still could have a treatment .We relaxed after in the pool and then went for afternoon tea, was really nice but thought the scones were very crumbly and would have like one nice size rather the two very small ones .The staff were really good all in all a fab day would recommend this to anyone who wanted a chilled out day .

We ate here when staying the night in the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was very well presented and good quality. We did not wait too long for any of our courses and staff checked to ensure everything was OK. Menu is reasonably extensive and one of us ate the daily special - in our case chicken and leek pie and it was very good.

We went to Brown's Bar at the Mere to celebrate our wedding anniversary, while the meal was fantastic the service left a little to be desired. Everyone was served breads to start - we weren't - we also had to fill our own wine glasses & we had finished our bottle of wine before the main meal arrived.

My partner and I were incredibly offended by the staff at the golf club bar. We chose to drink their for it's outside area, however, upon arrival, when we asked for a drinks menu we were given looks of disgust by the waitresses who told us there was no such thing as such an exclusive bar. Despite this oddity, we decided to give the bar a chance so ordered some drinks, however, when the waitress came over with them, she also threw the bill at us. It might just be me, but isn't it usually custom for a customer to ask for the bill? Rather than the waitress deciding how many drinks you are to have. We noticed that none of the other customers were treated in such a disdainful manner, and we even overheard this same waitress ask another couple if they had a hotel tab. We too, had a hotel tab, but were not asked if we did, as we clearly didn't look like the types to have one.I was extremely upset by our treatment and burst into tears because I felt so unwelcome and judged so harshly. Just because I had just come from the spa and had casual clothes on, I believed the staff deemed us as beneath them, and not worthy of their time. Due to this hostile treatment, we hastily drank our overpriced drinks. But not before this same waitress had another opportunity to insult us. When my partherwent to pay the bill, she implied that his card wasn't working (probably because she thought we didn't have enough money) and proceeded to snatch the card machine from his hands repeatedly when she saw that it wasn't working. Eventually, she realised that this was because the card machine itself had broken, but obviously we didn't get an apology.We were utterly dismayed by the staff at the country club. They clearly judged my partner and I from the outset based on our appearance. What was particular upsetting was that the other customers in the club were being waited on hand and foot, and not one of them had been given their bill without asking. I just do not understand why the waitress did this when we were paying customers who deserve respect just as much as the next person.All in all, if you are visting the Mere, avoid the golf club's staff at all costs. Unless you're dressed in chinos and loafers, in which case you the staff may treat you more kindly just because you fit in.

Good choice of food, presented very well, although disappointed with my meal pie was very over cooked and tasteless, was given a full refund. My husbands steak burger was very good and he thoroughly enjoyed it the hand cooked chis were amazing.

Had a works Christmas party here in January in one of the function rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was OK. Drinks prices were very expensive and couldn't taste the vodka in my coke so a bit disappointed but the atmosphere in both the function rooms and the public bar areas worked well for a party and we had a really great evening.

OK,,,,where do I start from. I have been to this resort at least 20-30 times. Last year we went there for new year party.Everything usually perfect. delicious food, nice atmosphere, staff, location. I go there usually with my wife to get away from the city and enjoy relaxing lunch or dinner.I have not been there for the last three months may be, but today we went for lunch. I must say I was so humiliated and felt embraced when the waiter requested our credit card to bee kept in safe locker behind the bar before we order. The reason is because we are not members and we were not guests there.As a business traveler I have been to so many places around the world. No one ever asked like this!!!!! Hotel managers need to look at this policy again. Also is it legal for them to keep hold of my card while we there? Does their merchant payment provider know this? if a fraud commited on my card can they be responsible? Before judging customers, did u run CRB check for your staff so they are trustworthy to handle cards in these SAFE LOCKERS???? I feel we have been treated like thieves and hotel policy shows no respect what so ever.Even if thy had problem with non payers in the past, it is not an excuse to penalize every one else. why do not you have a notice on the door saying this? Good luck with this policy but I only see you loosing more customers. and I only stayed because I promised my wife a nice lunch out and did not want to ruin the day for her.

This is a sports bar connected to the hotel , but for all that you get laid tables waitress service with supper friendly staff who can't do enough for you!The food came out perfectly timed as we had two courses my main was fish chips just lovely with thin crispy batter .And i got to watch the football !!!!!!!!!!!

We had our works Christmas party here. The food was poor (incorrectly seasoned starter, dry main with a curious orange sauce that claimed to be red wine jus, overly sour desert). Service was poor (no table service for drinks at dinner!). Finally, the bar was overpriced (£5 for a substandard pint of lager). Surroundings were nice and the guy at the front door helpful, but I'm struggling to find any other positives. Won't be back.

Found the staff had a "could not care" attitude and the bar lacked any atmosphere. Did not bother to try a second time and went into Knutsford instead for a good night out.

After a great round of golf we retired to the club lounge for a well deserved dring and a meal. Totally refurbished with a stunning patio looking across the golf course and the mere to the stunning homes along the far side of the lake.Our drinks were fine, the Guiness drinkers said it was a good pint and everyone was happy. The food menu is two choices a set meal and an a la carte we went with the set meal and were totally satisfied with soups and spring roll starters, then for mains we had the smoked haddock risotto, cooked perfectly and one guy had the beef pie which he said was excellent.The plumb and date sticky toffee pudding smelt great on the table next to us, but we all resisted!!!After a day working hard on a course away from the office the the Club Lounge is a haven of excellence at a superb golf,spa and hotel resort.

We liked the atmosphere in here and the menu selection was extensive. All four of us had a different starter and they were all good. My husband and I each had the fish and chips for the main course and it was truly huge fish - really big! Our daughter had the duck wrap and her fiance had the mixed grill which was, again, a very large meal and he said it was delicious. We all had a lovely evening and would definitely choose to eat here again.

Eat in restuarant on friday night from set menu deal.We had 2 courses at cost of £26 per head. The food quality was very good, well presented,pleasant knowledgeable staff with piano player (very good) playing throughout the evening. Main courses of beef and cod really good and plentiful,but was slightly disapointed with starters, not the quality but the size.Restaurant is lovely with nice bar area but we are not sure whether the restaurant lighting is romantic or just dull. Overall would visit again with the food being the winner and pleasant staff.

Recently attended a wedidng do here. Looked nice from the outside.The dance floor was far too small to accommodate all the dancers, and the dj was set so loud apart from a small segment it was impossible to talk. The bar area looked grubby and was understaffed. The food for the evening do was mediocre. Im sure the charges didnt match this. The toilets were clean and overall, the place looked cared-for.
