Very nice proprietors and excellent waiter service, lovely food. Will definitely return when next in the mood for a nice curry!

Every now and again I go back to the clove in the hope that last time was just bad luck. It is consistently the worst Indian restaurant I have ever come across. I cannot understand how they stay open. I can't even be bothered to go into specifics because there isn't one single good thing about it.

What an unexpectedly nice thing this is. It doesn't look like much outside, but inside (1st floor) it is very atmospheric. Very friendly staff and delicious food. Recommended!

We had a delicious dinner here! The portions were large and so tasty- I had a korma which was very creamy and delicious. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was warm, appealing and felt fresh. Ataur was so considerate to us and made us feel very welcome. We will absolutely be coming back here; what a wonderful restaurant!

We arrived quite late and they were only doing takeaway but still offered to cater for us which was amazing. We ordered tandoori chicken and sag aloo. The chicken was tender and full of flavour, the sag aloo was brilliant. All in all, a superb experience.

Ordered Chix Byriani Veg Byriani and Dhal and some roti and naans. Food was poor quality, the dhal didnt even have lentils in it! We all ended up we bad tummy. Waste of money!!!

Been coming to the Clove for years, but recently they've had a do out and the food has improved massively. Cannot recommend this place enough, top quality food in a relaxed setting

Just ordered for takeaway, a Madras and a butter chicken from here with 2 naans. The naans were good and tasty, quite fresh but unfortunately the curries were very very poor. The butter chicken had a consistency of rice pudding - so thick, and hardly any chicken. The madras was incredibly spicy - maybe that’s how they do it here as standard but far more than any other madras I’d tried before. Hotter than vindaloos I have tried before. The lamb in the madras was so tough and chewy - tiny pieces and again hardly any meat. Such a shame and a complete waste of money will never go again. The man taking our order was super nice and friendly and the only good thing about this. We threw the curries in the bin after a few minutes of trying to eat them. Inedible.

Visited very early on a weekday evening so we were the only customers. This didn't matter though as the restaurant still had a nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly, waitress who served us was lovely and even gave my friend a free drink for her birthday. Food was delicious, would definitely revisit and definitely recommend

Me and my partner are regulars at this restaurant but never returning again after seeing mice run across the restaurant floor under another table!!! When reported to staff they were not shocked at all - obviously an ongoing issue for them! The staff then asked if we wanted to move table if I was “scared” in which I said I didn’t want to eat here anymore. Another couple also seen this happen and left also. I asked the staff upon leaving if they should be open with rodents running around the restaurant with customers eating - and they told me “it’s ok” People were still being seated when we were leaving

Absolutely diabolical. The Waiter was unfriendly. The food arrived. Although the sauces were good and the onion bhaji, the meat was horrible. The Lamb was dry as a bone and chewy. The Chicken, which I didn't think you could get wrong, was chewy and grisly. They clearly buy the cheapest cuts of meat and scrimp on all costs. They have no pride in the food. We have been served watered down Kingfisher before. They have decorated and the place looks lovely, but the cheap meat is horrible. The Waiter asked us how our food was and then stood there looking confused when we said it wasn't nice. Eventually he got the Manager who said they could make a new curry, but we said: 'with the same cuts of meat it won't be any different.' She said we'll give you some money off. They gave us exactly £2.35 off each meal! No pride, no care. They clearly only care about profit. There were 2 other diners who also said they had a really bad curry, meat was chewy and horrible. We enjoy a good curry and this wasn't one of them! To add insult to injury we got home and both have upset stomachs! This is our local curry house, but we will NEVER go again!

As a BS3 local, I absolutely love this place. The food and portion sizes are great. I always order the Clove Special and would highly recommend it. I’ve eaten in and got takeaway- both are lovely.

We love curry and unfortunately this was the worst we’ve had. Paneer masala was inedible. Burnt to a crisp paneer covered in masala sauce so thick you could have stood your fork in it. Butter chicken that tasted of nothing but desiccated coconut and a sauce so thick it could have passed as poly filler. Chicken vindaloo tasted of nothing but chilli powder. The chicken dansak was the best of them and that was average at best. I don’t know who they have cooking for them but a chef they ain’t. I’ve eaten here in the past and had some pretty good food but wouldn’t spend my money there again. The one star was for the staff who were pleasant and knocked off some money for us. I’d give a zero for the food.

I’ve lived in Bristol for 13 years and The Clove have never failed to deliver with the quality and portion size of food.

Unfortunately I have to say, be careful when booking over the Christmas period. We booked online where it allowed us to have a table booked. On arrival told it couldn’t happen because they had been booked out for a while. A colleague tried to say they had emailed back however nothing appeared in mail or junk box. Christmas is a busy period but websites/bookings need to be updated. We were not the only people who had this happen. Ended up going to Coronation Curry House where we had the best time and Indian in a while. Just be careful to not have your time wasted.

Christmas is next month but looks like Buddy the Elf was in town cooking up the dishes on 11/11/2023. I had Butter Chicken and it was the worst I’ve ever tasted, no flavour, no spice and overly sweet like it’s been drenched in Maple syrup. If you want a decent curry I would avoid but if you have a sweet tooth maybe it’s the place for you.

I rarely write one star reviews but I have never been so upset by a meal at a restaurant. The staff were careless and inattentive. I ordered a chicken tikka masala and they served up a bright red curry that they said is chicken tikka masala but it tasted exactly like a chicken korma - coconut-y overly sweet and full of almonds. Just for context I have a tree nuts oral allergy. After one bite, I stopped immediately and notified the staff. The infuriating part is that they were trying to gaslight me when I told them this is a korma and not a tikka masala. They kept repeating it’s a sweet chicken tikka masala. I have never heard such utter rubbish. Having doubled checked at home with our multi Indian cookbooks and consulted a few Desi aunties - there’s no such thing as a sweet chicken tikka masala. Anyway this is the worst of our experience and I wish I can tell you the starters and sides were better but they were not.

Visiting the Hen and Chicken for a concert (just across the road) and fancied an early evening curry. Glad we found The Clove as I had the best chicken tikka biriani for a while. And my friend’s dhansak was also first class. Will definitely return next time I’m in Bristol. (By the way the Sauvignon Blanc was also of good quality). Diolch am fwyd a gwasanaeth penigamp.

Went last night for a friends birthday with 6 others. All ordered different meals and everyone thought the food was excellent. The staff were really friendly and attentive. We will be back.

Lovely place, tasty food and the staff was very efficient despite the fact that it was very busy. Big portions, good quality for the price.

Disappointing main course following a tasty poppadum and spice tray. My lamb was chewy and grey inside and my son’s vegetarian dish had overcooked cheese in it. Our Kingfisher beers were also quite obviously watered down and tasteless. Staff were pretty non-attentive and disinterested when I pointed out about the lamb. A bit of a scuzzy place really. Me and my son were both sick not long after leaving the restaurant. He thinks he has food poisoning today…

Recently ordered on Deliveroo. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. Delicious prawn Korma, and chicken Tikka Masala with vegetarian sides. All of it was absolutely delicious. So much flavour and not oily at all. Huge portions so really good value for money. Will definitely be ordering again!

Good food, not a huge menu so it was easier to select our choices. Staff were efficient and tentative however the physical environment felt lack lustre and the temperature of the actual restaurant was too cold, my group didn't want to remove their jackets when we sat down which isn't a pleasant way to start a meal. Food soon helped and we didn't have to wait long for it to he served, did go early evening tho.

Thought we would try this curry house for a change. The food was great with perfect spice levels and generous portions. Unfortunately, our second round of Kingfisher beers were watered down. Could not quite believe it at first but three other people agreed. The Coronation Curry House never do idiot things like that.

Absolutely disgusting service we come here after not eating here in over 2 years expecting a lovely Indian for my brothers birthday , they seated us and then told us 45 mins in after ordering there was a trouble in the kitchen and that it was getting sorted , we then waited an additional 25 mins and was told it was then sorted and it would be less than 10 mins , we waited 1 hour 30 mins in total and then walked out . We had no communication and that management would not show there face to communicate with us , we didn’t know anything and was mislead and mistreated . Would never ever go back worse service I’ve ever had .

Had a takeaway last night and the lamb Achari was unreal! The tikka lamb was tender and the sauce so flavoursome. The garlic naan was quite under seasoned and definitely needed more salt / flavour but otherwise everything was delicious. We’d previously had a dish with very tough lamb in it so this was a great result.

Shocking customer service , We ordered a £60 order via Deliveroo but was given another customers order instead of our own. We called the clove but they didn’t want to know only telling us they could do nothing as they didn’t have the drivers number ! …they told us to contact the driver via Deliveroo , didn’t even offer any form of apology and didn’t seem to care …. Deliveroo refunded our order and we were left to go gingery with meat dishes as veggies…..some of the worse customer service I’ve ever experienced!

Ordered online with Deliveroo. Food arrived 50 minutes after the first estimated delivery time, the updated expected time just got longer and longer. When we opened the bag both curries had the lids half open and these had leaked all over the bag. The actual curries and rice were quite nice . However, both of the nan bread were freezing cold. I called The Clove to complain. I was advised by the person answering that this was the delivery drivers fault. I suggested that the lids not being on properly is the restaurants responsibility. He passed me to the manager who was rude and dismissive. He stated that refunds would have to go through Deliveroo. I wasn't asking for a refund but merely for the restaurant to take responsibility for a mistake that is easy to make. 100% will definitely not be ordering from here again. This is mostly due to the shocking attitude of the staff when I phoned. A customers services training day seems to be needed.

It's ok as far as Indian restaurants go. Just standards really. However I did order a saag dish which they didn't have?! I would have thought it would be one of the most popular dishes.

it was OK, person who served us was a little bit short with us and not very friendly. White wine served in warm glasses, glasses replaced with tumblers. Food was pretty average.

I visited yesterday I was very pleased with the amazing service, I really enjoyed the food.

Quality of chicken is alright,But Watery tikka masalla sauce. grease sitting around the edges. Lamb chops may have put me off of lamb for life, the fat was undesirable. They went straight in the bin. Asked for a mint yoghurt and mango chutney and got 3 mint yogs no chutney and the pots were really overfilled, yoghurt was tasteless.

Great place serving good Indian food. The clove special shaslik lamb bhuna was delicious and not too greasy. The bhaji were good too. Can recommend as an eat in or take away.

Myself and my boyfriend came here for a meal last night and it was fantastic. The clove is my local Indian restaurant but I’ve not been back since restrictions have eased and I was so impressed. The place looks fantastic since they’ve decorated and was spotlessly clean. The food was delicious as always and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are always very friendly too! We will definitely be back soon.

After years of eating here, we ordered last night and it was the worse curry I’ve ever had. I’ve been sick and been on the toilet since! Please avoid Diabolical Zero stars

Call them few times they treat me like a joke and hang up five times or more. I can't belive this place is running
