I really can’t believe that it’s taken me this long to do a review of The Clarence. This astounding cafe/bar was a surprisingly late find for us; we didn’t go in for quite a long time, and in hindsight, this was a huge mistake because it’s amazing. The venue is perfect with a large outside seating area, while the inside has a mixture of comfy seats, tables and booths. It’s spacious but also feels cosy and the decor and lighting are trendy without being pretentious. Because it’s an old bank, they have retained the original vault, which can be reserved for small group events and is very cool. It’s already on my shortlist of places to hide out in the event of a zombie apocalypse! The Clarence does a wide variety of drinks including a varied range of excellent cocktails. There is a fancy drink to cater to everyone’s taste and they are all made with love by their wonderful staff, their 2 for £14 cocktail deal is a bargain for drinks of such quality. They have a great selection of beers and wines, and if you are so inclined, you can also purchase hot or cold soft drinks! Their coffee and cake deal deserves a special mention, at only £5 it’s probably the best deal of this kind in Hinckley, I’m obsessed with cakes and brownies, and their selection is exceptional and at this price it’s great for the bank balance - however, slightly less kind on the waistline. The Clarence are partners with Pane & Gusto. Run by two of the most wonderful human beings that you will ever meet who will cook you authentic and super tasty Italian food to order. This is food cooked with love, and you can literally taste it! Food of this quality would be selling for triple the price in London & it’s exceptional quality. I often just ask to be ‘surprised’ and I have never been disappointed with what I have received. Highly recommended food. The Clarence also hosts regular live events including pizza making, live music, bottomless brunches, drag bingo & movie nights. We’re really spoiled for choice, and every event we’ve been to has been brilliant with a buzzing, friendly atmosphere. A venue would be nothing without the people who run it, and The Clarence is exceptionally well catered for here. It’s starts from the top: the amazing Lisa sets the tone - she’s just fantastic and so welcoming, making everyone who visits feel like a superstar. You can tell she genuinely loves The Clarence, it’s staff and all of its patrons. Every single member of the Clarence team that I have had interactions with are wonderful, they make it a pleasure to visit every single time. It’s like a wonderful family where everyone gets on and is having a fantastic time! I might have been late to The Clarence wagon train, which was a mistake on my part, so if you have yet to visit, please do and become part of The Clarence family!

What a fantastic bar in the heart of Hinckley. The staff are amazing and gave us a warm welcome. Brilliant decor based on the fact the building was once a bank. Plus they have awesome bands like Third Alert play there too!

So shocked this was the tarot and tapas night, booked with work friends , tarot reader was rude to me and so declined a reading from such a negative person, and the tapas consisted of pizza for every course, and really didnt cater for my vegetarian work friend, and we had to share pizzas with strangers, (tear and share with no plates, yuk) as we were made to sit with others rather then having private meal and reading so so disappointed, no where near worth 37.50, rip of Britain comes to mind, on a plus really enjoyed the night out with work friends and especially after leaving and going elsewhere!

The open mic night was great. Really supportive crowd and fantastic musicians

Nice little bar, we sat outside with a soft drink on a hot evening. Staff pleasant and service was quick.

We came to eat lunch here today,garlic bread was realy good and our daughter realy enjoyed it,pizza cooked well only reason it didn't get 5 star was I like tomatoes sauce in pizza,the pizza here are made with just cheese topping,it nothing against the style they do it just not what I normally like but will go back as the husband and wife were realy nice and made alot of effort for me and my family feel comfy and appricatied,realy made us feel valued as a customer,give them a try they are realy worth it

My first time in the Clarence and I thoroughly enjoyed it I came along with my partner and youngest granddaughter and we all enjoyed our meal..the staff were lovely helpful..informative the Clarence was comfortable and had a variety of drinks to suit everyone..can't wait to go back there...

I'd give this a 10 star if I could. My mum had her wedding reception for 50 people at The Clarence, it was perfect. The food, the atmosphere, the service, the staff, everything was first class. The Manager Lisa was so helpful and came up with some great ideas, really put herself out and went the extra mile. She made a balloon arch, put flowers outside the front doors, put up a disco ball, cleared the tables for a dance floor and even blacked the windows out by the dance floor, so the disco lights could be seen (it was a daytime/early evening wedding) Everybody had a fabulous time and we all said we'd highly recommend this venue for a 'do' Thanks Lisa and all the staff for making this a very special day.

Called in for breakfast this morning as a treat. From the fabulous greeting, service and to the exceptional food it was spot on. It is our go to place for coffee, cakes and lunch too. It's a great place for a night out listening to live music of all genres. Definitely will back again and again 👌🏻

I came into the Clarence on a Friday afternoon, expecting a lovely bit of lunch and a few cocktails. Admittedly, it was busy, and since working in hospitality myself, i completely understand that there may be a wait for food and drink at these times. However, 20 minutes for 3 drinks, and 40 minutes for 3 sides, I was not impressed. Not only did the food take far too long, but unfortunately, some of it was not enjoyable at all. I ordered the bacon wrapped chicken and brie bites (as shown in the picture). Watery, chewy and tasteless. The manageress was kind enough to give me a voucher of the foods worth in return for this, but it was a total let down. Maybe we caught them on a bad day.

ordered pancakes, the sweet pancake was good with honey and fruit. the savoury pancake was horrendous… asked for cheese, bacon, peppers. you would expect that would mean cooked ingredients and maybe melted cheese? No. Cheap grated cheese from a packet, cold uncooked bell pepper and cold bacon bits pre cut. It was basically like a salad on a pancake.. coffee was cold and the food came before the coffee arrived. won’t be going back.

We are so lucky in Hinckley we have lots of cafes and bars that offer great service, half of eating/ drinking out is the quality of staff the greeting you get. I work for myself so getting out the house and seeing people is so important. The Clarence never fails to deliver, a warm welcome, I was served by Alice today and she gave me such a lovely welcome, it makes a huge difference. I can get a coffee anywhere. But a warm welcome, makes the break extra nice.

We ordered fish fingers and chips and a burger and chips from the kids menue and the food was burnt, the chips were burnt and the fish fingers were burnt and soaked in grease. There was oil on the plate and the oil looked like old oil. I ate the burger because I was so hungry but we didn't eat the chips....you couldn't and my sister didn't eat the fish fingers they were awful and the was hardly any fish inside the fish fingers. The assistant manager had so many excuses as to why the food was so bad, she said the chef was new and then it was the person isn't a chef their an assistant chef 🙄 and then she said they had just got new spuds and so that was the problem. In the end she gave us a refund for the food but charged for the tea a soda water we had. But never, ever again would myself or anyone in my family ever eat there again because the food was so atrocious. Avoid this place it honestly isn't worth it.🥺😥🤢

Lovely place to be, nice and chilled for a coffee with a friend in the day and live acts with alcohol in the evening. Either one you fancy, expect a good time (and no I don't work there)

Guy making drinks/cocktails completely ignored us.. Could have said hi but nothing. Waited for another staff member to serve us. The very bright light by the loos that comes on with motion is annoying and takes away for the ambience. There's no need for it./way to white/btight. Tarro loos manage with just a warm look, low wattage light.

The best spot for classy cocktails and shots. 2 for £14 on cocktails, and if you find your favourite isn’t on the menu, ask nicely and they will switch up a spirit more to your liking. The baby Guinness shots are some of my favourite in the area and their strawberry mojitos are to die for! The customer service is second to none and they always great you with a smile on their face and always a friendly chat when you’re left on your own when your drinking partner has gone to the loo. Truly one of the best new additions to Hinckley post Covid

We had super fresh fantastic breakfasts this morning, great produce, perfect eggs, warm tiger toasts, excellent coffees all round.. fabulous service and superb customer service. Really clean, lovely atmosphere and doggy friendly environment with lots of space so the dogs don’t get in anyone’s way. Family friendly place, a fantastic all rounder! Try and stop us coming back! Just what Hinckley town needed.

We decided on the Tapas ,there were 3 good sized dishes plus ciabatta for £14.50 ,highly recommend.

We hired The Clarence cafe bar for my daughters babyshower 7/10/2024. Lisa and her team of staff created a very welcoming atmosphere,they were all very helpful and had smiling faces. The ploughman's boards were beauitfully presented and tasted deicious. We had plenty of room to accommodate prams and playing games. A wonderful central venue for any event.

A long overdue lunch date and catch up with a friend was made all the more special when coupled with a delicious tuna mayo and red onion Panini, crispy, seasoned fries and salad. So tasty! Super friendly staff, speedy service and a very homely atmosphere. We could have stayed all day!

Attended here for a baby shower. The staff were very friendly and co-operative and ensured we had everything we needed to make the day special. The food was tasty and also presented nicely. I would recommend this venue and will definitely be attending again.

I stumbled upon this place for a birthday drink and after looking at the menu we decided to have lunch here. It was the best food I have had in Hinckley in years! Excellent quality drinks, delicious and quality food, and extremely welcoming, clean and comfortable! This is definitely a new favourite!!

Visited for the first time on a Friday mid-evening. We were very pleased with the change over from this former bank. We had a few drinks and decided to return later in the evening. We did return and my word were we pleased to see the place packed out with people enjoying themselves whilst listening to a live band playing Irish music. We were two couples and enjoyed the entire evening. The staff were very accommodating and the service was good. We did not have anything to eat this time but will certainly return to sample some more of the delights of this new attraction. Just what Hinckley needs!!

It's a really interesting place for a café bar in the old bank, I went when it was first opening and I like the place, I do think there are better options in town. But the coffee was really nice and seems quite relaxed when I've been in.

A truly great venue Been loads of times and have watched it improve over the last 6 months Good food, great atmosphere and a decent selection of drinks. The staff are great and the owners engage with you Highly recommend especially on nights with live music.

Popped in this morning for a quick bite for breakfast for a family of 4. The breakfast menu looked promising, and similar to other establishments in the area so was looking forward to a good feed. Drinks came pretty quickly and the coffee was good, but unfortunately it went a bit downhill after this. We waited for around 45 minutes for our breakfast with people from who came in after us receiving their food before us. When part of our order came to the table, we were somewhat disappointed. The menu promised ‘ succulent sausages’, but the sausages in the cob looked very sorry for themselves and anything but succulent. At this point we had seen enough, spoke to the front of house who was very accommodating and understanding of our frustrations. Honestly, I’m giving 2 stars purely due to the customer service. In short, the food menu promised so much and delivered so little, coffee was good, customer service was excellent! The establishment seems a little confused on what it wants to be and needs a lot of refinement.

Good dog friendly bar in Hinckley. Bar staff are friendly. The beer is crafty... Not a huge selection but pleasant enough. Slightly noisy as a room... Maybe needs soft furnishings to blanket sound a little. Nice place though.

What a lovely place and great atmosphere, it was really needed in Hinckley. Live music, great vibes and nice ales . They have lovely food latterà now too. Highly recommend, I visit very often and never disappoints! Well done you all.

Went to The Clarence on Friday night for a drink. Lovely atmosphere, very freindly bar staff and great beer. A warm and inviting place which original and unique. Can highly recommend.

We visited during a live event and it was great. Amazing atmosphere and friendly staff. The place opened recently and speaking to the owner, they are planing a lot is events. I will definitely go again.

Nice place for a drink but it should open every morning for coffee as well.Continuity is important especially for a new business!

I can’t offer more of a review as I waited at the bar for 15 mins to be served and there were only 6 other customers in the entire venue. Think the staff need to have some more intense training about how to prioritise orders and service. I wanted to feed back something better as I was so excited to try it out. Hopefully my next attempt will get me some of the lovely looking beer.

This new cafe opened just before Christmas. Nothing very unusual with the decor or background music, but the staff are friendly and professional and the coffee is good. The property is in a prime location and seems very popular in the evenngs when one drives past.

Staff were cool and friendly. They have quite a good selection of cocktails beers and spirits. Do try it you will definitely not be disappointed.
