For some reason my husband has breakfasts here a lot. After having my first one today I really don't understand why. The bacon was not just dry but it actually tasted burned, not cheffy char grilled, but burned. Toast was just warmed bread. The rest if the food was just about Okay but cheap ingredients carelessly cooked. In contrast to the burned bacon, the toast was just warmed bread.

Miserable, terrible staff. Busy evening but all staff looked bored or angry serving you. Door men were lovely and friendly though.

Arrived at 11.20am on a Sunday for a family breakfast. The place was an absolute dump, all the tables were covered in used plates and cups. We had to clear a table ourselves to create a space to sit. No one was available to wipe our tavle.We went to the bar to order our food and was told the kitchen was not taking food orders for 15 minutes due to a backlog. 45 minutes later, they still weren't accepting orders. It then became a free for all. The person in charge seemed ill equipped to handle the situation, leaving customers in the dark with knowing when they could order, never mind when the food will arrive. Food finally arrives, kids' food is brought last, wife's food is forgotten - had to chase 3 times. All food was like warm at best. Tables around us complaining also, including a meat breakfast being delivered to a table that ordered vegan. As a customer it would have been better to close the kitchen, put a sign up and inform customers that it's drinks only until such time that the staffing levels are such that the place can run. As a proven keyboard warrior, it is my solemn duty to inform you of this in the most British way.

Popped in after a long day on a charity golf day. Walked in with two people that I vaguely new. I needed toilet and one of the guys requested a beer and was told swiftly by little tattooed fellow behind bar that he wouldn’t get served because he believed he was drunk. Licenses prerogative as we all should know and quite acceptable. I said to him I am quite sober to which he replied “yes” I went to toilet upstairs and then ordered myself a drink. The others had left pub by then. To be told “ you can’t have a drink because you walked in with the other two “ who a vaguely knew. I take it he was the manager who said that the other two were still outside! What had that to do with me? The most offending thing he said to me was “ I told you that you were not getting served” The man is a complete disgrace as a manager. I know the licensing law very well . He is entitled to serve who he feels is appropriate. But to tell blatant lies about having one beer by myself a man he accepted was not under the influence of drink . Walking in his pub with virtual strangers is mind boggling. You and your pub is a total disgrace. Posted 20 minutes after leaving aforementioned pub. Little man syndrome I feel. Paid for well done steak , made a not done meal for me,took it to them went to get it sorted,took longer ask for refund as I have to leave for class was told they can’t refund me, so they basically stole my £10.19 . Worse customer service ever and evn thieves

Ordered all day brunch and asked for scrambled egg what I received was a boiled egg mashed up …. Disgusting Not able to have toast but the next table along had bread and butter … what happened to basic customer service . Tea was water and milk and to top it off there was a rat outside the window slowly dying … Giving this pub a miss

Went for a drink this evening about 5 o’clock but left before ordering as the place was minging. Tables piled high with dirty plates, half eaten food and dirty glasses where clearly people had attempted to clear tables themselves so they could sit down. Watched staff bring drinks for people who had ordered at the table and then return to the bar without collecting anything. It’s a shame as this used to be one of better Wetherspoons. Went to the Royal Oak instead which was a lot dearer but at least was clean

Been here lots of times. Food isn’t great but it’s usually ok for a drink and meet up. Made the mistake of going before the football match on Saturday as hoped it would be less busy than the City Centre pubs. It was. I got a table by moving just a few coffee cups onto another table. Then when I actually sat down I could not believe it, there were at least 12 tables just piled up with plates and glasses. The table next to me had disguarded breakfast plates with congealed food on them. An hour and a half later it was still there, along with practically all the glasses and plates on all the other tables. Surely anyone with a modicum of intelligence when bringing out food or drinks would at least pick up some plates or glasses on their way back. No one did except once. A couple in the table next to us had their food brought out with tiny dessert forks as they had no proper ones!! !Someone who appeared to be a manager half cleared one table then disappeared. I counted at least six groups of people who came in saw the tables and left. There seemed to be a few staff around. Surely they could employ someone just for table clearing. It will be a very long time before I venture here again

Food took nearly an hour to come. They forgot onion rings which took another 15 mins. Chicken was cooked but tepid, chips were underdone. We ate it as we were hungry and needed to get our son home on a school night, but had to fight for a 5% reduction with a rude waitress,

STILL the worst pub in Coventry. Garbage management. I wouldn't trust this lot to run a raffle let alone a pub. Why are Whetherspoon's allowing this to happen? DO NOT use this pub. I cannot give this place a low enough rating.

Don't go on a weekend when it's busy. Serious shortage of staff. Tables left to 'clear up yourself. Management were not 'hospitality focused: completely unsociable! I did engage in conversation and she didn't wanna know. Young staff are doing their best; bless em. Food was what you'd expect so can't complain. I did however ask for peas rather than the Mediterranean salad and the waiter looked at me like I'd done something on the table; and replied; "oh; we can't do that because it's not on this specific meal"... I couldn't get my head around why they couldn't swap the salad for peas - it's not rocket science. Now I know why they can't get the staff in here.

We have been 3 times for food at different times. The thoughts are it’s cheap what do you expect. Yesterday was the last straw. The grill menu was no. Existent so I had a burger. Crispy chicken burger should be good as had it in other Wetherspoon and tasted good. The burger tasted of the dirty deep fat fryer. The best thing on the plate was the onion rings. I left most of my burger. So it’s not cheap as basically ate chips and onion rings. So many nice places in Earlsdon. This place is not one of them. It’s so busy and noisy and food is dreadful. Don’t bother

Quite possibly the worst pub in Coventry. Really bad management that I struggle to call management, Where on earth do they get these people from?? Rude, arrogant and totally lacking in common sense let alone any management skills. Bar staff are OK but poorly led, If I were Mr Whetherspoon I'd be taking a serious look at this place and choosing my 'management team' a little more carefully.

We have been coming here every week for the last couple of years and have never had any reason to fault the place. It is what it is, cheap meals and cheap drinks. Staff have always been pleasant and helpful, with the food being well up to the standard for the price.

Dined here a few days ago and I had the most wonderful server. Food came fast and cocktails were amazing. Very pleased. I have been coming here with my mum for curry Thursday for years but due to an unfortunate accident she hasn’t been able to come for the last ten weeks. Note that she is fit again it was great to come back to a familiar tradition. Pub was heaving and I was lucky to get a table but nice atmosphere, nice mix of people and we all agreed, a great meal. No lack of chicken in the curry and sides done to a tee. Great value and great meeting place, can’t go wrong.

There is an outdoor area clearly designated NON SMOKING. Despite this some smokers show cynical contempt when challenged and are often offensive. Please enforce this policy management. Like this pub but some customers have their own rules.

I agreed to come back to the City Arms with family members for a meal and drinks and am happy to say it was very good so credit where it is due. We tried the Purity Gold which was excellent the curries were served quickly and was the best Wetherspoons curry's we've had in ages. We were all very pleased.

This place is going down hill. There is a poor choice of a poor selection of beers and often the service is appalling.

We returned to the City Arms after a 2 year gap and initially were pleased to see that it had been redecorated. Our euphoria ended there, there is still a scramble at the centre of the bar area that is split into 3 sections by the main pillars, don't bother waiting patiently on either side of this area as you will become invisible. If you are a local who drinks in the City Arms daily this ability to become invisible cannot be achieved and you will be served without having to speak a word as long as you wave a bank note around in the direction of the bar person and nod towards a hand pull. I tried this whilst acting casual and smug but failed. Eventually one of the 2 members of staff who were standing behind the bar seemingly oblivious to the large throng of customers becoming impatient to be served approach me and I requested on of the beers that was part of the beer festival line up, to assist the member of staff I pointed to the pump clip to help speed up the process, "That ones not on yet" came the reply. The staff here a clearly poorly trained, virtually unsupervised and low in numbers at busy times. If the staff would communicate to waiting punters by acknowledging them and speaking the simple words of "I know you are waiting" this would be a milestone in JDs history. Previous comments about the state of the toilets is pertinent.

Visited this place last night whilst out on an Ale trail with friends. A nice big range of Ales to choose from and superb flavour and quality was had! We ended stoping for 2!

I used to come her years ago, with my mum, on curry Thursday when I used to be on shifts. Since I have changed jobs and no longer do shifts I started going around to the house. Recently we have started meeting here on a Thursday to get back into our old routine. Still as busy in the evening as it ever was in the day and it is difficult to fault a spoons with the great prices. Curry is still great, I have always found the serving staff very polite and chatty and although I have said it before, the app is a godsend.

With the exception of a couple who are friendly and attentive, the staff at The Arms are slow and grumpy. One or two of them are downright rude. Whilst I often see ‘Team Leaders’ busying about, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a manager, which is probably why the staff behave as they do. Some nights, they have a good selection of beers/ales on tap, but it’s very hit and miss. Many people, like me, have given up making a comment about the too frequent poor service because it is met with derision. The place smells real bad, the toilets, which are above the bar, frequently leak - into the bar area - it really needs a complete refurbishment. Having said that, on occasions, when good staff are on duty, and they have all the pumps working, it’s a good place for friends to get round a table and put the world to rights. But these occasions are becoming less frequent and it’s time for ‘them upstairs’ to sort the place out.

Tell me how the non customers can sit at a table with fish and chips from the nearby chippie and their own drinks and not be challenged. Also non customers buying their food from Greggs opposite and sitting at a table on the front car park. you made the back garden area as no smoking and you don’t enforce it. You allow all and sundry to use the disabled toilet. You allow the door to remain open so that all can use it depriving the real disabled. These are important rules, rules you made and yet you are too lazy to enforce them..Get a grip ..you are becoming a laughing stock..recently I watched a youth from a group urinating in the rear garden area..I challenged the staff and along came supervisor Liam. He challenged the whole group ( some much bigger than him) and sent them from the premises. Well done Liam....

I visited the City Arms today with 2 friends for breakfast , after waiting 45 minutes for our meal it was brought to us nearly cold , we returned it and waited a further 30 minutes , the were grossly understaffed there wasn't a proper manager to complain to , and the two guys serving were overwhelmed with complaints , I felt very sorry for them, we have been there before for lung times and have never had a problem before, just get some more staff and more organisation before you loose custom

First time in this pub .It was busy for a Thursday lunchtime ,we were able to find a table .I couldn’t believe the range of the menu .There were only two members of staff behind the bar .She was efficient and we were quickly served and she took our order.Our food didn’t come out at the same time which was a shame but it was very tasty and value for money .Definitely would recommend .

We were going to see a band at The New Albany and came in here for a few drinks and some cheap, but quality, food. It was a warm night and there were plenty of tables inside to choose from. Orders from the app. were dealt with promptly and the food and staff were great. Definitely a favourite.

I had a rude barwoman turn me away from the bar to order alcohol, but I’d never even asked in the first place! she had asked me for my ID before I had even made it to the bar fully! I said I don’t have ID and I’m not here for alcohol anyway and she said “well that’s why!”, referring to my lack of ID. She even had the cheek to square up to my own mother after coming out from the back of the bar.

There was no need in the way that the bar woman on shift today at (13:15 on 14/07/19) spoke to my partner. Asked for ID from me and my partner as soon as we stepped into the bar but we didnt even ask for any alcoholic drinks. Partner said he didn't have any ID so she made the accusation that because he didnt have his ID that was the reason he wasn't drinking. We were actually there for food not for alcohol .. he even stated he wanted a coke. My partners mum spoke to the lady about the way she spoke to my partner and she got very rude and gave a lot of attitide! Squared up to my partners mum and didnt listen to the reason of how she was wrong in her approach? Got a lot of attitude and said "bye bye" before my partners mum left with a sarcastic and swarmy attitude suggesting she was better than her and above? We are not about that life. Just come in for some food! So disappointing as I love spoons usually. This ones poor

A nice pub, that is better that the usual Wetherspoons. However there were bouncers on the door that checked out bags before we were allowed in.

The Godiva Festival is a great event even with the £2 entrance fee which I don’t think put people off, but although the drinks are very overpriced the worst part is queuing for 40 minutes. To be honest the City Arms was a bit out of its depth with the amount of people who decided to drop in here first but at least the food and drinks prices aren’t robbing you and the fact it is only a 5 minute walk away from The Memorial Park is a blessing.

Popped in here for breakfast only as where we planned to go had fire training being held in the pub. So five of us met up for breakfast.

Went with a group from work. I had the Empire State Burger which was very nice. A few people had steak and I noticed that they tend to over do the steak slightly, Very good value for money especially some of the offers. The bottomless Coffe is very good value for money and includes decaf and soya as options. Outside seating which is nice on a hot day thought near to the road. Toilet could be cleaner and I don't know how a disabled person could use them as they are upstairs. There is Very limited car parking on site almost impossibe to get a space. Othere parking is available. Very near bus routs within about 15minutes of train station.

its just outside coventry the number 11 bus will take you there. it a nice looking place just over from shops and not far from the bus stop. it has a large area at the front for cars or sitting out there and the inside is lovely with a lot of decor and a nice little garden at the side. the staff where very friendly chatting to me while i was being served and the waitress said i hope all is ok with your meal and i did enjoy it.

This is a large pub with lots of inside and outside seating room. The food is not bad, typical for a branded pub. Food portions tend to be inconsistent as does the quality and temperature but generally it's not too bad. Certainly edible 95% of the time. Drinks served over the bar a generally good. The only real minus I regularly experience when I visit this pub, and I visit it at least once a week, is that it is often understaffed and one can often have quite a wait when ordering food and drinks. The only time I steer clear of this pub is during the weekend of the annual GODIVA Festival. During this weekend the quality of food and drinks deteriorates considerably and drinks are only served in plastic beakers. The beakers are unmarked, do not have the required CE markings and do not allow the proper measure. For example the Pint and half pint measures for these beakers are to the brim!!, which is ONLY stated on the packaging the beakers are in, AND the drinks you are served are NEVER to the brim. It's an unfair and improper practice and why I, my family and many friends steer clear of the CITY ARMS over the Godiva Weekend. Ive raised this issue with duty managers over a few years but seem to be completely ignored as they argue its interest of health and safety!!!. That might be the case but there are plastic beakers available on the market that display the CE, pint and half pint markings in line with the law. Lets see what happens over the 2019 Godiva Festival. Summary - generally a nice pub to visit and you can have a fun evening and watch this space for which beakers are offered over GODIVA 2019.

Great big place, food was good and there was 6 of us. All the food came together so didn’t have to wait. Alcohol great prices. But agree with other users that the pub doesn’t have enough bar staff

I think Wetherspoons in general do a great duty in providing competively priced food and drinks. Simply cant fault the quality for the price you pay. But this pub in earlsdon which I have drank in for many years over the time has always had the same problem. You can stand at the bar and watch loads of staff walking past doing nothing while there is loads of customers waiting. I would advise the owner of the company to pop in on a Saturday night to witness it and I will buy him a pint.

Great that they sell beer wine and spirits at a reduced price, but this comes as a precedent for reduced labour. One person serving at the bar today at 12:30 and we all had to queue like we were in the social club across the road!

If you’re on a budget Wetherspoon food is unfussy and edible, and I set the standard bar lower than I would for more expensive venues. I was particularly disappointed here though. We’re talking fried eggs so poor I could peel the burnt surface from the rest of the (Luke warm) egg, minuscule slices of over cooked bacon and other people’s extras just being added to my plate for us to puzzle over.(Something I’m told they do often). Not good enough I’m afraid.

Waited an age to get served, whilst regular tramps jump queue to get served, upon getting served, said our peace, then when returning for another round being told would not get served again, lazy staff who constantly gassing round the back instead of serving, no wonder thus place gets bad name

If you are a fan of dry, overcooked chicken and truly terrible ribs, then this is the place to go. Not even that cheap. We all know Wetherspoons are not places for a culinary treat, but I did expect better.

Came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We Ordered a veggie burger and a steak.

Called in for a birthday breakfast, food was warm at best, poached eggs with solid yolk. Plenty of foul mouthed people in if that is your bag. Didn't complain as did not want to upset the birthday girl. If you like cheap, just warm food and ten minute wait to get your coffee, this is the place for you.....enjoy!

The City Arms is an Earlsdon Stalwart, currently managed by Wetherspoons. My friends and I pop along one or twice a week because they (usually) sell an excellent range of real ale. They have 8 pumps on and (usually) all in use. Add the fact that beers cost around £2.50 and you have a recipe for a good night out. BUT, I say 'Usually' because, of late, they have 4-7 pumps off which is damned frustrating. What is infuriating is that the staff don't seem to care at all about sorting the problem out; and whose still, if you dare say anything about it, they become snappy and turn their backs on you. Once, ok, everyone's allowed a bad night; but this is starting to happen too frequently. I don't want to give the impression of Mr Whinge from Epping, but I have emailed the company on a couple of occasions, and have had no reply. So I'm taking to tinternet to see if they notice or care about mine - and other customers - frustrations!!

Prompt service , welcoming staff , food was excellent... and great value .. even free drink each with the food we ordered ...

I'm absolutely appalled that this place. I went for a simple lunch with my partner, he had a burger and they messed up on the sides. I ordered the vegetarian lasagne, took a bite and realised it wasn't vegetarian. I had to run to the toilets to throw up. We went to the bar and explained what had happened, none of the staff even seemed to care. The manager apologised in complete monotone (it was not sincere in the slightest). All the staff just plead ignorant there and blame each other for mistakes.

Not bad witherspoons pub gets busy on friday amd saturday nights sometimes wait time for a drink takes a while tho

The staff are friendly and service is good. View is bad as are customers lol .. they are friends. Hasnt changed in 10 years. Loos ok ish. Parking charge reasonable. Lunchtime is best as it gets less friendly later.

6 of us went to The City Arms for a meal to celebrate Fathers day, It wasn't particularly busy, however, the tables weren't cleared and the dining area was a mess. We ordered our food only to be told that a lot of dishes weren't available, and my daughter had to help the lady behind the bar with the food order as she told her ' I don't eat here so I don't know the menu' !!

Fuimos temprano para comer algo tarde y aunque el menú era predominantemente hamburguesas o perritos calientes la calidad era bastante buena. Teníamos hamburguesas que eran realmente sabroso y bien preparado. Relación calidad-precio - 8 libras. 95 por una hamburguesa, papas fritas, aros de cebolla y una bebida. Servicio muy amable y un entorno agradable. Volvería de nuevo.

It's a large and interesting 1930's building, which unusually for Wetherspoon's has a number of separate areas. Other than that, it is fairly typical of the chain. A unique carpet, local history on the walls, cheap food and drink, free refills on tea and coffee and overworked, but pleasant staff. This branch has a particularly good range of cask beer, so worth a visit.

We have not visited this pub for a long time surprised to find most of the parking spaces given up chairs and tables and I was told they don't take camra vouchers on a bank Holiday

No beaf los brazos de la ciudad! La comida y la bebida es muy buena relación calidad-precio. Siempre hay una mezcla total de personas aquí y en general un público encantador, amable y muy simpático con los niños. Es una cadena, pero una clase Wetherspoons por encima de la mayoría de los otros lo que es quizás debido a la ubicación. Cualquiera que visite Earlsdon tiene que entrar para una bebida.

Service is slowwwwww, nice variety of beers and ale both locals and International's. We visit the place in a cold winter night and there was no heating inside therefore it was cold inside.

First off the toliets are horrid, it took me over ten minutes to get the loo roll out!

Our family party of 7 adults and 3 children had Sunday lunch here yesterday. There was space for us when we walked in at 3pm and the waitress immediately help to put the tables together for us. Although it took a little while to be served at the bar, once ordered the food came promptly. The food was fine and excellent value for money. We were also given a plate a knife for our birthday cake.

Visita a una familia con madre enfermedad celiaca. Un menú limitado pero decente sin gluten gratis disponibles. Bien de precio y buena comida. Apple y natillas era cayera sin gluten, así que podrían tener todos un flan. El pub es enorme y un poco fría, pero el servicio era genial. Gracias.

It sometimes feels like an inconvenience asking for a beer with so many staff, smile a bit more, remember that to tell a customer we do a lot of staff training here for other sites is not the customers problem, nor is it an answer a customer wants to hear. Its a nice bar, needs more happy staff and more focus on service with a smile though if I'm honest.

Attended this pub last night, was sat catching up quietly in the corner with my friend. We were on our second drink when a doorman approached us and said “Take your hat off now, or get out!”. His manner and tone was quite rude, almost aggressive, and very unnecessary. I was wearing a bowler hat, and dressed smartly ,not a baseball cap , so my face was not covered (understand that’s why some pubs have no baseball cap rule). Don’t understand why he felt the need to speak to me like that, and made me feel quite uncomfortable .Would recommend steering clear of this place, as who needs that kind of aggressive attitude whilst just trying to sit and enjoy your evening.

As last Christmas, we met up with family for a drink and were bombarded with cold air from the air conditioning unit. Once again, we found ourselves sitting in overcoats and woolly scarves. Last year, I had a nice reply to my review from the Manager, Emma, saying they were trying to resolve the problem. Hmmm, it seems a difficult one to solve!

Decided to give the restaurant a visit. It like a staff canteen ordered the meal delivered 10 mins later steak night absolutely fantastic 3 of us enjoyed the steak cooked exactly as ordered. Staff very polite pleasant to deal with had a great evening and have visited for the last 5 weeks. Great service puts other pub meals an unpleasant experience. Well done we are now regulars. Wish Ember could follow this service!!!!!

As I was living one street away from the City Arms it was an easy oiption when I wanted to spend a nice evening with my friends without being in my house.
