Tuesday evening at a lovely pub we found by looking on google, after not having much to eat found pie & drinks on & some cracking ales, if only we lived nearby we’d be in often, a lovely landlady who strives to ensure all is good which it was & made the customer at heart of everything she did, we’ll be back before we leave tho.

Went with family, for Sunday lunch and food, atmosphere and staff all excellent and portion sizes amazing and good quality food and excellent value for money, will definitely go again 👍 👌

What a cracking pub! Visited on the way back home from Glasgow to Herts and the landlords couldn't have been more welcoming. I'll definitely be making it my regular stopover on future trips.

Found this pub on the way to the Peak District for a walk. Excellent food, lovely atmosphere and good price. The steak, Guinness and Stilton pie was awesome and the chips were yummy

visited after walk food was gorgeous gammon and chips comfort food and it was just the job Staff lovely really helpful a 6 month old baby and 2 dogs and they catered for us all would recommend

Called in with friends for a quick pint, stayed a bit longer, great hospitality and a good selection of beer, highly recommend. Not sure if dog friendly, would be back if this is the case,👍

Lovely pub to end a long walk in the beautiful surrounding area. They have a good selection of beers and the menu is nice. I really like the chips here too. The staff are really friendly here too and happy to help. They have a covered outdoor area and a play area if you have kids. I’m 90% sure that they have heaters out there too. All in all, a lovely pub.

Nice food,nothing special was after 12pm and some food was on the menu but not yet prepared.

I gave 3 stars for the food which we all enjoyed but we ordered and was initially charged for a ciabatta prawn sandwiche but a sliced bread sandwich arrived. Service was good but it wasn't noticed our order wasn't correct. However when I pointed it out at the time of payment it was sorted quickly and with an apology. We had two different meat pies off the specials board, very tasty, but we really enjoy vegetables so would have liked a larger portion. (I know some people don't eat much veg) The atmosphere was quiet for a Saturday afternoon. We did enjoy our visit but I was unable to get an alcohol free cider which lots of places stock now. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. I enjoyed seeing the history of the public house via the pictures on the wall and when I asked questions to the lady at the bar she was able to answer them. We would go again.

Having eaten here a few times (the Farmhouse Grill is amazing!!) so when my wife’s mum passed away and the funeral was at the church just down the road it was an obvious choice for the wake. What a fantastic effort by Shelagh and her team. She went to great lengths to ensure that it went without a hitch and the food was incredible, the quiche was absolutely fantastic, best we have ever tasted and the whole thing went perfectly in nice surroundings with a relaxed atmosphere. Just Perfect!!! Thanks to you all. Would highly recommend this venue for any type of function. Or just a great place to eat and enjoy very well prepared food and good drink for a social meal out.

What a nice pub to go and eat . The place was clean and tidy, and the staff was polite and pleasant. We ordered off the specials menu, which came out piping hot and tasted delicious 😋. If you get the right weather there's outside seating and a kids play area.

No body serving behind bar. I was one of a number of customers waiting to be served for over ten minutes before I decided to cut my losses and left to go to another pub for refreshment. Annoyingly, there was a lady taking food orders and the chef who were aware of the the situation at the bar but neither had the forethought to say anything like ‘sorry for the delay, someone will be with you soon!’

This afternoon we had a lovely meal at Church House. Unfortunately there was no Apple Crumble left and the chief came out to apologise. I thought this was a lovely touch as this doesn't often happen when you go to a pub. Thank you Church House what fantastic personal service. 🙂

On a canal boat holiday called in here and had a meal all 4 us had something different and they were all brilliant. Superb service from the lovely young lad at the back of the bar in this lovely welcoming pub.Thank you.

The food was shocking, might have been having an off day but I wouldn't of fed that to a scabby dog. The mushrooms was like rubber. Glad I got the lasagna

Had our leaving do. Sheila was great, reserved an area for us and our friends. Will really miss her and the pub now we are in Bonnie Scotland but will definitely pop in when we visit friends in Macc COYB

For a change of pace today my friend and I both scoffed down the farmhouse mixed grill at some pace despite the glorious sunshine beating down on our brows. I say a change of pace as the usual meal of choice is the steak & stilton pie special which name does not do it any justice as it is absolutely fandabydosy special. I’d go as far as saying the best countryside pub pie I’ve had. This place offers a warm welcome, fantastic fresh wholesome home cooking and value for money. A top choice of your looking for a relaxing countryside pub meal.

Went for a group Christmas set meal mid December. Three course. There were 18 of us and the meal was well organized and served on time, friendly and attentive waiters. The food was delicious. Really enjoyed it. What more can be said we all enjoyed our meals and will definitely be going back.

Have been going in this pub for 20 years as a local and the last 2-3 months the opening hours keep changing by the day and I am forced to go elsewhere,won't be going in again with my men,we are all very anyoyed.

Nice pub near teggs nose and macc forest. Dog friendly. The lad behind the bar even gave us a bowl of water Food looked lush but we didn't eat as just passing on the way home

As always the food was beautifully cooked, plenty of it and good beer on tap. Screens have been removed and it is as friendly as ever. Visited again, would recommend booking a table if wanting to eat on Sunday as they have a constant turnover of customers but as always the food was excellent. This is a great local pub which isn't very big so can get busy definitely recommend

Called in for a meal with 15 others after a walk around Teggs Nose country park. We had booked and were very well looked after. Great place

Drive past this pub every week & sadly never been in until today. OMG what a wonderful surprise!! They had a fantastic band playing called Night-flight that covered songs from Fleetwood Mac too The Eagles and more, the staff are so friendly as are the locals... the food looked & smelt gorgeous so will be definitely eating here, it won't be our last visit & my Bulldog enjoyed the whole experience 🤣😉

Not been here for a while.very friendly staff. decent selection of beers a lagers.just had the fish and chips with a choice of peas, home made tarter sauce.decent size portion cooked perfect. and very good value for the current times. 5 stars thank you church house will be back soon.

Came on a Sunday and had one of the nicest roasts I'd had in ages. Would highly recommend coming here for food and drinks

Visited with the Scooter club, very pleasant establishment in the Cheshire countryside

Bar staff were friendly but that was it. My food was terrible, chips were soggy, overdone and greasy. I ordered the ribeye steak medium-rare, my nephew also ordered one to be rare. They were both well done and were like leather. I only ate one mouthful of my steak. When the owner came to clear the plates she asked if everything was okay, which I suspect was just an automatic response to clearing tables. I said 'no, the steak was massively overdone and showed her' she just said 'oh sorry about that' then proceeded to make small talk with someone else. Given that it was the most expensive thing on the menu I would have expected a bit more sincerity than ignoring my feedback.

Lovely country pub in Sutton. Good choice of beers and food. Large car park and playing area for children. Lovely cups of coffee plus decaf coffee.

Called in with great expectations. I had the Sunday roast (beef). Swimming with gravy all over the Yorkshire pudding and veg. The wife had the small lasagna. Chips were soggy and not much taste in the lasagna. In truth other people were raving over there roast dinner, but sorry, not for me.

Best fish finger butty I've ever had and the chips were proper homemade. Very relaxed and will definitely be back, 👍👍

A very friendly Pub where we ate Lunch after a walk with friends. We reserved the snug as we had 2 dogs. Very tasty good - fried goats cheese with dip & bowls of fries: fish & chips & beef fajitas with rice. All great - we were so full we couldn’t manage desserts! Helpful, cheerful & friendly Staff.

There's a great circular walk, starting & ending within yards of the pub. We called in for a bite when we'd walked. Really friendly, & helpful staff, & good honest food.

Visited recently with friends, their meals, lasagne and small gammon were fine apart from soggy chips. I asked for curry, choices were chicken korma or balti. I ordered korma . The very pleasant and efficient young man waiting on said there maybe only one portion of korma left, I said I'd have the balti if their was no korma, half chips, half rice. My curry, whatever it was, was terrible. It deftinitely wasn't korma, it didn't resemble a balti either. The chicken was cooked to death, grainy and dry. The chips and rice were very soggy. They charged £1.50 extra for half and half , why,? I assume it was for the chips as their was a lot of soggy rice. I told the waiter it wasn't very good, he apologised twice. Next mistake, horrible americano £3 ??????. The cheek of it. The landlady never acknowledged us, even to discuss the curry or apologise herself. I'm so annoyed, £11. 50 FOR A POOR IMITATION OF A CURRY +£1.50 HALF AND HALF AND £3 for a coffee. stick to well known favourites,

Stopped off here on a walk with friends. Only had drinks but the service was good by friendly staff. Food looked nice that people around us ordered. Great outdoor space. Would highly recommend.

Stopped on the off chance of getting lunch after walking the dog. 2pm on a Monday is usually a no go in the countryside. We were welcomed by lovely staff, great undercover outside seating area and fab service. Food and beer were fresh and well presented. Thank you

A very friendly pub with great ale (Brain Storm) and service. The outdoor area was heated which was welcome on a chilly day after a walk up Shuttlingsloe.

Very pleased with the food yesterday evening, all seven of us, great pint of Robinson’s, had to wait a little due to the sun coming out and it getting very busy. Staff were excellent and coped accordingly. Many thanks and will return.

First time back since last year. booked a table with two friends, got seated to nice table clean and a bit of a sun trap. food was really nice, all of us had the fish and chips, good quality. the draught beer was lovely.all staff wore masks while Serving , the toilets were clean. perfect night thank you church house inn, will be back.

Excellent service, only popped in for a drink after our walk, we had the dog with the staff said we could sit in the games room but we prephered to sit out side in the shelter, drinks were brought to us and she checked back later to see if we required another..be rude not to.

Lovely local pub with a big welcome and even bigger portions !! The chicken tempura starter was huge followed by full plates of fish and chips and scampi for mains . The home made chips are AMAZING. Would definitely recommend 5*
