Boskins was recommended, we thought we would give it a try. Unfortunately was not so great. Tea and coffee served quickly, ordered two boskins full English breakfasts, after waiting 40 minutes, server came and what have ordered? We advised two full English breakfasts. We didn't have time to wait a further 40 minutes for it to be cooked. We left. Sadly we will not be returning.

6 of us visited the boskins after competing the annual scarecrow hunt, we didn’t order food just 2 pints of moretti, 2 waters, 2 diet cokes and 3 ice cream cones. As the weather was beautiful and no seats left we sat on the grass outside with lots of other people and we were told that they’re would be a 5 minute wait so would bring everything out to us. This was not a problem but having to wait 50 mins is unacceptable, especially with no cooking involved in this order, when the order did arrive we were missing 1 pint and an ice cream for one of the kids so another 15 min wait to rectify this. This place used to be brilliant under the previous owners, the new owners need to get back to those standards fast. Willing to give it another go as we live in the village and love to support local, really hope it improves.

Called in for some Sunday brunch and have to say it wasn't the best. Ordered coffee/tea with a sausage sandwich and poached egg on toast. We were shown to a table but no menus, I had to hunt down the ones we should have been given. The drinks were prompt and my coffee was nice no complaints there. However the food took 30 mins to arrive (cafe was not busy), the sausage sandwich was ok nothing great but the poached egg came over done and the toast was basically bread, not done. My partner asked for it to be taken back, she was offered something else but I think she was past caring at that stage. Whether there has been a change of owner from earlier reviews? not sure but the basics were poor, the staff young and pleasant but seemed inexperienced, there needs to be an experienced head waiter/waitress overseeing everything who is on the ball, needs big improvements.

Absolutely awful. Family of 3 adults and a young child. Service was appalling: took 20 minutes to get served and then an hour and a half for food. Many couples came and went and were served before us. Waitresses not particularly friendly. Food itself when it finally arrived was poor - overly salted, cheap food. Drinks were fine, and they knocked food off the bill, but didn’t seem overly apologetic. Got the impression they very much preferred to serve locals. Would never return and suggest anybody looking for a nice lunch avoid like the plague.

We stopped here for a light lunch and ordered 2 toasted sandwiches, one chips and 2 soft drinks First the good 1. Food quality very good Not so good 1. ordered a portion of chips, which were included in the meals but not told at the time of placing the order - waitress should have advised me when I placed the order and when the food arrived I commented on this; and was told "that's what you ordered" rather than no problem I will take them back - poor customer service! 2 food wait over 30 mins, longer if I had not chased it up 3. Staff pleasant but disorganized and inexperienced 4 only one queue at counter - 15 mins wait time to pay bill as same queue as customers placing food & drink orders 5. Cost - although the food was very good it was over priced and not competitive with other similar establishments Would I eat here again: Not sure!!!!!

Very, very disappointed. As locals we use Boskins as a 'go to' and have always praised the food and service. Sadly how wrong we were. Booked for 4 for their Christmas menu. On arrival told the pre bookings we had made could not be uphold as they hadn't had the delivery (a table after us were able to have their preorders without problems). 25 minutes after finishing our mains we had no service regarding drinks or puddings. One server decided to bleach the floors around us whilst people were still eating!!! We tried to settle the bill and paid deposits were queried, Christmas offers weren't upheld and the attitude was 'we haven't done it on purpose'. Sadly lacking in any Christmas cheer and won't be revisiting any time soon.

Have to say the food was ok, sandwich with a small side salad but nothing special. A pot of tea which was loose leaf. The cost was £9.50 which I have to admit was steep for what you got. The food was freshly prepared, the quiche, made by the owner, was according to my wife," light and delicious", the club sandwich was "spot on". Both came with salad and we had tea to wash it down. Unfortunately we didn't have room for a cake for "afters" but they all looked just as delicious and again homemade. Family half term visit. The cafe was cold (radiators apparently turned off). Hot chocolate was luke warm and very far from a luxury experience. Children’s pancakes were over cooked and slightly hard. The new ownership here has not done this place any favours at all. My wife and i turned up on Saturday at around 15:00 hrs. The place was emptying out and we were told to take a seat and somebody would take our order. After ten minutes of nobody approached the table, we gave up and walked out. The service in here has previously been that excellent that one of the staff did our wedding flowers, however it is evident that the standards of staff have obviously dropped. On having the time to go through the menu we noticed that the prices had also gone up. It’s a shame standards have slipped as this was a hidden gem. Now it should remain hidden.

Came for lunch with my wife after she had previously been when it was under the management of the previous owners and raves about it. The lunch menu is very limited. We both had a bacon, Brie and onion flatbread, the flatbread was dry and tasteless, the fillings were half hearted and for what we were given it was very over priced. We told the manager about the flatbread being dry and she just said “maybe it’s the cheese”?!? No apology she couldn’t have been less bothered. The cafe was absolutely freezing too and had very little atmosphere. If you have been before and we’re expecting the same quality go food and experience then stay away as you’ll be disappointed. If you haven’t been before don’t bother going and spend your money elsewhere at one of the much better value cafes nearby.

Went to celebrate daughters gcse results last thurs . Been in the past and service has been good . We waited ages to be served . One young waitress was taking orders and cleaning tables while 3 other young people hovered behind counter chatting . An older lady was in kitchen . We eventually ordered cakes and hot drinks . The range of cakes was a lot less than in the past . Two drinks arrived and three cakes . Caramelita and salted caramel brownie were delicious , highly recommended . However the cherry scone was dry and stale so it was sent back . At this stage we still only had 2 drinks . We asked the same young waitress and she said it was on way but had clearly forgotten . We couldn't work out what the other members of staff were doing . After consuming our cakes the hot drink still hadn't arrived so my husband went up to the counter to chase it up , he was very nice about it but was asked my one of the staff " have you never made a mistake in your job ?" . Very rude and completely unapologetic . We feel that the name is a little misleading and could actually deter customers who might not realise that there is much more to this restaurant than just chocolate.Whilst there is a large selection of chocolate based drinks and cakes, the Chocolate Rooms also offer some excellent coffees and a range of teas. The menu features a variety of light bites ('the made on the premises' scones are particularly good), as well as a number of lunchtime specials - look at the specials board. The restaurant prides itself on using Lancashire sourced produce wherever possible - even the coffee is roasted and ground in Clitheroe.Don't expect fast service as each order is individually prepared.Although the restaurant fronts onto the main road through the village, the entrance will be found from the large free car park at the rear of the premises.

I felt sorry for them as they were both really young with only one adult who seemed to be in the back out of sight. It took about 30 minutes for milkshakes which ended up being very tasty but took too long and 45 minutes for a panini which was awful when it came! My drink was forgotten. I had no cutlery for my panini. My first choice sandwich wasn't available. Bits were missing off the milkshake. It's really gone downhill here, we won't be returning.

Waited 18 minutes before order was taken and cutlery was dumped in a pile. Then we waited for meal. Staff all moaning and sullen and only 6 tables taken. Then owner delivered meal and she had the same personality. Meal mediocre quiche salad and asparagus special with bruised fruit. Only realised as we were leaving that in actual fact they have a clipboard menu which we were not given by staff. All in all not a good experience and as attitude and laziness is from the proprietor as well even training would not improve the chocolate rooms so I will not be visiting again.

My friend and I have been to cafe before and everything has always been fine. My friend ordered the soup and sandwich deal and I ordered a sandwich (making it clear that I didn't want butter or spread on the bread, stating quite clearly that I wanted 'dry bread') and tea for two. The manageress came over to tell us that as it was only 11.45am, we would have to wait until 12 noon as that was when they started serving hot food (it was a mug of soup)! We decided to wait, the tea was brought which was only lukewarm, my friend asked for extra warm water which came in a tiny jug. We also had to ask for one of the mugs to be changed as it was dirty. When the sandwiches arrived, my sandwich had butter on it so it had to be changed. The sandwiches were nicely presented and my friend enjoyed her soup. We decided not to bother having cake. Probably won't be going again.

Decaf lattes with 3 kinds of chocolate buttons on the side adds the finishing touch at £2.50 each. The staff are helpful, but if you want the quiche wait until 12 noon when it should be ready. The homemade soups and sandwiches are very interesting and different and of course if you love chocolate whatever kind or colour you'll find it here. Worth a visit, we just keep coming back!

Lovely little place inside and staff are very nice.Cakes lovely and nice coffee. The bread for the sandwiches wasn't the freshest and we didn't get the chocolate buttons as advertised with the children's meal. Overall I'd say average.

Went to the Chocolate Rooms today 12/3/17 on my wife's recommendation as she has been previously and has always had a good experience. On arrival we were told that there would be only soup and sandwiches available, no reason for this was given but we accepted that being a Sunday that might have some impact on what was on offer. We sat down with the menus provided and started to wait and wait and wait, no interaction from the staff, nothing, and there were only 2 other tables occupied. After 20 minutes decided to leave, very disappointing I doubt we will return.

Visited The Chocolate Rooms for the first time today, love love loved it. We had a range of sandwiches and flatbreads and everyone enjoyed them. For dessert we shared the dipping platter and my husband had an amazing chocolate cake. The staff were very helpful and professional. We will definitely recommend and will be coming again soon. Thank you.

Went for lunch and decided on the soup and roll for £4.75. It was a lovely warming homemade chunky vegetable soup and well worth the money for a large bowl we chunky piece of bread. Some of the sandwiches seemed a little expensive for a small cafe in a village but it was busy and had tables reserved. I know it is under new owners but it still has Choc Amour branding and chocolates to buy and nothing seemed to have changed much. Another table we're having the chocolate fruit kebabs (£8). Would definitely go back for the soup. Maybe look at getting some comfortable seats and not plastic chairs

Been before and loved it today was different, the place was cold so we had to keep our coats on despite sitting by radiator which was off. Soup was ok but lukewarm, pate was awful could not eat it not sure what had a very strange after taste have had it here before but was not in a pot.when we sat down the cutlery was thrown at us and the coffee was bitter. Shame so enjoyed it here but alas won't be coming back.

Called in Sunday morning for a coffee and cake The coffee ( one a cappuccino and the other a flat white ) were very weak , tasteless with horrible thin milk ( too much milk ) The scone I had was served hot ( blasted in microwave ) with very cold hard jam from fridge and cream that was probably double cream not clotted just in a small pot The whole experience was a complete letdown and the staff who were milling about had to be asked twice would they take out order . A visit never to be repeated or recommended to anyone .

Four friends and myself visited this establishment after a beautiful walk around Tarleton. The weather had been glorious and we had booked in advance. The waitresses were attentive and we could enjoy our meal. Neither too little nore too much attention, but just right was the universal agreement from all five. The beautiful quiche with a light salad and pickled vegetables was delightful and the carrot and coriander soup, mushrooms on toast and tuna flatbread were equally popular. Various teas served in cafetieres satiated thirsts although it would have been a little optional extra if we could have chosen skimmed milk add opposed to semi skimmed. But that's just a nice to have. Excellent free parking to the rear. Would highly recommend. Ignore negative reviews. ..the waitresses were super. Keep up the good work.

Food was nice however a limited menu Was sat in a corner and felt forgotten about! We where in for quite a while, catching up with an ex work mate so we had a lot to discuss! Would have bought more drinks or cakes if we where asked but as we where not we didn't bother!! It's a real shame as this used to be a really nice place with attentive staff :(

We found our way to this eatery in a village setting thanks to Tripadvisor reviews, and it proved to be a great choice for lunch. Located in an older, character building, this is another place which is completely modern inside. At the back of the building is a large carpark, so easy for parking, and then you enter through doors at the rear of the building. The place clearly appeals to a range of age groups - there were several families with young children, right through to older people being taken to lunch by their adult children. The menu offers a range of choices too, and you can step up to the counter to peruse plenty of sweet things on offer. Our order was taken in good time, and came out in good time too. On a Saturday lunchtime, the service staff were young females who seemed to be well trained. Our daughter ordered one of the expensive hot chocolates - they wouldn't be my kind of thing, but seemed ideal for a treat for youngsters. Of course her hot chocolate was very filling, and meant she couldn't finish her meal! I particularly enjoyed the sandwiches - freshly made, they came with a generous side salad garnish and crisps. For £2 extra, you could add a mug of soup, which was appealing on a winter's day. If you are in the area, this place is a good option for lunch or coffee with a sweet treat.

Called in today for a chocolate tea, no one came for our order so went to the counter to order, paid at the counter also. After a while we left and said goodbye to the staff as we made our exit.. We were into the park when this loud voice shouted. 'HAVE YOU PAID?' We looked at her and she repeated, ' have you paid?' We said ' yes, we have paid'. Not content with that, she then asked if we paid at the counter. Yes, we said. All this across the carpark loudly. She did say sorry, but it was sorry too late. Won't be calling back there anytime soon.

We had an amazing evening at the scullery. The quality of the food was excellent with large portion sizes. The servers were attentive and regularly checked we were happy with the food. Luis was brilliant throughout the evening and he made it a special evening. The live entertainment was an added bonus. We will definitely be visiting more regularly in the future.

Awful customer service. Short server with dyed blind hair really rude when simply asked for flavours of frappes. Took an interest while drinking our drinks and she was equally obnoxious with 200% of customers. 50% of tables not cleared and floor littered with discarded tissues. Place half empty on a busy market Saturday. 6 other coffee houses within 100 metres. Clearly people voting with their feet Server in question looked hungover, regularly going into back kitchen for 5 minutes breaks leaving a young server alone to cope. Fortunately, not too many customers to worry about. Starbucks next visit I think...
