The Chip Shed in Warwick

I had a great meal at the chip shed, my friends had told me how good it was and it didn't disappoint. Stand out of the night was the service from Georgia, she was friendly, conversational and completely right about the curry sauce!

We were served by a really nice gentleman I think we caught his name (Leo?). He was very attentive and kind to us, I would even go as far to say that he deserves a pay rise!! And the food was fantastic too! Will 100% be returning.

Amazing gluten free options. Portions are quite big! All staff have been very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend! :)

The Service and the Fish, Chips & Mushy Peas with Tea & Coffee were SUPERB. We went for Dinner But we are sure All the Meals are of a Very High Standard. We Highly recommend this establishment.

After struggling up the hill to the chip shed in warwick ( I have walking issues due to a back condition) we were told by the female member of staff behind the counter that if we wanted to eat our meals at one of the many empty tables inside we would be charge £5 per meal on top of the cost of the food to eat inside. Needless to say we left and made other arrangments. Anyone with any sort of mobility issue or disability needs to avoid this establishment and find somewhere else to eat. An absolutely disgusting attitude to customers with health issues. The staff member in question definately needs an attitude adjustment and some training urgently.

Chose what we wanted and mentioned we would like to eat in We were then told it was an extra five pounds per meal to sit at a table! We are a very respectable looking couple and did notice no one was eating in presumably this is why

We knew it would be good as they were really busy. My wife and grandson had traditional Fish&Chips, which were excellent, and I had battered Halloumi & Chips. Nice that we could sit in and it is licensed. We will be back.

I’ve been told that the chips here are fantastic . Maybe today was an off day but my regular chips at a cost of £3.85 were lacking in volume, value and taste, disappointingly poor.

Very poor cod and chips. Found it difficult to find any fish - all hard greasy battered. The chips looked and tasted like old chips

I have been to the chip shed many of times and normally the food is good but lately the portion has gotten smaller and also the fish still had the skin on which has put me off me of fish for a while. It will be a while before I go back there again which is a shame.

My husband and I had cod and chips. The fish was dry and the batter was overcooked and very fatty. The chips were hard and dry. Very disappointing. I would not recommend them

Really enjoyable cod and chips with very tasty and generous portion of curry sauce. Also one of the nicest ciders I have had (which I was told was from Hawkstone brewery at Diddly Squat Farm). Served fairly quickly and food was piping hot. Gorgeous white fish and very crispy batter, yum. Staff seemed rushed despite restaurant not being overly busy, but didn't bother us as we had what we needed! One guy did come over and apologise for not being more attentive. Restaurant has nice vibe and plenty of space to sit in. Only slight gripe was that the unisex toilets were not particularly clean. Left feeling full and happy - would return!

Old chips and greasy chicken nuggets. Overpriced. Had four or five nuggets with chips. Chips fit for the bin and nuggets greasy and horrible. Rubbish service.

The oil was clearly very old, and the fish was drenched in it. Both myself and my partner opted for the groundnut oil and it tasted like it hadn’t been changed. The chips were undercooked. The ketchup was in a refillable bottle and tasted off, as if it hadn’t been washed in between being refilled. After eating here, my partner and I were ill all weekend. Would not recommend.

As you will see I don't often write reviews on here which shows the majority of time im very happy with the service I receive from restaurants/take away etc. I have been coming here for a long time but usually someone else collects the order. I happened to on Saturday and thank goodness I did. It meant I could actually see how unsafe this place is. I was the only person waiting to collect my order and there were 3 members of staff behind the counter. A lad with glasses who was following the rules and had his mask on properly, an man who had his mask under his nose and then a lady with short blond hair who had her mask underneath her mouth all whilst handling food etc. Luckily the young lad served me but this just isnt good enough. It really is such a basic ask. I know its annoying and not pleasant to have to have a mask on all the time but that's the only way we will get back to normality.

I ordered my food to be collected at 7pm, I had ordered some Thai food for the same time for my wife, I was told it would be ready at 7.05 once I arrived to collect the food, 25 mins later the food was was still not ready, I asked when it would be ready and was told 2 mins it’s nearly ready, I waited a further 10 mins and watched how people had walked in and ordered there food directly at the counter and only had to wait 10 mins.I asked to speak to the owner and was told he is never here and was directed to the manager only to be told that they have been extremely busy, I replied by saying that walk in’s are getting there food in 10, he offered no apology or even said I could cancel my order.I will never go back to chip shed ever again.

This afternoon I called to order food from the chip shed in warwick for my family. 30 minutes later at 4.30 I drove to collect my order. I got home 15 minutes later to discover the order was incomplete and food was missing. Much to the upset of our daughter. I called the shop and spoke to a woman who took my name and number and told me the manager would contact me that evening. No phone call of apology was made and I am due a refund for food I never received. For the prices they charge you expect better. This is definitely not a reliable chip shop unless you want an incomplete order. Terrible service and a venue I will never use again as a local resident. Appalling. I've been conned and now out of pocket.

A typically busy Friday evening, however could not get through on the phone to place my order. Finally placed my order on the website and collected at the relevant time. Staff were clearly unable to cope with the demand (say 10 people waiting) no salt or pepper offered on the chips and fish was cold. We have had many positive experiences from the Chip Shed Warwick, however this is the second time we have experience poor customer service. Definitely puts us off using them again!

I have had very good and I’ve had very bad. The foods Luke warm and clearly not fresh. Sometimes you get lemon with your fish, sometimes you don’t. I’ve had chips from here that have been black and clearly very old, greasy and again Luke warm. Make sure you go when it’s busy that way you won’t get rubbish.

We regularly have a takeaway from here and have never had a bad experience! The chips are always hot and fresh and the pies are to die for! We usually order online and collect at the window which has been fantastic in these covid times! Today I stupidly ordered for the wrong time which meant they had to throw my order away and cook fresh.. they did this without any hassle and didn’t ask for a further payment which I am hugely grateful for. Thankyou Chip Shed Warwick we will continue to order and enjoy your delicious takeaway food!

Fabulous fish & chips. The gluten free choices are amazing and taste amazing! Highly recommended. Their website for ordering/ collection is also clear, quick and easy to use!

I don't usually give reviews but I am doing so because of how badly me and my family were treated in this place by a member of staff. A young girl with blonde hair was extremely rude, uncaring and impolite. I was so taken aback by her behaviour that I couldn't speak. Because of this unfortunately I wouldn't visit again. Would give 0 stars but not possible.

The fish and chips are usually lovely from here. So when we had to wait over and hour and another 30 mins outside for our order we thought it’d be worth it. I stupidly ordered a chicken kebab which came drier than sand and with one leave of lettuce! The meat was like chicken tikka you buy from the supermarket.. I threw it in the bin after three bites.. will not be going back the wait is NOT worth it unless your ordering fish! And the chips were old and burnt!

Usually I love The Chip Shed. Everything is always fresh, always of a good quality and I’d forgo the chippys near me for this. However on Friday the food was terrible (giving two stars purely because I know they can do better). The food was given to me after my designated collection time which would be understandable if it was fresh but it was the opposite. Cold, greasy and just really bad. Everything was awful apart from the sausage (fish was truly horrible, Calamari, Kebab & Halloumi were also terrible). Very disappointing given how many times it’s been brilliant but the standards slipped badly and probably wouldn’t go back based on that last experience. Maybe it was a one off but it’s no better than your average local chippy (probably worse) based on my last experience.

What should have been a quick lunch for 3 ended up taking well over an hour. Ordered as soon as we arrived for eat-in. The restaurant had one other table of 6 but given that everyone is ordering nearly the same meal you’d expect fish and chips to take max 20 mins to arrive. Enquired about the meal half an hour in, advised it was coming but it still didn’t. When it finally arrived I flagged that 45 minutes was an excessive wait for fish and chips- totally unapologetic, in fact they printed off the receipt to check my timings were correct! Finally the meal was underwhelming, tiny portions. Overall view is that this place is not worth the hassle, stick to your local, no nonsense chippy!

Had high hopes after reading the reviews the price was excellent it was a shame the food was so greasy. Chips were scrappy and the fish was thin but in the thicker parts cooked nicely. Curry sauce didn’t have a nice flavour but the tarts sauce was extra garlicky something which I enjoyed but wasn’t to everyone’s taste. It was a little chaotic when ordering due to the covid measures in place but glad they have them. Also really nice to see the staff wearing masks shame that there were customers in the restaurant obviously without masks off which slightly put me off due to the risk of the virus being airborne!!

Absolutely excellent fresh fish and chips, plus a tasty local IPA to wash it down! Despite not having booked they gave us a table straight away in the cute little dining room, portions were generous and all our food was perfect - so much so that I didn't even get a sniff of my daughter's deep fried halloumi or my wife's scampi...We'd come back to Warwick just for another visit, it was that good - thanks and keep up the good work!(and FWIW also had robust covid security measures, including contactless payment)

I’m always impressed with the food at the Chip Shed which is why I still occasionally visit but after going today, I won’t return. I always find it a bit fishy (pun intended!) that they’ve never accepted card payments but in the midst of a pandemic when even the Gov guidelines for making your takeaway Covid secure, for both (section 2.2 point 6) staff and customers recommend ‘contactless payment’, I think it’s unacceptable that they are still (and expect their customers) to exchange cash. I could almost see the germs on the grubby note I was given which I have now put into quarantine! Contactless payment and rigging it up is not difficult!

was staying nearby and fancied a chippy tea, wow did we make the right choice.we decided to eat in, was served by a very polite young man,food was cooked to order, was very well cooked, and tasty, unfortunately i couldn't finish my chips, good portion sizes, make sure your really hungry, would definitely recommend , will be back again when in the area.

WOW! The fish and chips at the Chip Shed are amazing. The portions are very generous and my children loved the food. I must say the chips weren’t greasy and the batter wasn’t dripping in oil. The staff were very accommodating as well. We stayed at the Hilton Hotel down the road and I also saw a few people doing take-away orders. Great place to eat keep doing a great job!

The chip shed is well worth a visit when in Warwick. Great chips and during this time really well thought out COVID safety for takeaway. The young lady serving was doing a sterling job on a busy Saturday night. Very convenient for the campsite at the race course.

Visited here for tea as we were staying at Warwick Castle and it's only a short walk from our accommodation. We had a variety of food including fish and chips, sausage and chicken bites. Everything was excellent quality and the portion sizes were more than big enough to feed all of us and the pricing was very fair. I ordered and paid online the night before so all I had to do was pick up at the designated time. When we're next in Warwick I'll definitely be coming back.

After searching for a decent chippy near our hotel, the chip shed came up and had good reviews so messaged them to book a table, easy, message straight back saying not a problem and table booked. Simple menu (although no kids option) fish and chips all round with sides and drinks. Can not fault anything, lovely food, quick service, and friendly staff. Will definatley visit again when we are in Warwick again. Went prepared with cash as this is only payment method that take.

After a visit to Warwick Castle, we wanted to find somewhere quick and easy to grab dinner. Found The Chip Shed located just outside (turn right out of the Warwick Castle exit) and got sausage and chips all round - included vegetarian sausages for me :-) Very yummy. :-)

Based on the rave reviews we went there on Saturday night just before closing in order to get some food as we were famished.First impression was not the best as the one way access entry was dirty and some litter flying around.We ve made our way in and we were 'welcomed' by a stench of rotting fish. It was so bad that my hubby was actually sick and had to run outside on the street.I did not order anything and left. It was shocking to see just how smelly it was. Based on our experience I am not sure how did they get their Hygene rating and how can they still cater for people. I have never ever experienced anything like it and we are huge seafood and fish lovers.Safe to say we wont be returning and cannot recommend this place to anyone.

Had takeaway chip from here and I have to say that they are some of the best chips that I have ever had

Have eaten in here on a few occasions and had take outs too, always been really good quality. Chips we had tonight were RUBBISH, very overcooked, greasy and chewy, most went in the bin. I can only think these chips had been 'hanging around' and 'fresh cooked ' chips given to those who pre ordered (?) What a massive disappointment, once the quality goes it doesn't take long to lose a good reputation.

We dined in with our 2 children .. and had an exceptionally good meal. We called late and were accommodated with out any issues. We ordered and enjoyed watching our food being cooked. The batter is exceptional, light and crispy. Outstanding. I had a local beer (cant remember its name but it had a picture of a bee on the lable) - georgeous and went so well with the fish and chips. I cant reccomend this restaurant highly enough. We ate in but they also do takeaway. We parked at the race course public car park ... about 5 mins walk away. Beware, they only accept cash at the moment .. but there is an ATM at a garage a short way away. They are getting a machine but for now ... bring cash. Depending on what you have, perhaps budget for £15-20 per person and you should be ok.Over all ... an exceptional meal and highly recommended. Thank you for looking after us so late in the evening.

Had Haddock chips here a few times as a takeaway previously and during lockdownI like the pre order service . The flavour is always lovely but lukewarm tonight which was a shame The last couple times the mushy peas have been very sweet . Not sure if this is just me ?Overall great chippy

During lockdown we have had a takeaway every couple of weeks. These really are the best haddock and chips in town and consistently so. Curry sauce to die for! Excellent work!

The best fish and chips in Warwickshire! Fab range of options, including vegetarian. The fried halloumi is to die for, but then again, so is the cod and, of course, the chips! And wack some of the remaining chips between a folded slice of buttered white bread and you have yourself a fab chip butty. Enjoy!

Awesome... during lockdown this has now become our weekly Friday family treat..!! Great chips and fish and always prompt.

It's bank holiday Monday and we needed a food fix. Where better to head than the best fish and chip shop in the area. Our thanks to the staff for maintaining their great food quality and service despite the difficult times.

During "Lockdown" they are still nailing it. The very best quality Fish & Chips anywhere. Our cod tonight was faultless.. Staff attentive and friendly. Great value.

Not a ‘dine in house’ review, more a ‘dine at home’, due to the current lockdown, but 10/10 to the staff at The Chip Shed, Warwick for providing to order the very best fish and chips hereabouts, for us to enjoy at home.My goodness, they tasted amazing!We will, of course, be back for more.Thank you for working throughout this tricky time.

We haven't had a takeaway before from here but tried it based on recommendations and definitely pleased.You pre order and pay foryour take away and are then given a 5 minute slot. You pick up from a side window so social distancing. Each meal was in its own box and was hot and good portion size.The food was ready was hot and absolutely delicious. Really well done for them adapting their business in these difficult times and delivering a fantastic local service :0)

Pre -ordered haddock and chips with curry sauce for collection tonight, and it was delicious. Light crispy batter, perfectly cooked fish, and soft and crispy chips. A ray of sunshine in the misery of self distancing. Ordering was easy, was even able to update my order to add a couple more items, and it was there to collect right on time, and piping hot. Cannot ask for more. Thank you TCS.

Traveled from Nottingham for weekend, looked online for a good fish & chips shop, saw this one. Was a bit of a drive, but worth every mile! 10/10 for good food and polite service perfect! Thank you.

Went here on Thursday 12th March.. first time eating here with the wife..she had the vegetarian pie and chips I had the chicken pie and chips...the pies were amazing so many pieces of proper chicken in mine..the wife said her veg pie was the best she ever had...give this place a go..I'm sure you won't be disappointed

High prices, long wait,rude staff and when something is eventually cooked someone who has rung in an order gets it and you have to start queuing again. A “hello or thank you” would also be nice. Tried three times. Now go elsewhere

One of the best chippys I think I’ve ever visited! I was amazed at the veggie options (I got the battered halloumi) plus great drink options (I got a homemade chocolate milkshake) and the food was just delicious, very well made and you didn’t come away feeling sickly full afterwards. Highly recommend!

Have to admit to not having many takeaways but The Chip Shed has to be the exception............just what you need on a cold, very windy Saturday evening having just left the Beer Festival at The Lord Leycester Hospital........perfect in every way. Portion of chips huge!! Must remember next time & there will be a next time!! Fish (haddock) very tasty and the batter is gorgeous and so light you would hardly know it was there. So if you are in Warwick and crave fish & chips The Chip Shed is your first port of call.......enjoy!!

Used to go here many years ago so we thought we would pop in after a day in Warwick as I told the wife this is a good chippy I ordered 1 portion of chips and southern fried chicken and chips well it all looked lovely in the boxes until I got back to the car took a bite of the chicken and coating I can only describe as a hard coating of gunk all greasy inside I could pull the whole of the coating off it was like a hollow rock and the chips weren’t much better either never again

As others have said, there are a few tables at the back of a chippy. It was a cold evening and I was cold sitting down. Distinct draft when doors were opened. There was a small portable heater but didn't seem to be having much effect.

This is a proper chippy, great haddock, chips and mush peas (please could you get some Dandelion and Burdock, its a northern thing ;-))

Cash only, deal with it. Just get some money out. It’s proper fish and chips, done right, cooked well. It’s quite the wait, but because it’s busy. It’s really busy. It’s worth every bit of money and time.

We had just arrived in London from the states that morning and drove up to Warwick for the night. As am American, I was always told that you cannot get true fish and chips outside the UK which is absolutely true, and this place delivers. The fish and chips and even the curry and tartar sauce were the best anywhere in the UK.. We traveled across England, Scotland and Wales and did not find its equal. You won't be disappointed!

Post race meeting tea and excellent haddock in really nice batter, chips ok but could have been a little more crisp outside, peas were good. Nice bottle of Bathams made for a very pleasant meal.

Amazing. So glad I popped in on impulse. Great funky music, fab atmosphere, licensed. Home made tartar sauce is to die for and the chips are just the best I've tasted, genuinely. Wish I lived closer

Amazing food. A wide range of foods from well cooked fish in crispy batter to fried halloumi in the same incredible batter! Best fish and chip place I’ve ever been to.

The fish and chips were excellent and the staff friendly. We ate in but there is a take out service. We both tried deep fried Brussel Sprouts for the first and probably the last time.

as a groups of 8 we were looking for somewhere to eat on Saturday night and this place was ace. we booked a table and all had a traditional fish and chips with some beers, the deep fried haloumi was to die for. also a very good price. will go again when in Warwick.

As long as you know about cash only payment it's a fantastic place. We've just had fish and chips here as a group of 11 and can't fault it. If we were staying in the area we would certainly come again

Forget the moaners talking about cash. This place makes the most incredible chips - everything else is just a bonus (oh the batter is so light) most chip shops locally either charge you too much and then the batter is so thick and greasy - not here. Go and enjoy!!

This place was recommended to me by a work colleague. I booked it, but was disappointed on arrival. It was just a chipshop with a few tables at the back. Service wasn't great and I expected it to be different to what it actually was. However the food was good, but no different to any other chip shop

Went there yesterday. In summary, lovely fish and chip and pretty reasonable prices. The lad serving us was working hard and made sure everything was all good. We were a bit surprised that it is cash only. We and the couple opposite had to nip to the cash point in order to pay. I know card companies charge a little but surely they can just absorb this or add a few pence to the price.

A great place to stop for lunch for really high quality chippy food. I’ve visited a couple of times now and been pleased both times. First time I had scampi and chips and the second time battered halloumi and chips I can highly reccomend both. Good value for money and quick friendly service

The food was great I really like the cod because the fish and the fries are both nice and crispy and good.

Friendly attentive staff, spotless restaurant and the freshly cooked fish and chips were delicious and very reasonably priced. This is well worth a visit.

We visited here early evening on the 31st of August. We came here after seeing it was up for an award and read that they used beer batter. We also read that they offer Gluten-free.

Have visited perhaps six times with family this year. We really think this is the best fish and chip restaurant to which we have access, locally. It's the batter and cooking in lard that makes the difference.

Unfortunately became seriously ill. Never mind, live in Warwick, saw chip shed reviews, and adore Whitby Fish and chips. Husband returned with very expensive, yuppie friendly, biodegradable cardboard and paper packaging. My haddock was perfectly cooked and battered. However the chips. Greyish yellow. of solid shape and with no breaking edges. Ate one . No crispiness and no soft centre. I ate no more. Who gives chip shops these rewards, probably the same people who award our mediocre indians the "best in Warwick" or the "best in England"

food was great and reasonable price I would eat here again but I would avoid the curry sauce not great

Excellent food and service. Special mention to Rowan who was extremely attentive and lovely. At one point in the evening he was even down in his hands and knees looking for a child’s tooth that had fallen on the floor! What a star! A real asset to the business

we was walking back o our parked car and passed the chip shed. needing something to keep us going we popped in for a small portion of chips which was more than enough for us two. great value to start. the staff were friendly helpful and polite only to pleased to serve us. and to top it all these were some of the best chip shop chips weve had for many a year. having come from an original seaside town they must be great. thank you.

Went here yesterday and I have to say what a lovely chip shop. We sat in the restaurant which was really sweet. Food tasted lovely, all freshly cooked. Staff were wonderful, attentive and friendly. Would deffinately recommend and would happily return. Well worth a visit.

Had a fantastic all round experience. Service, food and atmosphere was bang on. Would highly recommend!
