Excellent fish and chips. The cod was an extremely generous portion lovely light crispy batter and the cod white and full of flavour, the same goes for my husbands choice of Haddock. Freshly cooked chips good too. Definitely recommend if you like Cod and Haddock 👍

With changes of management, it used to be slightly better than average, got really good then went downhill. At the moment, this is SUPERB! Not cheap but very, very high quality. Used to be School Lane for us but while that is still good Friends is now our default...

What a find 👍. Of late we have been very disappointed with the local Kenilworth chippies re the fish and batter quality, so decided tonight to try Friends. Both my cod and my husbands haddock were excellent lovely white flavourful fish and light tasty batter and both pieces of fish very generous in size. Chips were good too. Might a little bit pricier than some others but so worth it for the quality.

Although we were the only people eating in ,we were welcomed with our Foster puppy Sally who is just starting her advanced training ,we always phone before on our first visit with our dogs ,to make sure that dogs are allowed ,and tell them our foster pup is in training then there is no mix up .I must say our new pup of just two weeks with us behaved exceptionally well ,not once did she move until we were ready to go ,WEll Done SALLY you are a 🌟 Fish and chips was freshly cooked excellent Friends looking forward to or next visit . Spotlessly clean also .

Very nice fish and donor with chips. A bit pricy compared to others. I ordered too much and thought I won’t be able to finish but food was so good I ate too much.

This is a great fish & chips shop. The food is always freshly and perfectly cooked. The staff are always welcoming and the prices are always very reasonable.. It is our favourite town chip shop.

came in for a small chips and curry sauce food was great and got served by a young lady who was very quick at what she was doing. customer service was great and food came out very fast.10/10

I have fish and chips from here on a regular basis and this is definitely the best fish and chip shop in Kenilworth.

Embarrassingly small kebabs. Thought they’d put an empty cardboard tray in the bag. Had to go back out and and get a main course. Avoid if you’re anywhere near hungry. Smaller than a kids portion.

I think this may have changed hands again! Lunch was prepared fairly quickly and was very tasty. The chips were not as crispy was we like but I guess that's personal taste. Sometimes this is the only chip shop open and close so for us it is a welcome addition to the town.

Under new management. Portion sizes are very small. I have been twice in the last week and the large chips are half the size of the local competition.

Just had a portion of chips from here apart from waiting for 10mins the were undercooked and stale. Will not return

tiny portions for more money, served in small posh box. if you don't want to pay for the box and get more chips, go to 'Chips and Fishes' around the corner instead. Its better.

Awful tonight. Will not return. Woman did not understand the menu or what she was meant to be cooking l ordered a Lamb Shish and a kofta kebabs. Took forever to prepare and ended up with a portion of cold chips and some kind of meat pieces. No pitta, nothing. Called to complain numerous times, not answering phone. I will be expecting a refund in the morning when someone competent to deal with it is in.

my girlfriend ordered 2 cheeseburgers yesterday, my cheeseburger was nasty, it's tasted like a rustlers microwave packaged burger, i've had them before so i know, the burger wasn't hot enough, parts of the burger was rock hard on the outside and i had to split it out, this establishment has lost it's measure, the food was excellent before

I had a small chicken Donner meat and chips with salad for £7. Prices are okay as it was tasty. Didn't have any lamb Donner meat which was the only down part. Overall I would recommend it.

Friends has had a chequered history over the years, sometimes good but more often mediocre or horrible. The present incarnation is wonderful. Lovely fresh fish and chips right up there with the wonderful Alfie Grimshaws (not to be confused with the now awful shop on Priory road). Do try their Kofta and chips

Probably the best chips in Kenilworth

The chips actually feel like they’ve been cut from a real potato! They are fresh and piping hot, the fish and pies always taste freshly cooked. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Absolutely no complaints! We ordered mini fish and chips - everything was cooked fresh and the food wasn’t too greasy. The staff are very friendly. Definitely the best chippy in Kenilworth now.

Pretty poor, they cooked Cod and chips fresh but sadly it was still very poor, anaemic chips , batter not crispy, such a shame but I guess that’s why no one else was here even on a Saturday evening

NEW OWNERS! Went for haddock, roe and chips, this lunchtime. My first impression was how clean it looked, always a good start. Lady and Gent behind counter were so polite and pleasant. Another good start. When something is too good to be true, it usually is! Not at all, in this case. The chips were just right. Not dry and not greasy. I'm fed up of chip shops giving me soggy batter, which is half cooked! Passed the test, easily! Crispy and fish was fresh and tasty. Can't fault these new owners! Glad I've found a good chippy again. The other one I used had stopped doing haddock, so that's why I've swapped. Glad I have!

Thought id give this place a try . Got chicken meat & chips well what can i say but it was awful grey colour and could make some one really ill or even death . Pls think before buy chicken from this place 🤢🤢🤢

First visit. Best Chicken doner kebabs I have had in many a year! Run by a friendly couple from Turkey and I could tell the authenticity, with regards to this dish anyway! It was succulent and melt in the mouth delicious, a far cry from the usual 'rubbery' fare I've had in the past. Definitely worth a visit. Looking forward to when they introduce Lamb kebabs!

First and last time I will be going here. Ordered chicken donar and chips with salad. Ended up with a huge box chips, chicken skin and a slice of tomatoe. Literally only had one tiny bit of real chicken meat! Given up and now cooking dinner instead as we can't eat it

The chips were huge and the taste was horrible. The fish batter was soggy, despite it being freshly cooked. I've been spoilt by the Chipshed in Warwick.

Got two meals , chips and mushy peas , and chips , pie and mushy peas . Despite the shop being quite busy it seems they are completely incapable of cooking the simplest food ! The chips and peas were stone cold despite just coming out of the fryer , the pie must have been at least a week old ! It was so burnt I couldn’t even bite it ! I wouldn’t give it to the dog if it was starving ! I was reluctant to even feed it to the bin in case it got sick 🤢 the worst meal I’ve ever purchased , avoid at all costs unless you want a week off work ! With friends like this you’ll never need an enemy !

This has got to be the worst fishing chips in the UK! Cold chips and bad Bad tasting that sausage, that I am not sure what meat it was. Avoid this place at all costs.

We ordered a large chips, chicken burger, battered sausage, chicken doner burger and gravy on the side. The large chips were just enough for two people, not excessive in portion size, and at £3.30, definitely overpriced. Those that had managed to be “cooked” were soggy, otherwise the chips were undercooked at best and occasionally with an odd metallic taste. The Chicken doner burger was cold, tasted off and at a bite which included some bone, I spat it out and donated it to my bin. The gravy, which you may be presumptuous in thinking could not go wrong, could have been used to grout a bathroom. It was lumpy and when the tub was held upside down, the gravy defied gravity. We will never be going here again and encourage all others to save themselves. Additionally, during a lockdown at the time of this review, there were no screens present in the premises and all three staff members serving were not wearing masks.

Cold dry chips and over cooked pie

Absolutely disgusting!!! Had a pie from them today and not only was it cold it was frozen in the middle, I will be reporting to local trading standards/council

This place used to be good but I went on Friday lunchtime and it was awful. It’s been taken over and the 2 guys there were very disorganised. Everybody waited over 20mins and then when it came to pay they announced it was cash only as the card machine wasn’t set up. The food was really bad, chicken nuggets were actually not edible. Needless to say I won’t be visiting again.

Absolutely terrible food, chips cold and had clearly been cooked for hours. Batter on mini fish undercooked and soggy. Would never use this fish and chip again. Waste of £10!

Was told over the phone my order would be 20 minutes. When I arrived they said I had to wait another 15 minutes because the machine to cook the southern fried chicken still needed to heat up. I'm guessing they had turned off the machine because it wasn't busy but that shouldn't be happening. The top priority is serving customers food quickly, right? Fast food, not slow food. At the very least they should have estimated the time correctly. When I got the chicken it was a little overcooked but the chips were good.

I have been there few times and always had some great fast food (kebabs and other). Great variety of products and excellent service. Can't really explain the few 1 star rating below since the majority of clients give excellent overviews. I think it is obvious they are either competitors from Kenilworth or someone who's interest is to blame them, have seen the same thing on a FB post. Not fair for this small business.

Ordered a big meal. Kebab was really good, fried chicken was really good. Burger was huge and had the chips 3 days later and they still tasted peng.

Very nice fast food. Staff is friendly and the shop is one of the cleanest i saw. When visiting the Kenilworth Castle we had a few choices around but decided on Friends because of the food and prices... the fish was one and a half foot long... Chips are crispy and portions are huge. Would definitely eat there again.

Lovely place, has a little bit of charm

Just on the way back from another fantastic experience with the guys in this chip shop.. I'm not the biggest fan of chips so can't comment but almost everythin else I've had from there is bangin. Coupled w/ good customer service, its more than worth investing in your local small business 🏆

Well organised freshly cooked fish and chips. Staff attentive, polite and good covid measures They need to spend more on their burger patties though as the burger I ordered was let down by the meat.

This is the best chippy imo and Their lamb doner is nothing like anywhere else. It’s so juicy and delicious, not like some other places. Excellent menu choices and a lovely service!! Their southern fried chicken is nice too. You could tell that they care about their food and love cooking. Will be back soon

Ideal being able to order from 11.00 a.m. Food has really deteriorated since last visit. Thinnest piece of plaice imaginable, v poor chips. Will not be returning!

Ordered fish and chips. Chips are oversized and unpalatable. Fish was below par with soggy batter. Lukewarm. Would not use this establishment again . Threw most of it away. Very disapointed.

I've used this place a couple of times now and each time it's been great, the chips are really chunky and very tasty and the fish and kebab meats have been delicious. I can certainly recommend if you fancy a good chippy, with excellent and friendly service.

Love this place. Unfortunately I am from coventry so this is my go to place when I work evenings in Kenilworth. A welcome treat! Best chip shop I have eaten from, the chips are huge but always cooked to perfection! The lamb doner here is top quality as well. Always a smile and warm welcome. Definitely try Friends for a satisfying meal :-p

One the best fish and chips i have ever had! It's made from the whole fresh fish, deliciously butterd and fried. Also the chips are chunky and generous. I look forward to going back soon. I would recommend it to all my friends and family.

Nicely cooked fish. Enough chips for the neighborhood. We regularly get food from there and often times request them to be less generous as 4 fish and chips is enough of the chips for 8 people. You can eat in as well which is a bonus.

Worst chips ever they cool down then the owner thinks it's a good idea to put them back in the fat a seagull pinched one of my chips and spat it out my mate rolo was sick after eating here then I had to deliver his avon catalogue for him

Very poor chips, owner has very confontational attitude and a hidden £2.50 charge per meal for eating in, no sign or notice to state this charge. Definitely avoid, there are far better chip shops in Kenilworth than this.

Beautiful and clean, good service

One of the best chip shops I've ever been to, lots of choices on top of all the usual items. Great quality food and a lot of care taken putting your meal together. We just moved to the area and Friends will definitely be our local chippy now 👌
