Really sad, so so late and arguing with me that my post code is wrong and it’s not…. The food is cold as it’s 30 mins late and driver went to completely the wrong place. Normally food is amazing and not had issue with delivery before.

After a message to say food was ready for collection, I was still waiting 30 minutes later. Mushy peas were like frozen peas covered in pond water and chicken kebab was half what I can only describe as chicken skin… won’t be going back after previous good food and experience

food arrived a little late but was hot on delivery and food was excellent... well worth the wait

Unfortunately Alfie has turned out to be Grim again, last time we ordered, the order got cancelled because they couldn;t retrieve the payment from the website we ordered from - even though the money had been taken from our account and had to be refunded and lo and behold its happened again. Would not recommend using them, you are better off going elsewhere

missing food items as well as obsurd lateness

If you’ve got half an hour to waste waiting for the food to be cooked then by all means try it. I don’t know how it can possibly be so slow when you know it’s going to be busier - on a Friday evening for example. Is it really that difficult to have some chips cooked ready? I dread to think how long it would take if I ordered more than two items.

Delicious food delivered quickly, great!

Order 2 pizzas, one was the wrong toppings and completely burnt and the other the base was very doughy.

Food was delicious, delivery was as fast as the driver & Alfie could manage on a busy Friday night!

Took more than 90 minutes to arrive on a Thursday evening and was distinctly average when it did arrive with no apology or even acknowledgement of how late it was.

Thank you so much for such a lovely chunky piece of cod. It was just what I needed and was totally delicious. Everything arrived piping hot and the chips were plentiful. Enough for the dogs to enjoy a taster! I’ll definitely come back.

Rude staff the women who works here slags you off talks about you makes out you don’t say things when you do the boss thinks it’s acceptable to shout at you over the phone when you have a issue give me gone off cod which I couldn’t eat as it was awful I’m all for praising companies and helping them due to what our government do to us but I will not be supporting a company that thinks it’s okay to sell gone of products and then shout at you when you tell them just poor customer service and then says you complain all the time when that was the only time I’ve even said anything and saying I know who you are where you live thinking you’re going scare me honestly is awful

Shocking customer "service", if you can call it that. Ordered @4.30 for 5.30pm delivery. Arrived at 6.30pm. did phone many time in the waiting hour and got hung up on repeatedly.

Ordered a portion of chip's and a curry sauce not that difficult,the chip were awful what few was a edible size were raw in the middle and the rest of them was scratty little bits that most half decent chip shops would throw away,poor Dave must be spinning in his grave

Awful fish & chips. Really greasy. So greasy that the oil leaked out of the fish & chips box & leaked through to the paper bag. Chips were soggy. Worse fish & chips ever, will not return. Customer service not that great & long wait when not even that busy

Tried them a few times always late if it arrives at all. Always cold and day old chips Tired calling owner who dosnt sound bothered at all. Given up using them now will go elsewhere

I went on this location, and food is very good and behavior of the staff is very polite specially the girl dealing with customer.

Came at 12:49 as advertised open from 12-2 and it wasn't open. Very disappointing

Food was vile, sweaty undercooked chips, pizza was greasy and tasted undercooked, kebab was sweaty and halloumi was burnt and pitta was all ripped looked thrown together, through it all away, took over a hour to arrive aswell

Chips at least a day old served to a regular customer. Shame on you.

Low quality half cooked Chips for shocking prices. There are much better Chippies in Kenilworth. Chicken Doner was just some Chicken pieces in Curry Sauce and rolled in a thin bread. Typical Station road rip off !!

I have been visiting Alfie Grimshaw for over a year now, almost every weekend, and I usually order the same: Kebab and Chips. Probably, I have been there over 40 times and they never, and believe me, never disappointed me. The quality and flavor are always the same, excellent. The staff is really nice as well, if I were to recommend any place to eat in the UK, it would be Alfie Grimshaw. ---- Llevo más de un año visitando Alfie Grimshaw, casi todos los fines de semana, y suelo pedir lo mismo: Kebab y patatas fritas. Delivery was late, had Missing items from order, phoned up and told me they didn't want to deliver it as I was to far ( 10min drive) so they said they would give a discount when I order next time, so I asked for a refund, was told they would phone back and I'm still waiting. I will say the food I did receive was nice but the rubbish delivery and customer service really let's this place down

Ordered fish and pickle onion for five past 9pm ..2 hours before I had done what I was doing. Message me back a ten minute delay ready for 915pm..didn't get till nearly half past 9....fish was nice though when it fed arrived ..

There's been a debate going around as too whether the quality of food has suffered since that new owners took it over. In my opinion the stadard of fare has remained largely the same. The new owners have also intoduced a line in pizzas which I haven't tried as yet but the choices appear appetizing.

Ordered on just eat, food took ages to arrive for 2 meals. Order arrived we asked for curry sauce got gravy when I rang to complain the lady on the phone said ‘ I know you wanted curry sauce but I thought you might want gravy instead’ Donner meat and chips was awful, Mayo everywhere salad is awful and looks disgusting and the donner meat was like rubber! Do not recommend won’t be using again!

Went to try alfie grimshaw on a recommendation through a friend and boy was I impressed. The shop gives you a perfect glimpse of an old traditional fish and chip shop. On a little research I found the shop is over a hundred years old.The food gives so much value for money. Massive portions at a very reasonable price as compared to all the other chip shops based in Kenilworth. The staff was very well behaved and in proper uniform which impressed me a lot. Food hygiene was of very high standards as well.The gaffa was very generous and well spoken. Their fish is probably the best I have had (massive portion) and trust me I have tried a lot of chip shops in Kenilworth and coventry.You can't go wrong with Buy one get one free on pizzas.I would highly recommend alfie grimshaw if you want high quality food at a reasonable price.

whitemoor road chippy was full so tried this one, it has a nice '' chippy '' name ' alfie grimshaws''..... not an alfie in site, .....all foreign faces, not a smile or hello with one man doing all the work including stopping work to answer the phone....it doesn't have a cheery atmosphere....... but the proof is in the eating.....I had cod , chips, peas and curry sauce.. the cod was much smaller and more expensive than my usual and the batter not as crisp and light the chips, not as nice but a huge amount ( too many by far ) curry sauce a bit harsher , the peas were good...... all in all it was a stodgy meal.....given the choice it is whitemoor road each and every time......by a factor of three

Ordered via uber eats 2 hour delivery,fish was absolutely awful definately wasn't cod,not apologetic about how long it took to arrive.

We ordered a delivery tonight after hearing good things about this place. However we waited over an hour and a half and when it eventually arrived it was cold. It had obviously been wrapped up for ages as the bag was full of condensation and the boxes were wet! It’s expensive even without the delivery charge and really not worth the extra.

This place used to be great several years back. However, since it was sold the quality of food has changed drastically. So many short cuts taken from cheap quality of chips to the packaging. The owner is clearly there to make a buck or two and doesn't care about the service or quality of food. We ordered food for delivery but boy was that a mistake!! The chips were not fresh and tasted stale as if they were cooked the day before and just re-heated. The curry sauce basically like water and the cheese and onion pasty was rock hard and cooked too long in the microwave. Really disappointed with how much this place has gone down. Definitely won't be going there again.

Where else do you know a fish and chip shop that as well as frying fish will pan fry it? Well Alfie does just that. Best to ring in advance so no waiting to collect. They also deliver locally. Excellent service and recommended.

I normally go to the fish shop on school lane, but stopped in here when I was passing. Cheesy chips...mmmmm.

Love a good burger and tried one a few months ago which was poor - decided to try another in hope it was better but this time it was even worse - don’t need to visit the cobblers for a while as I have new shoe soles!

Went with a friend and had the lunch special (mini fish, chips, mushy peas), which was excellent value at £4. The quality of the food was excellent. The fish was cooked fresh. Can't fault the quality of the food. And the service was very friendly. Highly recommended.

I had my doubts about this place being a chain establishment. But several visits confirmed that the staff care and the food is consistently good.

Here on a visit from Australia, hadn’t had fish & chips yet, so we decided to have them on our last night with my sister. The fish was beautiful & chips with curry sauce were a new taste sensation. Very glad we went here, everyone enjoyed it.

Tried this when walking back from town one night. We usually use School Lane, but this place was of comparable quality and had a good range of things on the menu.

A colleague had fish and chips last week and offered me some chips, but a couple were enough - they were the worst chips I've had. School Lane (from experience) and (I'm told) Whitemoor Road Chippy are much better.

Nice chip shop in rural location.. prices are expensive but most is cooked fresh to order and Served in a box.. local parking is difficult.. opening hours vary..

Always loved Alfies and used it the most out of the chippys in kenilworth but had a meal tonight which was less than satisfactory! Pasty that had no filling and hard as a rock even when heated through throughly! And soggy fish! Let down as this has previously been my family's favourite takeaway! Also let down by the service! We ordered over the phone and were given a time to collect, arrived and still had to wait around 15 minutes while the staff switched and swapped jobs till our order was finally bagged up!

Very disappointed with my order tonight. Previously this establishment that cooks to order has been excellent and good value. I ordered a large haddock and large chips to share and found 50% of our chips were non-fresh and 50% were freshly cooked. The batter on the haddock was soggy inside and the fish was over cooked!We will not be patronising this establishment again.

I popped in here for a takeaway meal to go back to my bosses house. The meal was still hot when we got back and I must admit I couldnt have anymore by the time we went to bed. Good value, plenty to have and will use again.Sal.

I am a local resident and knew the quality of the food from this place when under the previous management. Being the only place open on Sunday we had the worst fish and chips ever. The batter was smooth and rock hard on the outside but with a paste like consistency inside. The chips were hard and rubbery and I would probably have done the owners a favour by taking the meal back which would have been the first time ever I have complained about food as I am fair and reasonably easy to please.I wonder as it was a quiet early Sunday evening if the whole meal had been hanging about, the fish recoated and reheated instead of being thrown away.I hope this review helps the owner improve their offering quickly as their are several other fish and chips parlours on Kenilworth all of a good standard so I can see this business struggling unless change happens fast.

We were really looking forward to trying Alfie grimshaw's last night, we'd had the takeaway menu through our door and was really exited to try it. We had one a few years ago when it was under different management and had a really good experience. Last nights meal was the worst thing I'd ever had. The chips were brown/black and soggy. It was all freezing cold. I had ordered sauce for my filo prawns that never arrived. They resent one but sent the hot chilli not sweet chilli. I did try and tell the person on the phone that we weren't happy but he didn't seem to register what I said I think it was noisy? Or he just didn't understand me.The burger my partner had was deep fryed and was hard on the outside and not cooked in the centre. We paid £14 for nothing we tried a few chips the rest went in the bin. Will never be returning here unless it is taken over by new management. It was like a back street kabab house that you'd go to after a late night Partying. Extremely overpriced and overrated. Enter with caution

When fish and chip is the only thing that will do then head to AG.I had a cod and chips and my son a haddock and chips. We only needed one large chips to share as the portions are huge.The only thing with a take away is you need to head home fast to get it at its best.

Under the previous management, this was clearly the best chippy in the midlands - although that doesn't say much, the standard here was very high - after all, it was based on a proper Yorkshire chippy.Recent reviews have not been good, so I was a little anxious about what had happened to the place - however, I need not have worried. Haddock and cod were both perfect, as was the Halloumi. Fish that tastes of fish, nice crisp, tasty batter - so much better than the limp stuff at School Lane, never mind the lesser spots round here. Have to say I struggle to see how it can be as bad as some have said, yet revert to type when I went. Very odd.

Two hours ago we bought cod and chips from Alfie Grimshaw's in Kenilworth, a 15 mile journey we used to happily make for the best fish and chip shop outside of Rick Stein's in Padstow and Andrew's Plaice in Farnham Common. Note I said 'used to', when we dived into our supper sitting in the car park of Kenilworth castle this evening, in cartoon style we stopped mid chew and looked at each other."This isn't good is it?" My wife said...."no, it's awful"Rather than launch into a tirade of anonymous abuse I'll say here what I'd say to the new owners face.;- The batter was heavy and laden with grease, Alfie's used to be light , crip and delicious.- The chips were lank, Alfie's were crisp and fluffy inside- Worst of all the fish was poor quality and smelt 'fishy', a sure sign it isn't the freshest. Alfie's used to be wonderfully fresh My guess is that the last point is driven purely be profit, a short sighted view. Although they have reduced waiting time, we never minded waiting as everything was cooked fresher than fresh.Although they have diversified the menu from the fantastic array of mostly fish to now include more international choices, they've lost the USP that made Alfie's so special and it's heading for just another fast food joint full of kebabs and assorted blandness. You only have to read the other reviews on here to see the damage to reputation (and trade I would guess) this has caused.I'm genuinely disappointed and won't risk spending nearly £15.00 again (the prices if anything seem to have increased).Constructive suggestion- sort the produce, develop a decent batter, learn how to cook wonderful chips then relaunch yourselves and tell people the quality is back to where it should be. Be honest and people just may come back.My rating of 'terrible' for the food reflects the comparison with how it was before. Compared to all the other bland greasy chippy's out there, it's average.

Used to be the best chippy in the Midlands by a country mile. Used to tell all my friends to check it out and left a very positive review. Sadly 2 years later it's taken a step backward and become just a bog standard chip shop (which are 10 a penny in the local area) in need of a refurbishment. Vegetarians steer clear as the veggie options are cooked in the same oil as meat (as my girlfriend) found out the hard way. Now drive out of town for a chippy as this place has lost what made it so special. Such a shame
