Visited for some drinks. We believe that the management has changed hands since we last came. The drinks are almost £2 extra each. It’s now 2 for £12 on cocktails rather than 2 for £7. It was also empty with no atmosphere.

Minus the scaffolding and paint work being done, which was Intriguing. Customer services wasn’t the best and I had a dirty glass with lip stick on it but unfortunately I didn’t realise until I drank the how thing how dirty the glass was. Please ensure the glasses are actually clean.

Great pub tv screens everywhere miserable barman walking around with long face when asked at least twice why ? The answer was working back to back shifts at15.00 and answered 9 hours to go 🥱

Visited with some friends for a quick meal. Easy to order on there app and the prices were good. Portions sizes were a little small and the waiters didn’t really say much to us. Overall quick and easy food.

Fantastic service, we pre-ordered the Christmas 3 course lunch. The staff were fantastic, they went above and beyond to decorate our table and made our charity Christmas lunch special.

Terrible manager manners were appalling bar staff all huddled together at end of the bar to get there attention was terrible then a barman or possible manager spoke to us like c—p children of one of the staff in there at stupid a-clock would not use this place again after spending over £150 with the six of us out terrible terrible terrible

We were very disappointed with the service. We ordered online but waited over 40 minutes for food. Our drinks were brought to the table then the waitress and a colleague donned coats and left for a while. Lots of delivery drivers came and went with takeout. A very tall person without a name tag swanned about with no concern for time passing taking a single plate at a time to diners who had been waiting. The alarm from the dumb waiter ignored for ages. We were told they only started two weeks ago. The pub was bitterly cold inside making the wait seem forever.When the two women returned we asked for an eta, they did not return with an answer. Our food arrived incomplete, mo onion rings and no tartare sauce. It was not very hot. The onion rings came but my sauce did not. I had eaten my meal before it went cold it then arrived. We asked for an explanation and were told the deliveries slowed everything down! Then I discovered the disabled toilet had no paper and was filthy! I had to climb stairs to use the toilet. There was no hot water and they were filthy too. I know my husband and all his friends stopped going because the price of their round goes up and down daily. This is not the way to stay in business. There arent many wheelchair accessible pubs in town but now we know we wont be using this one until things change.

Me and a few my friends came in for dinner earlier this week and we were pleasantly surprised. The gentleman on the bar was very helpful and attentive. The food was great. Bit pricy for the drinks but can’t complain to much as the quality was great 👍🏻

A great venue for watching football with an excellent choice of beers and ciders. The food service is terrible. We waited over 30 minutes for three plates of over-fried rubbish. When we asked how long our order would be we were not given either a time or an apology - just an 'excuse' (that they also had deliveroo orders to fulfill) The rude African staff member finally brought the food and basically threw it on the table.

It was so loud in there it was impossible to talk accross the table. We had pre booked for party of 12 yet only 4 sets of cutlery was available till more could be washed.When asking for 3rd time waitress caused me of being rude. Didn't mention the condiments box which contained empty bottles of tomato and mayonnaise. Dare jot ask for replacement. Worse still. 11 meals came out. They had mistakenly forgot to cook my steak. With everyone else near finishing I went without my dinner. Was given an apology from accross the room with no offer so much as a concession. Afterwards we realised all meals come with a drink yet no one mentioned it to us when we ordered 12 drinks so probably overcharged by more than £25. Will never go back. No attempt at customer service. Just order take and little else.

Fantastic time here all the staff were fantastic including priscilla, lenore, callum and finn were fantastic. The food was also great Charlie cooked it to perfection

5 * All staff were lovely, friendly and polite, nothing was to much trouble! Went with the Fish and chip shop platter! £13 there is also a battered sausage under the fish! It was massive and absolute bargain and delicious. Definitely recommend

Visited a couple of times while in Banbury .. Used the app and went to the bar... Both services very quick.. Also had food .. Which was very nice.. All the staff where friendly and polite.. And the tables where cleared and cleaned very quickly.....

See above. Food tasty but tiny. I had a miniscule burger with a handful of chips and 5 onion rings. Staff were nice, though. Distinctly underwhelming. Won't be back

The service is good, scran is always good have never had bad food there and is best place in Banbury for the footy.

We had a lovely visit to The Cherwell, its bright and modern and great value. The team were a great help and clearly Covid practices are of high priority. Looks like it would be a great place to watch the footie and grab a tasty...

Nice guy behind the bar. The burger itself was fine (if a little small), but the letdown came from the almost flavourless, room-temperature chips. With some improvements it could be made much better.

Working in Banbury went here for tea, enjoyed atmosphere not as rowdy as dog and gun , food ok good time had by all of us.

Out shopping today just with friends so called in the Cherwell for a quick lunch the lady serving us I think it was Karen was amazing offered us so many choices with things it was lovely. The food came fast and hot and tasted amazing.

Spent £60 on 6 meals and majority of the food was awful. Do not eat here find some where else or don't eat

I went in the day they launched their "new menu", faced towards a new burger menu of different options that all sounded different. The burger arrived, £6/7 for a burger that tastes like a £1.50 rustlers burger, over cooked, tasteless bacon and no check in...

Checked website to see food served until 9pm but when we went to the bar to order at 8.20 on a Friday we were told kitchen closed at 8pm.

I took my staff for our staff Christmas meal here, it was perfect, food was delicious, staff are super friendly and looked after us well. The table was perfectly dressed. The price for all of our meals together was a very reasonable price. Everything was prepared ready for us. I would highly recommend coming here again and for anyone to book a party for any occasion.

Remembrance lunch maybe the wrong choice for a Sunday, I am not quite sure if the staff were all hungover from the night before but we'll. All of the staff that I came across were miserable or ignorant, food was shocking over cooked micro waved. Not very pleasant at all.

Went In to have a beer and something to eat, staff were friendly, I ordered a mixed grill with my steak medium rare, when the waitress brought it out the steak was cremated, the waitress said she would get the chef to cook me another steak, ended up walking out 40 minutes later.....wouldn't recommend for food, clearly they don't have a experienced chef/cook in the kitchen.

Food is well presented and tasty. Cocktail menu an added bonus. We hadn't planned on drinking but a few of the cocktails sounded to good to miss out on. Great experience had.

Waited a while to get served - granted it was a Saturday afternoon but there was only 2 staff serving. After finally getting served the woman was one of the rudest bar staff I've ever came across. Won't be hurrying back

Called in after hospital for lunch found prices really good,And i ordered fish and chips and a pint.The fish and chips came and what i liked was the paper it came on,It had Andy Capp on and news,It took me back to my youth when we had the fish and chips in newspaper.The paper was on a plate i should add and the fish and chips where really nice.

I came here for lunch today with a friend. We both ordered the grilled halloumi, tomato and onion sub with curly fries. It's wasn't very good. The sub just feel apart when I tried to pick it up, my friend said hers was abit stale. The halloumi was cold, it looked like it had been grilled before hand and then placed in the sub cold. The curly fries were only slightly warm too... the best bit out of it all was the diet coke... yes we did eat our lunch, we were in a rush as didn't have much time to spare. We didn't have time to wait for another one to be made. It was edible, just not enjoyable unfortunately. Won't be returning here for food

I came here for lunch today and ordered two burgers and drinks. The menu is fairly good value for money, but you get what you pay for with the food quality really. I had a Veggie Fajita Burger and found it was quite dry and basic, but the chips were nice and my partner ate all of his Southern Fried Chicken Burger. The staff were friendly and efficient and service was very fast, but I probably won’t be coming back to this pub again any time soon as I didn’t really enjoy my food.

We had made plans to have a cheap breakfast at Toby’s Carvery but they were closed. We travelled a fair distance so didn’t want to leave banbury without breakfast.

Visited recently and was unimpressed with the rude service I received. When I pointed out I had been over charged for a lunchtime deal I was simply told 'I'll print you off a receipt' I didn't want a receipt I wanted to pay the correct amount for the food I had ordered. The miserable rude bar woman shoved the receipt on the bar and turned away. Had it not been for the fact I was working supporting someone with a learning disability who had chosen to go here for lunch I would have asked to see the manager and insisted they sort it out but as it was I had to accept the fact I (or he in fact) had been over charged. Not impressed and this is not the first time I have had this happen! Check your receipts people. Also I ordered vegetarian sausage and mash and clearly the sausages were meat. Luckily the recipient was not a vegetarian! Will not come here again.

Popped in here on a visit to Banbury and expected run of the mill corporate style basic pub but loved the layout with funky sofas and booths with TVs at some booths for the kids (or adults!) and cheap beers to boot - clean toilets and good quick service

Best place in town to watch football or sports. Cheap beers as well. Different offers each day. Billiard available.

Had a great night was a free salsa class on, beer is cheap and there are two for one cocktails pool table TVs with football playing. The bar tender Loki was very help full fast efficient service will go again next Friday :)

This pub is now a sports bar, so unless you like watching football it is best avoided.

If you want something to eat when in Banbury, this has a good selection of quick snacks and meals,all at low prices. A pint of bitter was only £2.20.

Good value for money. Food and drink is cheap. Only been in on my lunch during the day so cant comment about what its like in the evening. Nice alternative to Spoons. Wifi is awful, you can only use FB or Twitter.

Went for a night out there last Saturday, pub was quite busy as there was a private party or something on the dance floor. There was two bar staff I got served by both at different times think their names were Rod and Loki, they were busy but served everyone professionally and quickly.

I went out to the Cherwell with some friends for Christmas they were really busy but the pub was tidy the staff were still smiling even at the end of the night we had a blast it was a lady and a young guy with tatts

Went a couple of weeks ago, was not good. Was overcharged by £8 at the till, when I pointed it out the girl was rude and bad tempered about it. Food turned up lukewarm, my son's plate was missing an egg, when I asked for it the waitress snatched the plate off me, stormed off, came back and slammed the plate down like it was my fault. Place wasn't clean either. Decided to give them a second chance and went in for lunch with my children. Table was filthy and couldn't find a staff member so cleaned it myself. Food turned up lukewarm, and missing a portion of chips. Waitress acted like we were a huge inconvenience when I asked for them. My son had gammon but was given an ordinary knife. Asked for a steak knife, which turned up covered in food. Asked for a replacement, waitress wasn't happy about that either. My daughter gave up on her gammon as it was so fatty and chewy. Ordered desserts, the cakes were so dry they were practically inedible. One of the spoons was covered in food, and when we asked for a replacement we were told they had ran out of spoons! So after giving them 2 chances I will not go back. Staff are rude, don't know what they are doing and treat you like you are an inconvenience. Food is never hot, place is never clean. Go elsewhere!

We visited for a late mid week lunch. The place wasn't particularly busy at that time with people having food. Ordered and paid at the bar for a meal and drinks. Wasn't offered a tray to take the drinks back to the table so had to make two trips. A small thing but ...?The food then took over half an hour to arrive with no apologies for the delay. Soft and pale, "cardboard" chips makes another bad impression. Battered fish was OK but the burgers! The burger meat was actually very good but spoilt between a bun, one piece of lettuce and a thin slice of tomato. There were sauces on the table but I don't expect to have to assemble the thing myself.The overall experience was poor and we won't be back.

We were moored for the night on a barge at Castle Quays, and went lookinf for a full English Breakfast. Great value for money here...No complaints !

We called in for an early evening meal and drink. I asked for an Old Rosie cider but I was told that "it went off yesterday afternoon and I don't think it is back on yet". The barmaids were chatting to each other saying, "Ooh, I really want to go for a piss. Yes Sir, can I help you?"So I then chose a pint of Pedigree which was served absolutely flat, no head at all. My wife wanted a stout that she had tried earlier on at another pub but it was again served flat and not good. We sat at one table to find it sticky and smeared so we chose another table. Alarm bells should have started to ring by this time. We ordered the food of Chicken tikka and Southern Fried Chicken but we were told that they had no tikka sauce so that was not available. My wife opted for a lasagne instead. Cutlery was dropped on our table and one of the knives was a very small child's knife and filthy. We took it back and given an adult knife. The food arrived within 10 minutes and the 'Southern Fried Chicken turned out to be a very small slice of grilled chicken breast, about 3inches square and less than half an inch thick, drizzled with some sort of sauce, a spoonful of green peas and the chips were nearly cold. My wife's lasagne was just about frozen in the middle so that went back to be served 10 minutes later after I had finished mine. This time the lasagne was burnt and crispy around the edge of the dish and nearly inedible. We were offered an apology and some free drinks but we declined as the beer was crap. The barmaid who served us then went outside and sat on a seat opposite the pub smoking a cig in full view of all customers then ambled back in to clear our table. We were absolutely disgusted with everything about this pub and we will not be going back nor will we recommend it to anyone.

Really love the revamp that this place has had but it's very hit and miss with food and service standards. Would possibly try again if in the area but only because there isn't much other choice for a sit down lunch in the town centre. In general staff are friendly.

This deserves a bad review as it really is poor, but it certainly doesn't deserve a long one, so I'll be brief.My family and I visited on Sunday 2nd July. Rude, disinterested bar girl. Made no attempt to make eye contact, or to be welcoming.The food was shocking, inedible actually. I had a mixed grill and every part of it was either fatty, gristly, overcooked. The fried egg looked like it had been thrown at the plate. I didn't get a chance to even attempt to finish my food as at 7.30pm on the dot a similarly dead-eyed waitress appeared and informed us, very abruptly, that as we had children with us, we had to leave. Now. We were not informed of the fact that we would have to leave at 7.30pm, despite ordering a child's meal at 7.00pmIf the management want to attract people who will buy food and drink (we spent £90 alone) need to think very hard about making the experience good enough for them to want to go back. None of my party want to go back, and I certainly won't spend any of my hard earned £££s there again.

Very nice decor, friendly staff, and tasty food had nachos which were brill and a good selection of veggie meals would deffo go again

We visited this place when it first opened a few months ago and received poor service then but put it down to newly opened. Returned today for lunch and it was just a disaster. Our food took 30 minutes to arrive, and then all 3 meals were wrong. Staff had no empathy and we were under the impression we were an inconvenience. I felt sorry for the young man doing the food who asked us if everything was okay, and then looked uncomfortable when we explained why not. Waited 20 minutes for replacements before asking for a refund and leaving. Went to the local wetherspoons where the service and food was so much better. I won't be returning.

Firstly the staff or rather lack of staff.They would rather converse with each other than serve waiting customers.Food waiting time unacceptable thirty minutes for the main to arrive after starter tables sticky and dirty discarded drinks left on tables for long periods of time without being cleared away

Popped into the Churwell pub today and wow . Clean and tidy and the food was lovely. Keep it up and your do well
