The Cherry Tree in Melton

My mums birthday meal was in March we don't come from Melton, this was recommended and it's a poor tail when your customers can make you feel more welcome than the staff do, a large group near the bar was loud but entertaining, they gave the pub a good atmosphere, if it wasn't for them we'd have ate and drank our drinks and left but we stayed for a couple more as they was so friendly and welcoming, the food was great yay yous expect from a standard pub, we had to wait longer on the puddings than the main courses and when they came they just got slammed onto the table like it was too much of an inconvenience to serve us (which surely is there job role) the cleanliness wise the decor and carpet is mismatched, half the women's cubicles in the toilets don't work and neither does one out of two of the hand dryers, tables are not cleaned after customers leave even though the pub wasn't busy, so other customers was sat sitting on dirty tables even some had still had the left over dirty plates after they had ate their meal!!!!!!!

I cannot fault the food, delicious and reasonably priced but the staff are so rude and clicky and the customers are even worse, bullying other regular customers just because they don't get on, is this a pub or a play ground? I won't be coming back here again and I hope those who got bullied don't either!!!! A MASSIVE TIP If you have issues with people keep them to yourselves or discuss it out of work, not in front of customers, it's very off putting

Branded a piss head for having two pints will not be going again not very good service use to be a regular far to clicky around a certain table

Had our first breakfast at the cherry tree absolutely excellent value for money everything cooked to perfection couldn’t ask for more lovely cup of tea all nice and hot and all bought out together brilliant .

Visited The cherry tree whilst in the area as they are dog friendly. Pleasantly surprised, very welcoming staff, (Hannah served me) very friendly and welcoming! great selection of different dishes (I have an eating disorder due to radiotherapy) at very good prices. Highly recommended

Myself and my partner visited yesterday afternoon with our toddler in hopes of a wonderful dinner. We can safely say we were not disappointed! There was a lovely atmosphere upon our arrival and nothing appeared to be too much trouble for the staff! The chef himself came out to ask if my steak was okay in regards to cooking preference as I am one very fussy customer, which I thought was a nice touch. My toddler thoroughly enjoyed her dinner and the selection of colouring and story books provided! It is definitely a pub aimed at pleasing all walks of life and I will certainly be returning soon!

We went for a meal up to the Cherry Tree, we found a seat, ordered a drink and our meal, the place has recently been redecorated and looks good, the staff are very friendly. The place is very popular. Meals are good value and are served between 12-2pm and 4-8pm. I would recommend the Cherry Tree

Lovely New Year’s Eve dinner. Great atmosphere, food, drink & service. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful who managed to serve & look after our group of 24 without any problems. We will definitely be returning again. Thank you Nic & your team for accommodating us & all the best for 2020.

Had a lovely meal chicken with sweet chilli sauce was so tender was very busy and so friendly staff 2nd time we have been will definitely go again good choice of menu and reasonably priced

The Pub is now a family run business and is so much better. It is still a work in progress but has a nice atmosphere and the staff are lovely. Food is better than the average pub grub

The place has changed a great deal. Nice, friendly staff, decent wine, and clean tables . Definite improvement since change from being a Sizzler. Looking forward to trying the food albeit available on reduced hours.

I ate at The Cherry Tree this week for the first time since it was taken over by new owners. Having refused to even go in the pub under the previous management this was actually a lovely experience. Firstly the pub is clean (yes I know that’s a basic expectation, but that wasn’t the case previously!) Secondly, the staff were attentive and customer service was at it’s best. The new menu left me spoilt for choice and after much deliberation I went for the sirloin steak and upgraded it to surf and turf. It was delicious. A really good quality juicy steak, well cooked and well presented. It was also good value for money. I couldn’t resist a cheeky desert, again a really good price and thoroughly delicious. Well done Team Cherry Tree, it’s back to how it should be. A clean, welcoming family pub at the centre of the community offering good food at a reasonable price.

Had a great family meal. Food was well cooked and nicely presented. The staff were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The pub is under new ownership and it is much better. The decor is tired but it is a work in progress. Would I come back? That's a definite yes!

Our first visit on a Saturday afternoon when quite a few others were also dining. No complaints about the friendly and quick service - only a 10 minute wait. £20 for two meals and 2 drinks. Food was excellent. The only negative point for me was the use of sachets for condiments.

Super tasty fish chips and mushy peas plus bread and butter at the cherry tree Melton Mowbray .the cherry tree has new owners who will be bringing out a new menu on June 1st in the meantime call in and enjoy what is on offer at the moment

First visit to the cherry tree since it has been taken over by Milton . The decor was the same as it was. The menu has become more expensive for a smaller portions. The food was delicious. It would now be too expensive to go for tea as often as I used to. New management please note.

Went midweek at lunchtime so pub was quiet. Bar and seating fine and the menu is better than most.

Overall great place love it the staff nice and friendly I would recommend it to anyone the food is exellent

Place needs a gutting, food was poor its a shame as the staff are nice and welcoming, the place could be a million times better than it is, everywhere you look needs a good clean, the food is typical microwave meal and not that skilfully cooked either the chicken was so dry you couldn't chew it

Have visited and eaten there many times, food can range from excellent to below standard depending on which staff in the kitchen probably. Main gripe is the state of cleanliness. It has turned into a joke that the bin outside the entrance is as full now as it was in the summer. It just isnt emptied, it is composting down! Tables and chairs are dirty, with the joke that you wipe your feet on the way out (chips etc undertables). We hoped when it was taken over back in August that there'd be a revamp, but months on nothing has changed. Other than the hedge has been cut! Such a shame as its such a vital part of the local community.

Came here not knowing what it was like. Not many tables spare so was left next to a family re union to loud with kids. Not pubs fault. Food ordered didn't take long to come out food was nice. However the decor was dated and paints chipped off and dust. Tables were not clean. Two men made it known to us they kept staring at me for no reason. Pub felt dirty and came away smelling of fat. Food was nice shame about the rest.

having paid this pub a visit many times over the years I am happy to say that it does not disappoint. the portions sizes are more than enough, the food is always cooked to perfection, the prices cannot be complained about and the staff are extremely friendly and professional in everything they do.

Went on a Sunday hoping to have Sunday lunch. 4pm and after ordering from the bar they said we no longer have Sunday lunches. So we sat and decided again what we wanted. I had an all day breakfast, other half a mixed grill, and our child had a chicken burger. When the food arrived I could of cried! I was mortified that my sausages were very burnt, my bacon was solid as a rock and like leather ( I like crispy bacon so not being fussy here!) There were no beans as stated on the menu and my chips were like cardboard, also my " grilled tomatoe" was literally an under ripe raw tomatoe cut in half! I also got no butter with my two slices of dry bread . I left most of it. Other half's mixed grill also had burnt sausages and he didn't get his steak on his plate as stated on the menu! His chips were also like cardboard. My son's meal was the best out of all we had ordered. I was too upset to complain as when angry I tend to cry and didn't want to cause a scene in the restaurant. If I would of been asked if my meal was OK during the meal I would of stated the discrepancies but we were not asked. We will not be going back unfortunately. It used to be excellent food no matter what time of day you went there, don't know if it has changed hands but needs massive improvement before we will return.

We came here for our daughters birthday meal as we have enjoyed the food here in the past.Tonight's food was as good as always.I had a classic mixed grill ,the meat cooked perfectly.In fact all four of us had a great meal and left four empty plates.There is a larger mixed grill which I normally have but this was still a good plate full.The staff are warm and friendly but the place itself could do with a little TLC.The menu is very large with something for everyone and the prices are excellent.I look forward to the next time I come here

Visited with family early on a Sunday afternoon when you would expect staff both front of house and in the restaurant to be on the ball. Half of the group ordered at the bar and after their order was taken the member of staff disappeared mumbling something about sorting out the food! Stood there waiting for him to reappear to no avail and eventually another member of staff appeared who took our order. When the first choice (sunday dinner) was not available and then second choice (Doom ale pie) was not available I was tempted not to bother but as other food had already been ordered had to settle for a burger. Daughter ordered sunday dinner (not available) so ordered Maple Chicken which arrived with no Maple sauce (had ran out) and a cold corn on the cob. We then decided to order puddings - sticky toffee pudding on the menu but told they no longer do it but have treacle sponge instead only to be told they only had ONE!! No apple crumble and very limited anything else apart from ice cream. So if you are happy with burger for main and ice cream for pud you'll be happy here however if I'd have wanted a McDonalds I would have gone to McDonalds. Will really think twice (or maybe even thrice) before eating here again.

now under a new management i can safely say it was the worst meal ive ever had in the establishment. The alleged 6oz gammon was a large overdone rasher of bacon.When i complained was told it had started as a 6oz gammon but had gone "flat".Also a large sweating gentleman was continually walking around the tables,when i complained was told that was David who was normally with his carer as though it was quite a natural thing! Will never eat there again.

We visited the Cherry Tree on two occasions when on holiday at Eye Kettleby Lakes Caravan Park. The caravan site had a list of pubs to go to but this was not on the list. We were initially unimpressed with the decor but this was forgotten as we ordered the chicken and ribs combo which was very well cooked and nicely presented on a bed of onions. A second trip for Sunday lunch was a bit disappointing as we wanted to order pork or beef but was told at !3.00hrs that there was only chicken available!!!!!!!. However we ordered this and thoroughly enjoyed it. For food, it is worth a visit

I usually enjoy my visits to the cherry tree especially as I live close by but today I was very disappointed, the staff looked like they'd rather be anywhere but there, me and my friends had to wait 40 minutes for our meal which my friends burgers were burnt, the bacon was so over cooked it had disintegrated, one of my friends ordered the sky scraper - it really did not live up to its name! And they forgot onion rings! which was meant to come as part of the meal!.

Sorry to say but the landlady is so unwelcoming - never smiles. Have not tried the food for a while but I hear it is still like congealed rubber. The worst is the toilets - There are no words to describe the horrors - no toilet seats on 3 out of 4 toilets, discusting floor.

We regularly visit the Cherry Tree for family gatherings, as it is convenient and casual - we grab a big table and family members come and go. First, the negative - the toilets really need upgrading. It's not about cleanliness - I know the staff clean them often - they are just really grungy, especially the floor, and no amount of scrubbing will change that. Now the positive I took my friends from Hawaii for their first local housing estate pub experience - they had done country pubs and classy restaurants, so I was a bit nervous - but they loved it! Staff were friendly and the food was good, even if our server couldn't name the replacement fish (cod was sold out) - we worked out with the staff that it was barramundi! My friends really enjoyed their meal - generous portion, well cooked and nicely plated up. The prices are very reasonable too. At 9pm they joined in their first pub quiz (no prizes; just for fun) - I was happy that this was such a positive experience for them.

A wonderful meal at the cherry tree , all 3 of us had steaks they were cooked to purfection, I loved the onions under my steak which was on a sizzlers plate which was great as I'm a slow eater and this keeper my steak hot. My hubby had a mixed grill which he couldn't finish it was so big. Great meal out, and for a great price. Friendly staff

We went here recently as a couple for quick easy meal and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the food was and the service was quick also, we will be going back great value for money also

My husband and I visited here one evening for our tea and we definitely will NOT be going back again. The steak was over cooked and like eating rubber, it was placed on a 'bed' of onions which were soggy, watery and just disgusting and the service wasn't great either. There were so many soggy onions on the plate that my husband ended up emptying his food onto my plate and pouring the onion into a side bowl. As for the service, a table check back happened... before we'd even got salt, pepper and sauces put on our meals. This is not how a table check back to be done! Oh, and we also got the wrong chips with our meals. On complaining, we received a £15 voucher which wouldn't cover the cost of going to another restaurant in the sizzling pub chain and this experience has put me off trying another place at a cost to myself

second time at cherry tree with extended 'family' from Nottingham: staff does an amazing job keeping the many groups from getting each other's way - the restaurant can get quite crowded, especially sunday evenings...carvery is lovely: chicken, pork, beef, sausage choices with all the fixings: steamed veggies and three types of potatoes! desserts are HUGE: might consider sharing or keep room = and delicious!! thanks guys for the treat...

Only our second visit but what a difference was very cramped first time bit loads of space this time. Food was good and our grandson had a whale of a time (he is only 20 months) running around but for one grumpy customer. This is a FAMILY establishment so expect children. Not the pubs fault though. Will definitely go again

went down for Christmas dinner it was excellent.Excellent service by the staff who was polite and well mannered.

On 24th December 2016 we ordered a meal when It came it was stone cold and very under cooked, sausages where raw, bacon frazzled, beans cold, mushrooms stone cold all in all unedible a health risk, as a long standing customer of the cherry tree who has always had a great hot meal there I was very disappointed not only us but two other customers got up and left there uncooked food .and just walked out . Bring back the old chef who knew how to plate a meal and it be hot, won't be going back till old chef is back, should have asked for my money back but could not get out of there quick enough

We went for an early evening meal on a cold Tuesday evening. Place was clean warm and the service was pleasant and friendly. The prices were reasonable

Visited with a group of people food was good nobody complained which I feel is important prices are good staff were good and served quite fast considering they were serving different meals it's worth a visit but don't expect michelan star food your choice

Was grubby dirty and needed a hand wipe after being in there Melton is not the best but its rank we went after work with friends and colleagues and the staff we nice and friendly just the place is a working men's type place I wouldn't eat there either although I'm sure the food is nice I personally wouldn't eat or drink there sorry

You get what you pay for here. It always annoys me when people pay £5 for a meal then complain about the finer details. For wat you pay, you get a good portion, hot food that fills you up, and generally polite staff to serve it to you. There is a large selection of drinks and the menu has a lot of variety for kids and adults. Cant fault it.

I have eaten many times in the Cherry tree and never been disappointed. Sometimes evening meal and most times lunch. There is a wide range of meals, just order at the bar and the meal is brought to your table, always piping hot. Very friendly bar staff.

This is a great pub with cheap beer and wonderful cheap food. We come here most days. Staff are always, welcoming, lovely and polite, especially Robyn which is always amazing.

Love this pub it's cheap and cheerful lovely big menu and beautiful food. Good customer service especially from a member of team called Jodie. Nothing is ever too much trouble with her. Quiz nights on a Sunday evening are eventful!!

Food was fine, but shabby pub, needs COMPLETE overhaul as looked dirty and windows were filthy all looking a bit uncared for, needs investment from pub chain. Manageress very pleasant, it can't be easy for staff working in such an environment!

Once again, a poor meal in a badly run restaurant/pub. We only live around the corner so it is so handy to come here for a meal but the last 3 times have been very very poor. Previously we have had to send back food for being cold, or for the plates being dirty (dried on eggshell on the plate, dirty cutlery). This time we ordered, the food arrived missing the grilled corn on the cob. I went to the bar and asked for it, it appeared 5 minutes later with no colour and surprisingly no heat. It was as if it had just been taken out the fridge and slapped on a plate. I sent it back again for it to arrive with a thermonuclear core and a slight charring on one side. The power of the microwave. The response from the manager is do you want a free drink or dessert. The answer is no, i would happily pay for extra drinks or desserts, if the meal was right in the first place. We have now taken the decision to go elsewhere for a meal, even if one of us has to drive and not have a drink. We will not be revisiting until the management have been changed. We sat outside to finish our drinks off, finding a clean table amongst the 5 dirty ones there. By the time we had finished there were still 5 dirty tables. No managenment, very very poor establishment.

It's a chain pub but it's great value and this place has one of the best managers - she's great & always knows you and ensures great service.

Three of us went there for Dinner a few weeks ago and the Food was very good in there. The service was pretty good.The only let down for me was the state of the Men's Toilets as they were disgusting !!

I have had the breakfast on several occasion and it is super good value for money. It is great for cheap reasonable quality food. Good for families. Great quiz night on Thursdays.

was difficult when we first arrived to find a table of four as there was a large group table reservied and many families in but we did we had mains and pud plus a bottle of wine and a soft drink for the driver service very good till it came to puds other wise fine

We have been here a few times since moving to the area. The food is consistently good value for money. Happy to keep returning.

Having only recently moved to Melton we were keen to try local places within walking distance. We Have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. Battered fish exceptional, and so reasonable.The staff in general are lovely, just one exception, pity she cant say please, thankyou or even say what can I get you. Obviously picked the wrong day! Spoiled the atmosphere somewhat, but hey ho the other staff make up for it, and are very pleasant.

I went here with my husband for a "date night" however we do go here quite a bit with our son too. The food is good. Staff are friendly. Food is hot and presented well. Would recommend.

Took my family, including 3 kids for a meal. Used to visit all the time and had no complaints. However, this time we waited nearly 45 minutes for our food despite the pub being empty, and when the food finally arrived it failed to meet its expectations. Everything was overcooked...the peas had lost their colour, the gammon was bone dry, the sausages looked like they'd been left on the bbq an hour too long, and the medium steak could easily have been used as a weapon. Perhaps if things had been cooked for the correct amount of time we wouldn't have been waiting so long!

Pretty good local pub. Food and drink are as you would expect. Never had a complaint myself. People moan but it doesnt boast to be a michelin star restaurant. Must agree that the toilets need lookin after a bit more.

Having moved to Melton a year ago this is now really my local. Great for a few drinks. Food is your normal pub food, never have any complaints myself. My in laws have had a few dodgy meals in the past few years but I think it was under the previous management. Generally a good pub.

The service on Sunday was slow & to add insult to injury the table that ordered after us were served before us. My scampi was fine, but the others had mixed grill and only 1 of the 3 steaks was cooked as ordered "medium"!! One was rare & the other almost raw inside. The staff did try & sort this out, but it didn't really work. The management, like ourselves, had obviously forgotten that with Leicester on the TV more food would be ordered & they had not got sufficient staff available to serve behind the bar and deliver the food orders so food was kept hot for longer than it would normally have been.It will be a while before we go back there to eat, despite its convenient location.Its sad to see such a once popular pub go downhill :-(

Standard pub grub.Everything was a bit sticky and unhygenic but like the kind of guy I am, I looked past that.I was informed by my daughter that the wifie was fantastic. I am not a technological man, however so this did not affect me. :)The food took a while to arrive and was rather reminiscent of slugs, not spaghetti. But like the kind of guy I am, I looked past this.I was also informed that the ladies toilets were very nice, but like the guy I am, I did not look at these.

After waiting for over an hour for food, the quality was poor. Chips were cold, and part of the chicken was pink. On complaining the customer service was poor. Good for drinks but poor for food, and the toilets are disgusting!

with less than 30 people in the pub and after waiting an hour for our food it finally arrivedthe lasagne was to die for and the chocolate brownie is the best everhowever the place is abit hit and miss we have had to have had few refunds due to cold food arriving, over an hour waits and food of the menu missing off our platesso really u take it as u find it
